Couch Information

Couch picture

Couch Available: Yes
Preferred Gender: Any
Max Surfers Per Night: 2

Shared Sleeping Surface: Depends
Shared Room: Yes

I can offer a couch for 2 people in the same room I share with my girlfriend.

***********
DO NOT SEND ME MESSAGES, use the "couchsurf with" button, because most of the time, I do NOT have access to my CS inbox. If you have to contact me urgently, TEXT me: +420777057744. Of course, you still have to send a proper couchrequest, texting is only a last resort.

Text me anytime, but do NOT call me before 05.30 pm on weekdays. I'm very sorry for this, but I won't answer private calls from the office.
***********

I have just moved to Brno (in September 2011) and live there with my girlfriend. It takes 30-45 minutes from our house (with a lot of flatmates) to the city center. My couch is some kind of couch-potato couch, in which you can lie and sleep while facing the TV. It is comfortable enough for sleeping!

Important information:I receive too much e-mails which do not even mention my name. Just to be sure you actually read my profile, please send me this "password" when you contact me: maitrank. If you don't, I will be very very sad that you haven't read my profile, and I will have a word with you. Also, if your profile is blank and you have no references, how am I supposed to trust you? I'll always take some time to reply, so take some time to fill your profile BEFORE you ask me for a couch.

I don't have any pet (used to have three rats), and I don't smoke. I'd be happy to go and help any couchsurfer discover the fun things to do around.

I have to say I like people to be on time. I'm not asking you to tell me exactly when you will be there, but if you tell me "between 8 and 10 pm", I won't be happy if you show up at 10.30 pm. Text me if you're running late, it's alright! The only thing I don't like is if you leave me wondering when, and if, you will show up.

Personal Description

READ THIS BEFORE CONTACTING ME if you need a couch. Seriously, do it, or I will not host you. There are just TWO things I ask of you:
1) DO NOT SEND ME MESSAGES, use the "Send CouchRequest to Pierre Blondelle!" button, because most of the time, I do NOT have access to my CS inbox. If you have to contact me urgently, TEXT me: 00420543123627. Of course, you still have to send a proper couchrequest, texting is only a last resort.
Text me anytime, but do NOT call me before 05.30 pm on weekdays. I'm very sorry for this, but I won't answer private calls from the office. I have NO way to read my messages from the office, I can only read (and reply to) the couch requests.
2) Include the PASSWORD in your request so I know you have read this. The password is on this page, and should be very easy to find. No password, no couch.

I am quite the extrovert kind. I want to do all I can to enjoy life as much as I can. Nothing is impossible, I WILL travel everywhere I want, and meet lots of different people.

I am VERY outgoing. While I prefer going out in bars and music cafés rather than discos, I will still go there with you if that's what you like. I like change, so wherever you want to go, I'm in. I'm a Yesman, and I love it.

Basically, I went from shy/introverted to confident/extroverted in less than two years. I have wasted enough time, so I go out whenever I can (which is practically every day) and can't resist doing crazy shit when the opportunity arises. Don't ever dare me to do something... you'd lose.

How I Participate in CS

I couchsurf whenever I can, and spread the word. I meet as many people as I can, and therefore don't sleep much :)

I would like to host more, but I've just arrived and I live in a single room in a big house 20 minutes from the Brno city center with my girlfriend.

I love showing people around. I've created Google maps (of Luxembourg, back when I lived there) for them to use when I can't guide them myself (if I'm working), and can ask some friends to come with us on short notice. There's the Batsignal to call Batman, and the Hatsignal to call Hatman & Co. Try it!

I also create funny and unusual meetings, such as the All Belgian Food Meeting, the Paintball & Barbecue Meeting, the Random Location Meeting (aka geohashing), Pub Crawls, the Floating Picnic, and so on.

Finally, I'm always the one jumping on a bike to go pick up lost couchsurfers. I'm surprised you don't already have my phone number!

CouchSurfing Experience

I have hosted people from Italy, France, Belgium, Luxembourg, China, Poland, Czech Republic, the USA, England, Sweden, Malaysia, Lithuania, Slovenia, Argentina, Hong-Kong, and Mexico. I've been hosted in Brussels, London, Trier, Lyon, Liège, Luxembourg, Strangnas (Sweden), Zagreb, Ljubljana, Praha, Olomouc, Brno, and have been to meetings in Luxembourg, Arlon, Vianden, Trier, Brussels, Liège, Namur, Saint Léger, Metz, Insenborn, Olomouc, Brno, and I probably forget something!

Interests

Seeing everything, everywhere! I love to meet new, interesting, different or strange people. I have just too much interest for everything to excel at anything (except Street Fighter II and staring contests). I do some parkour, hurt myself quite often, but go on anyway. What doesn't kill you... well, hurts you, but I don't mind :-) Still, I can show you a few -safe- tricks.

Philosophy

I say yes to everything that doesn't hurt anyone. But I still have common sense, so no, I won't buy you a Ferrari or kick that tattooed biker over there.

I'd rather have remorse than regrets.

Try to do to people what you would like them to do to you.

Il faut manger pour vivre et non pas vivre pour manger. De même qu’il faut boire pour vivre et non pas vivre sans boire, sinon c’est dégueulasse. (Desproges)

Music, Movies, Books

I couldn't possibly list them all. But I could share a lot, my hard drives are stuffed with -litterally - hundreds of movies and series, my bookshelf is too small for all the books I still have to read, and the same goes with music: I stil have dozens of albums I haven't listened to yet, of all kinds of music.

Types of People I enjoy

The only people I don't like are racists (Some of these people even beat the crap out of me for that...). If you're the kind of person who says "I'm not racist but...", I'll tell you there's no "but", so hit the road and go be stupid elsewhere. All the others are welcome.

Also, I won't host you if you send me the same message you sent to dozens of other people. There's a password on my profile, mention it in your request. That, and my name.

Teach, Learn, Share

I can show you around the city, of course.

I can show you some tricks in judo. This could be useful someday, and it's always fun when a 50 kilos girl realizes how easy it is to throw a 70 kilos guy on the floor! I won't teach anything that might hurt, though. Or I could also show you how to walk on your hands, run on a wall, silly stuff like that. You're welcome to show me more!

I can also find many things on the internet, or help you make your computer run better.

And, of course, I can show you interesting places in my hometown, in Belgium in general, and in Luxembourg.

Lately, I took my habit of jumping and climbing around a step further. I can now teach you how to wallrun, reach high heights on a wall, jump and roll, and soon how to do backflips (OK, I'm optimistic about backflips).

One Amazing Thing I've Seen or Done

I've been to Norway! Whoo! I've travelled all around Belgium, seen the best of my country! I've hitchhiked from Luxembourg to South of France via Lyon with a friend.

I decided someday to just say yes to almost everything. I still stick to this decision (except when I'm broke), and I have never had so many friends!

I was one of the many zombies on the Zombie Day in Brussels, on 24th November, 2007 and in 2010. Great events!

I've been ice skating on the frozen sea in Sweden.

I've been travelling by car, train, and bike in France, Switzerland, Hungary, Croatia, Slovenia and Czech Republic during two weeks, hosted by friends only, happily visiting everything I could on my weird folding bicycle.

And now, I've moved to Czech Republic! I know almost nothing about this place, which makes things even better!

Opinion on the CouchSurfing.org Project

I love CouchSurfing as a human community, as an inspiring experience. I support the initiative of devoted ambassadors to maintain the true spirit of our community: http://tinyurl.com/6fjaouo
I’m inviting CouchSurfing management to take into account volunteers’ voice and to develop a fair gratitude to their volunteers.

What do these numbers mean?

This summary is not a replacement for reading references; it's a quick summary to help you get started. At a glance, you can see how many references a member has, and how many of them are positive, neutral, and negative.

In the second line, you'll see how many references came from people who hosted this member, surfed with them, and traveled with them. These numbers won't always add up to the total: some references are not categorized, and some may be categorized as more than one thing.

When viewing this summary, don't jump to conclusions! Things that are negative for one person may be positive for another, and vice versa. It's important to read references carefully and evaluate what that information means to you.

Pierre was a FAB host and we had loads of stories to share about CSing and travels. Our bikes were quite the site down in the center of town where we discovered a food/beer fest and dodged the people in the street - what a great show we were!
I like hte fact that Pierre takes CSing as seriously/caringly as I do. He waited for me on the first day I was to arrive, my bad calendar notes due to cycling in and came back a second day to honor my request. It was quite the adventure to get to his place w/ our bikes on the tram and then the bus, Pierre will stop at nothing to make his guests feel supported. I appreciated his good humor and interesting sport, anyone would have a great time stayin w/ this fine chap!!

I was hosted by Pierre for one night. A very interesting and open person with a good sense of humor. On the first night had very interesting conversations about almost anything, sadly the next day I wasn't feeling too well so might not have been too talkative myself. But truly recommend surfing his place if you have the chance. But you must be warned, he is a really good ninja!
Btw, I washed your dishes, my way of repaying for drinking all your juice... =)

Many words have been written about Pierre and it's hard to add something new about him. I can repeat after Andrzej - he's the most active CS member I know - wow!

We met on a CS meetup in Luxembourg; me and my friend Andrzej hadn't a place to stay for a night in the city and Pierre offered his couch. Isn't it great? ;)

We had a short conversation, he told me about many valuable and interesting things - thank You for everything!

Pierre did his best to show me around in Arlon as well as his jumping skills and mother's bar in the living room. Instead of packing for next day's trip we HAPPENED TO play Wii through the night which was incredible fun. And after the day in the car on the way to Prague all I have to complain about is my cheeks hurting from all the laughing and smiling because the comedians we listened to were quite funny. And so was the geek music - I learned quite a lot in those two days and I'll use it on my geek friends as soon as possible :o)

If Pierre Blondell can’t do it, noone can--say goodbye to being a Yesman!!! :-)
I surfed in Arlon for one night with Pierre, with his lovely French flatmate also there.
But we’d communicated on CS previously, way before I left on my trip from Bali.
His CS Profile is very complete, and his hobbies and interests make him pretty neat.
He does comedy improv in Luxembourg, and takes to the streets to perform parcours.
Every month he visits his girlfriend in Czech; she must be cool--that’s quite a trek!
Pierre has irons in quite a few fires; the only drag is working 3 years with lawyers/liars.
Their mentality doesn’t suit him, and in fact brings him down.
But the great news is Pierre’s leaving town!
We talked 4HWW a lot--that’s Four Hour Workweek, a book whose plot
Is helping people discover their passions, and turn them into live plans of action.
Pierre was ready for a shift, and now has given himself a gift:
Leave the lawyers behind,
I’d like to nominate Pierre for a CS star: trusting me

Pierre was great! He accepted our last minute request, even though we were 5 people! He was an excellent host, he gave us Belgian beer, chocolates and even put belgian music in the background! He was very friendly and I'm very happy to have been hosted by him :)

In few words: Pierre is the devil.

But a funny one. Always with a plan or a conspiracy theory underneath the hat, can't cease to surprise you. Plus, he organized a great meeting in Arlon!
