Iskundar Haddad

I surfed with Isky for about a week in Berkeley in August of '09. We had an awesome time. We had some great adventures in SanFran and Berkeley. We painted cheese on the roof of his co-op, biked around sanfran, hit up a couch surfing event, and went to the EXPLORATORIUM. He was a great host. Isky's a friendly, cuddly and wonderful person. Wherever he is these days definitely consider surfing with him or putting him up. Not to mention he's probably the most enthusiastic couch surfing fan you will ever meet.

I only remembered his name because it rhymed with an alcoholic drink. :)

Isky is funny, personable,and a great masus. I cant wait to visit you when you get all set up in the city.

Isky was my first Couchsurfing experience and he made it one of the coolest things ever. I really really hope that I can host him again in the future. He is super fun to talk to.

 

I had an excellent time with Isky. We sang Fat Freddy's Drop on our bikes, went contra dancing, and had a killer jam session. Isky is full of life and is highly engaging. This was hard for some people in our community to deal with and unfortunately Isky left under less than great circumstances. However I believe these misunderstandings could have been worked out in a reasonable manner and I wouldn't have to be writing about it right now. Rock on Isky!

 

My experience with Isky still leaves me with mixed feelings. He didn't wash a dish and initially gave my roommates and friends a bad vibe.

My friends (especially the girls) at the Domes felt uncomfortable with him, especially when they all got a little tipsy. It is immediately apparent that he has a good heart and is looking for love like anyone else, but needs some help taking social cues sometimes.

 

Isky is adventurous, caring, and honest. I hosted him for about a week, and we had a great time at Lovefest together.

I feel that I should also mention that my house was not a very good fit for Isky. He is going through a rough time, and not everyone was receptive to the level of emotional engagement that he exuded. He's certainly an eccentric character who does best with very emotionally extroverted and open individuals.

I was really happy to be roommates with Iskundar, and really sad that it was only for a month. He is one of the most open persons and really shares life and everything in it with others. I admire the passion with which he takes on everything that this world has to offer. I would love to go on adventures with Iskundar -- I'll learn so much.

Isky is an awesome dude. Always down for an adventure and good company. He's thoughtful and always willing to lend a helping hand.

Isky is a very interesting guy. We didnt get to surf his couch, but we did hang out for a night. It was very fun getting to see a Co Op, especially one as big as CZ. Talking with him was very fun. We plan to go back to california so we hope to see you around!

Isky is such a sweet guy, who wants nothing more than for you to have an awesome time in Berkeley. He was ideal to stay with - knew the area and the tricks, happy to join me for adventures and totally supportive of my own. He really put in the effort to make me feel at home in his incredible place of residence. And right at the end.. we sung a song together that I won't be forgetting any time soon. Isky, you're a legend and a champion and don't let anybody ever take that from you :-)

Isky was my roommate for a month and a half at the Casa Zimbabwe co-op in Berkeley were I resided when I met him. Together we hosted many couchsurfers.

You can't go wrong if you're couchsurfing with Isky! If you are in the area to have a good time he is your man! He knows most of the sights and fun times and will not hesitate to show them to you and make your stay with him unforgettable!

Isky is playful and colorful who is willing to engage in conversations about most any topic while always remaining genuinely engaged and interested! He really does want to know and understand what you have to say! Sometimes he thinks quick so remember to be on your toes when he asks a question!

I loved having Isky as my roommate in the summer of 2009! He will make your stay comfortable and wonderful! You'll feel quite at home.

From CS forums to spin the bottle, Isky proves over and over to be more alive than anyone has a right to be.

It was a very last-minute kinda thing, and one of those events that I'm really glad happened, because Isky is the kind of person who comes into your life in a butterfly-effect sort of way that will reverberate forever and become a part of one's homespace, become a part of the very foundations, the very fortune and future, of my home.

Iskundar not only is incredibly warm and caring, but also has impeccable taste in cinema. A rare and delightful combination, indeed!

 

Very nice to hang out with-- very personable and easily befriended! He has great stories, good energy, and seems to be around a lot. He also goes to my school!

 

Iskundar- what a name to begin with. I had trouble remembering it but he was always quick to recall facts about my life. Iskundar is a dedicated person pursuing his passion. very few individuals are like him. It's always a serendipitous time when we meet.

It's not hard to understand why Iskundar loves to travel: He's more eager to learn about the world than nearly anyone I've ever met. And having been a traveler for so long, he has quite a bit to teach at this point as well. I can't wait to see where he'll be in five years.

 

Isky was a generous and helpful host. I found him to be authentic thoughtful animated and funny. Cheers brother.

Isky is one of the most energetic and interesting individuals I have ever met, and you will surely have a great time with him if you avail yourself of the opportunity. A truly kind and caring person--and open to meeting all kinds of people. He recently put us up for a few nights at his co-op, which was a wonderful experience. Zandar was an interesting and helpful guest while he was surfing our couch. He is a man of wide interests and knowledge who is quite willing to share his knowledge, time, energy and questions. I was very pleased to have had him as our first couch surfer.

We host a lot of CSers. He is the funniest I've met. Welcome at our place anytime.

 

Even though his stay with me was a mere layover, even just one good talk with this guy was a fantastic journey of stories and ideas. Zander is a real sweet guy and his gentle spirit was a blessing to my home.

I hosted Zander after he posted in the Santa Fe group that he "desperately needed cool people to hangout with". I didn't plan on hosting him but he called me a few days before he was supposed to arrive in Santa Fe and told me he needed a place to stay. So he's the first person I've hosted who never sent me a CouchRequest. He definitely had some interesting stories and was very extroverted but he came off as offensive when I don't think he was trying to be. I didn't say anything at the time because he was only in town for a night and I just wanted to keep the night moving along. No drama. Yet in one night Zander insulted my friends and my roommate and spent two hours crying at a party that he coerced me into bringing him to. I like eccentric people and I definitely think Zander is a good guy deep down. He was going through a hard time when he got to Santa Fe so I don't feel anger but rather than sympathy as a result of the way he acted.

 

Zander was a kind (and very tired) soul. Interesting to talk to, and a gracious guest.

My first couch surfer, really keeps you on your toes. Definitely would recommend.

 

Zander is a high energy kid, super sarcastic (I still don't know if the times I though he was joking he really was), who seems to be looking for and entertained by interesting, kinetic people that don't fit his view of bland America. Definitely a cuddly person, trying to challenge norms. He was perhaps too self-interested for my taste, but I hope that he continues to find wild people who can share a little more creatively their views as his attention span is short and his mouth fast. I wish I'd had more options to present while he surfed with me, but he seemed happy with the small adventures we had.

Perhaps it was a conflict of interest, but Zander left my roommate and I very
unsettled. He was extremely upset and cried on our couch for the majority of the time we spent with him. He assumed we would allow him to stay alone in our apartment all day while we were in class after a night spent crying in our apartment. Zander is looking for open-minded people, but was very condescending when his stories of
alternative sexual escapes were met with anything less than enthusiasm. I would reccommend Zander to EXTREMELY open-minded, alternative individuals. He was asked to leave early.

Zander opened his heart and his mind while staying at my place. He offered healing and fun. I look forward to following his path to California.

Zander stayed with me a couple of weeks while he was in Seattle. He made us a food, played with my dog, got drunk with me. He was an overall good time. Good luck on your travels throu America and super good luck on finding the right college!

 

I refused Zander's original couch request b/c we did not have the room/time. I mentioned that if really stuck then to call as we may be able to help for a night or two. He called me the day he arrived and that they still had no host. I explained that our apartment was a war zone w/ BM preparations and we were also expecting another emergency surfer that night. In the end, as it was an emergency I agreed to allow them to surf at our place. When they arrived I clearly told them they could stay for 2 nights. I reminded them their last night to remember to leave the key when they left the next morning. I text them to come pick-up their stuff when I found it still in our apartment after returning from work. And yet Zander was surprised that we were expecting them to leave that day.
I would like to assume that had we more time to interact I would have seen more positive traits, but as it was he left me w/ the impression of the arrogance of youth & that he somehow felt the world owed him.

 

Zander is wonderful. He is relaxed and very easy to accommodate, fitting right in to any situation. He has an inquiring mind and really enjoys meeting people and exploring his environment. Totally friendly, entertaining, and a cuddle-bear, Zander was a joy to host. We played geography games and laughed a lot. My whole family (I live with my parents and brother) loved having him here and can't wait to host him again!

Initially negative, but updated to neutral after some consideration as Zander is not generally a bad person - maybe just a little arrogant.
Zander's initial couch request to me felt a little too pretentious so I declined. My roommate, Jenn, accepted his request a few weeks later as it had become an emergency and he had no host. It seemed he and his gf spent all day on the couch, fighting with each other - I don't think they saw the sights at all! At 1 point I hear he was in my bedroom for TWO HOURS without my permission while I was at work (apparently the wifi signal was better in there).
He assumed he could stay longer than advised (2 nights) and acted surprised when Jenn told him to leave. We never even got a thank you for hosting him at the last minute.
From my perspective, it seems like Zander's view of CS is that people should provide for him. Sure, he's the life of the party, but when it comes to appreciating what CS is about I just don't think he gets it.

 

Great guy actually, always looking for adventure and always up for a good time. He's also got lot's of interesting things to say, I'm just sorry I couldn't have hosted him and his friend Brit for a longer period of time. No joke though mate, if ever you're in a bind and need a place to crash let me know, I'll see what I can work out! Definitely recommended.

one of my top people i met in orlando. he has such a big heart and makes you feel loved the moment you see him.

 

I was immediately drawn to Zander and his hat. We chatted for just a bit, but I'm looking forward to seeing more of him at Burning Man soon!

Completely amazing! I was surprised! He sings, he jungles with many different things and have even a cutie Japanese hat ^^ So, don't be afraid and go talk to him and be prepare to laugh a lot!

Zander and Brit where the bouncy enthousiastic duo From the Great state of Flarda. It was nice to see their joy and enthousiasm as they settled into a few days of camping in BC. Between the two of them their is more personality than you'll know what to do with. Enjoy the rest of your journey, eh.

Zander opened my eyes to the reality's of the south as he knew them. It was great to hear his perspective on what he had seen so far. One day we'll have to have another talk once i've traveled enough to bring a bit more to the table.

 

We went to the same college together, briefly, and did some traveling and road-trips and such during that time. He's great company, very interesting to be around, and he really likes listening and learning about new interesting things.

Zander is an awesome person, super nice and soft spoken. He got along with everyone, my friends who met him also thought he was great.... he definately got me addicted to the electronic sheep. Hopefully I will run into him and Brittany in the near future

I first met Zander at a potluck (Progressive Council)and a few months later we had class together. Zander is an unforgettable person and like no one I know. A free spirit. He is open to any type of conversation, whether it be about languages, cultures or simply, a fly on the wall. He is energetic, genuinely unconventional, intelligent and will make you laugh! Zander is a soft and intelligent guy, and very insightful for his young age. He was really excited by my french toast (not sure how much of that was out of politeness :), and we had some interesting chats.

Zander is a true ambassador--affable and flexible, spontaneous and agreeable. He, his girlfriend, and their Finnish stowaway brought adolescence back to our house. In a more manageable way than when me and my brother were his age.

I love this guy! I had the pleasure of having him around for a few days, when he couchsurfed my place during his "Big American Tour trip". He is fun, positive, dynamic. I've known Iskundar for years and just visited with him for a week this past spring. He's one of the most adventurous, friendly, and sincere people I've ever known. He's both a wonderful person and great partner-in-crime. Iskundar's a 'never met a stranger' type who really appreciates the whole couchsurfing experience. He's absolutely worth visiting with if you find yourself in Berkley!

I got to meet Zander when he joined us for the Philly-NYC invasion while he was visiting Philly. He was very energetic and friendly and got along well with everyone. Then I was lucky to meet up with him again in NYC for International CS day. I just love this guy's charismatic smile and his zest for fun. I highly recommend meeting up with him during his travels.

One of the most personable people ever. He can jump into any group, and feel instantly at home - which will be helpful on his massive road trip. He has great taste in beer along with lots of amazing stories to tell.

I met Zander about a year ago in Philadelphia while he was on a pretty cool road trip. He's a pretty cool guy and I hope to bump into him again sometime!

Zander and Brittany are great people, taking a trip I wish I took when I was 18. He introduced me to a BADASS band (Fat Freddy's Drop) and is a wonderful, rubbery dancer. His divergent manner of conversation reminds me of my own.

They just have a really good energy to them, and you should definitely meet them if you get a chance.

I met Zander in Holguín and we were together wiht some other good friends from CS. We walk showing them the city much around, the way of thinking of the Cubans. We try to go to the beach but... it was a little difficult, we decide better to go to the Cruz's Hill. I think that their legs should still hurt. I loved to share our time together, I learned much of them and I hope to have helped them to understand Cuba. A true couchsurfer, with adventure spirit, indefatigable, curious, observer, talkative, reliable; I hope very soon we see again. Good kid. Met through a friend and wandered around a vast city in the middle of the desert, searching for whatever we could find. It was refreshing for me to meet someone so willing to try new things.

 

The best way that I can think to describe Zander is baller-status! Very intellectual and very funny guy who drinks beer that tasted like hot dogs (I was quite impressed)! I hope to travel with this guy one of these days.

Nephew! If me and this guy walked on UCF campus together we'd never get anywhere because we'd be stopping to say hi to somebody after every step we took. We, together know EVERYBODY at UCF. That just shows that this is one friendly guy. He can actually make friends at a faster rate than I can!

I met Zander the other night at a couchsurfing get-together at Spicetopia in St.Augustine. Mary Ann introduced us. My impression is that he is very open, intelligent, and ready for adventure! I would definitely host Zander again, or just hang out with him. I think he's cool.

 

Zander is a very interesting, very mature and very intelligent person (and I do mean very when I say very!). He would make an excellent travel buddy;) Spent the night in our dorm room at the Piratehaus in St. Augustine and we could've talked all night if we weren't so tired...

 

Zander is an oustanding young man. Unique and talented. I recommended this site as I felt he might find diverse individuals to correspond with and people that share some of his thoughts, ideas. He is like a son to both me and my daughter.
