About Me

I consider myself blessed, and appreciative of everyday I've been given. I’m a humble, down to earth, free spirited, creative, conscious, easy going person expressing love and light. I love meeting PEOPLE, exploring new PLACES, eating traditional PLATES of food, and going to unique PARTIES around-the-world.

Creator of (www.LifeOnStandby.com) travel blog about my unconventional life seeing each destination in a locals perspective with the mission to seek different cultures by the help of hospitable strangers to share my adventures, and inspire others to travel. Life-On-Standby is about more than just getting to see new places and things, it’s about making special connections with people and learning all about their culture, lives, and philosophies.

I was born to Cuban Immigrant parents in Hollywood, Florida, raised in section 8 public housing. My first time on a plane (started late) was when I was 22 yrs. old; I immediately caught the travel bug and wanted to travel more. Not having any money or resources. I got a job working for an Airline which allowed me to fly "STAND-BY". Within 4 years (2008-2012) on a shoestring budget I’ve flown over 250,000 miles as a STANDBY passenger.

Travel has changed my life and being a traveler is more than a hobby for me, it’s who I am! I believe that "hospitality exchange" is a great form of traveling and that life is about the people you meet, and the things you create with them.

Family oriented and a Proud Big Brother for
(Big Brother Big Sister www.bbbs.org) mentoring organization since 2006 and still volunteering. In conclusion this is only just a part of me and it's amazing to think it has only just begun.

PHILOSOPHY

"Happiness in life is about stepping into necessary uncertainty and not needing to know the outcome - because if we are honest - we rarely, if ever, know."

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

By exchanging hospitality and culture! I always discuss CS and share my experiences to everyone I meet and explain to them that travel is clearly important to me but it's about more than just getting to see new places and things, it's about making special connections with people and learning all about their culture, lives and philosophies.

Teach, Learn, Share

I believe that traveling can change anyones life! The first time I ever left my home state of Florida and flew on a plane I was 22 years old. Since then I have traveled as much as possible. It has changed who I am, and I believe that Couchsurfing is an extension of that; it has changed the way I see traveling, I now not only see the benefits of experiencing a new place with hospitable strangers but also learning to overcome the fear that most people have when traveling to a foreign place. If you have not Couchsurfed and are afraid to do it, don’t hesitate... “Each time we face our fear, we gain strength, courage, and confidence in the doing.”
