I live in the wonderfull city of Utrecht, in the centre of the Netherlands.
However, from the summer of 2011 (starting in August) I will be away for a couple of months to travel.
I will first travel in Europe, and when it gets too cold here, I will go to Asia.

Discovering cultures as well as countries, that is my passion. I like to think that I am an open and friendly person with whom one can have a good conversation and a laugh.
The world is full with friendly people with interesting stories to tell and experiences to share, and I want to try to meet as many of them as possible.
How I Participate in CS
Here you can find the links to the Photos I made during a few of the recent
CS Utrecht Events
The couchsurf community in Utrecht is a really active group, with many people regularly going to great and creative meetings, as well as many travelers who come and see what Utrecht has to offer. I try to come up with good plans for new meetings, I usually go to the monthly meetings, I show new people around, and I try to be the photographer on big CS events in Utrecht.
CouchSurfing Experience
Couchsurfing has been an important part of my life for the last couple of years. I met quite a few friends through it, and had some really great guests staying with me in Utrecht. And I had the opportunity to visit a lot of great hosts in places like Kiev, Buenos Aires, Berlin and Amersfoort.
Interests
Traveling [no, really?]
Photography [travel photography, old and broken things, and occasionally people]
Spanish [studying this beautiful language for two years now]
+ Making Shortmovies + Scouting + Reading + Organizing and participating in CS events
Music, Movies, Books
For books, this changes with what I'm reading, usually a healthy mix between fantasy novels, serious non fiction and thrillers. I really like Tarry Pratchett.
For films, I'm most interested in the off-mainstream movies.
For music, I like a lot, but mostly in the ska-punk-rock direction.
Teach, Learn, Share
For anyone interested, I could explain a thing or two about photography and teach a few basics in Spanish.
The list of things I would like to learn is much longer. I am studying Spanish, so anyone who can teach me something more about that would make me happy.
In the slightly unlikely and far away event of me finally mastering Spanish, I'd also like to learn more languages (Russian, Japanese, French, Portuguese), because speaking new languages opens so many doors.
And if they ever invent a medicine to improve my seriously problematic musicality, I would like to learn to play the piano some day. I am currently trying to play the harmonica!
This summary is not a replacement for reading references; it's a quick summary to help you get started. At a glance, you can see how many references a member has, and how many of them are positive, neutral, and negative.
In the second line, you'll see how many references came from people who hosted this member, surfed with them, and traveled with them. These numbers won't always add up to the total: some references are not categorized, and some may be categorized as more than one thing.
When viewing this summary, don't jump to conclusions! Things that are negative for one person may be positive for another, and vice versa. It's important to read references carefully and evaluate what that information means to you.
It was very nice having him over. Tim is thoughtful and considerate. We work in the same field, so it was interesting knowing his perspective on things related to IT. Looking forward to showing him around Calcutta the next time he is in India.
Almost 8 CS's staying at our place at the same time and their friends visiting; Dec 2011 the most wonderful CS experience. It was like having my closest buddies.
I am so glad that you were part of it. You have been so active on CS and done so much, would love to do the same here. You are my inspiration.
I couchsurfed with Tim for five days - much more than we had both anticipated initially - at a fellow CS'ers house in the Indian city Mysore and we had a really great time.
The first day we had the opportunity to explore the city together, before new CS'ers joined us in the evening. Tim was - and is altogether - great company. He is very outgoing and easy to be around and has had a lot of experiences with CSing, so being a newbie myself I just tried to absorb as much knowledge as possible. ;)
I Can definitely recommend spending time with this guy.
Best of luck with you current travels in Asia, Tim. :-)

It was actually nice time together! We had great weekend in the small Luxembourg, while he was here we did the "welcome dinner" for my flatmates, we started 5 people, then we invites some friends and finally we were around 30 people sharing the food. Tim matched very well with everyone around! We just have awesome time! :)
Tim was an absolute delight to be with! We walked around forests and at the sea-side, talked endlessly, gorged on yummy food (he was adventurous enough to try street food here!), went to historical caves, and all in all had a gala time :) Would definitely want to meet again :)
Tim is a trustworthy person, very open, with whom I had good relations. If Tim asks for accommodation, you agree not regret.

Hosting Tim simply made my weekend. We could talk and talk, from serious stuff to crazy jokes and never run out of topics. Although we had different views on what sauerkraut is ;) we had a great time and in a few days he became more than just a couchsurfing friend to me. You should host him! (he might buy you some delicious cheese!)
Tim's fellowship has been a plesaure! He's a really kind and funny guy, and always has some interesting story to tell. Thank you for appreciating Novara!
