Couch Information
Couch Available: Maybe Preferred Gender: Any Max Surfers Per Night: 2
Shared Sleeping Surface: No Shared Room: NoWe live in a teachers' dorm at Naresuan University in Phitsanulok, Thailand. Lively university setting about 15 miles from the city. There's an Olympic-size swimming pool on campus, and it's pleasant to walk around or take the free electric buses for a tour. Good bookstore with English-language books. Cheap and delicious vegetarian food can be found here, a definite highlight for me. But it's a good spot for eating all kinds of cheap and authentic Thai food. There's a meditation centre nearby, and Sukhothai is very close. Welcome.

Personal DescriptionI'm happy to host when I can, but I'm very busy these days, and may not be able to spend much time with you. If you don't mind exploring on your own, if you're a self-sufficient traveler, then it will be no problem.
I'm a minimalist, though a compromising minimalist in marriage. All of my necessary possessions fit into a knapsack. I get around mostly by walking. I have no religious or nationalistic affiliation deep down. Here are some references people have given me on hospitalityclub.org.:
1) "Dan keeps showing up like a lucky penny. And we hope he continues to visit whenever he is in our area. He has become Herriott the Wonder Dog's best friend and our neighbourhood can't believe the improvement he's made in our front yard. Easygoing, interested and caring about those around him, a great conversationalist, and always willing to pitch in, Dan is a great guset.....So.... if he is ever in your area asking for Hospitality...don't miss the chance....say YES!"
2) "Dan is an easygoing man. We had fun, my children laughed a lot:-) He improved my English website-texts (even if he didnt understand what it meant, even in English, hehe...) Well welcome him back at anytime.
3) "Dan was a very considerate and friendly guest. He was super low-maintenance type of guest. He took care of himself and only needed the place to sleep. We hung out a bit and it was fun!"
And, from a helpx.net host: "Dan proved to be a great helper who worked very hard and I would recommend him to anyone who wants a great helper and he is very friendly and easy to get on with And all the best in the future."

I visit Vancouver once a year. It's my time to splurge. Here are some of my critiques of Vancouver restaurants:
http://dinehere.ca/profile/leonard-hOne Amazing Thing I've Seen or DoneI was working on a farm in Michigan, and after work I was talking to someone about how I never tell my mother I love her, and maybe I should improve on that. Later that week I was taking a walk along a country road when I noticed the glimmer of sunshine on metal in the thick growth near the road shoulder. I looked closer, and saw that it was an old, dirty Michigan souvenir license plate. It read I LOVE U. I took it back to my room, cleaned it up, and sent it to my Mom. Opinion on the CouchSurfing.org ProjectA big THANK YOU to all of you couchsurfing volunteers and donors who do a service to mankind by maintaining couchsurfing.org. Locations Traveled
What do these numbers mean?
This summary is not a replacement for reading references; it's a quick summary to help you get started. At a glance, you can see how many references a member has, and how many of them are positive, neutral, and negative.
In the second line, you'll see how many references came from people who hosted this member, surfed with them, and traveled with them. These numbers won't always add up to the total: some references are not categorized, and some may be categorized as more than one thing.
When viewing this summary, don't jump to conclusions! Things that are negative for one person may be positive for another, and vice versa. It's important to read references carefully and evaluate what that information means to you. References (26)25Positive 1Neutral 0Negative

He and his wife love bali peanut and pecel very much. I hope someday I could bring you the bali peanut when I visited your place
From Soejenli Tejasukmana Surabaya, Indonesia Apr 14, 2011 Positive I host Mr Dan (Kyoozoo) and his wife for one night. They are such a nice couple and well mannered. We were talking about life, religion, meditation and spiritual things. It was a very interesting discussion. I wish to visit him in Phitsanulok and take meditation course in Tha Sung temple near his town. See you again next December, my friend.
From Brittany-Jane Royal Charlotte Amalie, US Virgin Islands Dec 13, 2010 Positive Dan has been such a positive light during my experience here in Thailand! I am eternally grateful for the time he spent with me, teaching me all about the culture and helping me find wonderful vegetarian food. I was fortunate enough to be in Phitsanulok for Loi Krathong festival, where we attended a celebration at Naresuan University.
Thank you again, Dan, it was a blessing to meet you :)

From THEKAT Vancouver, Canada Jun 26, 2010 Positive I gave Dan and his friend a ride from Seattle to Vancouver. They were fun and interesting and great company for the ride. They even indulged my strange fascination with grocery stores by happily participating in my wild goose chase for Bellingham's Trader Joe's. I was a little nervous about crossing the border with strangers, but we had no difficulties whatsoever. A good person to meet!
From Lesley Marie Boileau Cobourg, Canada May 5, 2010 Positive Never in my life have I met someone who loves to walk so much... dispite a long day travelling the roads and trails, lovely Dan joined me on my evening walk too.
