About Me

CURRENT MISSION

To be the kind of host I was fortunate enough to experience throughout my travels.

ABOUT ME

After spending the last 14 months traveling around Australia, New Zealand and South East Asia, I have finally settled back in the UK in Surrey with my partner, Simon the Pilot.

I couchsurfed in every place I visited and had some of the most wonderful people host me. Life changing people. Lifelong friends. If I can be half the positive influence many of my hosts' were on me, to future surfers, I'll feel like I've given back to this awesome community.

We are a fairly liberal couple, who have both had great travelling experiences, together and separately. We'd love to have people in our cosy little space and be a part of their journey. Do please send a message that includes a bit about you.... our lifestyle is potentially not appropriate for all travellers, so don't be offended when we're nosy! Once we know a bit about you, if the communication gels, you'll be welcome.

I'm lucky enough to have an awesome group of friends, and a wonderful family, who encourage much dancing, singing, gigging, boozing, tea drinking, marmite eating, playing, walking, tree hugging, hooping, shopping, travelling, loving, scrabbleing, twistering, card playing, pub going and general tom foolery.

PHILOSOPHY

I definitely found some kind of personal philosophy travelling solo...

Something about inner strength, and some word that encompasses both trusting fate and yet making things happen (not sure this word exists, but I have definitely realised that you can make anything happen and fate will see you right, or something). Somewhere between divine intervention, and calculated, single minded determination. I now believe these two states can coexist harmoniously rather than what i previously perceived to be two opposing forces often battling it out in what always felt like an un-winnable fight, where my life and my happiness suffered.

..... also believe in the much less complicated karmic philosophy that good breeds good, positivity finds positivity, etc!

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

We are happy to host you for a few nights in our surrey home, or meet up either in London or down this way to hang out, go to gigs/galleries/shows etc.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I cannot imagine the last twelve months without CS. Those who hosted me, or met up with me, became an integral part of my experience. I learnt so much, did things I never dreamed of, got taken in to people's homes as though I were family, and have formed friends for life.

It's impossible to imagine how I would have had half the experience without CS. I simply don't know what poeple who go travelling do when they are not surfing!

I have very little experience hosting, but lots as being a guest and will use my lovely hosts as inspiration!

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

The other day I saw a cat catch a mouse, it was pretty intense.

Teach, Learn, Share

If you are willing, and your eyes don't start to glaze, I will teach you all I know about our very clever bodies and nutrition.

I will happily cook you a meal from my fairly compact and basic, but well practised, and usually well executed, repertoire of meals.

There are aspects of our lives which are somewhat alternative, which I am always happy to share and explain.

Simon is a pilot and has some good stories.

If you can play guitar/piano I'd love to hear you!

Anything you are happy to teach me, I will probably happy to learn! If you are passionate about it, I wanna know!
