I'm a pretty easy going girl, I take what gets thrown at me, and like to allow plenty of room for the unexpected to enrich my life. I try to create a mix of random/spontaneous decisions and well-planned paths. I love to travel and make friends around the world, and when I'm home I have friends visit so that I can show them a taste of the Northwest- fishing, hiking, sailing, etc. My goals for the next few years are to get a motorcycle, start a mussel farm, get a pilot's license, and rebuild a wooden boat.
Other than that, I don't smoke, I like to go out every now and then, but I also like chatting over a cup of tea. I'm realllly trying to break my coffee dependancy haha.
I can be kind of quiet and shy, but usually try to not let that get in the way. Some of my best friends are from my childhood, but some I've met just a year ago. I've been loving the chance to travel, but I'm also looking forward to the summer, when I will finally have a permanent address
How I Participate in CS
I just found out about CouchSurfing, but it seems like a great chance to travel and meet new people. I'm looking forward to being able to return the hospitality to travelers in the US!
Interests
Sailing, scuba diving, fishing, kayaking, water-skiing, wake-boarding, speedboats, rowing... pretty much anything that is on or in the water. I was lucky enough to grow up doing all of these- along with hunting, riding dirtbikes, hiking, camping and generally just being outdoors.
rock hounding, lapidary, silversmithing... i make almost all of my own jewelry and love other sorts of crafts. I scrimshaw, for all of you who know what that is ;)
Philosophy
the best advice someone ever gave me was to do what you love to do and find a way to make it happen, because you can find a way to live off your dream, so that's what I've been aiming for
Music, Movies, Books
I'll pretty much watch and read anything. I love old black and white films and I can curl up for hours with a good book.
Favorite Movies: Casablanca, The Night of the Iguana, Gone with the Wind, Father Goose, The Philadelphia Story, Notorious, That Touch of Mink, North by Northwest, Arsenic and Old Lace, Charade, Breakfast at Tiffany's, Roman Holiday, Only Angels Have Wings, African Queen, Bringing up Baby, Adam's Rib, Sabrina, My Fair Lady, Gilda, Gigi, Mogambo, The King and I, An Affair to Remember, Houseboat, To Kill a Mockingbird, National Velvet...
I love World War II movies- Pearl Harbor, The Longest Day, The Great Escape... and all of the obscure black and whites based on WWII
More or less recent movies- Lethal Weapon (1-4), Flashdance, Indiana Jones, Atonement, The Notebook, Wall-E, Boondock Saints, and so many more that I don't remember
Types of People I enjoy
I love meeting people who are enthusiastic about what they're doing, no matter what it is
Teach, Learn, Share
I can teach you how to scrimshaw! Maybe help you fix broken jewelry. Two things I know almost everything about- oysters and lavender. Any questions you have, throw them at me! ;)
I want to learn more about sailing, how to fix cars (starting with changing the oil haha), how to ride a motorcycle... Actually, I love learning anything, so if you feel like talking, I'll listen
One Amazing Thing I've Seen or Done
Sailing for 6 weeks from Tahiti to Hawaii in a brigantine, using only celestial navigation. Squalls at night, a 20-degree heel, seeing the green flash, and skydiving the day after being on land, all while making the best of friends... amazing
This summary is not a replacement for reading references; it's a quick summary to help you get started. At a glance, you can see how many references a member has, and how many of them are positive, neutral, and negative.
In the second line, you'll see how many references came from people who hosted this member, surfed with them, and traveled with them. These numbers won't always add up to the total: some references are not categorized, and some may be categorized as more than one thing.
When viewing this summary, don't jump to conclusions! Things that are negative for one person may be positive for another, and vice versa. It's important to read references carefully and evaluate what that information means to you.

Positive
I really enjoyed Dierdre's company for the two days that she was here. As soon as she arrived she started on a homemade pizza while I was collecting K. It was delicious! It was great to take time out to do a bit of sight-seeing and check out some pubs. Thanks for helping with the cat, she has come around a bit!
