Couch Information
Couch Available: Maybe Preferred Gender: Any No smoking allowed Has children: No Can host children: Yes Has pets: No Can host pets: No Max Surfers Per Night: 4
Shared Sleeping Surface: Depends Shared Room: DependsIn both cases only if it's their partner/friend Couch Booked 3rd and 4th April and UNAVAILABLE from 4th - 7th of May and 15th May to 5th June and 28th June-17th July,
Please Note: LISMORE IS A 3-31/2 HOUR DRIVE FROM DUBLIN. I have a spare bedroom with double bed and upstairs in the living area a comfortable double futon couch, both with bedding. There is also a second bathroom. Can host up to 4 people - what more can I say! I can host children, even though my profile says no - good well behaved one's that is!!
I live by myself in a small, pretty town off the beaten track - in that there is not much public transport except a mini-bus on Friday and Saturday from Dungarvan. I can pick up one person if necessary, in my van, if you are willing to contribute towards the fuel - it's a 50 Km round trip to Dungarvan and 60 Km to Cahir from Lismore and fuel has got very expensive!! When I'm home I'm happy to show people around - advise where to go etc. Also I am very happy to prepare a meal - vegetarian so people don't need to worry, though I do eat meat and fish - the evening you arrive, but it would be nice if people that are staying longer offer to cook a meal or buy a bottle of wine or contribute in some way - things are pretty tight these days!! The vast majority of my guest do this anyway, but it didn't seem to occur to some!!
Please be as acurate as you can with your dates and let me know as soon as possible if you are not coming - I do have a life and I get a lot of requests and often need to co-ordinate dates.

Personal DescriptionLate starter - went to college in my mid 40's when my children were more or less taken care of - though 2 ended up in college with me - one doing sculpture, the other painting. Love travelling specially to do with ceramics and have been to Australia, Turkey, Estonia, Spain, Cuba, Croatia, Latvia, France, Poland, USA and Belarus for ceramic events. Later on in 2011 I will be travelling to Korea and Japan to take part in International Ceramic Festivals there. How I Participate in CSFrom 2007- 2009, I'd only had two couchsurfers managing to make their way to Lismore and one of those was Irish- suddenly I had around 12 in 2010 and in 2011 I have had over 30 people staying with me in Lismore. I've already had my first CS's for 2012!! My visitors have ranged in age from 19 to 71 and I have enjoyed hosting each and every one of them.CouchSurfing ExperienceSo far I have CouchSurfed in Kracow, Poland; Athens, Greece; Varazdin, Croatia; Tramore, Ireland and Berlin, Germany. What do these numbers mean?
This summary is not a replacement for reading references; it's a quick summary to help you get started. At a glance, you can see how many references a member has, and how many of them are positive, neutral, and negative.
In the second line, you'll see how many references came from people who hosted this member, surfed with them, and traveled with them. These numbers won't always add up to the total: some references are not categorized, and some may be categorized as more than one thing.
When viewing this summary, don't jump to conclusions! Things that are negative for one person may be positive for another, and vice versa. It's important to read references carefully and evaluate what that information means to you. References (34)34Positive 0Neutral 0Negative

From Iveta Hlavenkova Leeds, England Apr 22 Positive Jane was an excellent host! I stayed with her for 4 days and I really enjoyed my time in Lismore. I had my own comfortable room and my own bathroom, both beautifully decorated with Jane´s art pieces. Jane is very kind and genuine person, very wise, optimistic, spontaneous and full of energy. She let me try my piece of art from clay and patiently answered my numerous questions! I enjoyed our conversations about various topics as well as listening to the stories from her travels and about her family. Jane is not only an amazing artist (and photographer!), but also a great companion and cook - the stew was delicious! Thank you, Jane, for everything, taking me to the castle, showing me around, recepies, CD.. Also the lift was very much appreciated. There is so much more I could write about.. My recommendation to all couchsurfers: If you are looking for a perfect CS host, you have just found her!
From TAHIYAT Landshut, Germany Apr 17 Positive I would like to go back to Jane immediately, stay with her for a while and share her life. She welcomed us with a grande meal, fresh backed bread and other lovely stuff which I will need to try to cook at home and if I should succeed, my family will love me. We talked a lot about various subjects, had new insights in Irish politics, how one can survive without electricity and the benefit of it. I especially was fascinated to meet a real artist (and Irish on top) and to listen to her travel-stories was very interesting, her freshly made artwork fascinating. Unfortunately we had arrived by plane. I‘m looking forward to her visit in October. A million thanks, Jane!
From Virginie et Aurelien Blateyron-Albaladejo Clermont-Ferrand, France Jan 25 Positive We stayed just one night with Jane, but it was very nice, she s very welcoming and lives in a beautiful house. She s a great artist, and now we want to try potery ;-)
From Shannon Keller Seoul, South Korea Nov 6, 2011 Positive Jane was an exciting person to have in our house - she is a fun, gracious, and tidy guest! She has lots of stories to share and we really enjoyed talking to her, especially about her work as an artist. Despite being thwarted by difficult bus drivers, she remained unbelievably positive about her situation and even braved the city again the very next day! We hope the remainder of her Asian adventures are smooth and wonderful. If we ever find ourselves in Ireland we'll definitely be looking her up! Best of luck!
From BOBGIL Cork, Ireland (Republic of) Oct 30, 2011 Positive Jane is just!!!! a exceedingly lovely & genuine person, "my guarding angel",helping me beyond the coarse of friendship.
From Nancy Kurstin Homewood, United States Oct 4, 2011 Positive My sister and I had our first couch surfing experience with Jane. It couldn't have been a better start. We had some bumps along the way traveling to Ireland, including missing baggage for two days. On our first chilly night we were met with a delicious meal of(my first Irish stew) and Irish soda bread (the best we tasted in Ireland, I'm not kidding!). Jane was most hospitable, giving us shoes, clothing and toiletries. She even stayed around home for the luggage to arrive so we could go sightseeing. Her home is charming with a lovely garden. The walls are filled with interesting and meaningful art. But her ceramics are amazing. She showed us her little studio and we learned a lot about the process. The town of Lismore is a real find, complete with it's own castle and charming lanes. Jane's led an interesting life, well two lives as she puts it. She is inspirational and kind. It was a pleasure getting to know her. (and Jane, the rest of the trip was a snap-no worries)
From Gisela Kamke Hamburg, Germany Sep 21, 2011 Positive she picked us up at trinity college and we shared a nice meal with jane in dublin.she then took us around in town, showing us sculptures her husband had created. it was great fun being with her and we would have loved to stay with her in lismore, but our dates did not work out after all. hope to keep in contact and stay with her in the future or have her staying with me.
it was our first meeting in ireland and we thorougly enjoyed it.
hope to see you again some time!
From Markéta Lančová Olomouc, Czech Republic Sep 12, 2011 Positive It was such a great experience to stay at Jane's place! She is very nice person, full of energy and inspiration, her ceramics is amazing, her bookshelves full of interestig stuff... I really wish to meet her again!!!
From Sarah Levesque Mickler Raleigh, United States Sep 6, 2011 Positive It was awesome to meet Jane. She welcomed me in from the rain with hot tea and soup and we talked about her career in ceramics and she showed me some of her work. She is so inspiring! We had a lovely evening together with one of her friends, and in the morning I was sorry to leave; I hope to keep in touch with her.
