What an awesome host. I arrived totally drained from the long trip and suddenly find myself in a clean, tidy and friendly environment. Nelson is very uncomplicated, generous and upbeat dude. Even though he had to get up early he took the time to dispute and debate late nights. Thanks again for everything Nelson!

We shared some good laughs over bad tequila at a Revival meet and it was awesome.

I surfed Nelson's couch for so long, I almost felt like his rommate - and he is probably the best rommate you would find - funny, courteous, helpful... I didn't want to move out any more! At least he is the best couchsurfing host in Queens I can imagine, probably one of the best hosts overall and a very good friend for sure!

we met very briefly on the golden circle and were introduced by setta with whom he was travelling. seemed like a very nice guy and is obviously quite dedicated to the couchsurfing cause :)

I met Nelson a few times when I was in NYC.
He looks like a very kind and friendly person and it's obvious his friends can really rely on him (Ill always remember how he was able to deal with mess with 200 people partying around in a flat that wasn't even his...).
He's really active in the NYC Cs group and I hope Ill see him again and get to talk a little more at Revival next time Ill be here in a few of months

Meeting Nelson tonight reminded me of how cool Couchsurfing is, because you can develop a feeling of knowing someone before you have even met them face to face! I can’t begin to describe how amazing this guy is. I spent 3 days nonstop in his company without even realizing it. He seems to know how to make people feel special and that‘s such a great talent. Thanks for all the good times, the shark, dried fish, dolphin, lamb and hot dog (didn‘t you say you‘re vegetarian ;) the ride down the stairs in bar 11 and all the singing ;)

Nelson is the kind of person that sees no bounderies and makes everyones existance easier before making his simpler... say that he sees nothing else but to overcome obstacles in life with leadership and honor to survive its own journey in life. what is there to see still, knows only him....

People like Nelson are the essence of CS. He is out-going & down-to-earth, usually running the show at CS events, but always sporting a big smile and easy going enough to always make those around him feel comfortable. He was an instant friend and a great person to party with.

Great host! we got to learn a litlle bit of everything @ those language meetings. from korean, spanish and french, to travelling experiences and tips on photography and lensses haha!. Definitely recommend hanging out with him as a really cool way to discover NYC

 

This guy will do anything for you to feel well. He made my bed, forced me to take what i wanted from his fridge and contacted a lot of people to get me a couch in the middle of the night, just so i wouldnt go to a hostel.
He's a lifesaver.

 

Nelson embodies the perfect couchsurfing ambassador. He is very nice and open-minded; When I first met him at language exchange he had this big smile on his face and was so welcoming. Back then I had not met that many members of the New York group yet and thanks to him I instantly felt at ease. I look forward to seeing him again next time I am in New York.

 

Nelson is a super-cool Ambassador based in NYC. I was lucky enough to meet him at Revival on my last trip to the city. He was in charge of name tags and I didn't have one, so I ended up with "multiple personalities." Talking to him at that event helped me to spawn a weekly event here in Denver. I will definitely look him up next time I'm in the area.

Haha, Johana sent me a picture of us in a tea place. I've got some to send to you when I get back home! With Nelson and Johanna we had the best Moroccan fish and blabla, as well as great hang out.

Nelson let me join in a dinner at his home with friends. The boys did all the cooking and all the cleaning. Really the rest of us just sat around collecting bowls of food and several glasses of beverages. There is more food in Nelson's kitchen right now than I've had in my apartment in all 3 years I've lived there. This guy has Everything. It's quite impressive. Nelson offers a very comfy,spacious, warm home to hang out in.

Nelson is the perfect host! He feeds you when you're hungry, he tells you where to go and what you should or shouldn't see and he's very open minded, so that you can be yourself at all times. Unfortunately, we didn't stay long, so that we didn't really get the chance to get to know each other. But Tim and I really enjoyed surfing his place!

Thanks for everything, Nelson! Let us know when you're coming to Belgium!

He gave me a stay even it was not planed, because he had to leave the next day very early.
Even it was a really short night, he tried to make my stay as comfortable as posible.

Nelson is a very good friend, trustful and reliable. I witnessed him many times go out of his way to help someone, and he is a frequent host/traveler. His organizational qualities make him a great ambassador, as he acts as a connector between members and make everyone feel welcome.

Nelson was my guest in Barcelona and it was short but we had some good moments, visiting the city and specially knowing the nightlife, he was fascinate with the Fiestas de Gracia.

I first met Nelson at the CS gathering in Central Park to see The New York Philharmonic perform. He was one of the organizers of the meeting and he did an excellent job.

Nelson hosted me in NY. He also cooked (too much) food for me, helped me with my laundry and made me laugh a few times.

Only issue I had is when he canceled one night of my stay only one day in advance, just before I took the plane, not leaving so much time to find another place. But all turned out OK in the end ...

Nelson, this reference is late in coming, but I pushed through my shame and hope you'll forgive me :)

NYC is big (surprise, I know) and it can be difficult as a couch surfer to show empathy and kindness to all the travelerss that pass through. That's what makes Nelson's willingness to not only respond to my e-mail with thoughtful advice, but also his willingness to introduce me personally to the NYC community so amazing. Like many have said before, Nelson has a willingness to embrace people (literally in many cases) that is unrivaled in my experience. Even more incredibly, his kindness never feels anything less that totally sincere, not some over the top display, but just true an expression of his feelings. I was lucky to meet him and I hope we can meet up again some day, whether it be in NYC or somewhere else around the world.

 

Bumped into him at several NYC gathering. He's kind, welcoming, energetic, and very level headed.

Nelson organized a fun gathering for us on Governor's Island during 4th of July weekend, and I got to talk with him further at a picnic with some CSers. He's got a really interesting background, good stories to tell, and is fun to hang out with :)

When Nelson offered me to stay with him until I started my roadtrip, I didn't have to think twice. This guy works hard but party even harder, and if you leave the party he might be offended, but dont worry, its just because he is so enthusiastic - because this guy is happiness personified.

Someone once told me, that you have not stayed in NYC before you have stayed at Nelson, and I absolutely agree.

Nelson seemed like a really really great guy. I didnt spend much time with him as i only stayed with him for one night and we were both busy the whole time. but he seemed great and his flat is gorgeous. he also knows a lot of people who he took time to introduce me to. good guy me thinks.

 

Oh wow have we really only known each other for just a few weeks? Nelson is someone I will miss when I'm away from NY, he's exuberant, enthusiastic and full of great ideas (EuroCup and Gay Pride all in one day;-) and fun things to do. He's also great at rolling with the punches. Smart and a real fun trip when he gets telling a story.

Nelson suddenly showed up from no where. But he was there like he had been there forever. Nelson is a really really (I am emphasizing here) nice person. very giving. he gave me his number and offered me a help while we chat over Gtalk while I was sick and throwing up. I've had a chance to hear his interesting life stories like how his mother disciplined him :) I think he has more stories to tell and am looking forward for them.

 

Nelson claims to always have been around but in a way he was invisible to me... I am glad my eyes finally opened and I can enjoy his fun company! He has tons of ideas, is good at encouraging people to join in activities (although I end up doing what I want ;) ) and is just really fun company with good vibes all around, great ambassador!

Nelson lives out in BFE, Queens. Which is a shame, because he's one of the coolest, funniest, most generous people I have ever met. Bar none. So even if you find a place to surf in the City, drop him a line and buy him a drink, 'cause he's a good guy to know.

I met Nelson at a meeting in NY and I was desperate for a couch - he was so helpful to host me and my friend spontaneously! He is a very caring and friendly host, offered us food and drinks and although he had to work, he didn't mind us staying out long the last night in NY. He has a very nice apartment in a quiet area in Queens.

 

Nelson got me by the fact we were "the only Asians" in the National meeting and kept making me laughing all the time until the last ride in the amusement park. Extremely funny guy and certainly special for coming to Brazil just to participate in the meeting.

He was a great guy very funny and so so possitive that you could never think of nothing going wrong with him. Plus he is really smart and he can have very intelligent conversations

It didn’t take me more then five minutes after I met Nelson to realize that I was dealing with a special guy. He is the kind of person who is simply impossible to stay more then one minute without laughing your head out beside him, he is unstoppable! okay, I came to NYC with my friends, Lucia and Laure. I asked him if I could couch surf at his place and he said yes but someone had already agreed, so he hosted my lucia instead...from the first second we met him, he made us feel welcome. We went to eat at one of his favorite restaurant (great place) and then to have a drink at a bar. i had a great evening and what is fun about nelson is that you can talk about absolutely anything with him!

I got to know Nelson on couchsurf and even meet him in person at the NYC couchsurfer's meeting. He is a very fun person with a wide range of interests. I'm looking forward to having him crush on my couch in Vienna!

When I met Nelson it was the day after my 21st birthday at Revival. He is a lot of fun, talkative, & generous.. Since may, we were trying to see eachother in the city but always seemed to miss eachother! Finally had a reunion in january at Revival!! It's always fun with Nelson! Highly reccommended.

After his second visit, i can only say we spent one of the best weeks in my life for sure. Nothing compares with one weekend in the amazing Gualeguaychu with friends, including Nel, who could have never expected such a place to be so great!!! We laugh until died, we ate, drank and meet many people!! and after that, we travel together to the waterfalls. there are some moments that a person can never forget and this was one of that moments!! everybody (my friends, family, partners and even people I barely know) loves you here and of course you know that!! i definately would trust this person with my life!!! till soon, brother!!

 

Nelson is one of the kindest, most generous people that I have ever had the privilege of knowing. If there's anything that he can do for you, even if it's just to put a smile on your face, he will stop what he's doing and do it. Anyone who's lucky enough to get this most coveted of couches, is truly fortunate.

 

Nelson is unique... We had several encounters, and funny ones... First he stopped in sao paulo for 6 hours, then we had lunch. a week later he stopped for 12 hours, then we had lunch AND a tour around the city! Then I told him that I was probably going to NYC soon, and less than 2 weeks later there I was, couchsurfing at his place! :)
I wish he didn't work so much, so I could have spent more time with him, cause it's always great to just sit and talk to him. I just know that this is the guy i'm gonna be friends for life even being apart...
And now he's avoiding me online cause i'm trying to convice him to come down to brazil again :P

Even though Nelson is a busy effective man, he do have time to be the greatest host!! Nelson is an extremely nice and oh so friendly person that is easy to share some laughs with! He is open-minded, easy going, interesting and just enjoyable to be with. I would love to come back and visit him and I do hope he come to visit me so I get to take him on a skiing trip! Oh and he claims to be a pc person, but in his heart he is a woonderful wicked mac person.

Nelson is the best! We had some great laughs and really good korean food (I definetely miss the cold soup in this hot weather here). He's super pleasant and makes everybody feel comfortable(all my friends liked him too).
I~m really looking forward to getting together when I get back to NY!

 

Though we had only a couple of days, Nelson is a great guy, indeed. Great sense of humor, he laughs a lot - and it's rather contagious, believe me! - and has some valuable experience to share, especially on how to get money for kids and go for a hiking wearing Converse shoes. hahaha Not to mention his ability to eat some heavy stuff and take a plane right after that. If you're looking for someone who's really friendly and with whom you can have a great time, Nelson is the man! And hopefully I'll be able to call him from his apartment soon, very soon. ;)

 

Although this man has four million things going on at once, he was without a doubt the best host I have come across in my surfing days. An incredibly friendly and talkative guy with a beautiful place in a beautiful city! Im excited that we will soon be neighbors, and I plan on spending alot of time with this guy in the coming months! 他是纽约最好的河南人！ 中！
Just watch out for the lady down below...I had an incredible time here, made me fall in love with Flushing, and made me jealous that this younger couchsurfer has his life more in order than I ever will! And somehow finds the time to eat up the globe! Great place, awesome cook, and the pinnacle of a CS host can all be found in Chen 先生. Who knows...we may be neighbors soon!

What a awesome guy that I had never met before. It was fun to stay with Nelson,also I and my boyfriend had learn a lot from him. He is a very nice and talkative guy. He knows NYC very well,he knows where is the best place to go, where to eat,etc. Anyway, he is a great NYC ambassador. Trust me he can give you a wonderful traveling experience like what we got.
I strongly recommend to have CS work with him, because he is truly the best!!

nelson is amazing! on my visit to new york, i couldn't have dreamed of finding a more hospitable, warm and extremely generous host. he welcomed me into his flat like i was good friend, and made me feel totally at home. despite his busy work schedule he still managed to spend time showing me around his great city, from the big Broadway shows to the comedy club and restaurants (ooh amazing food !!!). well traveled, full of good advise, funny, genuinely interested in getting to know new people, and caring; he even offered to look out for my little sis who is just moving to new york. nelson is encouraging her with her english (which she's still shy about using) and helping her get on her feet in her first overseas trip alone. i highly recommend paying him a visit, or just meet with him for a coffee and good times. and nelson, anytime you come to Israel you know where you're staying! :)
