I am an Erasmus exchange student in Netherlands and my aim is to explore Netherlands as much as possible and thanks to these two lovely people I explored Utrecht. Thank you! I had a nice chill-out weekend as well. :)

First ride with a bike and that was fun! Thanks for watching me out and waiting behind traffic lights!! :)

Liza and Jasper are a great pair - really friendly, happy, enthusiastic and welcoming. They are busy during the week but this suited me fine as it left me lots of room to do my work. Their attic is cosy and lovely, and their sofa bed one of the most comfortable around. I loved watching Dutch comedy with them (in English, due to my lack of bi-lingualness!) and sharing my kidney-bean-pie recipie with them, even if the cheese didn't really melt and I used waaaay too much beans for the depth of the pot. (Sigh... recipie fail!)

They're deep into the CS community and Jasper gives an excellent, entertaining historical tour of all the prettiest places (and best beer bars) in Utrecht.

Love the political discussion, too. :)

And wow - biggest coincidence ever... they've hosted Alice Broos from Brisbane before - just saw it in their references. She's a friend of mine from waaaay back - we're both science-nerds! :)

She came to my dinner party and stayed the night as well. It was inspiring to hear the stories of an experienced CS-er, hope to meet her again!

 

Liza and Jasper were great hosts as well as good people to sit and chat with. It was a short stay, but a good one, especially for my first couch surfing! Hope to run into you guys in Utrecht next time I'm in!

 

Surfed with Liza for two days. Liza is one of the most calm and relaxed persons that I have met. She always has a smile on her and is a very positive person. One cannot help but be happy with her! It was a very short but fantastic time that I had with Liza and Jasper and I would love to have been able to spend more time. Thanks Liza!

Liza was very kind as a host. We did not have much time to spend together, as she was working and my and my friends were extremely eager to see the most of Amsterdam, which is not the city where Liza actually lives. However, in spite of her local patriotism :), she turned out to be quite understanding when it comes to our intercity trips. I guess that what really brought us all together was the fact that we all are deeply rooted in "education system". Oh, well... :D

I had a great time in Utrecht with Liza and Jasper. They are very easy to talk to and get to know, and make you feel at home straight away.

Jasper spent some time with me showing me around the city, I had apple & cheese pancakes, met some of their friends and partied hard on the last night.

If you are in Utrecht, then do yourself a favour and stay with Liza & Jasper!!

Oh, and watch out for Mees when he gets excited!! Cheers for letting me stay guys!!

I stayed at Jasper and Liza's house after a CS picnic and outing at Ekko, a local club in Utrecht. They were great company and showed me and a friend around town a bit. Oh, and they have a beautiful and lovely cat! :)

 

Lisa has a personality which is immediately likable. She strikes me as being truly kind. It was great staying with her and Jasper because I felt their personalities were really complimentary. Their's a warm atmosphere in their house that I will remember fondly.

I first met her briefly in Vienna, but I was also hosted by her during the Middersommernight week-end where she was an active organizer. I consider myself lucky - the couch was comfy, the hosts are cozy and the cat is.. a cat :) The ambiance at her place was nice, with a lot of guests around, and even if I went to sleep quite early I wasn't bothered at all. Thanks for this fantastic week-end!

Liza and her boyfriend were great. They are really energetic and make good conversation. They are very clean and polite. They were even so kind as to bring us some cheese from the Netherlands. We had fun talking with them and playing a game.

 

Surfing at Liza's place was one of my most "professional" CS experiences. I say this only in a positive sense, of course. Event though Liza was super busy with a huge CS event, she found time to chat with me and find some things for me to do. Liza is very friendly and seems to know her way around all sorts of people. Liza organized the Couchsurfing meeting I attended in Utrecht. As a newbie to Couchsurfing, I was impressed by her energy and I really appreciated how welcome she made me feel. :)

It was very nice to meet this happy girl! I've met Liza on a CS meeting in R'dam.

 

I have so many memories of my time staying with Liza and Jasper and they're all fantastic! Thanks for letting me stay for the couple of days with Koninginnenacht and dag as I'll remember the VetBoi Slim Dans Klup for a very very long time ;-)

I was also constantly amazed at how active the CS community is in Utrecht and a large part of it are these two hard workers!

Oh and I hope you guys get to see The Cat Empire live sometime!!!

Liza is a genuinely great person to be around - her fun and bubbly nature is infectious, which makes for a great stay in Utrecht. I'll never forget my first CS meeting that she and Jasper took me to, and the dinner out of GIANT pannenkoeken followed by board games - awesome!

Liza and Jasper are wonderful hosts. They seem to know every single person in Utrecht and socialize a lot so it never gets boring. You'll go home with plenty of new friends.If you have a longboard take it with you. Liza has strong legs and can pull you around town if you manage to hold on to her bike. Great fun!

she is a very nice and kind host. we cooked in her kitchen together, chated alot about our travel, and also Campus of university Utrecht, which was her Alma Mater and one of my major viewpoint for the travel in Utrecht as archi student. she has a very cute cat. it's so pity that we didn't play together,cause i fear of all cats &dogs. Liza is very comprehensive and understood what i feel, she explained & introuduced its character , made me feel more easy :).
during the supper, we talked about our travel plan, she& Jasper gave us some useful advice and Information about Belgium.it was a very nice night with them.

Liza and Jasper are both open and active! It was really nice to have 'night snack' with them:) Besides, I was so happy to find lots of lovely things around their sweet place, incl. little Mees (sorry we made a mistake in the guestbook...) :D

Liza and Jasper were really nice. We planned on staying with them one night but like it so much we stayed two! Liza made us feel comftorable immediately and taught me how to ride on the back of a bike (even though it didn't turn out so well). Overall it was a very positive experience.

Liza surfed our place (together with Jasper) for just one night, and we could spend together just a couple of hours. We shared a pleasant dinner though, and it was great to hear about all their CS experiences!

Such a fantastic host in the pretty city of Utrecht! Stayed at Liza and Jasper's home over a night. During my brief stay I was introduced to other CSers, their cute little cat and Dutch tv (am still fascinated about wipeout!). Liza and Jasper are generous and open-minded people. Liza is incredibly active in the Utrecht CS community, I can't even begin to imagine how much of her time goes into hosting people, organising events, facilitating meetings, and simply having a blast when it comes to being in touch with other human beings. Can't say much more except that I'm sure she's a model CS ambassador if there ever was one :)

I stayed a couple of nights with Liza and Jasper, and it was great. I didn't see Liza that much (she worked late, sad!), but it was really great hanging out during the brief time I was able to spend with her.

when Jasper brought me home along with two other surfers she didn't even blink. She can make you feel welcome in a very 'normal' and natural way, without making a big fuss about it.

I stayed with Liza and her boyfriend Jasper for one night. She was so nice to pick me up at the station in Utrecht. I went back to the city to do bit of sightseeing and when I came back she had already cooked dinner. Later, there was the "music quiz" meeting at their flat, which was a cool idea of Jasper. I liked the friendly couple and their cosy place... and their cat was lovely, too!

Liza is a great person to be around with. She is happy and friendly person, who enjoys live.

 

First i mailed Liza an invitation for our national Ambassador meeting and then i went to the Rotterdam Sinterklaas, but there it was too crowded to speak each other. In Berlin outside the Wintercamp then we had the chance to met in a quiet Cafe with games and we spend a nice evening there. Liza is very relaxed and i hope we will met in 2009 again on some CS meetings/events again.

After meeting at Berlin Winter Camp I watched Lisa and her furry friends battled for the justice as "The Utrecht 3" masked crime fighting team. Sadly after foiling many a formidable German evildoer they were unable to repeat their success at table tennis.

 

Although we both live in Holland, we prefer to meet only in Berlin :-P

I met Liza in Berlin winter camp 2008. We didn`t spend much time together, but nevertheless in small talks we had I got very positive impression about Liza and got desire to leave a reference here:)
Liza is sincere person, she (also Jasper)is truly interested in other people and eager to bring people together and make the world a better place.
I do hope to have chance to surf Liza`s & Jasper`s couch and hang around with them some day while exploring beautiful country of the Netherlands.

I am happy that my first CouchSerfing experince was a serfing at her place. She and Jasper inspired me with the "phylosophy" of this community. I realised what fun it is to meet so nice, open-minded, funny, crazy people - like Liza is!

Weird how we still hardly personally met, when we are both pretty involved in CS and have been at some same meetings. So far I have a good impression of her, especially from when she came to our Groningen monthly meetings, because she seems friendly, and sincere and simple in her approach to CS.

Liza has sweet written al over her... it's impossible not to adore her when you meet her. Her bubbly and almost always smiling face works infectuous on a crowd!

Definetly looking forward to meet her again when I come to Utrecht (not too long from now :))

We met at the Sinterklaas Meeting in Rotterdam and had great fun.. I got her present at the Event and loved so much the cute monkey bag!! Won't forget this unforgettable meeting.. See you soon, Sweetie!

We hosted Liza and Jasper just before we left for holidays: she's open-minded and active. Unfortunately we were busy and we'd loved to spend more time with them showing them around, but they did it really well: they even went to a CS meeting in Barcelona.

 

Liza is one of the most active members of the CS community. She's always in a good mood and willing to help people out. It's always fun to meet up! :)

 

I hosted Liza and her boyfriend Jasper in Toulouse in July. Though they stayed only for a night, I thoroughly enjoyed their company and our exchanges over diner and drinks. Discussing with those two is a great pleasure plus they are just as curious and passionate about CS than I am - I look forward to the next time we cross paths :)

I was hosted (along with a friend) by Liza and Jasper and would have to say it was an all round positive experience. Though we didn't get much time together, it was enough to draw positive conclusions!

Liza is a great gal, she always seems to have a smile on her face which is always conducive to a nice time out! It's to bad we didn't have more of a chance to chat.

 

Liza and Jasper hosted me and a friend for two nights in Utrecht. They are a wonderful couple who are true CSers. We had a great time just wandering the city and taking in the beautiful architecture and scenery. They took us to a Bokbierfestival with other CSers and I'll always remember riding the bicycles back. Your always around good people, good music and good times with Liza and Jasper.

I met Lisa and her boyfriend Jasper on my combined walking/bicyling-tour for the Opening of FESTIVAL of LIGHTS. We on the bikes met the walkers on each point and then had some chats about the places and Berlin-stories. Also Lisa assisted me with my photographing and protected the tripod as a "bodyguard" in that chaotic crowd at Unter den Linden/Bebelplatz ;-) THANKS a lot for your help. I felt much more comfortable and safe. I'm sorry I did this never ending cursing all the time because the camera didn't want to work. The camera came back to life only at the Brandenburg Gate later. This long Sit-In at the Gendarmenmarkt was awesome. Like in my old student days. I'm so sorry, that you had to leave at that point because of going back to Utrecht. And I would have liked to see you more often before. Maybe we have a chance at Berlin WinterCamp??? Would love it! If you need a host.... just ask ;-)))

 

I'm looking forward to get to know Liza in real life, but as Felicity she was very friendly (although she probably had her reasons for that in the game;))

I've met Liza some more times; we cooked tapas together (very delicious!); while organizing a music quiz she made me a good American soup and after the music quiz, when I missed my train, Jasper and Liza helped me out by hosting me! Well, see you some more!

 

I had a lot of fun on the 'Casino Fatal' evening, and of course Liza was there, since it was in 'her town'. She seems very nice and pillar to the Utrecht CS community!

She also was ill and showed up at the roleplay event Casino Fatale, so we had something in common. ;)

We had lots of fun at the evening and she can dance very good! :P

Liza is Utrecht's gift to CS :) She's intelligent, friendly and definitely worth meeting. I have the feeling that with more time we could have extremely interesting conversations, so I can't wait seeing her again!

I met Liza at the CS Monty Python meeting. She and Jasper introduced me to being active on CS. And one of the first things she told me was to act normal. and ever since the Monty Python evening I did (more or less) :-). She is a hospitable, cheerful, upbeat woman with a lot of energy and a heart of gold to be frank (Hello Frank)
And I enjoyed all my stays with them very much. And her company during the Dutch lessons as well. She, Jasper and many others are the core of CS Netherlands and you most likely going to meet them if you visit Utrecht or the Netherlands in general. If not, I advice you go and meet them :-)

I've met Lisa at several gatherings and ambassador gatherings. Lisa is pretty straight forward, active and sociable. As an active CS ambassador of Utrecht she has many stories about great CS adventures with Jasper. I'm looking forward to getting to know her better!

We talked about Swedish people. It was interesting. Liza seems to be someone who has eyes in the back of her head to check if everyone is doing well, which makes her a good ambassador!

Well, what can I say, she's my sister if I didn't trust her, that would be strange, wouldn't it? :) She tells me where stuff is, where I sleep, and that's fine. We basicly understand each other with little words. And the atmospere is good.

Despite some unexpected problems she found in Madrid, i think she enjoyed her stay. I wasn't the las 2 days with her, but i had fun hanging out with her the first 2. Another thing i realized about her is that she doesnt like the sp train stations (but the sp train stations dont like her either).

Hosting this couple, was the easiest for me, getting to know them, was difficult because I just met them for a day, but they are trully the CS spirit, they were a charming and well-behaved, respectful couple ever to visit my place.

Liza and Jasper are a very nice couple. The first night they saved our day by bringing the wine - we had forgotten it was a holiday ;).

It was great to randomly meet a someone with the same surname via couch surfing. (not too many Van Kuyks in New Zealand!) The more i learn about couch surfing the more im impressed and Liza is a perfect example of couch surfing at its best. She's always running around organising something fun - i wonder how she holds down a job too!??

Liza and Jasper are some of the best CS hosts around! Liza deserves the title of a CS ambassador. They are very welcoming, friendly, generous and interesting. They are intelligent minds and free spirits worthy of a couch. Thanks so much for making my stay in Utrecht so good. Jasper & Lisa are the greatest CS Host ever! We had a great time surfing their couch. Few times have one the opportunity to meet such a nice and friendly couple, who welcomes you not only in their house with other several CS but organize also a big party in the city! They both treated us with a hospitality along with giving you the opportunity to get to know the very special Netherlands culture through the most fantastic way, a treasure hunting! all the best & thank you again for your effort & commitment. Liza and Jasper have a beautiful new home that they kindly invited me into so I could revisit the awesome city I studied abroad at two years ago! Hearing about her volunteering work in Sweden and her being an active member in the CS community must show that Liza has a big heart.

I saw her announcements and comments in groups many times and pictured her to be a nice person. When we met for the first time during Queens' Night 2008 we didn't have much talking opportunities, but I'm convinced that she is indeed that nice person. I'm sure I will see her again to get a better opinion.

 

Liza is a very open, enthusiastic warm person. She was actually the one who conviced me that being a City Ambassador isn't a big job but big fun.

 

Liza is the Utrecht ambassador for CouchSurfing and she does a superb job. She and her partner Jasper always organise the monthly meetings in the student city of Utrecht. This is also where we first met. Since than i got to know her a little, a quicksilver minded, kind, funny, open and socialy very skilled personality. She is a good laugh and really versatile, she and Jasper make an excellent couple! We even worked together on a CS music party project and it was a great succes, also mucho thanks to their efforts. We met Liza and Jasper when we surfed their couch in Utrecht. Jasper showed us around and explained us the history of the city (incredible what he knows about Utrecht). In the evening we went out with Liza for a few drinks, thanks to her I discovered Kriek (cherry beer), mmmh...

Liza seems to be very organized, independent and at the same time fun and crazy :) So she combines childishness and grownupness in one! Lucky people those who got hugged by her that day during Free Hugs Utrecht action! They must have been infected by her crazy wibes :)

Liza has been very nice with Antoine and me, we had a sympathetic couchsurf at her home.

 

Liza hosted me and Arnaud during 2 nights in Utrecht. She is a smilling, talkative person, and she is proud of her city, which is very great to visit, and certainly to live there. We have the same enthousiasm of CS, and we found many similarity between the CS communities of Utrecht and Lille. You are friendly welcomed to discover the one of Lille Liza, and naturally with Jasper !

Liza is a good flatmate to have, never had any troubles with here, could be that that's the case because she's more at her boyfriends place then at home and that I don't see her very often because of that. But when she is at home she's allways good to have around. Liza, maybe you should visit your home a little bit more often :)

Liza is definitely a very genuine and friendly person to be around.

 

Liza surfed my couch in Padua, Italy. She is so nice! One of the most beautiful smiles I've ever seen!

 

Couchsurfing Utrecht = Liza & Jasper. You should meet those two. I am so glad that I know them through CS! They are the most passionate CSers I ever met. They will let you feel as if you were in your home town. Check also the Utrechtmeetings, they will be there!

Kind and warm are euphemisms for Liza's character. Jasper was quite buzy so I spent some time chatting with her.
She has an interesting, open and generous personality, I really enjoyed meeting her and Jasper also in Rotterdam. Listening to her speaking in swedish brought back memories of the guy that got me into cooking in the forst place : boodyboodymuoonymush (the swedish chef) ! Interesting travel plans for new years also... Might copy them. Thanks for the couch&hospitality in your wonderful flat !

Liza has played a big role in getting the cs scene in Utrecht to blossom. She's a radiant person and I am sure a wonderful host to this lovely city. I hope to see more of her and her boyfriend Jasper in the future. Next games night I'll surely be there!

Liza is my long forgotten sister, I never knew i had one, but i've found her on the couchsurfmeetings:P Liza is really cool, full of energy, and always in for fun! She's an active and enthousiastic couchsurfgirl!

First time I met her was fantastic in Rotterdam and nog a long time later we met again in Utrecht.
After this meeting we met countless and I can only say that I trust her fully and she is always ready for giving me a nice hug back and that I really love to hug.
Anyway everytime I see her i can't resist it to smile and she is together with Jasper one of my best friends.

Liza is a friendly CS ambassador in Utrecht that speaks my native language (Swedish) too, I crashed at her and Jesper's place after a monthly CS meeting in December 2008.

Liza knows where the best pancakes are at and I wish we had more time to hang out as I got a really good impression of how much more of a cool person she is. Her bike is a bit mad so salutes to her for doing it well like a true Dutch citizen LOL!! Oooh Ratatouille...

I and my boyfriend stayed with her and her boyfriend for one night, we were eating together, laughing a lot. She is chariming and full of life person. When you meet her you feel like she is your old friend. Friendly, with a great sense of humor. You and Jasper are always welcome as my guests!

Liza is great! Organizing all the meetings and even lending out her room for a few weeks!
Fun, Bubbly, Happy, Energetic are all words that would describe Liza!

This girl embodies the true Couchsurfing spirit. She and Jasper would make great city ambassadors for Utrecht, as they go out of their way to unite people. I've met Liza several times now, and I'm sure we will meet again!

Update: When I found myself homeless in Utrecht she offered me to take over her room for the time needed while she stayed at Jasper's place. She showed hospitality and stood up for me when I was in need. We had really nice, deep talk around a cup of tea and I would recommend her for hosting or surfing to anyone.Very enthousiastic and joyfull person.
UPDATE: Midsummernight in Utrecht was the best of all and even though Jasper and Liza were running all over the place to organize and make sure all went well, we enjoyed their company. They hosted us and they made sure we felt at home. Incredible couple!

I met Liza at my first CS meeting in Utrecht! Had a really great time chatting with her about travels and interests! ;) She's a really nice girl,enthousiastic and the one busy organizing the monthly CS meetings! I think that's really great :) I'm sure we'll meet again soon! :)

Liza organized a very successful CS meeting in Utrecht. We had dinner, played games and had a great time at a Balkan party! Two days later we met again at the cultural festival. See you next time in Utrecht!

Liza is one of the most easygoing and friendly people I've met. I showed up at sziget looking for couchsurfers to crash with and though she didn't have a tent or couch available, she introduced me to friends, other couchsurfers, and lots of good music. Couchsurf with her, host her, whatever- you'll have a great time!

Liza not only surfs couches but she also rocks at crowd surfing. So happy to have met her. A really spunky, warm person. Hope I can visit Liza and her other half(Jasper) in the Netherlands soon!

We had a lot of fun at Sziget 2007 and besides that she and Jasper introduced us to several funny games. She is a really nice and friendly person and a pleasure to spend time with.

Liza is the blondest girl at our meetings. Haven't spoke with her THAT much.. but.. c'mon.. she is a devoted CouchSurfer, and she has taken the hard lead to bring the Utrecht surfers together, despite rain, loud music and mud.

Liza is one of the nicest people what I know from Neatherland: friendly, has good humour, knows many funny games, a good organisator, hoster etc... Figure out yourself more! ; )

When my friend and I approached the group of cool-looking people sitting in the park, unsure if these were the CS folks we were looking for, Liza was the first person to jump up and welcome us! During the evening I got the impression that she is a really laid-back and fun person, as well as being quite clever with the tricky little games we were playing (even at 4am!). She is really cool and fun to hang out with, likes to laugh and smile, and is absolutely open to sharing good times with new people :) I hope to meet again somewhere..

Liza is my flatmate and is the person who introduced me to couchsurfing. She is a fun and friendly person and as I've seen a great host!

Liza shown us very nice places where you can drink or buy hundreds of different beers....that was amazing!!! She also went out with us a wensday night....wich is not the costum in Utrecht!!! It this moment she lives in my house for some weeks, so this is about the ultimate crouchsurf experience. She introduced me to croush surfing, I'm quite sure we will be enjoying crouch surving togerher a lot in the future. She is always enthousiastic, fun to be with and absolutely sincere.

Liza is a really nice and warm person, and definitely easy-going and trustworthy. I had great time hosting her, but most importantly she's a person with whom it's easy to make friends with as she is talkative and caring and definitely smiles a lot! Liza spent only one night at our place but I really need to say that from that day on she has had a home - and a friend - in Helsinki whenever she decides to travel here! :)
