Brandon Gottung

Brandon was a gracious host, a good cook and good to talk with about Asia...and travel/life in general.

 

What a fine host! I felt very comfortable staying with Brandon; he was both hospitable and accommodating. I really enjoyed chatting with him about travel and science and meeting his equally welcoming roommate and friends. I am thankful to have spent the weekend in such a pleasant home and I look forward to seeing Brandon around Madison, as well as putting to good use his plethora of tips on beer brewing and pancake making. Oh, Ruby the house cat is worth meeting too!

 

Brandon seems to be able to squeeze the essence of life from each minute he has. I came away inspired and refreshed from my stay with him. Thanks Brandon for your amazing hospitality!

 

What an individual! Brandon is great, with lots of wild stories. You should go out of your way to meet this guy. Hope to see you again this summer!

Brandon is very adventures and smart. He showed me Madison and introduced to many friends of his. I enjoyed every second of my trip. Deinitely trust this person and would love to hitch together one day. Thanks for a great time!

I loved it that, although you'd been in romania only a few days, and you weren't staying for long, you made an effort to learn the language and have conversations with random people. Brandon has always been extreemly open minded, easy going, generally happy and interested with even life's most turbulent trials, and always comes to you with genuine ideas/ feelings/ creativity to keep you lemon fresh and beyond

He is crazy. Just Like me -)))). He is really easy-going and it was nice to meet him and drink with him (And he doing it good!!!!!) He was in so many places and hope he will be in many more. But hope he will come back to Russia someday.

Crazy hitch-hiker from USA. He is hitch-hiked in such dungerous like Chechnya and Afganistan.

Meeting this man was one of the most unexpectedly amazing experiences of my recent life. He is so disarmingly honest, transparent, and open that he is impossible to dislike. His way of looking at the world makes him not only refreshing to be around, but is inspiring to be around. If you have the chance to spend time with Brandon, and you do not, you are foolish.

Brandon came on Christmas day and stayed few nights. He was just coming home from his great asian journey and shared some stories with me and my friends. He is silent, but he has a lot to say.

Brandon has been everywhere and has amazing stories to tell. The porcupine quill he got from India(?) is the biggest I have ever seen! He was a lot of fun, and I hope to one day visit him up north in the states!

Great man,with great story about his traveling.We spand short time together but it was enough to see that he is very positive person,I hope we will see again.

Brandon is a cool guy who has a really open mind about the world around him. He was a respectful host and did not mind my ridiculous sleeping hours. Trustworthy and interesting to talk to, a day with Brandon is somewhat of an adventure!

Brandon is great traveller!!! He was in so BIG amount of countries - it is very interesting to listen to all the stories of his journey! He is very kind and unworried that's why his stay was very pleasant.He is very independent couch-surfer - that was really important for me 'cuz I'm quite busy with my studies and work...Hope to see you in future!Definitely!

 

Astounding REAL backpacker spent a lot of time in nature. He is open mined American guy fallen in love with Lenin and Russia with a lot of what to say and being patient to hear others. It was pleasure to host him.

Brandon is a very insightful person, has seen a lot, tries to get to the heart of what he sees and to identify reasons of what is happening. I was very lucky to meet him and spend couple of hours talking to him. I would like to meet again and may be that happens in Wisconsin one day. If you have a chance to host or meet Brandon - go on :)

 

Brandon is one of rare truly warm persons. I felt privileged to host him in my house and communicate with him. I rapidly became fascinated with his 18 months travel througout the whole Asia (Russian empire, China, Tibet, Indian sub-continent, Uzbekistan, Georgia etc.), hitch-hiking, improvising and living with local people. I now read his other references and notice that most persons he meet felt also influenced and motivated by his ways. His quest for humannes and his conviction that man is essentially peaceful and hospitable are accomplishments that he seems to live accordingly. Often, the European and US people need to dig deep to re-discover these latent ressources. We spent three nights in Bucharest, drinking tea on the carpet, Pakistani style :), listening to King Crimson and Turkmen fusion-rock, talking about cultures and their values. His travel stories are striking, as well as his humour. Enjoyed his enthousiasm with Russian spirit and Asian naturalness in general. Great companion, educated, uninhibited, ready to explore and understand! I also like now the way he presents himself in his profile "I'm a valid human being".

Brad is one of the best persons i meet in my life and he is a extreme adventurist. I meet him in St. Petersburg and it was a great time with him and it was nice to meet him. He loves travelling and also understand different cultures and traditions. I trust him like i trust myself.

I hosted him a night. Having conversation with him is nice. He is so friendly and his hearth is full of goodness. He is a voyager i have ever seen.

Brandon illustrated to me the true meaning of travel. He inspired me to get out and see the world in a manner which before I had thought impossible

We meet several times, in St-Petersburg, Moscow, Irkutsk and now in Osh, Kyrgyzstan. Very interesting man, have the good knowledge of Russia! I wish him success to get Russian visa next time :)

a very nice fellow! Brandon - he is a thoughtfull and grounded young man who has interests and maturity that exceed his age. He threw together a dinner without a recipe using the theory that a bit of improvisation makes the world more interesting. The food and conversation were both top notch. He made me feel very much at home amoung his roomates and friends ...

A great guy that have something to contribute on any topic of discussion. I am sure that if you host him during his travel he will have lots to share!
