ABOUT ME

I'm just a person that loves to meet new people, like philosophy, music, physics, and reading.

Went to engineering school, and then my life turned around and now I work as a Director of Community Development in the largest slum in Central America.

I'm working now on a project with friends, creating a company that focuses on environmental and social benefits for people in state of poverty in Guatemala.

I am really laid back, and respectful. I think of myself of being able to hold a conversation with any type of person, even those I fully disagree with. I am passionate about life and I think that by changing myself I van be an agent of good for the world.

PHILOSOPHY

I don't like religion, against DOGMA (Living under the results of other people's thinking), but I'm respectful of everyone's beliefs. I believe giving isn't giving until it interrupts your lifestyle, and that true happiness comes from sharing it with others, that's why I do what I do.

I believe hearing gives you the right to be heard and that respectful conversations take you into a bigger understanding of things.

I believe in forgiveness and giving people a more chances than everyone else.

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I do networking more than anything.

I might not be able to travel much but I do know a lot of people, hostels, cheap transportation deals around Guate and other places, and I'm willing to share them and help any traveler or backpacker in the way I can.

Either me or my friends will find a place for you to crash.

I've mainly hosted Couch Surfers. I have done very little surfing but have traveled a bit. Hoping to travel more soon so I can go and CS around.

Interests

Friends, just meet people and have fun. Music, movies, great talks about life and death and everything else in the universe!

Learning about new cultures and how different we are makes me grow as a person and I believe it does the same to people who get to know me too.

Living simply is also important for me and it's hard to keep that balance but I'm doing my part.

I'm open minded so I'm interested in keeping around people that can be open minded and are open towards life.

Music, Movies, and Books

Movies, I'm basically more of a independent film, and cult film type of person, I like really well written scripts, photography and direction, but I mainly concentrate on the soundtrack for movies.

Music is really a huge part of my life, I've collected music since I was 12 years old so I have a pretty broad taste on it. From the classic Frank Sinatra, trough Nina Simone, passing by some great post-rock and metal, and love the waves created by Beach House and electronic variations of techno, electro, trip-hop. Love bands like Air, Daft Punk, The XX, Noah and the Whale, The Flaming Lips, Joy Electric, Tycho, Flying Lotus, Neutral Milk Hotel, etc. I don't know. It's complicated. That conversation should be done with a drink and enough time.

Books. Philosophy is a great topic always and I have read a lot of theology cause of how I was raised. I've also studied some quantum physics and I enjoy seeing people perspectives on life, death, experiences, politics, and I really enjoy learning from other people.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Traveled for 7 months around europe and US in 2006, changed my life. I think I've truly LOVED.

Hoping to go back to europe some time soon and want to visit south america too.

I travel around Guatemala mostly now, and meet great travelers that love to think and talk about the world and it's awesomeness.
Traveling as much as I can inside Guatemala, backpacking and Couch Surfing too.

Traveled a lot around the US, for work and other freelance things. I always try to stay active and if I get a little time for a scape I will for sure backpack to the nearest place I can either jump from something and be around nature.

I've seen a lot of amazing things but the best ones are nature, and exchange with people. Life is about enjoying it and meeting new people in every trip gives me energy to keep living and loving.
