Personal DescriptionTravel to exotic, distant lands, meet exciting, unusual people, and kill them.
I am kidding. I don't kill people, or maybe my sarcasm can~ sometimes i enjoyed a strange sense of humor, because i believe being strange can bring out so many more possibilities in life.
I love traveling. I have done some backpacking on my own. I love meeting interesting people who can tell me life is exciting and full of surprises.
I am a sailor in the uncharted waters.

CouchSurfing ExperienceUnited States and Europe and Australia mostlyIntereststraveling, reading, trying new stuff, meeting new people.
Sometimes I suspect I secretly enjoy being at a perpetual state of panic. Gosh college is killing me.Philosophythe quote from the film "Wall Street"
(not "Greed is Good" pls...)
that is when Gordon tried to fire Bud Fox in the changing room, "every battle is won before it is ever fought".
I take that personally, though most of the time I couldn't act on it. I think most of the disturbances in my life come from I didn't prepare enough. Life is hard you know~
I also believe a normal life can't make me a man. I want changes. I want an exciting and fulfilling life so that when I look back I won't feel sorry for myself.Types of People I enjoyfriendly, smart, funny people.
Cool people
people who can share a lot of his/her experienceTeach, Learn, ShareTravel experiences, internet, whatever we can think of.
I invented a really delicious fried spaghetti with oyster and soy sauce when i backpacked. The dish tastes really good (confirmed by my hosts!)and is very cheap to make. I would teach you the dish if you are interested! One Amazing Thing I've Seen or DoneIt has to be... that night when I watched my friends peed in NYC phonebooth and talked to random girls on the street...

From Andy Shek Lausanne, Switzerland Aug 3, 2009 Positive I knew him since college. This guy is smart and fun to hang out with.
From Simon Cheung Kowloon East, China May 17, 2009 Positive Josh is smart, easy going, friendly and he has a terrific sense of humour. He's full of funny and creative ideas in his mind!
From Gunnar Hjálmarsson Oslo, Norway Feb 27, 2009 Positive Joshua and I were both hosted by Anders in Oslo at the same time. I had fun sharing my first days in Oslo with him and with good teamwork(!) we were able to find our way to Korketrekkeren to go sledding, which was a blast! (I'll send you the pictures soon!) He seemed like a kind and smart guy. He was a good roommate as well, I had absolutely no problem sharing the living room with him. Josh, I'm looking you up if I find myself in Hong Kong any time soon!
From Anders Kjærnes Oslo, Norway Feb 20, 2009 Positive Joshua is a great guy! He surfed my couch for three nights and I guided him through Oslo. He also made me a splendid chinese dish! Do not hesitate to host or surf with Joshua!
From Daniel David Muñoz Morcillo Oslo, Norway Feb 17, 2009 Positive Joshua is a really nice and easy going person. I hosted him in my room for one day. We spend some time sighseeing the main touristic atraction in Oslo like the new opera house, the parlament, castle and the city hall. It was nice to meet and host him. :)
From Udai Dhamija Dublin, Ireland (Republic of) Jan 26, 2009 Positive Joshua was a brilliant host. I had loads of fun with him and his friends in Hong Kong. Hope to meet up with him next time in Hong Kong or wherever are paths may cross.
From Dara Hallinan Stuttgart, Germany Dec 19, 2008 Positive ian came and couchsurfed me, and then he left to go out - but then he came back in the evening. Then he left in the morning, then he came back in the evening. We didn t even have any of this bed type nonsense.
cool guy.
From Hannah Gordon Bendigo, Australia Oct 12, 2008 Positive As Josh was my first hosting experience I had no idea what to expect and it probabaly showed! Never the less Josh was polite and very willing to try or see whatever we suggested.
From LING21 Sydney, Australia Aug 29, 2008 Positive I enjoyed hosting Joshua, it was good to have Yum Cha with him and watch Dark Knight, he was very pleasant, it's a shame I got off to a bad start, with the public transport and trains not running, which left me feeling a bit uncomforatable, but I think all in all it was a positive experience
From Antoine Pin Montreal, Canada Aug 19, 2008 Positive Hey Josh!!!!!
This crazy kid from Hong Kong was a really good CSer and I'm pretty sure we discovered a new face of Josh: the drunken master!!! Real good fun, good talk and good battle!!
See ya somewhere someday man.
From Stefan Kowalik Hobart, Australia Aug 18, 2008 Positive Joshua stayed with me a few days and he was just great to have around. He was open-minded (without letting his brains fall out) and blended in with us locals quite well. He even joined us for some bushwalking in the snow and pub-going (somewhat polar opposites). He also has an impressive movie database - good taste in movies too I must add.
From NIKKIE Melbourne, Australia Aug 4, 2008 Positive Joshua’s my first couchsurfer and I would say it was a great first hosting experience. He was very respectful, easy to talk to and on a whole a very, very nice guy.he even waited patiently while my friend and I did some impromptu window shopping when we all went out.owh and thanks to him, im 10 hongkong dollars richer.hehee.i’d be happy to host him again, no doubt =)
From Ana Judith Giraldo American River, Australia Aug 3, 2008 Positive Over the time that Josh stayed with us, we found it was good to have him around. he is a great guy, a little quiet at first but he did grow on us positively. he interacted with the whole family, made good conversation, and was very polite to us. we would of offerd to keep him here for longer but we had someone else coming to stay. next time you, Jess and I will have a day out Josh, and don't forget to bring one of your moms recipes for my mum. :D all the best with your studies. Kat.Judith
From Tessa Cunningham Darley, Australia Jul 27, 2008 Josh seemed like a nice quiet young man.At the time of Ian's visit I had a young Scottish lady staying with me and he seemed to talk over her ignore when she was speaking. Apart from this downloading from hosts was rude until my son asked to cease to which Ian obliged. Remember people who host do so with open hearts and act accordingly
From Gillian Murray Dundee, United Kingdom Jul 27, 2008 felt like there was advantage taken with the hosts eg internet use. didn't really interact with us much either.
From Ben Smith Geelong, Australia Jul 27, 2008 Seemed like a nice guy to me personally, but felt there was some advantage taken in terms of the given hospitality. over use of internet, not interacting with the 4 hosts due to internet use. From conversation in groups, I felt he was slightly chauvanistic towards my girlfriend (eg shooshing her a few times while it was predominatnly male company). Did appreciate the Hong Kong Dollars as memorabilia and some of the business chats.
From Michelle Hall Melbourne, Australia Jul 22, 2008 I offered Josh a couch last minute, then discovered I had work to do that required my full attention. It wasn't a very good time for me to host and subsequently I'd have to say I did pretty crappy job at it. The neutral overall experience rating is therefore a reflection on me, more than anything else.
Josh though, seemed pretty easy going, and seemed to take my requests for space in his stride, which I greatly appreciated. He also seems to be most willing to express his opinion about the world and be interested in those of others, a worthwhile trait.
From Danijel Erak Wollongong, Australia Jul 15, 2008 Positive Joshua was my first Couch surfer, he was a friendly, polite and trustworthy guy it was just a shame I was bed ridden so I couldn't show him the nightlife! I hope to visit Hong Kong soon!
From Amy Garden Canberra, Australia Jul 15, 2008 Positive Josh was great! He kept me company when we were stranded on the side of the road at 2am! He gave me cool presents and came out and played pool with us. He's very quiet and I'm very loud, so I think I did ALL the talking! He is our first couch surfer who is not a german girl! Yay!
Check out his blog, it will have a story of our adventure of running out of petrol in the middle of the night!
From Josh Whiley Sydney, Australia Jul 13, 2008 Positive Josh only stayed at my place for one night but it was a good night (after I found him) :). A very nice and friendly guy, we stayed up late watchin Brandon Lee. Hope you enjoyed australia! :)
From Alexander Limpert St. Gallen, Switzerland May 26, 2008 Positive It was cool to have you here in St. Gallen. I enjoyed talking to you about Hong Kong and how life is there. Hope I can visit you once! Cheers
From LADYMIA Bern, Switzerland May 19, 2008 Positive Josh is a good person, trustworthy, nice and respectful.
Good luck for your exams, and promise me that there will be no jumping off the twentyfirst floor :o)
From Elisabeth Engl Vienna, Austria Mar 3, 2008 Positive Thanks to Josh, I now know not only the cliche places of HK (although he also agreed to accompany me to ultra-touristy places such as the Peak) but he was happy to walk with me for hours and just explore what comes along. With Josh, it's possible to talk about literally anything and I was particularly impressed with his knowledge of German and Austrian history which is, embarrassinlgy, far better than mine. Josh, do come and see for yourself what it's all about!
From CAGE! San Diego, United States Jan 21, 2008 Positive Oh this one was a long time in posting! I hosted Josh last year some time (or early this year for at least three days but i think it was longer... Here's what I do remember: Josh was out adventuring. He was ready for anything as so many surfers are and was enthusiastic about new experiences. Upon learning I cooked, he decided to pick my brain. I only hope that I helped. Now, almost a year later, I hear he is doing well. Kudos my friend!
From SMURPHY Seattle, United States Jan 5, 2008 Positive Josh is a pretty flexible person about itinerary - he put up with me getting lost and indecisiveness about how to spend the evening before a party on New Year's Eve! I'm happy we got to spend some time together and have some deep conversations. Josh made a great first CSer to host in the US! I'll definitely look into going to Hong Kong and invading your couch!
From Les Heifner Seattle, United States Jan 2, 2008 Positive I met Ian during the new year's party. He is very friendly, and we had really good conversations. I hope he comes back to Seattle some time, and I hope to see him in my future travels.
From CARISSED Marina del Rey, United States Dec 27, 2007 Positive Josh is a badass with Darth Vader skills! Awesome...for sure! He is responsible for renaming my fish before surfing to the NW...they have new names and an interesting story to tell now :) Josh you are welcome back any time!
From Melissa Gonzalez New York, United States Nov 22, 2007 Positive Joshua was extremely sweet and respectful. My roommates and I enjoyed interacting with him. I would definitely host him anytime. |
