Funky is the best! Awesome guy, very accommodating and willing to show you around.

Just like his name, he likes to take it easy.. He thinks on a different level from most of us, but really he is all cool, hippie fun!!!

This guy is WELL BEYOND his years! Free-thinking-fun-loving-life-of-the-party-global-grassroots-organizer, not to mention he's an awesome environmentalist, cyclist, educator, traveler, while knowing how to roll one mean j...eggroll!!! Definitely lives up to his name... FUNKY!

Harayz, met him thru a mutual friend is playful in nature, many things to share about..esp the "other side" topics in life...love to listen to his nomadic experiences, very easy-going n lovable..like seriously :) hope to c u more in d future!

He needed a host in DC but couldnt host him but we both ended up in NYC at the same time so we just kicked it the entire time. we ate greazszy as street food that knocked us out the entire first day- no joke (ask us where it is to protect yourself). Was great to finally chill with another nomad that I can relate to and share similar crazy stories of life. Not often you meet someone who can treat life as it is- FANTASTIC and a JOKE! Just laugh it up brotha man-

I see Funky everyday these days, well, at least online. He's an old soul of CS. His travel tales in the States sound like they're out of the book by Jack Kerouac, "On The Road" - very free spirited. He's charming and it's hard not to like him. Although he's a "boy", he does gives you wise advise when you need it.

We met at the camping site at Kemensah..it was fun listening to him sing and hanging out with everyone!ooh yea...he can make himself comfortable anywhere..even if it means he's gotta sleep on a chair,he can still manage to sleep like a baby!hahaha...had fun putting curry powder on u while u slept!but then again,dat didnt wake u up....!!!hahha..will try harder next time!cheers!

 

Funky is a nice dude. A mix of serious and fun, and i like this kind of people.Ready to party, but can be serious when it's needed. We met for a gathering in KL, and exchange some emails. I hope we will be able to do some good jobs for CS in Malaysia. See you guy.

Hes a great person, really easy going and fun. I had a great time with him in New Orleans and would do it all over again. He made my trip there even more enjoyable and I thank him for that.

I met FUnky at Ken's dinner, he was a cheerful young man and offer help to use my handycam to do some shooting. Very keen for CS meetings and always smiling. Nice meeting him! and see you soon, maybe!

 

Harayz totally embodies the Couchsurfing spirit. He has a knack for creating community and promoting openness and sharing. He can party, he can chill, he can cook (with bbq sauce of course!), he makes music and he even likes puppies! What else could you want in a CS host or guest?

I met Harayz @ the weekly gathering @ Revival while visiting NYC a few weeks ago. he is an amazing person with a great perspective on life as well as beautiful insights and impeccable manners... I thoroughly enjoyed conversing with this nomadic spirit who cannot help but inspire the very best of whatever may be hidden inside you to come out to play and be the hedonist that we were all meant to be in this life!

 

Funky is just the type of person you feel so blessed meeting while traveling..He is a blast to be around and always has cool plans,he also has many tips and stories when it comes to traveling. If you have the opportunity to meet this guy,jump on it! You will have an awesome time guaranteed.
Oh and we both looked like total rockstars wearing our ray bans at night. Hopefully we'll have the occasion to bring that on again soon,Europe or Malaysia?! =)

Harayz is an awesome dude.. he contacted me about 30 seconds after I had made a post asking for someone to help me move a mattress in my new place.. we the grabbed a couple of beers til the waking hours.. I shall run into you again.. cheers mate

I was so happy to meet Harayz! he is a really great guy and even though we just met I felt like he was an old friend. His nomadic lifestyle is an inspiration. I really look forward to seeing him again. Hopefully our paths will cross in Europe. Have a safe flight and a amazing time!

Hariz and I met up in Asheville, NC and drove up to NYC together. The ride was fun and chill - glad to have some good company on the road. Strangely, we're both headed to Europe at the same time out of the same airport. No doubt further good times are coming. Glaze up!

 

Harayz is the man. You can tell he has a much older soul. Seems like the type of guy who gets along with everyone and will go on whatever adventure is presented to him. I wish I was a few years younger, I may have dropped everything and gone with them to NY and beyond. Have fun on the rest of your travels and keep having fun. You always got a place in DC.

Enjoy his free spirited nature and sense of adventure. Very cool to chill with and/or to rage across the town with. He is adaptable to the situation which is great, although his dancing may need some help! A very good representative of the CS vibe

 

I was only able to meet Funky for a few minutes but he seemed like a very cool cat. He and his friend had to get on the road very early so we did not have a chance to hang out. Maybe next time. My house is open to him if he ever wants to stop by again.

Harzy is the only person I know who moves around as much as I do! But hopefully we will find each other in the same spot again soon. Great guy with a wonderful smile, and a super potluck host :)

 

Very glad I met Harayz. I hung out with him for a few days in Austin and we shared many stories, his travel experiences are astounding. I would definitely host anytime! Happy travels.

Enjoyed having him as a guest, we hit a meetup together too! It was Mardi Gras! Also went on an excursion. After, he cooked dinner for me and some other surfers, tasty!

Harayz is an amazing guy!! I wish I had more time to share stories and enjoy cities with this guy!! A surfer with SO MUCH to give and so much passion for the project! I will definitely keep in touch with him!!

Hoorays 4 Harayz! We had a lovely afternoon walking Jimi around downtown, getting filmed for a documentary, and drinking tea on the porch. He has some awesome stories about his life surfing couches. I hope to someday be as well-traveled as he is. Working on it. ^_^ Rock on, brother!

 

My buddy is doing his senior thesis on couchsurfing and while he was visiting me in Asheville he wanted to check out the local CS scene.

Haraz welcomed both of us into his home and even let my friend interview him for his documentary.

Haraz has a great sense of humor, is very laid back, knows how to have fun, and is a wonderful person to surf with.

I will be keeping in touch with Haraz as we both continue our journey through life.

Harayz stayed with my roommate and I in our dorm for awhile. We loved having him! He was respectful, clean, and lots of fun! I would have him back anytime :)

an extremely adventurous guy... every time I turn around, he is on the road again. we met at a CS potluck in Nashville. his friendly and fun spirit was obvious from the instant we met. I hope our paths will cross again soon.

Always good times :) Hard to be in a bad mood around this guy! He lives a life of spontaneity, and does whatever makes him happy which is an inspiration. Have shared some fun evenings and hopefully we'll invade DC together soon!

WOW Harayz has led a pretty ridiculous life! He has wonderful stories of burning man, traveling across the country on a bus, living in Malaysia, and many more I've not yet heard! We have had a wonderful time contra dancing (he can swing you like nobody else!), hiking, cooking (he has his own specialized recipes. You must trust that God will inspire him correctly...), talking etc. An x-punk goofball fo sho!

We had a glorious time hanging out in a universe all of our own. The world ahead of him, Harayz, will no doubt live a rich and full life sharing his great energy with the fortunate ones he crosses paths with. I look forward to hearing about and sharing future adventures of all sizes.

 

Harayz and I connected very well, and I highly admire his fearless approach to living a very big life -- to see as much as possible, around the planet!

 

He is quite an interesting person and definitely someone you should meet. Friendly personality, great outlook on life, and has plenty of stories to tell. He may be young, but he has already traveled more than most people twice his age.

Right from the getgo Harayz has been so kind and helpful to me. You can tell my the way he talks that he's a genuinly kind hearted. He's laid back, can play Eric Clapton on the guitar *melts*, and has a great sense of fashion! I enjoy his presence and you will too.

 

Harayz is a fun loving, laid back kinda guy who is always up for a good time! Hope to join him again on the Inauguration road trip!!!

 

Harayz is a fun, cool, all around happy guy. I noticed he had some cooking skills tucked under his sleeves. He made awesome turkey bacon! Yummy :P I def. enjoyed meeting him and would be thrilled to visit him in Asheville.

 

Harayz volunteered at Banaroo and therefore rocks! He's super positive and a lot of fun to be around. He's also self motivated and I hope to meet up with him at future events. He helped make the Great Unclaimed Baggage Center Road Trip of '08 extra unforgettable!

He's chill, and I enjoyed having him around in the Roman Room and during our Pubcrawl. Lets do it all again! :)

 

Harayz blew into my life like the wind, via our mutual friend Emily C. His presence is instantly warm and comforting, and in his brief time at my school, he made a ton of friends. I suspect that you couldn't feel awkward around him if you tried. He's easygoing, open-minded, and very kind. I'm always thrilled to see him.

 

Harayz was one of the super positive influences in the lodge adding music and pancakes; the list goes on. I hear he's got some fun CS events planned so we say, "The living shall meet again!"

 

Funky is a seriously cool guy, and a great musician. I have to look into this party train idea. Cya soon hopefully bro.

So, I was wondering through the lodge, and I heard this amazing voice and melodic tone floating through a doorway... Naturally I turned around n hopped into the bubble I discovered there. Most of our interaction over the weekend was short-lived attempts to hear eachother play. Perhaps if the next time we cross paths there arent as many romans around, we shall succeed.

 

harayz is good times...whether coloring on paper or arms, dodging his oyster fetish, trading drunk piggyback rides, laughing hysterically while squished in a car, or enjoying his amazing pancakes. his energy and his laugh are infectious. i hope we meet again!!

 

He is alway full of energy. I enjoyed talking with him at Nashville's 3rd Sunday Potlucks. I am sad he moved onto to Asheville, but someday I will look him up in NC.

ohhh my.. where do i start? entertaining for the 7 hour road trip while strummin on his guitar.. cooking breakfast for 26 all (banana chocolate chip pancakes)... Good taste in music... spunky Oreo sunglasses.. TACO BELL!!! can't wait for more adventures to come!!

 

Harayz is quite an individual - interesting, entertaining, charming. He's very friendly and easy to get along with and one of the styliest dressers I've met in a long time. Also, Harayz is super enthusiastic about and involved with the Couch Surfing Project - it's contagious! I've had scads o' fun hanging out with him.

 

I met Harayz at a couch surfer's ScorpiO party. He seemed pretty laid back with a lot of worldly experience. I'm very interested in when our paths will cross again (cue Western dueling music).

Update: Talk about an awesome riding partner! The jams from this man's guitar would make Hades apologize for being so mean. Very cool guy with a wide open mind and heart.

We've been on the Last Great American Roadtrip together and went to Burning Man to. Harayz is quite a cool and laid back guy...he definitely knows how to play some funky tunez on his guitar and apart from that he's probably one of the nicest persons I've ever met. Rock on!

Harayz is awesome. He has an incredibly adventurous spirit! Every time I see him or talk to him he has some new adventure he is about to embark on. I admire his views on the environment, he is always seeking ways to decrease his carbon footprint. Harayz is a kind hearted soul. i trust him, respect his judgement, and could call him for help in a strange city. we have experienced Burning Man together. nuff said.

harayz is legit. the house was still standing, my dog was still alive, and he even baked my roommate and i a cake when we got back! He stayed for 2 1/2 weeks, and a week of that he was in the house by his lonesome. Trust him completely! So thankful we were able to host him and he was able to take care of the schmicky dog! Sebastian misses you!

Harayz and I met during a CS dinner and he came across as a really friendly person with a great zest for life. As a result of his fun-loving nature, I am sure he is a great guy to host, travel and surf with. After just one meeting, I have already planned to meet him several times in the near future.

Met at a CS Potluck in Nashville, June '08. Harayz is a very nice guy. Confident. Friendly. Traveled a lot more than I have. Has great stories to share, too. Very much a pleasure to meet him!

Harayz and I go back to Bonnarro 2006. We completed a living art project called The Last Great American Roadtrip together. This experience gave us a chance to get to know each other very well and become close friends. I hosted him at my place for 3 months during this project. He is honest and trustworthy and one of the most fun guys you will meet. You can trust him unquestionably.

 

Looking back, I think this guy made the best out of the worst situations. You can always count on him on for a witty remark to ease tensions. However, I would have to say his guitar and his knack for rolling spliffs should be a model for all CS'ers.

Been through ups and downs with this dude right here... nevertheless we've learned that persistence pays !!!

Definately host if you have the chance, one cool homosapien here..... if he misbehaves.. then SHOOT him...
