i have lived and worked outside the usa for 10 years. i lived in norway for 4 years. i have also worked in australia, new zealand, ireland, england and mexico. for the past two and a half years ive been living in ireland and mexico, reffing and coaching basketball.i spent 10 years as a teacher and 10 years as a social worker. i think my next big trip will be to laos and vietnam to teach english in an orphanage or refugee camp. i have travelled all over the orient and a good part of s.e. asia. ive been to south america 3 times, everywhere except venezuela and columbia. lately have come to know central america, every country except nicaragua and belize.i like to read, especially literature in translation. i love dogs and, of course, this is felt and reciprocated. i love to meet thinking people. i guess i would like to think of myself as aware, passionate, but more importantly, compassionate.
How I Participate in CS
i am travelling at the moment. i have never stayed with or hosted anyone. this part of travelling is new to me and exciting.
CouchSurfing Experience
none at the moment. i heard of couchsurfing from an aussie traveller this summer in guanajuato, mexico.im almost certain you would find me to be an informed, experienced world traveller and as a result of this blessed opportunity to meet the world, an open minded, curious person and a respectful, considerate guest.
never really thought about this question. ive found that words often take me away from the visceral certainty that i feel in my gut.i know everyone has a conscience and a spiritual presence.

Types of People I enjoy
i try to find something worthwhile in most of my meetings with others. i dont like people who continuously interrupt me, not in a passionate way, but in an ignorant, know it all way.
Teach, Learn, Share
three great concepts. im wholly in favor of their spread.
One Amazing Thing I've Seen or Done
walked across crete, iguazu falls, newfoundland, efasus, pompeii, keli mutu, 6 times in arctic region of norway, southern chile and its beautiful lake district, sagada in the phillipines. ill add more later.
This summary is not a replacement for reading references; it's a quick summary to help you get started. At a glance, you can see how many references a member has, and how many of them are positive, neutral, and negative.
In the second line, you'll see how many references came from people who hosted this member, surfed with them, and traveled with them. These numbers won't always add up to the total: some references are not categorized, and some may be categorized as more than one thing.
When viewing this summary, don't jump to conclusions! Things that are negative for one person may be positive for another, and vice versa. It's important to read references carefully and evaluate what that information means to you.
Bill stayed at my place in Madison for three days on his way from Duluth to Chicago. He was a great guest, really mindful of my roommates and happenings in the house. We had some very long conversations about the world. Bill has been to a lot of interesting places and has some great insight into the world.
Bill is a good soul. This guy is ready to strike up a conversation about all sorts of topics or just people watch and chat with randoms at a co-op. It was great to hang with Bill in Madison after meeting him in Duluth at the CS Invasion. Best to you with your upcoming travel plans! Let us know where you end up! Hope to see you again next time you pass through!

Bill is a one of a kind guy. My roommates and myself thoroughly enjoyed the time we were able to spend together. Bill is a hardcore traveler to the core and has the stories to show it! Bill is a generous guy who is down for any fun activity such as checkin out a jazz guitar recital with me during the trip. I hope that we will connect again in the future. If Bill is bouncing around your area, don't think twice about offering up your couch!
Bill is the man to meet! He has traveled the world and has great stories to share about every place. He is genuinely interested in people, which makes every conversation pleasant. We enjoyed Bill's company so much, we talked him into staying through the weekend. He found a number of interesting things to do in Madison, recommending a great live show he spoted was was definitey a highlight! We look forward to seeing Bill back in Madison, or visiting him in one of his journeys.

Bill is a seasoned traveler and regaled us with tales of many places around the globe including tips of good places. He was a conscientious and congenial guest and is welcome anytime he passes through Milwaukee.
Yeah! This is true, Bill came to stay for two days and ended up 7, was a very good time, and was a pleasure to have hosted him, he's very polite, quiet, easy going, humble, he enjoy the wisdom of those who've seen and lived a lot in this life, so he is, a good adviser, and has a big heart :)
Yeah! He really is part of the family now, and is very welcome, whenever he want!
Bill, I only ask you, my humble apology for having taken so long to write here, but as you know, besides the work, the school now takes my whole day, I have no time even to think, my friend, which is great!
As soon as possible, we'll visit in North America, for sure!
A big hug: p

Bill was a pleasure to host, he was very understandable as I wasn't in the best of moods (u can't always be happy which is hard when ppl are around.) He was a great help to me in discussing situations. Thanks Bill and all the best on your travels!
