I'm first and foremost an extremely curious person. I have an intense desire to understand the nature of reality. Many people think I'm an extrovert, and I tend to play that role alot, but I'm also very introverted and need my down time to integrate my experiences with people places, and ideas I interact with. I grew up in a very small town and then somewhere down the line got shot out of a canon into the San Francisco Bay Area, where everything got a lot more fun, a lot more interesting, and waaaay more complicated :) Before I started volunteering for CouchSurfing, I was a technology consultant for many years, and I worked as a Project Manager at a very large Biotech Firm. Everything got a little too "Office Space", so I tried to do something I was more interested in, which is fostering community and helping throw amazing events.
CouchSurfing Experience
Only in this time in all of history has something like this been possible. The possibilities are truly infinite. It diddles my skiddle...
Interests
Philosophy, World Religions, Quantum Physics, Ancient Civilizations, Politics and Power, The Occult...heavy stuff.
Also being a fool, having some drinks and stupid fun time with friends, having my mind blown, blowing other peoples minds, making music, sleeping in, good film, food and art.
Philosophy
I'm always working on this. I believe in the 80/20 rule...keep a belief system 80 percent so that you can function, but leave a 20 percent door of doubt so you can constantly evolve as new information comes to you. I believe there are many deeper levels of reality that most of us can't perceive that affect who we are individually and collectively. Carl Jung, Joseph Campbell, and Bill Moyers are my Heroes.
Music, Movies, Books
My favorite book is Siddhartha by Herman Hesse. Modern Man in Search of a Soul by Carl Jung. The Archaic Revival by Terrence McKenna. The Promithea series by Alan Moore, everything by Joseph Campbell.
Movies: Pi, The Matrix (first one), Jean-Michel Charlier's Blueberry, Baraka, Taxi Driver, Heat, Fight Club, so many.. hard to remember.
Music is way too much to even get in to, but I dabble as a breaks DJ.
Types of People I enjoy
Interesting people who ask big questions. People who are considerate and self-aware. People who aren't easily offended. People that are more advanced than me so I can learn from them. And people who are complete fools.
Teach, Learn, Share
"In the time of internal gathering together, make no arbitrary choice of your associates. There are secret internal forces at work, leading together those who belong together." - I Ching Wisdom
One Amazing Thing I've Seen or Done
I like to say that I'm able to get along with people from the Crackhouse to the Penthouse. And I've seen alot of stuff in between those extremes. The world is a crazy place, and I wouldn't have it any other way.
This summary is not a replacement for reading references; it's a quick summary to help you get started. At a glance, you can see how many references a member has, and how many of them are positive, neutral, and negative.
In the second line, you'll see how many references came from people who hosted this member, surfed with them, and traveled with them. These numbers won't always add up to the total: some references are not categorized, and some may be categorized as more than one thing.
When viewing this summary, don't jump to conclusions! Things that are negative for one person may be positive for another, and vice versa. It's important to read references carefully and evaluate what that information means to you.
On CS you can received 3 kind of requests: a couch request, an help request and a Cam request!
I was so happy to received his request to help out at the Montreal Conf' as i could see the bubbling of activities coming to Montreal from my online daily experience: i know he was coming, and i would enjoy to see finally someone MORE busy than ME at welcoming and putting everything together to make the Conf' a successful one, he he he ;)
Irish drinking including, lol!
It was a blast to know Cam and share some time together. I was impress by his organization skills while keeping his human touch and cool. I hope next time will be more of pleasure than work now that he is a salary man (poor him ;)
A man you can can trust on and count on. A CS gem.
We met Cs.Istanbul Conference.. We met again same day cs. evening meeting. I'm glad ı had the chance to meet Camtastic because CouchSurfing is such a great project for me. We had some short chats both at the conference and at after socials..He is talkative, smart, sincere, sweet and helpful.. Istanbul is always ready embrace to you..." Hope to see you again..
we meet at the CS-conference in Berlin with Casey Fenton. After that he stayed at my place with my flatmates for a couple of days. Unfortunatly i was on a businesstrip during that time. But my flatmates told me that they had a really inspiring with Cam.
When Cam entered my flat we were on the same wavelength immediately. He has a great way to show you his gratitude and to live his life to the full. We had a beautiful autumnal stroll through the Berlin's greatest shopping mall together, had a barrel of laughs and cooked a dinner that offered unequaled opportunities (-; After enjoying the lounge atmosphere we decided to hot up the party and Cam invited the CS Community instantly *haha*
Let's meet up at the next Burning Man Cam!
This inspired me massively.
It was definitely a blast to have Cam at home, the only (tiny) drawback being that, hadn't he been here for work reasons, we would probably have gone into even sillier BS than we already did. You're welcome back anytime, lovely, and you, other readers, would be inspired to check him too ! I can't wait to cross the ocean to harass him again :)))
Me & Cameron were in touch months before the official conference in Istanbul. Finally when he came to Istanbul,i must say it was really pleasure to meet him. This guy is full of energy, who can work with hardly any sleep like me ha ha ha.Yes the moment he landed & our chemistry matched & we conquered Istanbul streets specially Taxsim streets. It was pleasure hosting you.You are always welcome for your honeymoon in Istanbul whenever.Trust me house will be yours my friend.
Cam & I spent a great day together exploring some of the hidden gems by the river in London's old docklands. It was a real pleasure to share this time with Cam and actually get to know him aside from CS. I found a truly sincere & dedicated individual with a passion for life & adventure. A man of many fabulous life experiences with fascinating stories to match, yet still yearning for more. An engaging conversationalist, with a great sense of humour. A lover of travel, of culture, of history & a connoisseur of fine food. A day well spent!
Cameron is a friendly, knowledgeble, and unassuming person.
We had a bit of interaction which gave me a better insight into CS.
I am glad that i met him and hope to meet many more times in the future.
