Joe is a great man. Love hanging out with him anytime.

I know Joe through North Star. He once gave me some excellent career advice. Definitely get to know him if you have the chance!

I adore Joe. He is a great guy who can make anyone laugh. His carefree spirit makes him easy to get along with and I find that he really brings out the best in people that he is around.

I feel blessed to have had Joe in my life.

Ps. He also has wonderful dance skills and great taste in pastrami.

Joe is always thinking of grand and beautiful schemes for how to make people enjoy each other and life more, than has the skills and guts to follow through. His adventures no longer surprise me, as I've come to expect miracles and absurdities, but they continue to amaze and inspire me.

I love running into Joe. We've had a range of interactions over the years--deeper sharings to silliness. Often when I see him I get really inspired by what he's involved in at the moment and ask him lots of questions--which he often answers in great detail! Very fun.

 

Joe is full of projects and experience. It was a great experience to receive him!

 

Joe crash at my place for two days to work on Groundcrew with Sebastian. And programming work they sure did, from the wake up call (my son playing with his toys) until late at night (my son crying, well, at least a few minutes).

Knowing all he did for the CouchSurfing community, this was kind of a privilege to have him here and be able to share back and help him with his project. And he was this great guest with enthousiasts conversations, being playful with my son, fulling the fridge of fruits and veggies.

I'm looking forward to be involve in Groundcrew.

Joe and I (and a whole lot of other people!) lived together for one long summer in NZ. We had some amazing times. We had some really difficult times. It's challenging to live with people that all have different backgrounds and values and interests and have it be fun all the time! What I am really trying to say is: We've been through some shit together! And looking back, I wouldn't have it any other way. Joe helped me learn some super important life lessons. Most notably, the one of speaking truth. I'm thankful for his love of life, enthusiasm for all creative pursuits, huge heart, huge brain, and well, you can't leave out the dance moves. Watch out world, he's gonna do some cool stuff to make you a better place!!

Joe is such a great conversationalist! He has so many great ideas and his enthusiasm to implement them is contagious.

Super funny stories too (ask him the one about the Dartmouth tunnel)!

I have never couchsurfed with Joe, but I have spent plenty of time with him. I regard him as one of my most reliable, supportive, communicative friends. I trust him completely. Often I am wary with super-friendly people, but I learned quickly that Joe is not a sketchy individual. He is also generous with food, listening, and his time. He is an excellent chef and wicked smart. He also is doing incredible things that might change the world. Joe is pretty chipper, on the whole, and certainly is honest and positive, so anyone borrowing his couch would experience a good atmosphere, even if they didn't hang out with him much. If they did, I'm sure he could introduce them to a lot of exciting things and people in the community. I like and trust Joe.

Joe is a pretty cool cat. He is into lots of fun science things, a great contact dance/teacher and just generally fun to hangout with.

Originally I met Joe at the collective in NZ. Recently I got the chance to host him and his friend Willa. I enjoyed spending time with them in NYC and really wish they were able to stay longer. I thank Joe for his conversations and listening to my thoughts. They were good guests and cleaned up the living room in the morning. I'm sorry I was too tired to make them breakfast like I planned. Hope to see Joe again someday when traveling.

Location: relief camp, Plaquemine's Parish, Louisiana, coast due south from New Orleans, site where the eye of Hurricane Katrina hit shore. Joe set up our satellite internet connection, taught yoga, danced capoeira, worked hard, reminded us to smile, and provided magnetic entertainment and story-telling when we were ready for rest. Meet him!

Joe is a wealth of knowledge. I was amazed at how much he knew and tried to suck up as much of that knowledge that I could every time we hung out together. If you like stimulating conversation like I do, make it a point to get to know this guy.

Joe is outstanding in his field, infact outstanding in any field he was standing in.............I would fly across the world to hang out with him for a day...

 

Warm, generous, faithful, dedicated, idealist, hard worker, big time thinker and talented. Joe is all that but this would hardly define him. He impresses me by his insane work capacity and the way he can put more in motion than you would believe possible. But more than anything he amazes me by the way he think and behave as it belongs to him only. His ideas can challenge your mind (and I love my mind to be challenged), his opinions can let you speachless and some of his reactions can sometimes seem "improper" but I have a profond respect for him for all this

 

Joe is a beyond belief interesting guy. I just sat there and soaked up the knowledge. Thanks Joe, you've pushed my mental thought processes just a little farther out. I can't wait to participate in some of the stuff that you are creating.

Spend time with Joe. He leads a truly fascinating existence. Not only that, but he likes to take part in adventures. Adventures which- when influenced by his limitless creativity, take on mind-blowingly zany twists and typically result in an end product that is either a new art form, or some unexpected augmentation of an existing one.
As a traveler/couch surfer/host, he brings to the table resourcefulness (first and foremost) and enthusiasm.

Joe's a dazzling dancer, mazing musician and consistent coder. His mind's sharp as a razor - a bit too sharp for many.

His utopia isn't that different from mine, and I hope we can work together remaking this world for many many more days.

Joe was a great Collective participant. He has some really interesting points of view, we had some great conversations.

 

Joe is a brilliant strategist and puts into practice what other people only think about. He has the most amazing network of people who are out there making a difference to the world. I am delighted to have met him and gotten to know him better at the Nelson Collective.

A dance man if I've ever seen one. Even standing at his poor battered mac, he's dancing to a tune in his mind. Glad we have him to lead our tech team into a new world of development. Hope to see him in Boston or perhaps New York in the months or years to come...

Responsible, introspective, entertaining, good communicator, fun and listen for that special laugh.

this chap is the brainy type, an arrogant bastard. sometimes. :) luckily he is mostly harmless and i happen to be blessed by his aquaintance and ideas.

 

Joe is the one of the most compassionate men i've ever met. He's fun, funny and totally kinetic. Hey what eles is there?!

Joe is a man of strong opinions and strong principles. He's a practitioner of a new adventure sport that I call Xtreme Philanthropy! He can also fascinate you on the subject of gift-economies and trust networks. I look forward to collaborating on CS projects with him.

 

I think Joe is a wonderful person who is extremely articulate, has some very intresting ideas and is a very talented and dedicated worker...He is a deep thinker and has helped me see things from very different perspectives...Widely travelled and well read it is a pleasure to talk with Joe

Joe is great ... did you hear me GREAT!!! Always has something interesting to say, really fun to listen to, very smart, really fun to dance with and to water luge with! Always there to answer all of my questions ... what else could I say ... well the only thing is GREAT GREAT GREAT!!!!

I haven't been around him much, but every interaction has been positive. He seems to be a silly, fun, creative and caring fellow.

Joe rocks my world. He's so alive. He just goes out and saves the world, while I mostly dream about it.

Joe is a wonderful guy. I loved sharing time with you from authentic movement, to learn flips to the crazy time of the couchsurfers day out. You have such dedication and you possess a contageous intent for your dreams, both CS and beyond.

A nice guy who has his powerbook on his lap all the time, at least at the collective!

Joe has a seemingly endless supply of energy and wit for the collective, but more importantly has a way of speaking with you thats makes you want to tell him every idea you ever had.

 

Joe and I finally met up at the CSC-NZ. What an amazing couple weeks it has been since we got here. Joe is organized, well spoken, extremely intelligent and a talented programmer. He has added a lot to both the collective and to CS in general. I feel that a lot will be learned by all of here at the CSC and Joe will be an integral part of that group learning process because he has had a lot of life experience. I am honored to be working with him!

Joes a cool d00d. He knows how to smile, thats important. He has good ideas, thats pretty neato. Hes going to come over on Wednesday and drink G&T's with us. In his fancy clothes.

 

Living with Joe is definitely a great experience thus far. Whether he is teaching us how to fall down without getting hurt, coming up with equations to find GOC, or talking about his amazing ideas for the future of CS, he is guarenteed to be fun and full of enthusiasm. Look forward to spending this summer with him.

Joe is one of my very favorite people! I am always delighted to be in his vibrant presence. Creative, inspired, adventurous, honest, and kind-hearted, he thinks up amazing projects and then actually does them. He's my hero. I'd be his host or guest anytime.

 

Joe is a very intelligent, friendly man, always posing interesting questions and thoughts. Adventurous, eager, and humorful, I'm sure he would make a wonderful guest or host.

occassionally i meet people who are doing awesome things and it makes me re-examine my life to see if i could be doing more. this was one of those people.
