Met Patrick on one of his last days in Belgium and we had Brussels Fries together! Nice guy and I would bet that he is a great host or guest.

 

I'm glad to have finally met this fine ambassador of the Lac Sergent Pepper's not so lonely hearts club band even if I only stayed in less glamourous Ste-Foy. He's easy going, patient and has some quick repartee on the ready. Au plaisir!

 

Patrick is the guy with the knowledge! He grow up around and the town have little secret for him. We meet time to time in CS meeting. He is a great guy with who is easy to go along, with many travel experiences to share. We can't speak of Patrick without mention of the beautiful Megan with who he just made a promise! We will meet often enough for sure!

 

Patrick was a great host. Enjoyed staying up late to talk about travels, and Patrick's studies and work in the fields of geography and urban planning. He has a great passion to push his studies further and help those around him. We also had a wonderful night out with the whole Quebec couchsurfing crew!

It was fun staying with Patrick and Megan, they are also pretty laid back hosts. I've met them twice while going to Quebec and would like to see them again.

Very good person, him and his partner Megan hosted me and it was my first coach surfing experience ever. It was a very good first experience! He is very helpful and it was fun to surf his coach.

Patrick hosted me for 3 nights in Quebec city. unfortunately he had to work a lot while I was there so we didn't spend a lot of time together. But even from work he cared and helped me find my way in Quebec, getting rides and everything I needed. I really didn't thanks you enough Buddy!

 

Patrick is a really nice, friendly and helpull person. he and his same wonderfull girlfriend megan offered us a last minute couch for two days after we just met them for a couple oh hours at a CS meeting in Quebec city. i felt really welcome at there place and wanna first apologyze that i havent react so long for the request.. little CS-lazy since im back home :( hope to see you again :)

Megan and Patric gathered me 29th December, I arrived really late, but he was really nice, and all people in her house too, I stayed just one night because I needed to drive all the day the 30th December to go to Fredericton, but I hope really to have another occasion to meet again this people!! thank you very much!

Patrick is an interesting person, with tons of information about the quebec region. It was a delight talking to him.

 

When I visisted Québec I had the pleasure of meeting Patrick and Megan at the weekly CS meeting. It turned out that they hosted me for two nights. They both are very friendly people and I enjoyed my stay at their place a lot. They also invited me to a New Years celebrations of Patricks family. It was a lovely day and we had lots of fun. Thank you both so much for your hospitality and kindness! I hope to meet you again somewhere around :)

Patrick is a great guy and wonderful host! My boyfriend and I stayed at his place as a last-minute request and as my first couchsurf, it was an awesome experience. Him and Megan are genuinely sweet, helpful and conversational people ... I certainly recommend to meet them. Hope 2010 is a blast :)

 

Although Megan was our primary host, Patrick gave us lots of useful information and drove us around Quebec city.

I'm glad Patrick was able to tailor his trip to meet with us for a hike in the Catskills and couchsurfing at John's in upstate NY. He has some interesting experience and stories to share from living abroad and traveling extensively, as well as good advice on crossing borders. Thanks for the lift, and I just now finally got your current mission: Charlie the unicorn!

Patrick was a great guest. He engaged in lively conversation, showed a good sense of humor and was good company.

 

Patrick and I had some great conversations at a recent local CS get- together. He is definitely a seasoned traveler who has had some very cool experiences and not afraid of adventure. Mild mannered and very easy to talk to.

We invited Patrick when he posted his interest in a NYS weekend trip. He drove all the way from his home in Québec and then dropped another CSer in Montréal on his way back. He was a great guest, easy-to-accommodate vegetarian in our meaty house, interesting conversationalist (he wants to tie CS-style travel in to local development), and willing hiker -- although the steep trail and 7.5 mile distance pushed his limits a little. We're looking forward to visiting him at some point.

It's allready yearrrs since we first and last met, but happily enough there is this thing called internet. And so your a friend on facebook, and now cs :)
Still remember the meeting in Warsaw, since it was my first one, and really had fun with you discussing all the drunken people in the bus back 'home'.
Hopefully we will meet again!

 

Patrick is truly a fun person to be around. Mike was lucky to have had him for a surfer...I'm glade he "shared" him with me the next day as we all went to the Albany musume and met up with another CS'er and their friend.

I look forward to spending time with him again in the future... maybe even in PQ for the Winter Carnival :)

BTW If I run low on cutlery I know who to contact LOL hope you get over the boader with no troubles...still think leaving the books/boxes on the train tracks could have been fun at impact LOL just kidd'in :)

I had the pleasure of Hosting Patrick on Nov. 13, 2009 while he was passing thru Upstate NY on his way to the Catskills. We then met after my work and met up with Teddy another cs member to go to the NYS Museum in Albany and then met another cs member Vincent From NYC and his friend Devin from the Albany area for coffee at the Muddy Cup.. It was a real pleasure to Meet Patrick and learn of his job, travels and hearing about his trip over the border to pick up items for his GF to take back to his GF... I would enjoy hosting Patrick again and spending more tme in Albany area looking at the sites as well as putting Tunie on the Tracks next to my home...

A long long time ago, but I remember a nice conversation and some good laughs :) Maybe see you 'round!

 

I met Patrick on the HC Winter Camp in Warsaw where we stayed at the same host with 1,2,3,4,5... at least 1 million other guests:-D It was a very positive experience to meet Patrick. A very sincere, trustworthy and super-friendly guy!

Definitely crazy time ;) First I invited him for 2 English lessons with kids at school where I teach. Then we spent some time with my lovely friend Anita (HC nickname: anwa82)....and I wanted Patrick and Ania (HC: phoebe78) for a dinner I prepared ealier :D So we went my home but I left my keys at school which was already closed :D So at the end I landed at Ania's home with Patrick over night and did a dinner there. The next day I invited him for the big fire-show done for social orphan kids.... just after show we and my friends home.Life is an experience... Now Patrick knows that magic mushrooms grow also on the meadows in the grass :D

Ha! I remember that Kloden Camp was my first HC big gathering in which I participated shortly after joining HC and hitch-hiking with Patrick was the first long distance hitchhiking i've done so there where a lot of special moments in that time. So now after long long time (4 years?) its great to remember all those things thanks to Patrick's reference:)
I remember Patrick as a clever, talkative and open-minded individualist very involved in the cause (a cause in that moment was hc, now cs perhaps?:)) He always put some fresh ideas to the conversations and was a good hichhiking companion...:)

 

It's a long time ago, but I still remember talking till late after midnight about the to me unknown history of Canada. Patrick is good person

Patrick was a great guest! I remember that he arrived quite tired at my place (he has already been travelling for a while) and he needed a nap. In the evening we had a nice dinner with him and my flatmate. We had fun during our Monopoly session and during our little seightseeing tour by bike through my hometown Münster(Germany). I enjoyed his compagnie and he is welcome every time at my place (eventhough i live in France now and can't really host).

This was my first CS experience and Patrick made the experience very smooth. I almost feel like this was the perfect CS experience, Patrick is a very knowledgeable local, super nice and very welcoming. I think him being on the outskirts of Quebec City is an advantage as the scenery is beautiful and I got to see different facets of Quebec life. Thanks so much Patrick!

Patrick was good fun to sit beside on the bus - he'd be a fine guest and host I'm sure - open, sharp and with a whole assortment of obscure but most useful information about the odd places eg how to get by crossing the international waters of Scandinavia...just ask!!

Patrick was a very knowledgeable and patient person, explaining the histories behind multiple small towns along the "king's road", on our way back from the Trois Riviere CS Meeting. And Patrick, I do thank you for setting aside that time for me - translating a lot of French conversations, and doing so much as an event organiser to welcome me in an "overwhelming crowd".

 

Patrick and his girlfriend were good company during the Trois-Rivieres CS gathering. During our ride across the historic villages of the Mauricie area, he provided us with a fair amount of information about the highlights we visited. He is polite, funny and very knowledgeable. Very good company. I really appreciate the time he spent organizing the meeting, it was a whole lot of fun.

 

Very helpful, very open-minded and, let's admit it, a little insane, Patrick's uniqueness is exactly what makes him such an interesting person. He always ends up making you see things a bit differently than you would have thought at first. A great guest without a doubt. I should be dropping in on some CS activities in Québec this fall, until then... :)

someone who makes you laugh like crazy without even trying very hard. and underneath that clown shell i felt a guy you can really count on.

 

'Twas good fun visiting a few local sites with Patrick. He's a friendly guy and most knowledgeable and zoning regulations. Most welcome on my couch again.

 

Patrick is someone really interesting able to talk about basically anything. His couchsurfing past is simply amazing. I really enjoyed the evening he came to my place along with Josy. I'm glad he liked my Rizotto :-)

 

If you want to live a completely crazy time, you have to hang out with Pat. He's very funny, a bit insane (just enough), somewhat unforseeable, but you'll find him very reliable.
When he looks at you directly in the eyes, beware, he's thinking of some mischief to do! :p

Great guy, took good care of my guest at the party. Specially in a black Yaris :P

 

I met Pat in several meetings and I had a lot of nice chats, I never get bored to speak with him and always had very good times…I also I found a very nice vegetarian friend (now I feel less alone in BBQ party), the ideal partner to share a sleeping spot (he dosen’t move and he dosen’t snore when he sleeps). And the best of all, even if he is totally cold by the frozen water where crazy CS go swimming (including me) he can give hugs that will warm you up! I am glad to have you in Quebec :)

Patrick is a wonderfully chill and quietly funny man. I enjoyed your company - our group enjoys a yin to our outgoing yang. Thanks!

 

As I can remember from the HC, he was patient for waiting for me so we could gather and discuss about societal and urban choices. He has his points that were relevant and looks very much like acerb criticisms. He is very opiniated. I could also add he was very helpful in guiding me through the city (not that obvious!). Although my stay was short, I surely would recommand him to anyone willing to discuss about "strenghten" topics.

 

Patrick stayed over at my house for a pleasant evening of chatting, with his girlfriend and they hitchhiking friend. All very nice people!

At first he seemed very quiet. But when the ice broke, it was a delight to talk to him.

Patrick and Megan instilled a new desire for me to travel to Africa and also taught me way more about Quebec than one could learn on Wikipedia. Thanks!

Once upon a time Patrick visited us during Christmas. It was so good to have him as a guest then, warm and positive memories from that time. Great friend, great traveler, great person to spend time with.

 

Great guy. Friendly personality. A little sad he took one of our favorite Kansas City ambassadors away from us, but knows he'll protect her from all those polar bears up in Canada.

We met Patrick by chance. We talked first about Canada and Belgium and he showed us Québec City. A week later we arrived at his place and stayed for a week. We made a forest walk through the snow and Patrick showed us the country side. He and his parents were very kind and always up for a nice conversation. Thanks again for your great help. It's nice to know that we can count on you and your parents when we are in the East. The same counts for you, whenever you are in Europe, you are always welcome! We definitely meet again.

During Patric visit by us we are going in extremal weather condicions to Babia Góra. Hi is a good fellow-traveller as well as to talk by a glass of beer in evening

It was very nice to host Patrick, he is an easygoing guy and like to speak a lot, to tell interesting stories.

Patrick is a really friendly and hospitable guy who opens both arms open wide for adventure bums like me.. I enjoyed my last days in Ethiopia with Patrick going to the movies and having some talks over a good Ethiopian beer. Definately to be recommended as a host or guest! I recovered at Patrick's place in Addis from an exhausting trip to the Ethiopian South. He was very easygoing and considerate, and showed me a few interesting angles on Addis.

Don't know where to start. Already a while we know each other and even if we met a few times, not enough imho. We share some common views on the professional and hospitality sides, not talking about humor and other friends. Dedicated guy to the idea of hospitality.

He was one of the few persons who responded to meet when I visited Ethiopia and we met up for a drink actually I chose tea becuase it was bloody cold in Addis. Anyhoo he is an interesting fellow and pretty easy to talk to and by the by he was nice enough to give me the breakdown of how to get to "The places to see in Addis". On the whole Patrick is cool yout!!

Funny canadian speaking dutch. Our paths crossed a few times in Belgium.

 

Not only at the meet up but I got a chance to walk around Addis with Patrick and his friend Colin. I hope they enjoyed there stay here and may be meet back in Canada. - update Patrick kept the sprit of CS in Ethiopia hosting and organizing events after I left and a year later we meetup in Mtl for lovely afternoon in park, china town and CS picnic. It was great seeing you.

 

Patrick and I first met in London (January 2008) and when I came back in May we spent nearly the entire time wandering about London. He made sure I made my train to the airport and we did a whirlwind tour of the British Museum right before they closed!

After my school programme in Hungary finished we traveled all around the Balkans and had a wonderful time. He showed me the ropes of hitch-hiking and we tried to not die from only eating bread, nutella and kikiriki. I'm looking forward to our next adventure (which ended up being africa) and sharing our life together! :) I am looking forward to returning to Quebec and spending a real canadian winter with him (at least to keep me warm!) :P

Patrick hosted me for three nights in London and we had a very good time together although (poor him!) he had to work during most of my stay. He always made sure that I had everything I needed and was very kind to me, so don't hesitate to contact him, wherever he might be in the future.

You will love everything about Patrick, from the way he dresses to the way he smiles, from the way he talks to the way he listens to you. As i already told you, i always enjoy meeting you.. and i will miss you when you go back home.. But let's forget about it now and think about the pancakes with maple syrup!!!

Thanks to Patrick I have seen many nice places in London which one does not find walking around with a touristguide. Patrick is open-minded. It is easy to have a good conversation with him.

 

A few weeks in London, a few hours in Montreal, all good souvenirs. He hosted me very last-minute (day of), helped me on multiple occasions with my copious amounts of stuff, and provided food, fun, and entertainment when I was just a lost soul in London. I met Patrick long time ago in a FreeHugs meeting in January 2008...
He was living in London (UK) at that time and we got to know eachother quite well.
He left London (like sadly sooner or later everyone does) but we managed to meet up in Canada during my 1st trip outside Europe and it was AMAZING!!! We also went with Franziska and Megan to the Montmorency Falls... GREAT scenario and we had LOVELY time! Thanks for all, what's next?

This guy has huge time for people

We have met so many times in real life and I 'witnessed' Patrick in quite different life situations from student to long-term travelling to settled person with a permanent job. He is always friendly and fun to be around with and definitely trustworthy!

Patrick is a very friendly, smart and interesting person who has a talent for abstract tongue-in-cheek photography. We spent a fun day tooling around southwest England and meeting up with couchsurfers for a pub night. See you at New Year's Eve in London.

 

I had seen Patrick quite a few times in Brussels - so much even that I thought he lived there. So when I went to London for Christmas shopping, I didn't hesitate to contact him again for a daytrip to "England's national scandal" at Stonehenge. We had a great day out, and I'm looking forward to party with him on the CS NYE party in London!

The Patrick's travel experiences let me... dreamer ! Moreover, he speaks clearly english ! It was easy for a frenchie to understand him, so I liked to hear him during a few hours :-) I spent a pleasant evening.

It's a pity I'm getting more active from this moment as Patrick is about to leave Brussels. I enjoy our chats every single time, from totally absurd stories to the difficulties of non-EU citizens to get the right paper and stamp from the right office... Hope we can still meet a lot in the future!!

Patrick is a great person even though our meeting was short, it was finally nice to meet a fellow volunteer. As cliché as it may sound he embraces the Hospitality Culture.

Patrick is a very easy going guy who is good fun and very knowledgable of Europe and other places he has traveled. I found him very interesting and he took some lovely photos. I showed him around Cornwall and took him bike riding and would enjoy enjoy meeting up in the future. Good chap!

patrick was a pleasure to meet, he strayed on my fluffy bed for three nites. he was a postive and outgoing person. i would always offer him a place to stay again if he was in cornwall again.

 

I hosted Patrick during his visit to Cornwall. We had some nice days out and it was a pleasure to have him couchsurfing. He is extremely trustworthy, very intelligent, polite, and interesting guy and I enjoyed meeting him. Hope to see you again sometime - save travels :-)

Great Guy and well travelled...

As my stay was very short and I was quite tired that day, I have to admit, I wasn't very talkative, but I was listening to the conversation Patrick had with my boyfriend and it really seemed that the idea of hosting people is a very important for him. The impression he made was very positive.

I experienced Patrick to be a dedicated and helpful Couchsurfer.

We met in Klöden Late Summer Camp 2006. He is very helpful and volunteers in diffrent hospex networks. I hope to see you somewhere around ...

Patrick just got in from work but was enthusiastic about meeting up. We had a nice chat about all things couchsurfing, a walk in the park, fish n chips and beer. Nice way to spend an afternoon.

JANUARY 2007 - Unfortunately we didn't spend much time together (because of our exams). So we were only able to recommend some places to visit and to share our apartment with him. We hope to meet him again so we can share more words in a less hurry.

it is always a pleasure drinking beer together, dreaming about future traveling plans and hitchhiking with Patrick. I hope i will soon have the opportunity to host you in Cologne or go on a short hh-trip with you to the countries nearby!

 

What can a person in real be different from online! This meeting in trabant camp really changed my thoughts about him in a positive way :) I am sure we can discuss and not agree on many things, but still I look forward to next real life chat with this guy :) It was a pity to see him leaving the trabant camp so early! That's why I jumped in the car to bring him to the airport .. extending the time seeing him a bit ;)

I hosted Patrick in Clermont Ferrand where he was spending a few days with another friend. Both of them have been perfect guests and funny guys also. Hope we'll meet again, somewhere ;-)

When you are involved in sects like HC and CS at some point you realize you know many nicknames, exchange views with them online and make friends but you never met them in real. This was the case with Patrick. I knew him before we finally met in Riga after several previous attempts. I wish we would have had more time in Riga back then to chat more but there are always new chances :) Patrick, if you get bored to surf around Europe, try this place! You are most welcome!

Patrick wass my first Canadian to meet out of Canada hehe I like his company and I hope we really are going to see and talk to each other anywhen in the near future again:-)

Patrick is a very sympathetic Quebecois. In Bamberg we went to a canoeing tour through the town. Recently at Flo´s camp in Traben-Trarbach we met only briefly because he had to go back to work. Well, I still hope Bavaria and Quebec get finally independent from their bloody occupants. Patrick, i hope you enjoy the work on the cruiseship. A bientot.

Patrick is another one of those great HC/BW/CS members that makes the idea of hospitality so great. Although I have only had the pleasure of meeting him twice, I know I will see him somewhere again because he believes in the idea of hospitality exchange as much as I do. If only every member was as dedicated as much as Patrick, the clubs would be so much better.

Although we had a short time to speak to Patrick,I enjoyed it. We drank together. He is very warm,kind,friendly and sociable. He is a good friend to talk to.

Kloeden HC Late Summer Camp
We met the first time at the Kloeden Camp. After it we got both a ride in uaflyer's car until Heilbronn. Patrick had to hitchhike from there in the same direction like me so we joined each other. As it was becoming later and we found a car driving to Luxembourg we decided that he is going to stay one night with me at my parent's place in Traben-Trarbach. During that time I got into Paqtrick much more than at the whole camp. Like so many other people he showed another side of himself in the real civilization. While at the camp he seemed for me sometimes as crazy as me later he was as "normal" as me. A good journey in the cars of the Ken and the lux. woman with very interesting conversation. Patrick is making his way, travelling but at the same time always having his future in his mind. I think it's a good mix. Positive in his thinking, open in his talking and through and through a friendly and nice guy. Sadly we were to tired when we arrived at my home so I couldn't show him around much. But finally he met a friend of mine (breeze333) who had just signed up HC so we had a little chat. Hope next time (when he is coming to collect grapes???)I can show him more of the town and if I'm not there, I bet breeze333 will do it. Hope to see him again, in Tr.-Tr., poole, Quebeck or whereever on this fucking planet. Cheers!!!
UPDATE
Patrick was my longterm guest/ flatmate for nearly 4,5 months in Poole (GB).
We lived together, travelled together, argued with each other, "loved each other", helped each other and shared everything.
Off course, afzter such long time you know enough negative aspects of a person, but if there would not have been more positive ones we would not have stayed together for such a long time.

After a few missed opportunities I had the pleasure to meet Patrick in person. He is a very receptive, friendly person and clearly passionate about providing hospitality and cultural exchange:) I'm looking forward to the next time - and I hope to show him some of the treasures that exist in the county he is currently living in!

We had our ups and downs when fighting over travel philosophy, but that just added spice to the road trip. I'm sure we'll meet and fight again and enjoy it the same as back then...

I met Patrick on one of the parties in Warsaw... We had amazing time together...He knows, what does real fun mean:)I love to have this type of people around me.. He is trustworthy and defnetely worh to know:) Kiss!!!

Stayed with Patrick all in all about 10hours, a third talking and the rest sleeping.

we met at the brussels meetings in March and May but only really started talking the day after the last party. we not only had good talks but also a lot of laughs. he is an open-minded and easy-going person and i'm glad that i've met him again.

Patrick is really OK. He is a good fellow and has a very wise vieuw of life.

Besides discussing boring stuff like statutes etc. we did not really find time to talk. I am happy having met him in real life now after a lot of email-communication as HC volunteers (geo team).

 

Patrick is such a nice person and the example of a real traveller. I learned a lof of things about travelling and his native country Canada. The other Canadian at all the European parties! We have had so many inspirational talks, one drunken hungover train ride, lots of fun meals, and beer, and much more... He is someone you just cant wait to bump into somewhere else time and time again... so start buping into him too!

I really had a lot of fun staying a few nights in Poole with Patrick and Florian. Patrick is so laid back and friendly. He has a relaxing presence that really puts a person at ease. :) I very much hope we can meet again somewhere out there, perhaps hitch around Germany together with Nadin!?:)

We had a contact on the net for a longer time and now we finally met. Patrick is a very friendly and helpfull guy. One simply feels comfortable around him.

I met him for the first time at the HC Franconia Camp in Bamberg in autumn of 2005 and was surprised how well he was able to describe me thereafter (in his HC comment for me) although we had only met for short. Well, he definitely made a sympathic impression and it was a nice surprise to meet him again at later events as the HC Wintercamp 2006/07 in Warsaw.

Patricks is a nice thoughtful guy, we had a good chat over a beer in the pub and I like his dry sense of humour.

We met on a meeting in Brussels, although we didn't talk for long, as he had to organise the meeting, we talked later on chat as well. will meet him again for sure:)

We were friends during high school. Patrick is a really nice and funny guy and he has a many interests in different subjects.

 

After a few email contacts, I had the pleasure to meet this ambassador of Quebec-Belgium life and especially, of travel freedom. What an inspiration for hitchhiking! Patrick has a wonderful belief in the preciousness of networks in our society; this is why I hope we're going to meet again!

i really envy him for his way of living... great guy, has been everywhere around europe, i think =) sometimes he write his name on cucumbers but trust me, he's fine. looking forward to meet him again somewhere!!

Hey, we met twice, once in the old town hostel and in my appartment of course. I still have his camera description booklet, so we will have to meet again and then I will hopefully be able again to host him in our new place and we will have time to talk more.

 

We met on the Plein 1818 and cycled / walke through the city centre of Den Haag and had a drink together. A few days later he stayed at my place while I was in Germany and another week later we met again on the HC-party in Nijmegen.
Too bad that I did not have enough time to spend with Patrick, because we do the same profession and he has great ideas and is fun to talk to. A relaxed, adventuous and idealistic guy like me.

Well, we were neighbours in Kloden, then he got sick at MY flat in Riga. I was never there, I hosted him at my work for the most part. But when we did get the chance to talk, I found out that Canada is a really strange country. So please host Patrick, I don't think he is allowed to go home.

We met the most recently at the Kloden camp in Germany.

 

I loved thid dude. He's so positive and relaxing to have around. Positive vibe all along. Take care mate!

 

Patrick is a highly funny and original guy. he lets you in on some very unusual cultural and political items related to Canada and elsewhere and is a lot of fun to spend time with. He can be a bit understanted at first, being a very serious hitchiker with all the corporate knowledge and street smarts. Once he gets to know you, he is an open book.

He stayed for a couple of days. We hung out and had a laugh.

Maplefanta is better than cola but not as good as beer. Thats why i prefer drinking beer with Fanta.

I contacted Patrick first when he was out of Belgium and it was great when we actually met in Brussels. Im glad I´ve had the opportunity to get to know him more and kept contact during his time back in Canada. His great desire to travel and experience as an alien in Belgium are two things that we have in common :) I really hope that we can spend some time travelling together in the future, and just hang out some more!
It has been great to hitch hike and hang out and really get to know each other more. Patrick is really a great guy, a great friend!

Canadian quality! We met up in different places and always had good fun. It was especially crazy to be shown around in Brussels, the heart of the Europian Union, by a Canadian who knows more about the EU then me as an EU citizen myself.
