I had a wonderful time with Joshua and his roommates in Istanbul. I ended up surfing with two other guys and it was a great experience. I very much enjoyed our conversations and am inspired by his studies and travels. Thanks for everything, including the curry! YUM!

My reference is of the highest. Joshua is a very open and friendly guy who welcomed me and other couchsurfers into his home. He introduced me to friends of his and we went to music gıgs together and took a day trip out of Istanbul. We got on great and I recommend hıghly to anyone to track hım down in whatever part of the world he does be holdıng up. Talk to you soon man.

Joshua and Melanie were great guests. They were the perfect couchsurfers. They were gracious and thoughtful. I truly enjoyed their travel stories and their experiences with couchsurfing the world. A very cool experience. I highly recommend them to everyone.

 

Josh surfed our couch with Mel, his girlfriend. Josh is an interesting guy whom I would like to have had the time to get to know much better, he was a great guest. We enjoyed dinner at our home and we talked about our travelling dreams and experiences.
Josh is very well travelled, and has been to some exotic places of which he will share great stories.
I definitely recommend him for surfing as I am sure you will enjoy his company.

Josh surfed my couch for a night with Mel and I really enjoyed his conversation and easy vibe. I found Josh to be really open minded and intelligent and a very warm hearted soul. Would love to host you guys anytime again!

 

David is a great guest. I hosted him and Melanie for a night. We had dinner at my place and we talked about our traveling experiences. I definitely recommend him for surfing!

 

We met up in Norman and had a nice meal and conversation before I left OK. Made me want to learn more Spanish...

I met David in Quito, he introduced me to couchsurfing, and I went to a CS National Meeting in Riobamba with him. He also introduced me to a great group of people in Quito. I also remember some good conversations with him about the future of old art forms. Thanks.

 

Because Josh hails from the Midwest, has a solid travel repertoire, and roots in New Mexico, I was totally intrigued by his perspective and experiences. I felt like I could have spent days discussing politics and culture with him; writers are fantastically observant and Josh is a great example of an insightful observer. He is also a relaxed, hospitable host. I wish him well on his journeys to come!!

 

I really screwed up my communication with David & his lady as I was running around in Mexico missing flights and such...but I am so thankful I got to interact with them both on New Years Eve. They are an entertaining duo that I'm sure never become dull or run out of stories!

 

Josh was a super nice guy. I wish we would have had more time to spend with him and Mel. He is very well traveled and a thoughtful conversationalist. Happy future travels state neighbor- and if you ever want to zip down to Austin and get away from OK than please come back for a visit.

 

Lucky am I, to have had the chance to spend some time with Joshua, hearing of his journeys in South America. He came to my house for a small get together and I fully enjoyed hearing the stories of travels and experiences from all over the world. Josh is a true gentleman and I hope you get the chance to meet him. If you want to learn how to surf the world, I would recommend that you get some tips from this experienced traveler.

Joshua is a very nice and interesting character. He knows a lot about all kinds of fields and shares his ideas and knowledge, what I really appreciate. After he surfed your couch you are defintely richer!

He's a quiet, intelligent, respectful and good mood guy. He combines both travelling with work so I learned interesting things from him. We had a good time going to a small bar where we talked about cool, serious and crazy things.

You will have a nice time hosting him or surfing with him as well.

Joshua is a great couchsurfer! He is very kind, respectful and considerate. He is genuinely interested in new cultures, literature, etc. He is laid back and easy to adapt in any situation. I had such a nice time showing him Maracaibo and having the chance to hear about his world travels. Thanks to Joshua, I have now added several more destinations to my travel wish list! I know our paths will cross again...hopefully someplace very exotic!

I'm sorry that my time was not enough to share a bit more with Joshua. He's a great guy who feels comfortable anywhere, he even came to my italian class! He stayed in my place for 1 day, and was very nice to my grandmother and my bro. The talks we had were very interesting, I loved these chattings. I would've really loved to hang out more with him. I hope we can see again soon.

i met joshua at the riobamba cs reunion in ecuador. we spent just little time together - eating, hiking, drinking,... - but it's enough to say that he's a great person.

 

The mysterious travel writer we heard speaking about turned out to be ol' Josh we knew from CS meetings in Quito! Always on the lookout for more off the beaten path experiences and adventures, Joshua himself is very unlikely to confirm clichés whatsoever. I like his free spirit and independent thinking and regret not being able to spend more time in his company!

Joshua is a great personality. Good people, real people. Knows how to think and he is fun to be with. BIG UP!!

I met Joshua at the CS Ecuador meeting in Riobamba. Joshua is cool-headed and laid back to an extent of which i should have had at, say, 30% at his age. I admire his "nothing in the world can do me harm" attitude which seems not just an attitude after hiking and drinking with him during 2 days. Cordially, I'm jealous for his travelling lifestyle. Finally, and not only because of his look he somehow reminded me of a character in "Fear And Loathing In Las Vegas".

I really enjoyed talking with Joshua and hopefully our paths will cross again at some point in the future. I hope that he doesnt lose any limbs on the high arctic seas when he goes chasing those giant crustaceans

 

Joshua´s my kind of guy: traveller´s spirit, and always up for some good fun. And his transparent smile shows the good nature of this guy´s soul.

Joshua joined a group of CSurfers on a trip to Mindo. We had a blast. Great fun, good conversation and shared beautiful landscapes all together. He is doing something that I, some day, would love to do; he is travelling all throughout South America all by himself. Good luck my friend!!!

I really had not the chance to talk with Joshua in spite of we have crashed a couple times here in Quito. However, according what I have sew he looks like a laid back guy. Easy to be with and uncomplicated.
Hope we´ll meet again and get to know more from each other in a different atmospher than in a club or so :)

Sickness was keeping him in bed the only night he surfed my couch... which was a pity. But we went for a coffee and had dinner together and that was just great. He has a great interest in people and cultures... and again CS'ers travelling together! Great!

I met Joshua while he was traveling in Cuenca, Ecuador. He's a nice fellow always ready for a good conversation. I enjoyed the time with him and Myrele; I wish they stayed longer in the city, anyway, hope to see him again. Cheers!

I met Joshua through Myrto and I had a good time with them although they couldn't stay more than one night in Trujillo. It would have been so nice to host them.
I'm sure he's a reliable and kind person, hope he comes back Trujillo someday in the future.

We had coffee in Cusco with some other couch surfers, and we had a great time! This was my first real couch surfing experiance, and it was great to talk to a fellow traveler from the US! Really cool guy.

Met David in Lima through a mutual CS friend. David is a very laid back and easygoing guy to hang out with. Inquisitive and helpful, with travel savvy and a willingness to plan great adventure.

a great experience to meet you buddy, maybe it was not much time but i can say u r a nice person. it was nice to meet u and Myrto as well, the food was good, wasnt it? and of course the CS anniversarys party. People like u make bigger (and stronger) the CS community, it was a real pleasure and hopefully in some time fate cud bring us another meeting.

 

Josh is one cool cat, a true vagabond spirit with a bit of gonzo mixed in. We had a great time during his stay and would welcome him back anytime.

 

Joshua is laid-back, thoughtful, and very easygoing. Very mature for his age. A great writer, too! We enjoyed reading each others' poems. Buen viaje my friend!

We met at a CS gathering in Fort Lauderdale. I was surprised when David told me he was planning to visit Colombia –not a common destination for travelers-, but this guy proved that adventure and knowledge are more important for him than anything else. He was paying special attention even to the smallest details about crossing borders in what is called the Great Colombia (Venezuela, Ecuador and Colombia). David’s a great guy with an invincible revolutionary spirit.

 

Joshua is a great guest. Very easy to get along with and talk to. He was even a good sport about watching American Idol. I hope we have the opportunity to meet up again

met joshua as he was passing through town on his way to his exciting year traveling around south america ... and eventually the world no doubt! joshua is a kind quiet spirit; laid back but very present in the moment & eager to learn. i really enjoyed talking with him and wish we'd had a longer time to visit. hopefully our paths will cross again! :)

This young man explores the limits. I'm a bit envious of how Joshua seems to juggle life's challenges so effortlessly. He is well educated, very cultured, quite open-minded and all the while, personable. This is the type of guy you should go out of your way to share a beer with.

If I did not know Joshua and he stumbled to my porch on a cold lonely night, I would open the door, make him hot tea, and cover him with my best blanket--all because his eyes are honest
and everything inside is, as well.
--although I don't think my couch is long enough.

He would no doubt give me a book or two, and leave a thank you note written in dipped ink on the coffee table in the morning after oatmeal.

the paper, crinkled on the edges, ripped out of a journal, would smell of him-sweet potatoes and wheat rolls, sound like him-a soft poem barely uttered with the tip of his teeth and tongue, lulling me into a separate, rawer peace.

I would hear him up the street, wandering to his next destination--whistling a tall grass tune

and all the neighborhood strays would follow him-
tails wagging.

 

Joshua is a very cool and funny guy. We met in a hostel in Edinburgh where we hung around for a couple of days and a couple of months later we met again in London where he stayed for a night stop over before flying to the US. Highly recommended

I've met Josh only twice, but he's interviewed me twice and wrote nice articles about what I said, so I feel free to say that he's a really nice guy! :o)

We had a blast partying and going around the City!

Josh is absolutely phenomenal! We showed up six hours late of our 8:00PM arrival time and he woke up to let us in and set us up with some great digs for the night, then fed us in the morning. He's a damn cool guy, and I'd host him or crash with him any time.

Due to unexpected scheduling constraints, I spent very little time with David and his couchsurfing buddy, so I had to instill more trust in them than I usually award CS'ers. However, it was wonderful anyway, very pleasant, clean and respectful. Also very understanding that I had virtually no time to spend with them. Hope we meet again!

 

Joshua is a very cool guy and a thoughtful host. He has some great travel experiences and is very enthusiastic about life and travel and such. He also made me pizza because he knew I'd be hungry when I got there. He is full of CS spirit and you should definitely meet him if you get the chance!

He is a perfect traveller.He arranged everything including hotel,bullfight,transportation in our travel to Tijuana...he knows all the tricks about travelling.he also took care about my turkish friend `duygu` for 2-3 months.i hope to see him again in turkey or wherever else in the universe.

i mailed him to meet in istanbul.my sister need help about oklahoma city because she is going for school in oklahoma. he was really kind and helpful.gave information about oklahoma and we talked on many issues. we drank beer with my friends then ate dinner with my family. all of us liked joshua very much :) . nice to meet you joshua and hope to see you again.

UNBELIAVABLE,I COULDN'T BELIEVE IN!!
This guy (the 7th from USA) wrote me just now,while he had to be already at my home,writing that today he's already in Florence,cause internet was too expensive to contact me to tell me he wasn't longer able to reach me,althought he was provided of my phone-number!!
Would you believe in?! I've been all day waiting for his call,and now,with an unbelievable candor he wrote me just "sorry to have caused you an inconvenience". Sorry for the next AMERICANS who will ask for my help.
*****Just for last,I wanna spend a word in his favour and moderate my first reference,since he wrote me a long message of apology and explanation for his lack of money and bla-bla-bla.
All this doesn't change the general opinion that each one is responsible for their budget and action related with that.If you're so desperate,keep your low budget but cut your trip and respect your hosts!

 

Josh is a good guy - experienced traveller and considerate surfer not to mention a dedicated washer upper!! He also is a very interesting guy whom id have liked to have spoken more with but for demands of 12 other surfers! I can easily recommend this cool dude!

Josh is a rare and precious find. He is a wanderer with a open and questioning mind, a compassionate and adventurous spirit and an incredible talent with words. We met in Germany (while stark naked in a sauna!)(nb Josh is also beautiful;) almost 1.5 years ago and have exchanged letters, poetry and ideas ever since. I know we'll cross paths again and look forward to that day very much.
... a little update... it's 10 months later, and our paths did cross again... and I've gotta say that it's the best path-crossing I've ever come upon.

Josh was the leader of our Parade through Dublin, and always made for great conversation. Did you know this guy has a story involving a snake, Bozo the clown, and tattoo of Franklin Delano Roosevelt?!?!?!? Ask him about it, he is a great couch surfing buddy to have!!!!

Josh and i surfed with a sea of people at Rory's place in Dublin..... I will never forger parading down the street with him playing his harmonica while the Chilean sung...." NO NAY NEVER" and we drank countless Guiness together.... it doesnt get any better. Good times

 

Josh was an excellent help. He is an American taking a long trip like myself and is very happy to share good advice. I had a great time talking with him and listening to his harmonica skills at Rory's Dinner party.

I met Josh whilst surfing with another friend in Dublin. Knows alot about writers and books and plays a mean harmonica. A very cool guy with alot of good ideas.

Josh is a really nice guy , he came from Oklahoma to explore Europe, and I think his doing great, he is open-minded, he wants to know and he wants to learn. He has this curiosity which helps him discover things. Good lack in your trip!

Josh is a great guy, with vast knowledge of the mid-west. We gave him tips for his trip to Spain and he told us what actually happens in the Oklahoma panhandle. Hopefully we will meet up in Amsterdam in March!
