Groups I Belong ToCouch Information
Couch Available: Maybe Preferred Gender: Any Max Surfers Per Night: 4
Shared Sleeping Surface: No Shared Room: DependsGuests can choose to sleep either on a normal mattress, a camp bed (we have two) with or without additional term-a-rest (got eveb three), which could also be used directly on the floor. Once we also used the normal mattress and all term-a-rests together to construct a suitable king-size "couch" for a 203 cm person.
There are two ooms to choose from, so up to two guests would definitely be able to have some privacy. A group of guests (up to 4) could split/flock in a 2:2 or 1:3 combination. "Beds" can always be separated at an arm's lenghth or more, in one room they would be separated by "cubicles"
In other words: I (kaoxoni) will take care for the safety and integrity especially of the girls. Speak plain text to me, I understand.
Everybody would be provided a corner for themselves and their stuff and be expected to respect personal spheres as far as possible.
You chose us as hosts. Will you have to accept random strangers as couchsurfers? The answer is no. It's 'first in - first say': If I am already hosting (or going to host) and receive an additional request for the same time, I will only host the latecomer if the confirmed guests are comfortable with the addition.
___We've had a long period of rooming-in-closure, and still our flat looks a bit "beta", but daring poineers are welcome to resocialize us back into the community of active hosts... So give us a shout if interested!___
In any case, if visiting Cologne, I recommend you to look at the Cologne Group to check out what else will be on while you are in town.
" This is our couch:
We (that is SRIEPEN and I) live on the eastern bank of the Rhein river, off the beaten tourist track, yet only a short walk to a tram hub with four lines, one of which taking 10 minutes to Cologne's Central Station. Buses and surface trains are also close by.
Our neighbourhood features some good Turkish and Italian food booths, some basic and budget shopping oportunities and - what we enjoy most - the riverside promenade within walking distance.
Cologne itself has almost everything you'd want to see except for a ski lift. And it's definitely about twenty times as large as the so-called city map in "Lonely Planet"! If you can give me an idea of what you are looking for, I might assist you finding it in Cologne. If you don't know, however, don't expect me to know what is best for you. Check some basic travel info and links on the CS wiki / guide Cologne
We don't have a separate guest room, but two camp-beds, a normal mattress and three trekking mattresses are available to be set up "mix-and-match"-wise either in the living room for direct kitchen access or in the "office/hobby-workshop" with balcony. (Please view the sleeping arrangements for more detail - and rules) A few blankets are in stock, too, but please bring your own sleeping bags or sleeping bag liners or bed covers. Smoking outside only, please. Doing dishes and cooking together would be appreciated.
I have to get up quite early in the morning (7:30, sometimes 6:30), Sriepen gets up around 8:00 am and go to work/school, so - except for weekends - So if you are planning on sharing day-trips or long nights out with us, the weekend is the best choice.
Just send a CS mail/ Couch request to find out if we can host you, show you around or find something out for you. An earlier request will allow some buffer time to prepare host you better :)
In your request, please SHARE DATA: Include your non-cs email address in case servers go down and your phone number just in case. Especially if our time gets short, don't make a quick reply harder than necessary by leaving out needful information need; that would only be at your own expense!
Looking forward to meeting you!

Personal DescriptionWhoa, hoo... I'm a general store. Always struggling a bit to focus, as there's so much to choose from. I like colours. I like contrasts. I love silent noises and roaring slilence. I hate rivalry and destructivity. I'm not into numbers, and I can't say if my age fits my person. Sometimes I'm the last to know what's up with me so why do you ask? Meet me and find out...How I Participate in CSCurretly as a symathizing sleeper with a history in hosting, travelling and translationCouchSurfing Experiencepre-couchsurfing: 1996! stayed for a weekend with three young men in Berlin whom I only knew from chat and mail. :) 2006 - Now I've only just begun hosting couch surfers and hospitality clubbers.
__July 2006 ...Yay! Made it to the Euro-Collective, met so many wonderful people there, including my first wonderful host ADY. I'm still wearing that participant wristband, wondering if I might lose my teeth first... __December 2006 inclined to Duke's and Ulf's peer pressure to co-host a meeting in Cologne. First I feared it would be a lot of organizing stress which I'm really not made for. Now that it's over and was just amazing, I fear it will turn out to be addictive. went to the HC wintercamp in Warsaw, Poland around New Year 2007 together with Christian and had a blast surfing Marcin's and Chris' couches in Warsaw and on our way back in __January 2007 crashed on Kaj Wibier's floor in Berlin at late night without even meeting this cool host in person. All we met were a flatmate and some more floor-sleeping surfers, namely Andreas, Sebastian, Guylherme and Henrike. Only days after that, couchsurfed with Stefan after talking into the wee hours at his flat.

But anyways: Isn't this actually what the references are for?InterestsMusic (Singing, Guitar 'n' stuff... kazoo, noseflute, recorder, cajón, darbuka, spoons, bottles, cans, whatever... listening to almost every kind of music, especially "hand made"), touching nature, simplifying life, complicating life, seizing moments and eventually writing some down...Philosophy_0__Every heart is a revolutionary cell _1__Being yourself, whatever that is, possible to fully express only in relation to another being.

However, this does not come automatically just from having a CS account. The so-called 'CouchSurfingExperience' comes from opening up to a fellow human. Trust comes from trustful thoughts and trustworthy behaviour, safety comes from awareness and responsible behaviour. This site is a hub, a great opportunity for us to connect, but in the end it's just a bunch of data. On our part, couchsurfing is a human issue. So please don't rely on a machine to do it for you.Locations TraveledTRAVELED: Austria, Belgium, Denmark, France, Hungary, Italy, Luxembourg, Netherlands, Poland, Turkey LIVED: Germany WANTS TO GO: Netherlands Antilles IS GOING TO: Australia, Poland References

She went out of her way to make my stay comfortable, including giving me a sweater, chocolate and a whole lot of baked goods! I definitely recommend kitchen surfing with Sonja.
From Troy Jankowski Sydney, Australia Jul 15, 2008 Positive We spent a pretty full on day wondering around the city of sydeny. Sonja was very interested in all that she was exposed to and had a passion for travelling and learning about "stuff". It was a pleasure hanging out with her for the day.

And watched new full moon rise out of the sea. Thanks platonic friend.
From Eve Storer-Blake Manukau City, New Zealand Feb 7, 2008 Positive Sonya is a lovely person who stayed on with us after Stefan returned to Germany. Unfortunately we never anticipated how long Sonya was staying for, so there was some miscommunication between us. She was great with Zoe and the neighbourhood kids quickly took a liking to her. We wished we had more time to connect with Sonya as we were so busy at the time she stayed. Good luck with your travels Sonya! Blessings!
From BELLELUJAH Washington, United States Feb 6, 2008 Positive Sonja is outgoing, upbeat, and very friendly! I only met her for a short time volunteering at a festival in Auckland, but it was obvious that she is very caring and kind and puts 100% into everything she does. We had a lot of hard work to do sorting garbage and picking up litter, but Sonja smiled the whole time and gave it her all. I hope we'll meet again someday :)
From CRAIG1 Melbourne, Australia Jan 13, 2008 Positive Sonja is very very cool (even if she will hate me saying this). Never ever to be underestimated. Takes her time with all things then does exactly what she planned to do. Now that's cool. Aways to pleasure to meet up with too!
From MOCK--TURTLE Sydney, Australia Jan 6, 2008 Positive I had a really fantastic time in Cologne with Sonja, and I wish I could have stayed for longer. We took a "trip around the block" which lasted for 3 hours and included not only Sonja's immediate neighbourhood but the city centre as well - much fun! Along the way we had some interesting conversation, picked blackberries, and joined some kids playing in a mud puddle. We also discovered a mutual love of honey-flavoured gummi bears and fresh mint tea... The timing worked out very nicely when she came to Australia, too, and we were housemates for a few weeks. If you get the chance to meet this wonderful, free-thinking, open-minded woman: DO! :)
From Helen, Darren and Maddison Dumble Christchurch, New Zealand Dec 28, 2007 Positive Sonja was a great guest. She helped out around the house and spent time getting to know Maddison. We enjoyed getting to know her and look forward to catching up with her in the future. Good luck with the rest of your travels.
From Carlie Merkle Chicago, United States Dec 17, 2007 Positive Sonja is a fun loving person and I enjoyed spending time with her in Akaroa! Maybe I will surf with her in Germany one day!
From MELBOURNEXPERIENCE Melbourne, Australia Oct 10, 2007 Positive Independant, forward, smiling, fun, lovely. Yes, I like her, she's great, easy to talk to, easy to get along with, she's a great traveller, finds her way around without a problem, and she's good company. She'd be a good travel companion too!
From Farah Wong Melbourne, Australia Sep 28, 2007 Positive Sonja is too nice! She is so cheerful and open, and ready to do anything and go anywhere! She even bought me a Mercedes Benz (heheh)! I had a bad cough and she was very nice about it, didn't let it bother her at all, and we ended up having a great time. See you after Australia, Sonja! I will be waiting to show you around again, sans cough :)
From SallytheVagabond Yishun, Singapore Sep 17, 2007 Positive I knew Sonja through group posting before CHYKA asked me to host her. Without a doubt, I agreed though I plan to take a break from hosting.
Sonja is a very warm and caring person and I like her instantly. We spend every night sharing own experiences and life stories.
Though it was a mere 3 days, I enjoyed her company in the house! I wish you all the best in OZ/NZ Sonja! See you next Summer!
From Thomas Kies La Crescenta, United States Sep 5, 2007 Positive ...what more can one ask for when one surfs a cot (which is very comfortable i might add) in a kitchen??? great meals & great conversations...and a great overall CS experience...thanks Sonja...cheers, the kitchen fairy...
From Jurgen Siemonsma Berlin, Germany Jul 2, 2007 Positive It's lots of good times with Sonja! Wether it's seriousness or absolute sillyness - good fun! She's the kind of person who makes me wonder what's going on in her life - what interesting things & projects she's up to this time :-)
From travelista Geldrop, Netherlands May 19, 2007 Positive Hands, voice, eyes and heart.
From MIDSCH Hamburg, Germany Apr 23, 2007 Positive After changing so much "heads-up" and other mails Sonja was on my "definetly-to-meet"-list for a while. When she finally hosted me for a weekend in Cologne and I prefered not to go into any museum as I had planned, because the time with her was much more interesting!
From FRITTERPETE Manchester, United Kingdom Mar 31, 2007 Positive I suggested that she have herself committed. She said that I looked like an orphan.
Would've liked to spend more time with her. :)
From MARA10000HZ Cologne, Germany Mar 16, 2007 Positive Actually a woman from HC asked for a host in my house in the time of carnival. Unfortunately my house was already full.
Nevertheless we had a lot of fun over skype, so we wanted to meet before she went back home. She told Sonja that Iam in the same
street as Sonja. So we met for a cup of tea in my house. time was fading away and almost it became half a day. We laugh and discuss and talk about such a things
Sonja is a crazy, faithfully, openminded and interesting woman. We will keep the contact, hope to stay friends.
From SRIEPEN Cologne, Germany Mar 13, 2007 Positive Hard to describe. Just cool or even a person you have to meet. Deep diskussions about THE system, the mind and those things in between! Can't wait for the next date.
From Evren Erdener Brussels, Belgium Mar 3, 2007 Positive Good friend, Good host, good musician and a good cook!.I was also very glad to manage to meet with her nice boyfriend Stefan.
She is an important member for CS and I leanrt so much about the CS from her.
we had long conversations, and even a music session.
I wish Sonja "a very good luck" with the Australia dream , and moreover a happy relationship with Stefan!
From Lucas T Berlin, Germany Feb 7, 2007 Positive Sonja hosted me for 1 day in Köln. We didn't see each other for a long time but I can tell she's very sympathetic, knows how to make people feel at ease at her home, and learnt me one or two things about Couchsurfing and japanese t-shirt folding... Hope to meet you again sonja ! BTW that congress was über-boring, so I had the time to visit Köln, the Dom & Ludwig Museum...
From Pieter Ter Berg The Hague, Netherlands Feb 2, 2007 Positive We had a really good time in Cologne and that was made possible by Sonja! She's a great host who's willing to show the city or a medieval Xmas Market.
She's a real CS Addict who can tell you everything about it and she will ;)
We got nice Sinterklaas gifts at our first night there...
Keep up the good work and see you next time!
From Ashley Cage Busan, South Korea Jan 26, 2007 Positive Sonja`s a wonderful, kind girl who shares so much and asks for so little. Anyone who stays with her will have a wonderful experience in Cologne. Thank you so much Sonja you know you will always be welcome where ever I live :)
From HungrySteve South Lake Tahoe, United States Jan 12, 2007 Positive Wow, I can't even begin to decribe to this girl. She is definately sugar and spice and all things nice, but she is also silly and fun and caring and a good you know too. MMM...hummous soup. We did so much together, she really dedicated herself to ensuring that I had a great and got do the things I wanted. Need a list of things we did together? Hmm, I seem to remember a beach, different piles of rocks behind a brick wall, pigs pigs and more pigs, eating, wine, football, singing, barbeque on the river, long walks, great talks, pigs pigs pigs, singing saw informational meeting, and one big amazingly beautiful storm. I hope that sums it up. I really had a great time surfing her couch the first time where she tought me the game of pigs. I liked that game and Sonja so much that had to come back, only to find my own set of pigs waiting for me. We had hard times saying goodbye and I "accidently" left my allergy medecine at her place so I had to pop in for one last visit. Whatever we did we had fun and I will always take some time to see her if I happen to be within 300 kilometer of Köln. She rocks out load with tie-dye pants.
From ARTLITE Warsaw, Poland Jan 2, 2007 Positive I had a pleasure of hosting Sonja during our polish wintercamp. Her company is enjoyable. I'd introduce her to polish cuisine and habits of inviting anonymous Germans over for a night. You're always welcome to stay in my place again. Was glad to meet you and thanks for bringing your 12-string. I enojoyed playing it.
From James Stott Cambridge, United Kingdom Dec 22, 2006 Positive Sonja was my fist CS host; both her enthusiasm and generosity were fantastic, making my short stay an enjoyable one. Highlights were following chalk arrows to a jazz night, making origami birds late into the night while discussing quantum physics with her, my sister and another CSer (Geva), and big breakfasts.
Thanks Sonja!
From SUPERYAMI Mouvaux, France Dec 20, 2006 Positive I met Sonja at the collective in eisenstadt but unfortunately there we didn't have much time to get to know each other. i was pretty sure i would see her again and thats exactly what happened this weekend. She is an exceptional host and i do feel sad that we couldn't have much time to finish this good talk we had. i really want to be able to see you before you get the hell out of Europe for whatever exotic locations of yours!! thanks again Sonja for the amazing time and dedication you showed!!
From Peter Oledzki Cologne, Germany Dec 12, 2006 Positive Ahhh friendly Sonja was one of the organisers of the Xmas meeting in Cologne and she manged to do a great job with a phone that was only working half of the time.Danke for bringing so many together!
From Fernando Gomes Madrid, Spain Nov 29, 2006 Positive She hosted me for only 1 night! my first night couchsurfing! enough time to say that she is great great person! always funny, friendly, good mooded! helped me with some back pain, and teached me the excersices!..she made me keep couchsurfing!
From Emily Stott Amman, Jordan Nov 29, 2006 Positive I shared some lovely time with Sonja, together with my brother and another CSer Greg. We went to an open mic night (guided there by exciting chalk arrows!), cooked together (which took hours somehow even though it was just pasta!) and made origami birds from kinder egg wrappers over wine whilst talking about resonance and physics and chemistry, as well as sharing beautifully presented breakfasts every day! Sonja is a generous, open, thoughtful host embracing everything good about couchsurfing, hope we can meet and share more time together in the future - maybe at the next European collective!
From Greg Eva Lyon, France Nov 28, 2006 Positive Campbed fit for a king!!
Xoni is a lovely, intelligent, interesting person who was kind enough to let me into her playfull imaginative world for a few days. Somewhat like the place called Narnia.. but she's got less lions. She does have a rhino however, so don't cross her, as the rhino takes telepathic suggestions from her!!!
Our time together was shorter than it should have been.. but in that time we were able to have some fun, some great chats, share our dreams, play with her Furby, drink some wine, build kinder-toys, and play in a vacated church (God was watching however). She even took me to a playground where we could could get our fill of swings, spinny things, see-saws, etc. Oh.. and she let me talk to the other surfers that were there as well.
There's more.. like the chalk trail that she left for me in order to find the jam session that she was playing at when I arrived! She gives a good shoulder massage as well.. best I've had in awhile. Another great thing about er place.. you don't need to bring your own stuffed animal.. she's got loads of spares!
Would love to stop by again on my way through, but am out of time. Hope to make it back her way sometime soon in order to spend some more time with her! Ciao Xoni!
From Stu Corbett Melbourne, Australia Nov 24, 2006 Positive I spent 2 days with Sonja and had a great time. A very interesting person to talk to with a unique personality, and i hope to welcome her on my couch one day.
From Gennaro Guida Florence, Italy Oct 16, 2006 Positive Sonja? a lovely, kind, intelligent girl. I consider her one of my best friends. I was her host in Cologne: I love Cologne; I walked with her and her friend Norbert in Kalk: I love Kalk. I visited with her the local hospital: I love this hospital. Come soon to FLorence, Sonja! We'll keep our friendship alive!
From Jean-Paul Maka Libin, Belgium Oct 4, 2006 Positive She walks like an angel
She talks like an angel
I first saw her down in
Trimbornstrasse station
Is it a haeven's door ?
From THELAZYDESIGNER Pistoia, Italy Oct 2, 2006 Positive In my first travel as a guest Sonja let me feel like at home, she's an easy going, fun, interesting person, hope to see you again soon somewhere!
From OPENMIC Palermo, Italy Sep 24, 2006 Positive Sonja was a great participant of the CSC in Austria this year. She is a great example of couchsurfing spirit... she did a great job of running the welcome wagon and greeting new guests. She even gave some crucial input at the meetings. It would be a pleasure to have her involved with the next collective we have.
From Denise Won Redwood City, United States Sep 2, 2006 Positive We were two peas in a pod because we had so many things in common and she was very considerate and open minded. She enhanced my experience in Köln by 100%. I was very blessed to have her as my first couch surfing host.
From Kislay Kumar Mumbai, India Aug 31, 2006 Positive A calm and nice FunLoving Girl!Unfortunately I did not get to speak with you very much in Eisenstadt but hopefully we'll meet again and get to know each other better then..Hope To See You Soon Someday!!
From Ulf Kleinings Cologne, Germany Aug 21, 2006 Positive I WILL WRITE A "REAL" REFERENCE (MY STYLE...) AS SOON AS I'LL FIND THE TIME! IN THE MEANTIME JUST SOME "BASIC'S":
totally warm-hearted and caring girl with a passion about, great interest in and profound knowledge of everything that lives ;-)
TO BE COMPLETED...
From Abby Johnson Bozeman, United States Aug 16, 2006 Positive Sonja was in fabulous spirits even with our late night call. She picked us up at the train station and though we didnt get to hang out for long, the time we did have together was great. She even showed me where to find Gluten free products in Germany which was a serious help! Thanks!
From Sergei Sibilev Gatchina, Russia Aug 9, 2006 Positive ... birds and crickets calmed down and night Eisenstadt fell into enchanted silence when a divine melody of a fascinated wanderer song flew up over hills and vales making all hearts of this world a little bit better...
From Serena Lepori Florence, Italy Aug 7, 2006 Positive Sonja is a great girl. She had the patience of following me in a whole museum. She's a positive vibe around her, always smiling and when she sings it seems like sky's cracking and angels are coming down..
From Thierry Martinez Lyon, France Aug 6, 2006 Positive I was lucky to meet this very nice girl for the collective. She has an easy going contact with everybody. I really hope to see her again for another occasion. Thanks for all Sonja and see u soon.
From Sherry Huckabee Dallas, United States Aug 6, 2006 Positive Sonya is clearly her own person, comfortable in her own skin and a natural traveler.
From Marcus Eder Vienna, Austria Aug 6, 2006 Positive Sonja is a special person that knows how to make you feel better with her positive way of enjoing the day and taking away the tension that one could have when doing lot of work... I enjoyed your company at the collective and look forward to meet up again.
From Daniel De Vidi Treviso, Italy Aug 4, 2006 Positive Sonja is so kind and peaceful, kept us quiet, during the crazy nights at the CS Collective in Eisenstadt, singing melodies and enchanting us. Just a bunch of seconds later, a lot of fun with our "whistling fake trumpets" challengin' each other about famous tunes. Thanks a lot Sonja, ppffffff! :)
From Benjamin Yu Anaheim, United States Aug 3, 2006 Positive She is an awesome cook. I learned how to cook a lot of different dishes with her; she was my guide to the confusing, at least for me, European grocery stores. She has a great personality and has an incredible singing voice. Where every I went in the Eisenstadt collective, I could always count on seeing her getting along with everyone. Nice people like her should exist everywhere.
From Promitheus Norwich, United Kingdom Aug 3, 2006 Positive Have u ever heard Joan Baez (no exaggerations here) whining in the lower steps of a shady corridor of a school in Austria? How about digging in the sulphuric mud of a lake nearby Vienna? Sonja did both and she is great. See u around crazy one!
From Aditya Sengupta Bangalore, India Aug 2, 2006 Positive Sonja is cheerful, friendly, helpful, affectionate and a fabulous singer. It is a pity I missed her singing sessions in Eisenstadt (along with all the fun people had after I left). It was fun to host her in Vienna, and I hope we get to meet again.
From ISI Vienna, Austria Aug 1, 2006 Positive Sonja always seemed to be in good mood and was so wonderfully happy and smiling whenever she caught sight of me - don't you have to love her just for that? She made me laugh a lot about her unbelieavable camp leader adventure stories.
From Larry Greweldinger Rotterdam, Netherlands Aug 1, 2006 Positive Sonja is a truly wonderful person. I've been trying to think of what kind of great reference to leave from just about the moment we met and I know I'll be having to update omissions. We had some great "experience" one the way to Eisenstadt together with Sergei. At the collective she was one of the charming people who constantly managed to put others in a good mood. She was also the one with the most unique vocal chords. On the way back we did some hitch-hiking together. The part I hitched with her was by far the easiest hitch on the trip.
From Jenni Alasuutari Helsinki, Finland Jul 26, 2006 Positive A friendly person with many skills: cooking, playing music, doing massages etc. :)
From Jeff Bazinet Edmonton, Canada Jul 21, 2006 Positive An excellent host. This was my first couch surfing experience and it was very positive. If it wasn't for Couchsurfing this night I would have had to sleep in the train station because of World Cup. |
