ABOUT AVAILABILITY: I am working 9-5 weekdays (at least) doing reverse commuting from Québec City to Donnacona (about 45km west) and still sometimes spend time at my family in the countryside at Lac-Sergent (about 60km northwest). Besides that, I am home and available every evening and week ends. I should always be in the area and have full availability on evenings and week ends. However, Megan has more availability to meet you up and hang around in the flat or the city while I am at work.
- Hitch-hikers Welcome!!
Staying Over:
Polite and friendly people will definitely be welcome hands open! I sometimes like to take guests on a tour, but sometimes also like to use my day off just as a quiet day at home or to sleep late. So as much as I love to hang around with my guests and talk to them, I also sometimes need time to rest and be on my own (be it working on my computer, or just relaxing). I do hope all of my guests can remain independent enough as to what they wish to do during your stay. Let's discuss and it will be set.
Basically I can host anytime but might not be necessarily be available to hang with you or tour you around.
Where: (and distances)
I currently live in the Ste-Foy borough of Quebec city, just off the Transit Busline #7 heading straight downtown (400m) and the Duplessis highway A-540 (500m) leading to Quebec city Airport, to the A-40 toward Montreal or to the Quebec bridge toward Lévis and the A-20.

Last-minuters:
I am often online, usually when at work but not always depending of my caseload, so I should be catching your message at some point during the day. Note that I might be busy for the night as well but otherwise if you leave a message I might do my best to pick you up wherever I can understand from your indications. So in short, I am up for last-minuters under certain conditions (availability & safety ones: in relation to your profile and contacts)

Personal DescriptionCurrently living in Quebec city (Ste-Foy Borough) with my partner Megan. Lac-Sergent (my family home) isn't that far of a distance from Quebec, so it could always be that I spend a week end there.
I am graduated Town Planner, did manage to work and develop projects while working as a Public Servant in Canada and still wishing to push my career forward with international experience.
I'm born in Quebec city (Canada) and grew up in the rural mountainous area surrounding the city. Note that my country is huge. I am proud of my specific Region and its specificity which shaped my views. I don't care about any others neither the future of my province, country or else... so don't classify me into any national political views. I care about my localities and region at first.
I have previously lived several years in Europe (on and off between 1999-2008), as such I am a Canadian with a definite interest and tendency of being outside his own country.
My first ever trip to Europe also involved spending time in France and Normandy (1999) working in Youth Hostels and Supermarket
Right after, I lived extensively in Belgium (2001-02/2004-06), even though I loved the country and would nearly wish to settle, it felt heavy to stay there without a purpose at the end.
I moved up to Putney (London) for several months working as a receptionist (2007-2008) after having lived in /en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Poole">Poole (Dorset) for a year (2007) were I was working as an Ordinary Seaman on Condor Ferries ship for a year. I enjoyed pretty much my British life in 2006-2008.
I lived 2008 working in partnership as Town Planning International Development with the Addis Ababa City-Government, as Urban Development Specialist. Which was at last a great but difficult moment returning into my profession as a planner in a developing country.
Personal Statement:
I value a good meal for its taste and the potential social side of the event; I am (and I love to cook) VEGETARIAN, so I'll usually see it as a pleasure to have guest for a meal... as long as you can enjoy vegetarian cooking as I am and are not fussy as I cook like a Canadian. For anything else though, I do watch my expenses really carefully (yeah I can be somewhat greedy ... or planned :P).

I'm someone slightly reserved, but still sometimes I like to share great moment, experiences and discussions with people though you might find me not so talkative the first time as my social skills are not really pushing me into making any first steps. Then I probably become absurd, black humour and witty. I am more observing and listening my surrounding but do not immediately share my thoughts as I otherwise feel it will just be a bore or that it would be perceived as dropping my defence (that is my Nordic side). Though, if I embrace friendship I will remain loyal to it. Otherwise open mind and lay-back as long that I feel it reciprocally (and that is not bullcrap).
I love to show people around and explain the intricacies of the local history and land settlement of Quebec city and its surrounding. I know many little stories, although I need to know your interest to embark in such trail of long speech.
How I Participate in CS see more crazy cat pics
I participate at the member level, trying to promote networking, 'gratis (free)' encounter/meeting and social activities by organising event. I also support travel and discovery as a regional development tool and providing the right information for low-cost travel through social and/or ecological means.
However, I do not fully support the site orientation when it comes to the monetary and general 'laissez-faire' site management. Especially in regard with the stubbornness of creating little administrator king that does nothing but letting it 'as such'.
I do some geographic improvement volunteering, but the options are too limited to actually have any consistence.
Get out of my routine, have a walk, talk. Contact me if you wish to visit museum or just walk in some part of the city which, just contact me!
I might have (especially those days) the time to meet up or have someone over for a meal or drink.
Don't fear to kick me from my lethargic mood, I can be a lazy ass at first but what I need is the motivation and spark to do a first move. So if you feel like you can spare some energetic vibe, I might be fully grateful!
Although as I work long hours, I sometimes need time for myself. So please excuse me if I just feel sleepy or I am busy working on my computer. I do expect guests to feel like at home and be at ease around the flat. If you need a nibble, just open the fridge or cook yourself something!CouchSurfing Experience** Also check: www.bewelcome.org **
My experience started with Hospitality Club, in which I used to volunteer/admin and host as well. I have been hosted over all Europe while travelling and met great people whom became really close friends. My first use of CS was with
Christof in Spain, whom I definitely wish to meet again.
I have hosted in Canada - Belgium and England mainly through HospitalityClub, guests from Taiwan, Korea, USofA, Canada, Belgium, Poland, Spain and Germany, but I have been guests a multitude of time. Lately, I host jointly with my Megan.

PS: Lately, I feel less and less the need to be proactive on comments and friend link (I still do) but if you don't do it yourself, it may be that you won't ever get one. As technically, I could already sit on the amount I have as a decent pedigree.InterestsI'm wacky about History, particularly when it is related to the WW conflicts, but also fond of Architecture, Arts (certain), Nature, Environment and Town Planning ..
I enjoy music, photography and extreme sports (Snowboard - Wakeboard...) as well as nautical sports (canoeing, kayaking, swimming). I enjoy taking a stroll around or hiking, or simply touring a region for its sight. I love social evening and board game evening.
I also have this professional defect that makes me crazily look at anything related with Planning, New Urbanism, Environment, Transport or Architecture in a new country and can talk about it for hours, so it might be boring for some, interesting for others, just let me know!!... or as how the communities deal in such environment, I enjoy to see all these bits in every country which altogether would shape what idiots call utopia! My views are pretty sharp on some subject, I like to discuss but will flame down as lightning if I feel refusal to accept a difference.PhilosophyWhere is my mind!?

People that can bring something up with great enthusiasm, that are wise on their expenses without being the tight gold digger or freeloader. People that can understand sarcasm, irony, black humour and take absurdity with a smile. I dislike people who are just show off ... as I am not interested in praising your talent in something when it is just meant to diminish others.
Therefore, I despise people who will be stubbornly ignorant about my culture and will try to get into my country's local politic. I will gladly explain, but as a 13th+ generation Canadian, I will flame you down if you make the wrong move of telling to return to France.
I enjoy people who can share their thought, be emotional enough but still keep in mind that the world is not theirs.

(Yes that may be seen as showing off)Opinion on the CouchSurfing.org ProjectI love the philosophy behind the website. It is a great thing as matter to bring the world together, bring a bit of travels and social exchange everywhere you or with everyone you receive. It enables the chance to encounter new friends and acquaintance, discover parts of the world you would otherwise never have thought about without a local support. And even just meet and discover you local communities. It is a democratic jump just like it was in its original creation (SERVAS).
However... have you read your term of agreements while signing in??

From Mark Weber Wallkill, United States Nov 18, 2009 Positive Patrick and I had some great conversations at a recent local CS get- together. He is definitely a seasoned traveler who has had some very cool experiences and not afraid of adventure. Mild mannered and very easy to talk to.
From John Gunther Rosendale, United States Nov 18, 2009 Positive We invited Patrick when he posted his interest in a NYS weekend trip. He drove all the way from his home in Québec and then dropped another CSer in Montréal on his way back. He was a great guest, easy-to-accommodate vegetarian in our meaty house, interesting conversationalist (he wants to tie CS-style travel in to local development), and willing hiker -- although the steep trail and 7.5 mile distance pushed his limits a little. We're looking forward to visiting him at some point.
From Jolien Heerkens Zoetermeer, Netherlands Nov 16, 2009 Positive It's allready yearrrs since we first and last met, but happily enough there is this thing called internet. And so your a friend on facebook, and now cs :)

Hopefully we will meet again!

I look forward to spending time with him again in the future... maybe even in PQ for the Winter Carnival :)
BTW If I run low on cutlery I know who to contact LOL hope you get over the boader with no troubles...still think leaving the books/boxes on the train tracks could have been fun at impact LOL just kidd'in :)
I made great use of the "toonie" how was I supose to know that the train would take it instead of flatening it LOL. :)
From Michael Grandy Fonda, United States Nov 15, 2009 Positive I had the pleasure of Hosting Patrick on Nov. 13, 2009 while he was passing thru Upstate NY on his way to the Catskills. We then met after my work and met up with Teddy another cs member to go to the NYS Museum in Albany and then met another cs member Vincent From NYC and his friend Devin from the Albany area for coffee at the Muddy Cup.. It was a real pleasure to Meet Patrick and learn of his job, travels and hearing about his trip over the border to pick up items for his GF to take back to his GF... (comment from HC):
Definitely crazy time ;) First I invited him for 2 English lessons with kids at school where I teach. Then we spent some time with my lovely friend Anita (HC nickname: anwa82)....and I wanted Patrick and Ania (HC: phoebe78) for a dinner I prepared ealier :D So we went my home but I left my keys at school which was already closed :D So at the end I landed at Ania's home with Patrick over night and did a dinner there. The next day I invited him for the big fire-show done for social orphan kids.... just after show we and my friends home.Life is an experience... Now Patrick knows that magic mushrooms grow also on the meadows in the grass :D
Patrick is curious, friendly, sometimes silent and sometimes very talkative... in general communicative person ;)Cheers mate and c u anywhere. Lucas
From Ela Górska Warsaw, Poland Oct 18, 2009 Positive Ha! I remember that Kloden Camp was my first HC big gathering in which I participated shortly after joining HC and hitch-hiking with Patrick was the first long distance hitchhiking i've done so there where a lot of special moments in that time. So now after long long time (4 years?) its great to remember all those things thanks to Patrick's reference:)
I remember Patrick as a clever, talkative and open-minded individualist very involved in the cause (a cause in that moment was hc, now cs perhaps?:)) He always put some fresh ideas to the conversations and was a good hichhiking companion...:)
From Arjen Ypma Venlo, Netherlands Oct 15, 2009 Positive It's a long time ago, but I still remember talking till late after midnight about the to me unknown history of Canada. Patrick is good person
From Dihia Wegmann Modling, Austria Oct 15, 2009 Positive Patrick was a great guest! I remember that he arrived quite tired at my place (he has already been travelling for a while) and he needed a nap. In the evening we had a nice dinner with him and my flatmate. We had fun during our Monopoly session and during our little seightseeing tour by bike through my hometown Münster(Germany). I enjoyed his compagnie and he is welcome every time at my place (eventhough i live in France now and can't really host).
From Fabrizio Corsaro Slough, United Kingdom Oct 14, 2009 Positive Met Patrick during CS gathering.
He's extensive travelling experience is impressive as well as the knowledge of the United Kingdom.
Highly trustful person.
From MRDARCY New York, United States Sep 24, 2009 Positive This was my first CS experience and Patrick made the experience very smooth. I almost feel like this was the perfect CS experience, Patrick is a very knowledgeable local, super nice and very welcoming. I think him being on the outskirts of Quebec City is an advantage as the scenery is beautiful and I got to see different facets of Quebec life. Thanks so much Patrick!
From Calum Wilkinson Aberdeen, United Kingdom Sep 16, 2009 Positive Patrick was good fun to sit beside on the bus - he'd be a fine guest and host I'm sure - open, sharp and with a whole assortment of obscure but most useful information about the odd places eg how to get by crossing the international waters of Scandinavia...just ask!!
From Jonathan Dubé Saint-Maurice, Canada Sep 15, 2009 Positive thanks to him for the organisation of this gathering. this is always a pleasure to meet and host people like him.
From Ping Teo Geelong, Australia Sep 14, 2009 Positive Patrick was a very knowledgeable and patient person, explaining the histories behind multiple small towns along the "king's road", on our way back from the Trois Riviere CS Meeting. And Patrick, I do thank you for setting aside that time for me - translating a lot of French conversations, and doing so much as an event organiser to welcome me in an "overwhelming crowd".
From Xavier Vachon Montreal, Canada Sep 14, 2009 Positive Patrick and his girlfriend were good company during the Trois-Rivieres CS gathering. During our ride across the historic villages of the Mauricie area, he provided us with a fair amount of information about the highlights we visited. He is polite, funny and very knowledgeable. Very good company. I really appreciate the time he spent organizing the meeting, it was a whole lot of fun.
From Staecy Lee McKenzie Saint-Maurice, Canada Sep 14, 2009 Positive Very helpful, very open-minded and, let's admit it, a little insane, Patrick's uniqueness is exactly what makes him such an interesting person. He always ends up making you see things a bit differently than you would have thought at first. A great guest without a doubt. I should be dropping in on some CS activities in Québec this fall, until then... :)

From Joannie Savard Quebec, Canada Aug 12, 2009 Positive If you want to live a completely crazy time, you have to hang out with Pat. He's very funny, a bit insane (just enough), somewhat unforseeable, but you'll find him very reliable.
When he looks at you directly in the eyes, beware, he's thinking of some mischief to do! :p
From Maxime Mercier Levis, Canada Aug 4, 2009 Positive Great guy, took good care of my guest at the party. Specially in a black Yaris :P
From J0SY Quebec, Canada Jul 5, 2009 Positive I met Pat in several meetings and I had a lot of nice chats, I never get bored to speak with him and always had very good times…I also I found a very nice vegetarian friend (now I feel less alone in BBQ party), the ideal partner to share a sleeping spot (he dosen’t move and he dosen’t snore when he sleeps). And the best of all, even if he is totally cold by the frozen water where crazy CS go swimming (including me) he can give hugs that will warm you up! I am glad to have you in Quebec :)

From THE SWAN Quebec, Canada Jun 19, 2009 Positive As I can remember from the HC, he was patient for waiting for me so we could gather and discuss about societal and urban choices. He has his points that were relevant and looks very much like acerb criticisms. He is very opiniated. I could also add he was very helpful in guiding me through the city (not that obvious!). Although my stay was short, I surely would recommand him to anyone willing to discuss about "strenghten" topics.

This meeting in trabant camp really changed my thoughts about him in a positive way :) I am sure we can discuss and not agree on many things, but still I look forward to next real life chat with this guy :) It was a pity to see him leaving the trabant camp so early! From Tomi Tenetz Jokela, Finland Jul 29, 2007 Positive When you are involved in sects like HC and CS at some point you realize you know many nicknames, exchange views with them online and make friends but you never met them in real. This was the case with Patrick. I knew him before we finally met in Riga after several previous attempts. I wish we would have had more time in Riga back then to chat more but there are always new chances :) Patrick, if you get bored to surf around Europe, try this place! You are most welcome!

From Zane Banane The Hague, Netherlands Jul 27, 2007 Positive Patrick, you forgot to mention apple in the grilling//killing process :) Well, my ghost will continue appearing in camps, making people laugh and alcohol dissappear, so beware!! And yes, there is an ax murderer between us - ask Patrick for evidence.I think you have plenty of it :) Omg, they killed Keny!!Blame Canada!!!But I still like you a lot - witness, camera man, evil jaw monster, pillow fight champion - whatever you are!!! :) ZZ-The mighty ghost :D
From Franz Reithmayr Haag in Oberbayern, Germany Jul 27, 2007 Positive Patrick is a very sympathetic Quebecois. In Bamberg we went to a canoeing tour through the town. Recently at Flo´s camp in Traben-Trarbach we met only briefly because he had to go back to work. Well, I still hope Bavaria and Quebec get finally independent from their bloody occupants. Patrick, i hope you enjoy the work on the cruiseship. A bientot.
From Kurt Boss New Orleans, United States Jul 27, 2007 Positive Patrick is another one of those great HC/BW/CS members that makes the idea of hospitality so great. Although I have only had the pleasure of meeting him twice, I know I will see him somewhere again because he believes in the idea of hospitality exchange as much as I do. If only every member was as dedicated as much as Patrick, the clubs would be so much better.
From Christoph Killguss Ofterdingen, Germany Jul 24, 2007 Positive my first visitor. it was interesting to meet patrick,he has been thinking about how things could possibly work different in this world.do not give up ;)

I hope to meet again in Turkey this time and spend time longer.
From Florian Fischer Berlin, Germany Jul 7, 2007 Positive Kloeden HC Late Summer Camp
We met the first time at the Kloeden Camp. After it we got both a ride in uaflyer's car until Heilbronn. Patrick had to hitchhike from there in the same direction like me so we joined each other. As it was becoming later and we found a car driving to Luxembourg we decided that he is going to stay one night with me at my parent's place in Traben-Trarbach. During that time I got into Paqtrick much more than at the whole camp. Like so many other people he showed another side of himself in the real civilization. While at the camp he seemed for me sometimes as crazy as me later he was as "normal" as me. A good journey in the cars of the Ken and the lux. woman with very interesting conversation. Patrick is making his way, travelling but at the same time always having his future in his mind. I think it's a good mix. Positive in his thinking, open in his talking and through and through a friendly and nice guy. Sadly we were to tired when we arrived at my home so I couldn't show him around much. But finally he met a friend of mine (breeze333) who had just signed up HC so we had a little chat. Hope next time (when he is coming to collect grapes???)I can show him more of the town and if I'm not there, I bet breeze333 will do it. Hope to see him again, in Tr.-Tr., poole, Quebeck or whereever on this fucking planet. Cheers!!!
UPDATE
Patrick was my longterm guest/ flatmate for nearly 4,5 months in Poole (GB).
We lived together, travelled together, argued with each other, "loved each other", helped each other and shared everything.
Off course, afzter such long time you know enough negative aspects of a person, but if there would not have been more positive ones we would not have stayed together for such a long time.
Dedicated volunteer zto HC and BW.
Very close friend.
Patrick - I MISS YOU
