关于我
I work full time in Financial Services and take most of my annual leave traveling overseas. To mix life up a bit I just completed a new degree in Tourism and Human Resource Management. Not to change jobs now, but to instead plan my future direction. For now it means I have time to pursue hobbies again. I prefer to follow the mantra of KISS. Keep it simple stupid.
I am perpetually single and therefore fiercely independent. I used to struggle with society's expectations that I should put my life on hold to find "the one". But now I've let go. She can find me. Instead I do what I enjoy. Meeting up and hosting international guests, and planning my next trip.
我为什么加入 Couchsurfing
Couchsurfing brings to me new friends and new cultural experiences. I love that I have friends from everywhere to meet up in the world. Sometimes hosting is just my escape from the routine.
PLEASE INCLUDE INTO YOUR REQUEST your preference for either
1) take a drive to the Mt Coot-tha LOOKOUT.
2) Get photos at the BRISBANE sign.
3) Having a night PICNIC dinner up at the Kangaroo Point Cliffs
4) Going for a BURGER and people watching at the Howard Smith Wharf precinct.

Food is the love of my life. Cooking, baking, eating. Sometimes when I travel I go to cooking schools just because they are how I best take an experience home with me. On the flip side exercise is how I offset my love of food.
Travel for me is not just laying beside a pool or sitting at a bar. Travel is about the experience. So I keep going to see it all. In 2018 I walked the Amalfi coast and cycled through Bavaria. 2019 included a short trip to the Pandas in Chengdu. I don't know what's next. But I've got ideas.

音乐、电影和书籍
Hot Fuzz is probably the best movie ever made for "the greater good". Travel author Brian Thacker has several good reads. "Where's Wallis, "Sleeping Around" (was on couchsurfing)
我做过的一件不可思议的事情
My favourite CS experience was riding a bike to a Beer Hall in Bamberg Germany with my host. That made the experience! Interestingly my host from Bamberg came to Brisbane in 2015. We had a great catch-up!

Experience I want you to take from me on Couchsurfing
1) Try planning more than 1 day ahead. You may be flexible, but often hosts are less so.
2) Don't expect a couch. Instead appreciate an offer when an offer is given.
3) Couchsurfing is not "just an idea to save money". Hosts have feelings. If it's all just take, take, take, then hosts stop hosting. Show and voice appreciation. It can cost nothing to do so by helping out with cleaning, cooking, and re-making the guest bed. Or give a small gift (fridge magnet, tea towels, wine, chocolates). Be sure to give back to your host as they have given up their home and time to host you.
4) You are potentially finding a life long friend. I try to meet up for guests when I visit their cities or towns.
5) Have a back-up plan in case your host cancels last minute. It happened to me early in my CS experience.
6) Do not waste other people's generosity or the environment. Turn off lights, appliances, and air-conditioning before leaving the host's apartment. And don't forget to lock the front door!

I enjoy making time to meet new members even after all this time. Normally I host by having dinner with my guest, show them a few places of Brisbane at night, and then leave my guests to explore the city during the day. I try somewhat to be a tour guide to Brisbane. I usually only host 2 to 3 nights in a row.
