CURRENT MISSION

I want to see the world and meet new people. I'm also a student attempting a career in the performing arts, so I have no money. I want to take every and any opportunity to travel to new places and immerse myself in new cultures.

PHILOSOPHY

There's this ancient greek text (I think it's from one of the earliest pieces of music that historians have discovered), anyway, it translates to "while you live, shine." That brief saying really resonated with me and so that is how I try to live my life. I think of it as being very Buddhist. I try to live life with an open heart and mind and really believe that the point of life is to be happy and spread happiness, so that is what I try to do.

Interests

I love singing, traveling, opera, soccer (futbol), finger painting, the poetry of Pablo Neruda, playing loudly, dancing badly, running (into things), smiling at strangers (albeit awkwardly), being a major foodie, museums, actively watching tennis, among many other things.

Music, Movies, and Books

I'm such a bookworm!! I love reading and have read way too many books to count and have way too many favorites. But currently I am really enjoying authors like Ken Follett, Jhumpa Lahiri, Gabriel Garcia Marquez, and I will forever love Jane Austen and the Bronte Sisters.

I'm addicted to Netflix, so I love watching anything that it or my friends recommend. I love shows like Weeds, Mad Men, 30 Rock, and Modern Family.

As an aspiring opera singer, I love me some Puccini, Massenet, and Wagner. But as a normal citizen I listening to Adele (who I love, love, love), Vampire Weekend, Ingrid Michaelson, Coldplay, Modest Mouse, Maroon 5, Biggie Smalls, Kanye, house music (which is always fun to dance to) and jazz. I really love most kinds of music and am always open to hearing a new artist or band, well maybe not screamo.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

As of this moment, my lifetime has spanned only 21 years, and 18 of those years have been spent in a classroom or some sort. I don't know that I've had one truly amazing life altering experience, but I do believe I've had many little amazing experiences that are no less valuable. And that's what I hope to continue to have: many smaller, less grand, though no less amazing experiences.
