About Me

CURRENT MISSION

Explore places and meet people in and around the U.S.

ABOUT ME

I love nature, culture, rock climbing, Capoeira, Yoga and tasting foreign food! I am an open minded spontaneous traveler who likes to learn from other cultures and integrate positivity and lightness in everyday life.

I moved from Berlin, Germany to Austin, Texas and I try to escape the heat every summer by traveling somewhere.
Besides, rock climbing also opened an additional world of travel opportunities to me.

PHILOSOPHY

I want to experience as much as possible to be fulfilled at the end of my time on this planet.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I am amazed that it works!! CS makes it incredible easy to meet people. Couchsurfers are always kind and helpful. I have been enjoying that a lot.

Since I have always been welcomed so warmly, I like to return the pleasure to other travelers, too, when I have place to do that…

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

Always good! Always a warm welcome!

A few times I hosted people in Germany who had an audition at a School for Theatre/Actor the next day.
Also travelers from the US who I took on a bike tour. I enjoyed to discover places in my hometown which I hadn't seen myself yet.

In Jan.2011 I was hosted in Kiruna in north of Sweden for 4 nights. 2 of them we spend in a cabin in the countryside at a frozen lake surrounded by northern lights - it was amazing!

Also I had a good experiences when I traveled to Stockholm, Helsinki, Tallinn and Oslo. In total I was hosted by 8 different people in that period. It was very exciting. You never know who you meet next. It had always been an incredible time.

I totally recommend to move to different hosts when you stay in the same town more than 2 or 3 days. That way you get to see so much more of the city and the locals.

In Jokkmokk, Sweden I met some other CouchSurfers, They couldn't host me, cause the house was already full but we had a nice and cosy chat. I was very welcomed to come back and surf their couch another time .

Iceland was the most incredible travel and CS experiences I had so far. Very adventurous.

Music, Movies, and Books

FILM: I like indie, drama, coming-of-age, science fiction and french movies, TV shows: I try to stay away from them because they are so addictive and take up too much time of my life but I saw a bunch of good ones: Queens Gambit, Babylon Berlin, Breaking Bad, …
MUSIC: folk & world music, soundtracks such as Kill Bill, Frida Kahlo, Slumdog Millionar... when it comes to dancing I enjoy electronic the most.

Books: adventure stories, Harry Potter, contemporary fairytales such as "My Grandmother Asked Me to Tell You She's Sorry", Salman Rushdie, Jules Vernes, Christopher Moor, Douglas Adams, Eric-Emmanuel Schmitt, Tomas Morus' Utopia,... Herman Hesse"Narziß und Goldmund" &co," Star Diaries" by Stanislav Lem, ...

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Bathing in hot turquoise water 10 meters (30 feet) deep in a crack somewhere in Iceland below an endless field of lava rocks ;-)

Teach, Learn, Share

It would be my pleasure to take you rock climbing and make you familiar with the safety instructions.

I can teach bookbinding and dream catcher making. I also recently learned more about herbal medicine and love to share my knowledge.

I can show you the old way of blowing up photographs in the lab (given I can get access to a lab).

As a passionate cook I am curious about new recipes and inspiration.
And I’d like to freshen up my Swedish, Italian, French and ASL and learn Spanish and Portuguese.

I'm always open for a good book recommendation!
