TESS HOUSLEY

 

I had a great time surfing and hanging out with Tess and her extended family in Savannah :) There is ALWAYS something happening in her house. Several very nice, and interesting roommates, lots of animals, musical instruments and no end of good conversation. Tess hosted a camp fire when I there and gave me the opportunity to to meet a whole bunch of local and visiting CSers. TESS: MY apologies for leaving so early! I took off before sunrise to start my 24 hour drive back to Toronto! Hope to surf with you again one day. AND I would LOVE to host you in Canada :)

tess is very welcoming and giving. not only did we have good after dinner conversations, she and chad took me on a late night bike ride to the most famous cemetery in savannah.

Tess came to stay at my place in Knoxville during the Great Gecko Relocation Excursion of 2009. It is extremely apparent that she is a compassionate person. I would highly recommend her to anyone as a host or a surfer.

Tess is a lovely lady. She's great fun, and not just because it just so happens that she organizes most of the gatherings that go on in Savannah. ^_^ Plus, she lives in Thunderbolt. Which is all-around unbeatable. Because it Pwns. Yay, Tess!

 

Tess is sweet, she has several rescue animals that are amazing and bunches of fun... She showed us around to the beach, crabshack, and many others... I promise you will have a great time if you stay with Tess... Also Chad plays the banjo and Kevin plays a SAW, really like a wood saw... check it out... Great People...

 

I haven't had the chance to spend more time with her, but she seemed like a pretty out going and nice girl and she seemed to have a lot of energy,too hehe

Tess is essentially the keystone of the Savannah couchsurfing community. I've met her at a couple of lovely gatherings now, including one at her house with such friendly dogs and an absolutely adorable black cat. I've rarely met anyone who seems so gently but deeply warm and generous in spirit as Tess. She's a truly beautiful person, and anyone would be lucky to meet her. :)

I had a very good time at CS gathering at her house. Tess is a very nice personne. We didn't talk so much because both are not very talkative but I hope to see her again.

 

Tess! Thanks so much for letting me crash at your place even though you had 25 people coming next weekend! And I had so much fun at the Blues Bar!!! If I ever settle down it'd be great if you could come and visit! Thanks again.

 

Tess is a really cool girl and a great host, she's always hosting Csers and taking them Downtown for some Savannah Nights. we got together on St. Patricks Day to introduce ourselves and our surfers...I'm pretty sure she likes dancing because she did not stop dancing all night... lol See you next week TEss...the ambassador thing! ok hasta pronto!

 

Tess was an awesome host. Savannah is crazy busy during St. Pats and she was very accommodating. I was there for a rugby tourney so my schedule was really hectic, but she made it very easy to get around town, have a place to crash, and most importantly shower. Moreover, she was hosting a bunch of other people and this was a great experience for a relatively new surfer to meet a variety of personalities and backgrounds.

 

Tess is an amazingly generous person. She hosted a large group of people at her place for the St. Patrick's Day celebrations in Savannah, GA. She is also very kind. After a day of playing Rugby I came back to her place to find dinner waiting, and when I tried to help with the dishes she insisted on me taking a shower (maybe it was not kindness and because I smelled bad) and relaxing instead of pitching in for the dishes. She is warm and friendly to all species, (she has many pets that she takes care of). I enjoyed staying at her place immensely, there was always great conversation, good people, friendly pets, and some good food too. I highly recommend staying or hosting Tess, she is truly one of a kind and a great asset to the CS community.

I'm very impress by Tess. She is a extremely mature and independant person and she is full of life. I was admirative when I learnt about her travel in Europe. That's how she introduce me to the CS way of life and I'm very grateful to her for that. Hope to host you in Montreal very soon.

 

Tess (and of course chad) introduced me to the world of taco songs that i havent stopped humming :), espresso martinis, sleeping in for the first time in months, laughs, good dinner, yoga, headstands, and great conversations. I stayed with her the first night of my vacation and i am so glad i did! i haven't relaxed like i did with tess in a very long time. Thank you so much for opening up your home to joe and i. Really really, you have to come to dc!! good luck on all of your adventures :)

Tess is amazing! I stayed with here in Savannah for a few days, and it was a great time :-). I will always remember you and your crazy family of animals :-). Tess is kind and open, and really believes in the values of couchsurfing. I surfed with Tess for a night, but mainly ended up hanging out with her boyfriend and fellow surfer Chad. Tess was mostly quiet and reserved during the little time I spent with her, but I got the feeling if I had tapped into the appropriate wavelength that she could be endlessly interesting to talk with.

But enough about Tess. The real star of the show for my money is her cat, Gargoyle. Tess has a collection of rescued and fairly eccentric animals. If I were a cat, I would probably be Gargoyle. He is a fat, black cat with trippy yellow eyes. His inerests are napping, getting fat, licking butter and eating cheese all day, and vigorous head and chin scratchings. If you tickle his chin, Gargoyle may be so inclined to return the favor by licking your head and hair for minutes (and probably hours) on end. This is oddly pleasing; but be warned, his tongue is like sandpaper. I woke up the next morning missing a small patch of hair where Gargoyle had been grooming me.

 

Tess! Why am I even writing a reference right now when I'm obviously going to be surfing your couch for like, months and months!

Tess is beautiful and lives in a beautiful house in beautiful Savannah with three beautiful dogs, two beautiful cats, two beautiful birds, and one gecko that might not actually exist. I have used the word "beautiful" more times in Savannah with Tess than any other locale or with any other person ever.

Tess is such a good host, that you will probably just end up staying. Many opportunities here if you're willing to join a traveling pirate band. Be warned. I've never been so not excited to go to Mexico because I just want to come back!

I stayed a few nights with Tess in Savannah. Thanks to her organizing a CS meet, I met a bunch of other travelers there. Fun times!

Tess is really cool and sexy. She is nice to be around cuz she glows.

Tess is a great lass to surf with, full of life, open to everyone, and i sense just loves helping others out from the bottom of her heart, Dr. Dolitte eat your heart out!

I met Tess the first night I was in Savannah through Felicia. Had a great time with her and everbody else participating that night. Thanks to her ideas I got a discount at the Venus. Also went to Bar Bar and went dancing to old school Usher and Lil John hooks that I haven't heard in long time. Hopefully I will run into her again while in Savannah

I had a wonderful time staying with Tess. She is an awesome lady! Tess has an adventurous spirit, loves to travel, and gives so much of herself to others. She is easy-going, smart, and thoughtful.

Tess was an excellent host. Staying with her was comfortable and a ton of fun. Tess' three dogs were the highlight of my trip to Savannah!

Tess was just what I needed for my first CS experience. She was sweet and sincere, and she introduced me to other great friends in Savannah along with 3-4 other surfers over the 2-3 days I stayed. Can't say enough about all of them and I hope to make my way back down the road. An inspirational person with great views on the world, people, and opportunities.

My brief stay with Tess was fun and inspiring. Even in her hometown she lives very openly, with a sense of renewing adventure that seems more characteristic of someone who's travelling. In that way she shows it's possible to be at home without staying still.

Tess let me stay at her house while I looked for a place to live in Savannah. She was cool and had all kinds of crazy, cool pets. Gargoyle was the coolest cat Ive met. She also helped in showing me Savannah which I look forward to residing in within the next few weeks.

 

Tess and her animals were so much fun to surf with! I felt right at home with all her boys(dogs)welcoming me at the door, as I hope to have a home full of animals too. I had the most relaxing time with her after doing yoga (her mom is the instructor), fabulous sushi w/ a little bit of freeganism,lol, and drinks at Jen's my first night.

I also had a great time the next night in her bed with the boys(her 3 dogs) and her reading her adventure through Europe to me, I highly rec. reading it or having her read it to you if you're lucky enough. Oh yea and the potluck feast we had her mom's house was equally satisfying! An all around positive energy and extremely peaceful person, we will stay friends. I need more people like her in my life!

To all who surf her couch-go see the Bonneventure(sp?) Cemetary walking distance from her home, it's a hidden gem. Thanks Tess and see you soon I hope!

I am a wordsmith and I am having a hard time thinking of anything that will do this superstar justice!!!! To not like Tess would require some serious character deficincies. If you want to meet Savannah's angel go no farther! A true friend to all sentient beings! Have her tell you about her travels in Europe I am reading the full story now and it does my roaming heart some good! I told you I would Tess. All that have met you are lucky to do so!!

 

I met Tess trough Felicia.These two gils are great!They and another friend showed me nightlife in Savannah. We had a wonderfull time.

I had been in Savannah for a little while surfing with friends I had made and the night I stayed with Tess was a lot of fun. I hadn't painted the town red like that in a while. I highly recommend staying with Tess if you are ever visiting Savannah.

I want everyone to know that I did NOT steal from Tess, although she sincerely believes that I'm the culprit. I don't blame her for thinking this since, as far as she can tell, the evidence APPEARS to point in my direction, except for the fact that the apparent theft was not discovered until nearly a week after I had departed. I obviously have no way to absolutely prove my innocence, except by pointing to the many other people who I've stayed with while hitchhiking, who can all testify that I am not a thief. My only hope is that the truth of the matter comes out soon and that once it's known Tess will have the decency to admit her mistake and clear my good name of this black mark she has placed on it. Tess is a good person, who is fun to be around. She likes to have a good time with her friends when she's not taking care of her pets. A real animal-lover, she even rescued a talking parrot that was going to be put down. I'm glad to have met her, and sorry that she can't say the same.

It was more than a pleasure meeting Tess. Her charm, her openness, her
intense beauty, her good taste, and her love for animals are an inspiration. I now know better what kind of people I would like to be in the company of.

I would love to stay in touch with Tess and meet her again.

I think Tess is one of the most interesting CSers I've met so far.

Tess, omg, she is so special and unique! There is not enough space in this blank page for me to describe how amazing she is!! She woke up at 5 to pick me up at the train station, gave me a ride to a supermarket and dropped me off at the station out of town around midnight! She also gave me the hole tour of the city, took me to here parents house, made a lunch for me and didnt complain when i ruined her bathroom and kitchen:) She is as crazy as a roller coaster too..:) She is very inteligent and dont like people who bullshit here though:) I respect her more that she even think i do!
Wish i spent more time with here and her family, I miss here pets and here cute eyes!

The biggest, warmest eyes I've seen in Couchsurfing. A burning lava spirit hidden in a gratious, exhausted body. Tess appreciated a break in her stormy journey (toghether with Eric) in my flat and used the very last of her forces to join me in a tea time. I still don't know if her slow, calmed speaking was due to a strong inner frame or just a beg for the pillow, but she got me angry when telling how many more guests than me she'd had at a time (truly unbeatable!) xD I knew I wouldn't regret taking in her last minute request!

Want prove of trust, I can fax you the sweet note she left me after leaving the very next morning. I'll always remember such a gentle detail...

Tess is a wonderful and passionate person. She is very caring and loving--as is proved by her menagerie of pets.

I really enjoyed the time I got to spend with her and her family.

Tess was very accommodating. I had only planned to stay one night but because of bad weather I had stayed two. It was enjoyable dissecting each others' brains, and I hope to do it again someday.

The wine and company was great.

I originally met tess through couchsurfing in the summer of 08. In october of the same year we both hitch hiked through europe, following my friends band CASPIAN in their european premier. it was an intense trip as you can imagine, through ten countries and cold nights. travelling with someone is a true test of strength, committment, trust, and real friendship. i have gotten to know her well and consider her a true friend. i love tess. meet her if you get a chance. your life will be blessed.

 

Tessa is a kind, lovely lady with an adventurous spirit. You're sure to have a fun time with her whether it's just hanging out, drinking fancy martinis, dancing, bumming at the beach or walking dogs through the city!

Clay was AWESOME! He's the greatest gift that God gave to the world. Clay is a really great boyfriend. He cooks (he makes a great creole omelette) and cleans, and doesn't complain. He's also really great to be around with, and got us free drinks at Savannah Smiles, which is the greatest bar in town. I really enjoyed my time in Savannah with Clay. If you're coming to Savannah, check whether Clay's working. Come only when Clay isn't working and is free to hang out with you, and I guarantee you'll have an incredible time with Clay and his pets. Thanks so much for saying you want to stay in touch with me forever man. You have no idea how much that means to me. (Clay is Tess's *AWESOME* boyfriend)

Tess is one of the sweetest people you could ever hope to meet. I can guarantee that you will never have a dull moment when you are with her. She is kind, caring, open minded and just an amazing strong woman. She can bring out the best in anyone.

 

Tess is a great gal and host. She has so many pets it was hard to keep count, and I loved all of em! Well there was a certain pet she has whom I shalt not name that I beat at Wii-Bowling... oh the shame, shame. I really shouldnt mention him, but I will because he is a great guy too and I wish we can cruise a few beaches together sometime!!

Tess is a sweetheart. My BF and I were totally charmed by her "snow white-esque" family. Especially Torro the dog masseuse.

 

Spent a night at Tess's place and it was great! We were dead tired when we arrived but Tess was really understanding. She was really friendly and welcoming

you can tell tess is a caring person from the menagerie of abandoned animals that share her dwelling. I had a great time in Savannah thanks to her and Clay. Yoga & pizza with mama housley was particularly cool.

Tess is an extremely warm and giving person. She went beyond making me feel welcome to making me feel like a friend. Lots of fun!

Tess hosted me for a couple of days and despite the fact that she had quite a lot going on was very accommodating and even got one of her friends to take me around when she was at work. She's a fun and free-spirited person with an interesting look on life, I very much enjoyed meeting and spending time with her. And I imagine I'll get over the non-matching sheets someday ;).

Tess is a wonderful person. She lights up a room when she enters. She has a positive attitude and is a caring person. My trip to Savannnah was a learning experience, but because I met up with Tess and the people she brought me together with it became a fun trip also.

Tess is a ray of sunshine. She is open-hearted and open-minded, two very rare qualities to find in this world. I instantly felt like I had known her forever. I would have loved to have spent more time with her, but I hope that can be remedied in the future. She is someone I would always like to have in my life.

I surfed her couch for two nights. We had a lots of fun. She is super person and a super host. Thank you very much Tess. Hope to see you again.

Tess and her husband hosted a camping trip in the backwood swamps of Louisiana. Getting lost in a swamp was never more fun. I highly recommend this cool couple to anyone.

Staying with Tess is an adventure itself. One morning you'll be eating with a parrot on your head, the next you'll be dancing with some crazy old cajun woman and eating pounds of crawfish. Whether it's rufles or mudding in oil fields, she and her friends will show you what it's truely like to live in cajun country. I had a blast and I thank Tess, hopefully one day I'll become as cool of a host as her.

Tess is the best host you can have in Louisiana, it was wonderful, from the seafood to the alligators, through Cajun music and New Orleans, it was awesome.
On the top of that, she's a very sweet girl, intelligent, fun, open-minded etc.

I met Tess at a field school in Panama. She was the one that was up for anything, which made her a great adventure buddy. She is incredibly passionate about life and is strong in her convictions. I will never forget her refusal to squash the mosquitoes that were devouring us in the jungle. I think of her as someone that has found a balance in life that keeps her happy and free.

We met for a short time. She is very nice person and her voice is so sweet!!

Highly recommend Tess. We went out to Lousiana around Mardi Gras and we made it out to New Orleans for a bit and did alot of other local traditional cajun stuff. Love the crawfishing. I need to make it back in the summer time to jump on the fan boat. I had the absolute best time. YAY Tess and Jeremy!
