About Me

CURRENT MISSION

Full and Intentional Living with Healthy doses of Adventure

ABOUT ME

We were married in September of 2007. We've worked at camps together, traveled together and we even LIVE together. We lived and worked in South Korea from August 2010 - August 2012 as teachers of English. In August of 2012 we returned to Laramie, WY where worked for the schools as paraprofesionals.

As of early 2013 we began an endeavor to start a new business in a small Wyoming town. We have purchased an old, 1917 Bank that has primarily operated as a bar and since June of 2013 have managed a pizzeria/bar in the town of Burlington, WY - so if you're heading toward North Central WY or Yellowstone, hit us up!

PHILOSOPHY

Extend grace, love, and compassion.
Simplify.
Feed People.
Live with intentionality.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

We've hosted many and are slowly adding to our own CouchSurfing travel experiences. We Love opening up our home, preparing meals for friends, sharing a cocktail or micro-brew and welcoming new and old friends into our lives. We'd love to host you wherever we are ^^

We served as moderators for our 'city' group in the US and hosted a good number of potlucks before making our way to Korea.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

We've been hosting since June 2007 and will continue to do so. For the Summer of 2009 we embarked on a 10,000 plus mile road trip of the Western U.S. and had the opportunity to meet some outstanding CSers. Every experience has been unique and enjoyable.

After the summer of 2010 when we embarked on a small/short world tour (Guatemala, South Africa, Thailand, Malaysia) we added many more experiences as "Surfer" to our CouchSuring experience. We continue to be amazed by the generosity and kindness of people throughout the world.

In Daejeon, we had the pleasure of hosting a number of surfers from all over the world and meeting up with a handful of surfers in our own city as well as convincing a number of friends to contribute their greatness to the CS community.

Music, Movies, and Books

Acoustic sounds and bluegrass rank at the top of music interests. We are especially fond of: Ben Kweller, Brett Dennan, Jalan Crossland, Peter Mulvey and the Dan Walker Band. But we're pretty open to most sounds.

We really enjoyed watching Planet Earth. Slumdog Millionaire was wonderful, but the book was better. Mike likes most movies, Melissa usually falls asleep. We've enjoyed our share of documentaries as well, favorites include: Sicko, The Gleaners and I, and Bowling for Columbine.

Mike enjoys non-fiction: Blink, Tipping Point, Outliers, Predictably Irrational, How Soccer Explains the World and Freakanomics. (Currently working through The Game of Thrones Series)

Melissa enjoys novels: The Time-Traveller's Wife, The Chronicles of Narnia, My Sister's Keeper, Peace Like a River and The #1 Ladies Detective Agency series. (Or a good cook-book). (Currently working through a memoir - 'There is no mee without you')

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

These stories are best enjoyed with a cold-one in hand and something home-made to chow on...in our humble opinon.

Teach, Learn, Share

We know a lot about beer. pizza. owning a business. rural America.

We're learning a lot about relationships - like this one called marriage. We'd like to learn more about photography, baking in a crock-pot, must see places around the world and anything that a couchsurfer could teach. We recently learned, while in the presence of couchsurfers: the location of Salvation Mountain, how to make Chai Tea, the existance of an Elementary School Bar, the importance of Free Trade, how to travel the world without ever setting foot in an airport and how to embrace your passions regardless of age or means.

Countries I’ve Visited
