Dave is a great guy !

 

Dave kindly put three of us up in his Wimbourne residence, allowing us to stay an extra night and sacrificing his right to be somewhat waspish when we woke him up at half past midnight.
We didn't really get much chance to hobnob but occassionally on CS you meet people like Dave who omitt a kind of candescent glow of all things intelligent and alive.

Another top fella. Highly intelligent and highly interesting - I'm always learning things from Dave, and they are good things to learn. Really sound bloke but hard to pin down as he always seems to be shooting off somewhere haha!

We met CS meeting in Bournemouth and had a good and tough time because of understanding English for me. haha
But i think i am lucky i met nice ppl
It is shame we didn't go to Casino ;)

I met Dave on a the "Ice Skating" CS meeting here in Bournemouth. I couldn't join them to Ice Skating but I did joined them to a drink on the Pub right after were I had the chance to talk to Dave. He is a very nice guy, very friendly, and he made me think about how I'm going to distribute my future films! :)

i meet Dave at the Dec meeting we went ice skating A good guy who gave me a lift to my mates house. I am sure he would help anyone in need a really great guy.

We met Dave through our housemate Stephen when he came to visit Cambridge. He stayed over two nights, lunched with us, and introduced us to the world of Couch Surfing. We can only hope that other members are as friendly and entertaining as he was.

Heard alot of positive things about Dave before I met him as he is the Bournemouth Ambassador and met at a recent CS meeting. He enlightened me with his knowledge of open source software and had a chance to discuss things from fonts to design:) He is a really cool guy that one feels delighted to meet! Hope to spend more time together.

Dave and I used to go to school together and despite not knowing him directly we shared a few freinds. Looking forward to seeing how he has faired over the years.

Dave hosted me and my boyfriend in his house 2 nights. He is really interesting guy who knows much things about everything...We went in pub with him and his friends from school and they are so nice.We enjoyed in his place, with his sisters and his friends. Dave, thank you so much...

 

Dave is easy to talk to and very friendly. I didn't know anyone when I first arrived but he made me feel welcome from the start. Have met a few times now and I've enjoyed chatting with him. Really cool and smart guy, worth getting to know.

ive known dave for 10 years or so. he's an extremely intelligent guy with a great personality.

 

We met while attending to a Free Software meeting in Mont-de-Marsan, because the same host welcome us.

Met while meeting mutual friend, Jennie, whom I climbed Kili with. Dave has a wonderfully wry sense of humour and was very easy to talk to!

 

Dave Crossland changed my life. He wrote a CS refernce for me( after our first meet) and mentioned that I am an ENTP (Myers Briggs psychological profile)he recognised the symptoms of the disease because he is one too. Intrigued (we ENTP's are naturally very curious...) I learned all aboutit....now so many aspects of my life make absolute sense for the first time! brilliant deduction Dave.

Dave has a lot of energy and is a great ambassador for Bournemouth. We found out that we had met in our past as lecturer and student around 6 years ago at Art College. What a small world!

Dave was an awesome host for me and my friend Marie!! He helped us a lot with the transport in Dorset and also brought us to the nice folk music festival in his town Wimborne. We had the opportunity to meet his friends and learn a lot from Dave, who is an amazing person to discuss with.

Dave was telling me that there's this couch surfer in Bournemouth who lives in a big mansion and has a massive swimming pool.
That sounds a fantastic place to stay. So if I am ever in Bournemouth I'll probably stay there. If Dave is around maybe I'll give him a call and he can buy me a beer ;)

saw him only once, and for a very short time - but he managed to make a deep imppresion on me - as he was so friendly and knowledgable. hope to see you again sometimes,maybe in your quiet town in the south...:)

Dave is such a friendly person that after only 2 seconds we were talking, i felt like old school time friends.. He seems to be a wonderful host and has great stories to tell. Oh! And he agrees that South America is heart-shaped! =)

We meet randomly from time to time (once every 16 months ;). However they are always very positive meetings. Dave is a very intersting companion in conversations. He is a bright and intelligent person with unforgettable voice ;)
Probably we'll meet up by chance again in a while :)

I had a really good chat with Dave and I left him thinking that I had learnt something valuable. I wish you only the best things with your future and life in general.

Dave is the guy that has make me discover CS, when he was couchsurfing in Poland! And now, 4 days after having join, he's my first friend on it. Knowing him a bit, and reading about CS, he totally fit with the perfect Csurfer guy silhouette: highly attach to open values, traveler, dynamic, passionate and extremely brilliant in the typographic field and gifted with a big smile!

My friend sent a massage to Dave asking him if we could stay in his place during our trip to England. It turned out that earlier he was planning to go to Wroclaw on the conference. So we arranged meeting with him in Poland, and than we arrived to Bournemouth to live with him for a few days. He is very intelligent, hospitable guy, having his home open for every couchsurfer. Really nice man!

Dave is an extra guy! First we've met in Wroclaw, when he came to conference. We had a wonderful time talking, laughing and drinking in nice pubs with few of my friends. We've seen Big Bug Bunny cartoon, it was hilarious. He's intelligent and really open- minded. He has HUGE sense of humour. Love your loud laughter!:)
Two weeks later we came to Dave's cute house in England, where was about 12 couchsurfers! Amazing experiance:) Dave painted some special maps for us if we didn't know how to get somewhere. He was really super nice and wanted to help us with many things. Hope to see You soon Dave! You are welcome in Wroclaw anytime!:)

I met Dave when he was for a few days in Wrocław. We talked a lot about his job and hobbies. He is really interesting guy! And thanks a lot for movie. Big Buck Bunny was wonderful :)
After that I with my 2 friends were hosted by Dave in his house. There was a lot of fun and a lot of kind people! Thanks a lot for everything. It was a pleasure to meet you and your friends!

I had a mega awesome time at Dave's place. He let me stay on very short notice, picked me up from the station, & was just an all round good host & good person. I had a great time at Dave's with him & all his many friends & fellow couchsurfers!

Dave is a fantastic bloke.
He actually introduced me to couchsurfing in 2006 and since then i've hosted, surfed and loved the community around CS culture.

Dave's always got new CS stories to share. I very much recommend meeting him.

I hosted Dave for 2 nights. He's a damn smart and very friendly guy! He's a perfect person to talk with about any topic! If you are somewhere around him he can put you in a very good mood:) I hope we will stay in touch and that we can meet some day again in Wroclaw, Bournemouth or...:)

Dave's an awesome guy: he always has something interesting to talk about - even the smallest conversation with him can open your eyes to new ideas and possibilities, or offer new perspective on your own knowledge of a subject (and he's a very tolerant host!!)

Dave was a very nice person to meet. He looked as a very responsible person who cares about others a lot. Hope to meet him again soon!

Although we did not see him too much we had a good time with Dave. I had no idea what he and Mathijs where talking about when they spoke about programming and stuff but it was still fun listening to it and trying out the "one laptop per child""-laptop. Dave is a very friendly and polite guy!

 

I met Dave a couple times during his visit to Seattle. He is a damn smart guy with some great stories. I hope our paths will cross again down the road.

First a very very big "Thank You" to dave and his both sisters for hosting me for such along time and especially to Dave for driving me every morning to my bus so I could get to work.
What Dave did as a "long-term-host" was just perfect for me: not too much and not too less.
He was not organizing the guests day like other people sometimes but there was enough time we spent together to find out a little aboout each other. Cooking and eating together, going for bowling and long and great conversations in the evenings. Especially those conversation which sometimes ended up in discussions is sth. every guest of Dave should have. For topics and themes he is talking about he can develop such an enthusiasm that it is nearly unbelievable. he can be really happy and fascinated about things like I know it only from children... but in contrast to the most kids he really knows what he is talking about.
Even if our lifestyles maybe a little different (for a good reason!) I must admit that I enjoyed the time in his home very very much! Smart, caring, friendly and a real good soul!
Hope we have the opportunity to spend much more time together in future.

Not sure what to say about someone who calls me a "nerd" -- back in the day, that was kind of an insult! But oh well, if Dave's a nerd then it can't be all that bad and I guess I'll be one, too.

I had a great time hanging out with and talking to Dave, and have to offer up kudos to him for having the energy to meet up with our Seattle group so many times in the week he was here. When I (finally) make it the the UK, it'll be a treat to hit him up for a couch in Bournemouth, and I hope he returns to Seattle sometime soon, too.

 

I met Dave in the Bournemouth Town Centre where we had planned a mini-CS meeting - 2 of total 3 present were CSers :) Dave is an extremely warm and polite person who is really into the free software movement, though he still listened patiently to other side of the argument :) And, he seems inquisitve about India and other things...hope we get to hang around more and exchange ideas.

 

It was my pleasure to meet and host Dave when he visited Seattle. I could tell very quickly upon meeting him that he is a guy with a large heart (I think it was his big warm smile). He is friendly, outgoing, intelligent, and a truly respectful, and easy-going guest. Definitely host, travel, stay or hang with him if you can.

 

Dave's praeternatural disposition to free software is much preferable to the more ubiquitous culture of one car per person.

Proof: his current work is font freedom for a language with no prepositions or articles and sentences which, if with at most one subject, object and verb, are complete with only 1 of 3 and finish always with the verb. But even this is not rigid.

Dave's a trouper! He had flown into Seattle a mere 24 hours prior but still managed to make the multiple-bus ride from his host's home across town to our CS bi-weekly gathering. Jetlag didn't even phase him! Seems a well-traveled guy. It was a pleasure chatting with you, Dave (long live free software ;)!

hes a dude, got alot of interesting stuff to talk about and is generous in the lending of places to sleep!

Dave is a really nice guy ;D we meet up for dinner and some salsa lessons. The experience was great!! I will repeat hehehe.

Dave confirmed my couch request almost immediately after I had requested. He was a wonderful host willing to show me around. He wouldn't mind me being curious about local delicasies and he would appreciate my openness and humour. We had a good laugh and various enriching discussions about the English and other matters. We stayed in touch and became friends and I came to see him again 9 months later.

We met at a CS meet in Bournemouth. Even if we didn't talk together for a long time, he seems to be a very interesting person with a lot of knowledge to share. We have to talk about education next time!

Dave is that kind of smiling person, whose smiles spread energy to other beings around him. He loves his computer (well, he loves any computer) and tries to help people. That's what I recognized during short time meeting him in Richmond. Good job, good life. Keep laughing.

It was a pleasure to meet Dave at a CS meeting in Richmond. I was fascinated by his commitment and his passion for all the things he told me about. He has so many interesting stories to tell and things to say. I hope to meet him again, once I have read thousands of books to continue the interesting, entertaining conversation.

Dave was a great host, we went to a nice Pub in Wimborne together and had a really interesting conversation about educational systems; hope the OLPC will have success.

I met Dave a couple of time and I must say he has a friendly and positive attitude which makes him one hell of a great company. I enjoyed all discussions we had together and he is always ready to help and even go out of the path to come to give you a hand. Great spirit!

Dave is a great guy and I don't know anyone who doesn't like him. I guarantee you will fall into conversation easily and have a great time whatever you get up to :)

I got to know Dave at an Open Translation Tools conference in Zagreb. He's an incredibly bright person & a great conversationalist. He's a very warm person and an active endorser of Couchsurfing. If you meet him, ask about fonts vs. typefaces. :-))

I had a great weekend in Bournemouth! Dave is a perfect host, we had nice converstions, it was nice to go out with him and meet some of his friends, he even gave us a lift to get to his house!

After a long journey home he picked us up in the middle of the night and drove us home. We had some interesting conversations about various topics.

Only met for a short time but long enough for Dave to convince me that designing typefaces is interesting. Must be cool.

 

Dave is an interesting guy with a passion for software freedom and all that it entails. A really good bloke with his heart in the right place. You are welcome whenever you fancy venturing out in the sticks Dave.

 

Dave was really nice and even though he was out of town when I arrived he did everything he could to help me find a place to stay. He brought me to a meeting and I had the chance to meet a few people from CS in Bournemouth (some were even speaking french!!!). He also intoduce me to many of his friends, we have had long discussions on many topics: psychology, environnemental and social issues until quite late at night. He and his friends will be welcome in my house anytime!

Dave is a trust worthy, kind and organized guy. he will go out of his way to make sure you're comfortable. He is also interesting and intelligent and gives sound advice. His computer skills are unmatched. Friendly and easy going guy who recommended couch surfing to me

He sent me a Couchsurfing meeting invitation which I missed unfortunately, but we met two days later and had a entertaining and interesting evening out at a pub. He and his friends are really cool people and I think I will meet them again soon -> Definitely a very nice guy you should not miss! We met again twice before I had to leave Bournemouth and we had a fantastic time rocking the dancefloor and playing billard like experts ;-)

Dave was the perfect guest: sensitive, sweet, funny , intelligent, and extremely well read (he even charmed my flatmate). Dave, I cannot thank you enough for the way in which you effortlessly sweeped my laptop into the 21st century.

Dave is good people, He's a clever and considerate chap, and I'm glad our paths crossed in Boston. This is the kind of guy you'd want to have around, talkative, and yet considerate enough to let me babble incessantly!

We couldn't have had a better host to start our couchsurfing experience. We stayed with Dave and his sister for one night. We had a very interesing chat about lots of different things and cooked supper together in the evening. Dave also gave us a few tips what to see and what to do in the area the next day. Dave´s been really nice to Franzi and me when we stayed at Floh´s house in April. He shared a chocolate bar with us the very best reason to like him;)

I had never been to any coushsurfing meetings before, It was my first one and it was great, I spoke with Dave for about an hour i realy enjoyed talked with him about our own experience.

Dave is one of the nicest guys I have met through cs, he has a zest for life that makes him a pleasure to be around!
He can talk about everything with passion and belief, but can still play a decent game of pool!

Dave has braved crossing the streets of boston, boogied down to bluegrass, bar hopped in cambridge, built friendships with countless strangers, brushed elbows with the big boys in the free software movement, breezed through the contemporary art museum, and always brings a positive attitude with him. He was an outstanding guest. Respectful, clean, kind; everything i could have hoped for.

 

I hooked up with Dave for a few drinks with some fellow couch surfing people. He's a great conversationalist and probably the coolest font designer I've ever met. Hopefully our paths cross again in the future!

I ran into Dave at the Boston Indie Film Festival and we went out for food. Ended up talking about Free Software, fonts, and all sorts of fun stuff. I hope to see him the next time I'm in the UK!

it was definitely cool... i couldn't have asked for more. had a lot of interesting conversation (i learned many things). had a good time hanging out with him and his friends (hope to make it to one of his sister's house parties sometime, haha). but ya, dave is a very cool, very generous guy.

Dave (cool name though) is a really nice guy. He is like an exact copy of some old school friens of mine (well, an english version at least), since his odd/'non-main-stream' opinion about computers, communication, education and such. That leads (and has lead) to some very interesting conversations and discussions. I can just say he is a really nice guy

It was great that he was able to accommodate all the three of us even though it was quite a short notice (I think I contacted him a few days in advance).
