I'm living in a house in NW Portland! I have 4 guy roommates, all very cool, between the ages of 24 and 34. The house is very laid back and everyone respects quiet time. Since I'm responsible for my guests, you'll stay in my room on a couch next to my bed.
NW Portland is a super fun part of town but the party stays at the bar. There's lots happening in my neighborhood, and everything is walkable.

I love smiling and I love making other people smile! That's the most important bit about me, but if you want to know more, read on.
I have a BS in the natural sciences and an MA in the social sciences. As far as education goes, it means I'm half diverse, half confused - and fully passionate about learning!
I'm also passionate about traveling. This passion has led to several extended adventures, including trips, volunteering projects, and grad school. I served two years with the Peace Corps in Bulgaria, doing environmental education, and went to grad school in Costa Rica where I studied the unique and complex dynamics of natural resources and peace!
Now I'm back in Portland, working on environmental projects with the local government and local non-profits.

One Amazing Thing I've Seen or Done
In 2001 my left lung spontaneously collapsed and a third of it had to be removed by surgery. I fought back against my body and have achieved a 3rd Dan Black Belt in Taekwondo and ran the Athens Marathon in 4:10:15!
This summary is not a replacement for reading references; it's a quick summary to help you get started. At a glance, you can see how many references a member has, and how many of them are positive, neutral, and negative.
In the second line, you'll see how many references came from people who hosted this member, surfed with them, and traveled with them. These numbers won't always add up to the total: some references are not categorized, and some may be categorized as more than one thing.
When viewing this summary, don't jump to conclusions! Things that are negative for one person may be positive for another, and vice versa. It's important to read references carefully and evaluate what that information means to you.
Andrew hosted me on my way to Japan by bike. We had a nice evening wine, food and good conversation. He is a nice guy and I recommend you to meet him. See you maybe one day...

I met Andrew while visiting the beautiful city of Portland with my sister and a friend. He is a very knowledgable tour guide, and a fun person to be around. We had a great time shopping at the farmers market, eating from the food carts, and checking out the waterfront. Best surrey bike pilot ever! Thanks for an unforgettable adventure.

Andrew embodies the CS spirit completely, and impressed me with his myriad of merits during our whirlwind tour de Portland. We tasted dragon tongue beans at the Farmer's Market, checked out the resell shops in Hawthorne, ate crepes at the food pod, and shared absolute hilarity while navigating a four-person bicycle stuffed with five people around the Willamette Riverwalk! We celebrated our survival with a walk down Alberta, pie at the ostrich, and open mic. Thanks for being so cool Andrew - you're a unique sweet soul and this is one birthday bash I'm sure to remember! :D
Andrew was an awesome host! So much fun and such a positive person! from cowboy bowling to food carts to uno i had a blast with him in portland. and to top things off his place is super beautiful :)

Andrew is a fascinating person, full of warm and friendly energy. He is social, open, and gregarious, with a ton of amazing stories and experiences to relate. We have had a lot of fun swapping stories and information--the last time I saw this guy, he ended up patiently explaining to me how to cure meat!

Andrew is sooooo funny!!!! We spent the better part of our time together laughing. He’s a great guest, easy going, and up for anything. We ate good food, drank good wine and spent a lot of time on the train trying to get to Versailles!!!
Andrew and his friend Marc were our first Couchsurfing guests, and they were just perfect! While we offered a couch, they gave back a lot more : meaningful gifts, open-minded conversations, english lessons (which Virginie needs;), laughter, advices and stories on CS.
They are really easy going and it felt like we knew them for months after a day. They are also very respectful and well mannered. We are now convinced by CS and I would highly recommend Andrew and Marc.

Been meaning to write this for almost a year, whoops! Andrew as a great guest, he was so easy to just "hang out" with, and oh my god he helped me pick up a free desk on the side of a road, cram it into his trunk, and bring it back to my place. Good guy, that andrew :0)
First one who speaks Bulgarian and is not a Bulgarian, pretty amazing!! He took me (!!!) to a flamenco rehearsal which was quite impresive and then we spent the night cooking, eating and talking. Too short and too many things to talk about.. but im sure there will be a second one, somewhere..one day. Усмивки и умната Андрю!!!
Andrew is so much fun to travel with! He makes me laugh non-stop, but yet the conversations can also be serious. I have traveled with him in Cost Rica as we "saved the turtles", stayed at his house in Portland where we had a fantastic time, and traveled with him in Spain. I absolutely love how he gets involved in all activities around him and finds the joy in everything. I would most definitely travel with him again!
