Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

Surfer hosting and story sharing. I used to have a joint profile with my roommate, Neeshia, but we've since divided and conquered. Be sure and seek out her new account. (http://www.couchsurfing.org/profile.html?id=JU26OTK)

I'm hoping to take things to the next level this summer as I travel around Europe for three months.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I first learned about Couchsurfing years ago when two delightful travelers passed through Bowling Green, KY and stayed with a friend. I tagged along for a few days of magical fun.

I became a host during grad school with my roommate at the time. She had a fabulous sectional couch that surely was the envy of all. Met countless wonderful people and occasionally stay in touch with a few.

I first surfed in Colorado Springs when attending a conference. I'm not ashamed to admit that I ended up spending way more time with my amazing hosts than actually at the conference!

Music, Movies, and Books

Books: Currently reading Zen and the Art of Motorcycle Maintenance, The Modern Mind, and Vegetarian Myths. I'm clearly much better at starting books than finishing them.

Movies: Anything I can see on my friend's mom's Netflix instantview, or in indie theaters.

Shows: HIMYM, Big Bang Theory, New Girl, Community, Parks and Rec, Dexter, The Walking Dead, Psych, Happy Endings. I don't like Seinfeld.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I once won an ice cream cone while playing the "What mammal will we see first in Kruger National Park" game. I supposed we would see the majestic Rhinoceros first (either black or white), a bold move on my part as often this member of the Big 5 is not often seen at all. My fellow competitors mocked my choice (theirs ranged among the more common impala to the taller giraffes), but I gathered all the positive energy I could muster and focused on my goal. We saw not one but a group of White Rhinos just inside the park.

But really, that ice cream was one of the most amazing things in my lifetime. Yum!

Teach, Learn, Share

There's no better way to learn than by teaching.

I can share with you lots of wildly amusing science facts.

I will teach you how to knit. I'd consider myself slightly better than the average knitter, but I still frequently consult the Great Googily Moogily.

I would love to cook food with you. I have a giant list of recipes to try out.

I'm ready to learn whatever you have to offer.
