Groups I Belong ToCouch Information
No couch currently available for surfing. I live in Humboldt Park. If you're trying to buy a home or condo though you might be told that I live in West Wicker Park or West Bucktown.
My household contains Abby and myself.
We have one large couch, a spare bedroom with air mattress and I tuck away a twin bed.
No pets allowed. I don't know who would travel with a pet, but I don't plan on hosting that person. Maybe if you have a bird, or some form of non-mammal. Then maybe.
We don't smoke. Has to be done outside.
What isn't there to do around here? I moved here because this is where the party is!
Blue Line is within 10 minutes walking time.
During the week, I can show you around. On weekends, I can show you around at night. Every night is a great night to go out. I am, after all, a tour guide.
I prefer to go to bed late. Later than late, usually. Bars here are open until 4am.
Honestly, weekdays are best only because you'll get more time to hang out with your host. Either way, if I'm in town then I'm around.
Blankets? Yeah!
How many days? This is a big city. Make yourself at home.
Contact me no more than 7 days in advance of your stay. My schedule and temperament cater to the last minute crowd.
Rules:
1. Introduce yourself after reading my profile.
2. Have a sense of adventure.
3. Say thanks.

I'm quite the fan of riding my bikes. Since I tend to travel and have to abandon bikes that I've worked on, I have them scattered in several cities so that I have convenient transportation when I get to town.
If anybody is into that whole Myers-Briggs temperament sorting, I am the ESTP.
*******************************************UPDATE
I'm going to let all of the above stay on here as long as I'm part of the community because those are the original words that I used to start up my little profile.
I travel a lot. I move a lot, in many ways.

This is one of the things that made me laugh when reading about the ESTP, or myself.
How I Participate in CSI travel frequently. So, I seek out people who look like they'd like to be more active in the community but just haven't found the right opportunity. Then, I say hello.

In Defense of Food: An Eater's ManifestoTypes of People I enjoyI enjoy meeting people that love the place they call home. Being told where to go and what to do is something that is always worth discovering with a little help from a local. Otherwise, I'm just not going to use my time as effectively. I've met some people whom I ended up having to show them where fun is found in their city. It was still a good time, but hearing that "there is nothing to do here" will always be a cause for some frustration and disbelief.Teach, Learn, ShareWhat do I wish I had known when I first joined the project?
You can do far more than host or surf!
Click that Events tab at the top menu and sniff around for an event near you. If you're extremely new and just signed up because you have travel plans in your future then local CS events are your best chance to start building your little network.
Don't see an event in your area? Then why not make one? After you know what you want to do, perform a CouchSearch for people in and surrounding your hometown. Now, begin creating your event. Post it! Then you can look at your cute little event page and MORE IMPORTANTLY, send out invitations. There is a button for sending invitations, and once you click it the option will appear send invitations out to a recent CouchSearch. After that, it will only be a matter of time before people begin telling you why they can't make it, but that's okay. People that you've never heard from will likely show and it'll be a great time. :D

From Ben Leventer Kalamazoo, United States Jan 5 Positive Kent welcomed me into his home and was hell-bent on showing me a good time (which was awesome! and very encouraging). He not only showed me around the town but he took me to some excellent food joints around town, and you should definitely ask him about "THE EGG." I had a great time and because of my excellent time, my new new years resolution is to be more active on coachsurfing.
From Lisa Findley Chicago, United States Oct 26, 2008 Positive I met Kent and Abby at the Holiday Club and we talked about cheap beers, Wicker Park, and recommending food to out-of-towners. Take care..

From Zhi Li Gaithersburg, United States Jul 18, 2008 Positive It's a shame they took away "Extremely Positive" because this man truly deserves it. Kent is by far the coolest ambassador I've met. This, despite him stuffing me in a closet and blinding me with that gold watch. I still don't know how this man drinks vodka with such abandonment. I'm thankful that he jazzed up my phone and gave me tips on self-promotion. Looking forward to the revival of CrazyKent!
