Personal DescriptionRecently moved to Boston, MA, and would be happy to meet travelers and show them around a bit.How I Participate in CSSo far I've mainly been participating by meeting with people coming to my city, since I have no couch of my own to offer. I hope to be able to offer my own place to travelers once I get a place the US in a few months, though.CouchSurfing ExperienceMy only actual surfing experience was a week or so in DF last April. It was great fun, and I definitely plan to seek out other CS hosts next time I'm on the move.Intereststravel (obviously), meeting new people, feminism, philosophy, human rights, and plenty of other stuff. I also enjoy collecting the phrase "I do not speak [language]" in as many languages as I can.PhilosophyI think my philosophy is pretty well summarized by my current mission.
If you want to talk about the actual academic side of philosophy, I can probably do that to, but it'd be hard (and mostly pointless) to summarize all those views here.Music, Movies, BooksI find some enjoyable aspect of most kinds of music, especially if whoever's producing it is clearly skilled. There are some styles here and there that I don't particularly like, but even with those I could probably come to change my mind if I had some understanding of why you like it. A Simple Plan, however, unless you listen to it for irony, sucks.
The fiction I most often choose to read for fun tends to be sci-fi, but some of the most worthwhile novels I've read are in other genres. With nonfiction, my tastes are about as wide-ranging as they are with music. It's not unusual for me to read a book on theoretical physics right before or after one on something like feminism or evolutionary psychology.Types of People I enjoyI find a great many people fascinating. That doesn't mean we'll necessarily get along, but if you know about or are good at something a bit out of the ordinary, we should at least be able to have an interesting conversation.
Also, you probably need at least a moderate streak of sarcasm in your own personality to get along very well with my sense of humor.Teach, Learn, Share"Uncopyrightable" is the longest commonly-used English word in which no letter is repeated. More importantly, New Zealand has the highest per-capita use of corrugated steel of any country in the world.Opinion on the CouchSurfing.org ProjectI think this is a wonderful idea. I haven't surfed with many people yet, but I hope to do more in the future. Certainly there's the issue of not being sure people are who they say they are, but that's what the verification and vouching systems are for. Besides, it's not like I know ahead of time who I'll be with when I pay to stay in a hostel.Locations TraveledTRAVELED: Australia, Guatemala, Mexico, New Zealand LIVED: Mexico, United States References
From Adriana Huerta Viga Merida, Mexico Sep 4, 2007 Positive I met Greg a couple of nights while he traveled in Mérida and we had very nice time together. He's a smart and easy going person, I hope we can meet again.
From Julia Pelaez Avila Hannover, Germany Jun 26, 2007 Positive During the week me and my sister stayed in Mexico City we hung out quite a lot with Greg and Abraham, the guy he was couchsurfing with. Greg is an interesting person and once you touch upon a topic he likes to talk about you can have great conversations with him.
From Héctor tobón y Hernández Mexico City, Mexico May 22, 2007 Positive A man who obviusly wants to travel and he find the way for to do it.
From Abraham Avellana Mexico City, Mexico Apr 27, 2007 Positive Greg is a very interesting man. We share some likings, like linguistics, maths, phylosophy and music, so we had interesting conversations together. Funny time with this guy.
From Julia Jakovleva Pliesovce, Slovakia Sep 23, 2006 Positive i didn't have a chance to talk a lot to greg, because he had to leave to another city. but i can really tell that he is nice and friendly person and i would have enjoyed talking to him more if it was possible :) |
