Palermo is full of bus.. maybe they are too much! Don't ask me wich.. but you can ask on the street.
Usually i'm working from 8am to 5 pm during the week and in general only when i'm free i can help you to show the city. At weekend it is possible we can orgnize trip around Palermo indeed it is better for me to host you at weekend.
I prefere that you bring only your towels.
The last little rule is.. keep silence in the night!!
-------------------------------------------------
ABOUT PALERMO You have to see!
POLITEAMA SQUARE:
It's to the city centre, where Via Libertà finishs, it's important, nice and there are so many people, especially in the afternoon and the evening.
TEATRO MASSIMO:
is the biggest Theatre in Italy and one of the big in Europe, it is amazing and I advise you to visit inside too.
On top there is a couple and it can open and close in automatic about the temperature inside when in the winter there are people indoor.
THE CATHEDRAL:
is in corso vittorio Emanuele, it is very nice outside, it is so so inside.. where you can see also the tomb of Federico II Hohenstaufen and the treasure of his family! I advise you to visit the cathedral also to the back.
THE PALAZZO DEI NORMANNI:
built from Normanni people and it is a castle, right now it hosts the Sicilian Parlament, inside there is the very nice Cappella Palatina. Usually you can see show or exibit of art.
MARINA SQUARE:
is one of the best squares of Palermo. It is sourronded of old palaces (Steri, Fatta, Dagnino). In the centre of Piazza marina there is a little garden (giardino Garibaldi) that hosts one big tree ficus magnolioides and the roots paint strange scultures nice to take pictures.
In the evening there are some pubs and there you can eat a delicious chicken.
Palermo has also the seafront! It is very nice, it is a big green lawn, there you can rest under the sun to read a good book, to smell of the sea and to see the boat to get in and get out the port.
Some little colored stakes are around the lawn.
The best street inside palermo is Via Libertà especially to the final part. You can find a lot of exclusive shops.
S. Cataldo and the church of Martorana are in the Bellini square.
It is an orient corner inside Palermo. San Cataldo is like a Mosque and it has 3 red couples.
The church of Martorana is very nice and full of Bizantine mosaics.
The castle of the Zisa is from the Norman but the Arab spirit.
Lo Spasimo is a nice place where you can listen to good live music and concerts.
Museo Geopalentologico is in Corso Tukory n. 131, it is the old place of the university of sociology, there are a lot of fossils very interesting.
DUOMO DI MONREALE:
It is very very very nice inside, it is close to Palermo, almost 30 minutes by bus from Indipendenza Square (BUS 389). The arabian and bizantin architects worked together tu build this amazing cathedral full of nice mosaics and with fantastic architectural structure! you must see this Cathedral.
MERCATINI RIONALI:
there are 3 very interesting markets Ballarò, Vucciria and Capo. Ballarò is close the Central station near Corso Tukory, Vucciria is around the Via Roma and Corso Vittorio Emanuele, and Capo is close the justice palace.
You can feel an original experience, People sell food, vegetables and fish on the street.
I'm sure they will like you because you can get the palermitan folclore and you can get delicious food or fruit
Be carefull your wallet!! :)
MONTE PELLEGRINO:
is near palermo, from there you can see almost all the city and you can see the Church with the Patron of palermo, Santa Rosalia.
The mondello beach is far only 30 minutes from the centre by the BUS 806.
The beach is very nice, especially in may or june or september. July and August is full of people!
To eat to Palermo is a delight for the palate but you can think also to fattening a little: the palermitan kitchen is superflavored, there and also much frying and many fat people. but you do not have fear, in vacation all is allowed! :)
We can start from the breakfast It is a rule!
It is possible to stop in a good bar and beyond to the usual cappuccino or coffee an alimentary bench with the assortment inviting that you can imagine, from the cake to solt food and in fron of your eyes there will be fried food and owened food… but the nothing of light! :)
Who is delicate to the maximum dares a cornetto with pasticcera cream or cream of annealed (the annealed one from we is a cult! tried the pastry shop made up of this ingredient you will mourn, it to life!), who has more liver already to the 8 in the morning will orient itself towards the rosticceria, of this kind the "rappresented" more he celebrates are the arancine (fried balls of rice full with bechamel and prosciutto and chese or with meat and peas), but also the slacks (fried or to the furnace, with ham and mozzarella), the pizzette, the ravazzate ones (fried or the furnace with trito of several meat and aromas), the rizzuole (that they are sweet, fried and ripiene of annealed warm) and at last the spiedini (crostini with trito filling of of meat, peas, carrots, several bechamel and aromas).
Every bars have the special food. the best arancine for me are in different places.. For example to Bar Touring (close to bothanic Garden) in that place they are so big!
Don't forget to try Arancine to ALBA Bar close to Via Libertà near Piazza Don Bosco or to RECUPERO BAR and there you can find also a delicious ice cream.
Sicilian bars are also a good option of the restaurant.. it is easy and cheap to have lunch there.. almost of them have the little tables outside and it is possible to rest a bit during your trip.
Close to Via libertà and Politeama Square there are two of the best.. ALUIA and DI MARTINO, the second is fantastic in particular for the delicious sandwichs .
If you come here in the warm months you cannot renounce to the ice cream (optimal quell of the bar STANCAMPIANO (close the Notarbartolo Station) or RECUPERO, many bars however they make it bond. We don't have light snack :) when you see a bar.. you can imagine to eat somethign of good!! There are many friggitorie kiosks and where you must try two palermitan others cult: the sandwich with PANELLE and CROCCHE' (the PANELLE are frittelle of flour of ceci and the crocchè they are crocchette of fried potatoes obviously)
One of the best place where you can eat it is close to Palazzo dei NORMANNI, to Indipendenza Square, close to Corso Calatafimi. You have to ask about TESTA GROSSA.
Anothe local food.. that will invite you to speak about it is U PANI CA MEUSA (sandwich with the milza, I know that the milza to already it will have orrible to see you but you have the courage to try it.
If you like strong taste you will love it. A nice anc famous place where you can eat it is to Focacceria San Francesco to little sqarea Saint Francesco near Marine public square/Run Vitt. Emanuele, Not forgotten then to make to add annealed cheese or to the milza, you will taste therefore the so-called one " sandwich maritato"!
If you like fish there are some options.. but surely two of the best are to go to SFERRACAVALLO.
There you can eat a lot of fish to the restaurant.. or you can go to the little Chiosk close to the sea and eat in a very informal place.. Plastic table, paper covered but delicous Food.
The restaurant there have the fixed menu, you pay 25 euros and you will eat a lot.. believe me! To the Chisk you can decide what to eat..
Not far from Mondello, there is a delicious place called TESTAVERDE where you can eat local food.
That is informal.. but.. believe me.. it is delicious!!
About restaurants one of the caratheristic is"
Inside the BALLARO' Market there is panificio Gioè, it isn't a bred shop, it is a special little restaurant with typical kitchen and and cheap price!
Inside the VUCCIRIA MARKET la trattoria Do Zu' Totò".
These places are famous also because they speak Slang Language, and on the wall there are many pictures and postcards sent by customers and famous people.
I think You can be Full of Lunch or dinner with almost 15 euro!
Be carefull because there is another restaurant in the same place called "DA TOTO'" and is different of ZU' TOTO' and it is little expensive..
Ferro di cavallo: is another typical restaurant.. it is on Via Venezia, in front of Vicciria Market and Via Roma around Biondo Theatre.
About cake.. you must eat Cassata Siciliana and Sette veli cake.. The second is a cake with seven different floor of chocolate!
Forget to eat to Mac Donalds, because one is to Politeama square but very colse there is a nice bar, Spinnato with delicios similar food.
------------------------------------------------
FUN AND NIGHT LIFE:
I need to say that almost of them are little far of the city centre and you need the car or taxi to arrive there.
You can find some nice place where to stay, but in general in summer and in winter the places are different..

This summary is not a replacement for reading references; it's a quick summary to help you get started. At a glance, you can see how many references a member has, and how many of them are positive, neutral, and negative.
In the second line, you'll see how many references came from people who hosted this member, surfed with them, and traveled with them. These numbers won't always add up to the total: some references are not categorized, and some may be categorized as more than one thing.
When viewing this summary, don't jump to conclusions! Things that are negative for one person may be positive for another, and vice versa. It's important to read references carefully and evaluate what that information means to you.
Ennio was a perfect start of my CS experience:)We spent a wonderful evening with him and other CSers in the pub. He is funny and sociable, he was always smiling and joking. It was fun to hear some of his lifestories...like the one about a gay pub, haha =)
This lovely Sicilian guy with bronze tan made me fall in love with Sicily, Palermo in particular, even though I've never been there. So I hope I'll have a chance to visit that place myself and meet you up there:)
We met with Ennio in one of Kiev bar when he talked with other friends. For the short time we talked, I could even get some tips from Ennio. For that I am grateful to him. Grazie! Spero che ci vediamo presto.
Ennio is such a sweetheart. We met in Madrid last spring and have recently had the opportunity to see eacch other again. He is easy going, friendly and conversation comes easily. He is the type of person that anyone could get along with. It was so lovely to spend time with him and his friends this weekend. I really hope that I will be able to travel to Italy to see all of them soon.
A sensitive man for sure! He is the first person able to read a little book to my little child! Very kind and cute, thanks to him i eat the Cassata, tipical sicilian cake! i'm sorry only because we spent no so many time together...hope to meet you soon, next time in May i hope! keep in touch!
