Personal Descriptioni like fire, adventures, exploring, friends, traveling to new places and meeting new people. i love being barefoot, love to laugh, love listening to music, especially when it's live, and i love accents. i enjoy sleeping under the stars. when i have a car it makes sense and feels right to live in it. when i don't have a car, hitch hiking works just fine. i don't like owning things so i always try to lighten my load and give things away. How I Participate in CSi like to sleep on a lot of different couches and get to know the people who sit on them. CS gatherings make me happy, i love to meet new people from everywhere.CouchSurfing Experiencei surfed a bit on my pilot's couch when i was a stewardess in hawaii and didn't have a home, and have CSed a ton in europe (especially dublin). surfed plenty in usa/canada too... met countless wonderful CSers at all the gatherings! Intereststraveling, fires, fireworks, my pipe, guinness, cigars, cloves, the woods, love, eyes, chocolate milk, live music, good friends, funny people, starting up revolutions, seasons, awkward silence, driving, sangria, sailboats, adventures, young kids, weather, being inspired, olives, meat, sleeping in the sand/on the grass/in the street/in the woods, acting, pool hopping, not working, working, singing, cars, dumpster diving, montana, living out of my car, camping, swamping, wind, reading, fishing, unexpected ideas, cooking, couchsurfing, train hopping!!Philosophyi live for others. i want to give everything away, don`t want to be selfish. for me it is usually uncomfortable to feel comfortable because i know others are in a worse place than i am. i haven`t got much, but what i do have is yours.Music, Movies, Booksi like a lot of underground bands. listen to a lot of big names, but more so small friend bands that not many people have heard of. #1 is storyhill. chris koza is a close #2. folk, indie, alternative, rock, gypsy, international, classical.... my favorite movie is lord of the rings and i like to read steinbeck or anything that inspires me = east of eden.Types of People I enjoyi love people. i enjoy a sense of humour despite the knowledge of all the suffering in the world today. i like to see someone with a mind of their own just as much as those who conform to what's around them. i'll like you when you're ready for an adventure, or when you want to relax with a drink and go deeper than the usual surface-talk. i like all kinds of people, odds are i'll like you.Teach, Learn, Sharei can teach you how to hop a train if you'll go on an adventure with me across the country! at least across a state line...
my dad used to hop trains around the northwest states when he was younger. he took my mom on their first date along the tracks in a boxcar across washington, idaho, and montana. he taught all the kids in my family when we were young how to pull off this tricky venture. i can show you the ropes as best i can if you're up for experiencing it :)Opinion on the CouchSurfing.org Projecti think couchsurfing.com is one of the greatest websites that is available. it is useful for travelers (like me) and for people that mostly would rather stay at home. couchsurfing is a good networking tool that brings the two types together. or, if you're part traveler/part homebody, you get to experience both sides of the game. this website is giving everyone that uses it reason to trust people more in this society that is based on fear today. i couldn't be more grateful for this service! From Delilah Jones New Paltz, United States Sep 29, 2009 Positive Emma Stime is a vivacious, curious, musically inclined starling that enjoys adventuring with guitars and half smoked cigarettes. She will teach you to juggle and smuggle and snuggle. She is related to Ethan Allen.
From Lisa Wood Arcata, United States Sep 14, 2009 Positive Emma is immediately a comfortable friend to be with. and a wise, confident, grounded woman to be sure. She and Alex offered my friend a ride to Portland via Craigslist and we offered our home for the night on their journey. One of those lovely fleeting nights of spontaneous shared community. Emma, you are always welcome here!
From Alex Maymi Portland, United States Sep 9, 2009 Positive Emma is a die hard free spirit. She talks about her grand adventures with nonchalance. I was so fortunate to find her along highway 101 and spend the day with her exploring Arcata. There isn't much this girl hasn't done and is a personification of the phrase "anything can happen if you let it". She seems to know that everything will be alright and is unphased by changes of plans, as I learned while we tried to find a place to stay in Arcata. Shine on Emma.
From Greg Wolfe Victoria, Canada Aug 13, 2009 Positive Emma is a old timer. A princess of art and warm drink.
From John Tre Vestal Redding, United States Aug 5, 2009 Positive Emma is a free spirit and a trustworthy friend!

From April Irwin Victoria, Canada Jun 3, 2008 Positive Emma and I crammed a lot of hangout time into a few short weeks and I was So happy! and then sorry to see her go, but adventures must go on! she introduced me to the Ocean Island Hostel open mic (she knew every person in the place) and for that I am forever indebted. we painted our faces daily, drew on the sidewalk, stayed up all night, made green beer, went camping with strangers, hung with the kids, sang songs, ate dinner at her brothers place, floated on a dingy in fetus lake..dumpster clothes....good times, good times. sigh. anyway, very cheery and up for anything, you'll like her if you like people. and if you don't like people then why are you here

From Jack Daniel® Dublin, Ireland (Republic of) Dec 3, 2007 Positive The day I met Emma, I knew I'd found a true sister-soul. Got on extremely well with her, and really appreciated her vision of life.
I won't dwell on this, but I think Emma is an impersonation of the tooth fairy... "live to give"...she has it all in the heart.
More manly than a snail, her two personalities will seduce you. In a word, she's a lover.
From Beringer Sisters, United States Nov 28, 2007 Positive Emma is a highly engergenic gal. We spent an afternoon in Madison, drinking beer at the Paradise Tavern off the Capital Square. I was in town visiting a friend who had to work all day. Emma agreed to meet me and we wandered around watching the city move retiring to the bar for a few beers. She has a big smile and much good things to say about travel and life. Has been all over and understands the improvisation that comes with travel. I think she would be a great fit to anyone's couch.

I'm sorry that we you didn't have a chance to say goodbye. I hope we can meet up again someday...maybe in Chicago, you are always welcome.
From DJas Tackett Bannockburn, United States Jul 31, 2007 Positive The times we've hung out she was so awesome. She showed me all this hospitality and taught me lessons about living life to its fullest. It's the sort of thing that you'll only discover once you meet her. Emma's personality is bright as a shining star.

From Vesper dbs Dublin, Ireland (Republic of) May 27, 2007 Positive A twisted mind of a twisted kind, Emma's got her sleeves full of tricks, so beware ;) Be sure to have her around while planning to do something loco.
PS. she's quite good at drawing pentragra... erm, stars :)
From Adam Becker Denver, United States May 23, 2007 Positive Haha!! Emma is great! One night while walking the streets of Mill Ave in Tempe, AZ Emma saw a HUGE cockroach and trapped it with her bare hands. We continued walking and when the bouncer at a bar wouldn't let her in because of no ID she said, "Here, I have a present for you." The bouncer opened his hands to find the huge cockroach! His expression was priceless.

From Ben Gifford London, United Kingdom May 5, 2007 Positive Between smoking her pipe and running wild through the forest of Glendalough Emma knows what is important. Having fun and making a fool of yourself doing it. A great dancer and good for a laugh she would make a fantastic guest and an even better host.
From Wim Avermate Maaseik, Belgium May 2, 2007 Positive Met Emma at the couchsurf meeting in dublin at the museum of modern art. I really loved the pipe (I should buy one for my own, it makes people so cool :-))
When going out buy her a bottle of fresh milk! Should also try the milk but think it is not good mixing with guinness or wisky :-)
It's also nice visiting the brazen head (or what was it?), there she can serve you (and don't forget to give a tip :-))

From Dan Song Dublin, Ireland (Republic of) Apr 10, 2007 Positive First things first, the song goes "alive, alive oh! alive, alive oh!
crying cockles and mussels, alive, alive oh!" Emma arrived like a hurricane during the now-legendary St. Paddy's day weekend meetups here in Dublin, and invariably charmed us all with her energy, excitement, solo i-pod dancing/hiking, propensity for passing out from the drink, and general lust for life... then she left just as quickly like a whisper in the night off for more adventures in far-off lands. You are definitely missed here in Dublin, Emma, come back soon now and I'll teach you the rest of that song or else that ain't my last name!

From Kim McDonald Edinburgh, United Kingdom Mar 28, 2007 Positive Emma definately added a spark of fantastic craziness to what was already a crazy St Paddy's weekend!
