Marco Bertini

 

Marco and Guilia are fantastic hosts and some of our favourite people in Europe - warm, funny, intelligent, generous, and great talkers. Despite some big things going on in their lives, they managed to find so much time to spend with us - and we enjoyed every moment. They showed us their favourite spots around town, including the oldest churches we've ever seen, the best gelatis and hot chocolates we've ever tasted, and the painted views from San Luca (complete with celibate priests' giving advice for couples' sex lives...). And what an amazing introduction to the culinary delights of Italia we got through their lovely families (thank them again for us!!)! We're very glad to have met you guys, and hope we can return the favour in Oz some day.

It was really nice meeting Marco at the couchsurf meeting of November in Bologna. He is a really nice, easygoing, social and funny guy and really nice to talk to. See you again at the next meeting! :)

I loved sharing the fun with Marco and Julia in Bertinoro at the Hospitality festival! They were so welcoming and so much fun to share some laughs and map drawing :oP Goodluck to both of you with the coming year and I hope to see you both in Australia one day... :o) oxox

Marco was the first host for me and my friend Kamila. Marco is a great guy, always nice and helpful. He is very energetic and enthusiastic about everything. He has lots of friends and lives his life in 200%!! :) We had a wonderful time with him, and it convinced us that couchsurfng is a great idea!

 

It was nice met Marco, after I heard so much about him from my best friend in Bologna. We have really many friends in common and even if for 2 evenings it was interesting speak and spent with Marco... for sure he is friendly and easy going. I’m pretty sure our paths will cross again (remember our "plan"!!)

 

Marco is such a nice, pleasant and interesting man to talk to! He truly hold the Couchsurfing philosophy and cares very much for this organization and its members. He is someone that I'd like to meet again. I'll make sure to stop by his hometown during my next visit to Italy.

 

Marco was an excelent host! Really nice, always helpful and I must say, extreeeemly patient with all my consistent traincomplications and stressfullness, making me maps and everything! A true CSer, not only introducing me to tons of people in Bologna, but also driving everyone of us to a CS-party in Veneto, which definitely topped of my short (but intense!) stay in Bologna. Also, props (and good luck!) to people who know what they want and do it!

Marco is a very good ambassador for the CS community in Bologna! A very nice and good laughing guy. He was my first host ever and I felt comfortable immediately. We went to several meetings both planned and unplanned. Altogether he helped a lot making my stay in beloved Bologna unforgettable.

Surfing at Marco's couch was my first CS experience, but I can't imagine it could have been any better! I stayed at his place in Bologna for 3 days and he was a great host. I am looking forward to my next CS experiences, I am definatelly going to spread CS spirit around! Marco is really nice and kind guy, really enthusiastic towards CS project and always ready to help. its incredible! a really good person. Thanks Marco!

Marco is a true ambassador, very involved in and enthusiastic about CS, so much so some of his enthusiasm has rubbed off and he has already pushed me to become more involved. he is very caring and generous and fun to be around. i had a great time with him and other couchsurfers in Bologna and look forward to the next adventure!

Marco was my longest and also best hosting experience so far and it was really a great pleasure to meet him.
He is an extreemly kind and thoughtful guest and has the typical Italien charme. We had lots of fun and he told me interesting and funny stories about CS and his crazy moments in life. Sometimes he was so generous and caring, that I felt like I would be his guest! (And one dark night he even had to explain ME the way in my own city! ,-)) All in all a model couchsurfer, which I will always love to welcome again!

Marco hosted me in the most marvelous city I visited in Italy! With the help of our friend Giulia, he offered me a lovely room in his flat and we talked stories all night long. Marco is full of wonder and kindness. He showed me his special secret window of the river and helped me find the market. He is inquisitive , genuine and sincere. We met up again three days later in Milano and I will see him again in Vienna! Marco’s heart is made of pure gold and as a traveler you will never regret meeting him.

Marco hosted me for one night and it was a really good experience. He knows EVERYTHING about Bologna and even being busy with other activities showed us the major attractions and the unknown places of the city. Marco hosted the eight of us in his place, which was amazingly hospital from him! In the evening he took us to a restaurant with other bolognan couch surfers and to a splendid city tour. Those of my friends who stayed out later experienced a somewhat thrilling italian ride home in the night. In the morning Marco even cooked for us, because it was a special holiday and we just realized in the morning that the shops were closed. Marco is a very sympathetic and nice person.

Avoiding conventional compliments and words,was a pleasure to meet Marco again and have the chance to know him better. He's a relaxed guy and made me feel relaxed and good as well. It's exactly the kind of athmosphere I was looking for my busy and wrestling-life! :)

 

Lucky me that I got the chance to experience one of the famous 'Appennini meeting' weekends at Marco's holiday house in the Appennini mountains near Bologna. While being there I immediately saw and noticed what an immensely hospitable person Marco is. Opening up his house for so many people is in my opinion a great thing to do. Marco has the true spirit of a CS ambassador and does alot for his local and regional community. It has been a real pleasure meeting him and talking to him and I do hope we meet again. After meeting Marco at CS meetings and on a CS weekend trip to the Appenninnes I have a really great impression of Marco. Marco was very kind to host me at the last minute in his flat in Bologna. He is an excellent host and a great guy! He provided me with a detailed plan of things to see in Bologna and made sure that I got the most out of my time there.

Marco was an awesome host! We became fast friends because firstly, it turns out we had a lot in common and secondly, he was just too nice to let me rant and talk as much as I wanted. He even took me to a small, older town after I said I didn't like touristy areas! His mom's cooking is amazing (I still have dreams about that strawberry cake)! Gosh, so many things that I could list. It was a lovely couple of days spent with Marco and his family and I thoroughly wish I could come back!

It was my first travel to Europe and never knew i would get a great amazing experience there... and that's because of Marco. He accepted my surfing req and invited me to join the meeting. He was a great host though we didn't have much time to talk, but he did care his guests and friends. Thank you.

Marco is very excited about let CS grow up. He is a polite guest. I hosted him during the period of CS Million Member celebrations, and I have seen how much he liked to join and share community events frame of mind.
But, over all, take a moment to speak with him privately and seriously, he is very clear-sighted.

Some people arrive brightening our days with their kindness, Marco is for sure one of them. You can see a light in his eyes when you speak about travelling and his enthousiasm for couchsurfing world is so genuine! I was a bit tired after MMM parties but it was a pleasure to sped the afternoon together under the rain and visiting the Castello Sforzesco with Marco. One of the best encounters of this meeting!

Before even meeting in person, this guy actually saved me - without him I would have probably spent my first night in Bologna sleeping in the street!! He found me a place to stay and also gave me many useful tips about the city (and where to find the best ice-creams! Yummy!!) Unfortunately we could meet only for a short time, but it was enough to understand one thing: the world would be a perfect place if everybody were so kind and helpful as he is!

We've met in a Cs meeting few time after he had became in a CS member and I could see how this guy became in one of the most active members of the region! We've shared many CS events in the Emilia-Romagna region, Italy! He's an intelligent, easygoing, kind and enthusiastic guy always ready to organize CS activities and give a hand to those who need it!

I have no idea how it works with Italians, but with most of them I really like to pass a time, talk, smile, divide ideas and have a really really good and relaxing time. For sure Marco is one of that Italians, he is charming, intelligent and he makes me smiling. Definitely recommended

I hosted Marco one night and we went in "osteria" and we had the occasion to partecipate to a real "degustazione", taste, of Nobile Montepulciano wine. I'm proud he came and met me, and hope he wants come again with Elena and her friends.

 

Marco and his girlfriend Elena surfed on my boyfriend's couch for a few days in Rome. He was delightful, interesting, brought great tortellini, and taught me a lot about his couchsurfing experience so far of which he seems to be very involved and knowledgeable. I was also also happy to share some running stories with him.

To organize a meeting the appenini in the middle of the winter was a great idea.

I have been guest of Marco two days during a fantastic meeting on Appennini mountains. He is a perfect organizer, with a great patient and helpfulness, and one of the best couchsurfers i have ever met!

Marco and her girlfriend Elena, came to my house in Rome where I hosted them for three nights, they are outstanding, real couch surfers, there knowledge of couch surfing it's impressive, they almost know everybody in the couch surfing project, they participate to meetings and any other activities that involve couch surfing, they are incredibly respectful, educated, smart, funny, sweet.
They brought me so much food that the last night they were here we all had a big dinner together with my girlfriend Nadia and it was really a great experience, through them I had the opportunity to get a much better understanding of the couch surfing spirit, even the fact that they prefer to be hosted by new members to give them the opportunity to experience couch surfing is remarkable. The overall experience was more then positive and I do highly recommend them as I really trust them and moreover they are really funny, always happy and smiling and interested in other people and their lives.

Where he was leading a photograpyc workshop witch was very interesting. He is welinformed and nows his material.
We had some talks about our mutual interests photogapy and traveling, it was nice to talk to!.If he passes in Belgiun he is welcome.

I first met Marco at the Berlin Winter Camp 2008 when he was keeping a photography workshop!I was like an outsider in the group but still Marco was very kind to explain me everything twice (sorry but my photo skills are pretty bad :)!)During the following day luckily I had the chance to get to know him better and I can say Marco is such a good guy!Warm,kind,always well mannered,he smiles a lot,looks always so calm and he is very friendly!It is so easy to feel comfortable with him...100% trustworthy!It's good we both live in Italy so we definitely have some other chances to meet!

I met first Marco in Berlin at BWCamp when hewas” lost” and we „adopted” him. We celebrated the New Years Eve together and he I noticed he is very ”Romanian” and after one month I hosted him for 2 nights; it is a pleasure to be around him and to learn him Romanian words..he is a conscientious student:d.

Marco and I both stayed at Karls place during Berlin Wintercamp. Marco is really the perfect (co-)surfer. This stylish guy with Italian flair is one of the nicest and most helpful people you can ever imagine. See you at the next party, Marco!!

We met in Berlin, shared a host and talked about interesting items...

 

With a day before Winter Camp started we met Marco in front of the Home Base. He told us he is alone and I know how is to be alone in other country and I invited him to join us and the story started. A bond has been created between us and Marco who became very well integrated in our group. He is enthusiastic, polite, optimistic and protective. When Marco is around me I feel everything can be possible and the time stops. Everyone likes his energy, his jokes and the honesty which helps him to be a good friend and helpful. Marco is the perfect person at the perfect moment.

Update: he is a great host. Thanks to him I saw his beautiful country, tasted good dishes and wines. One of the best CS experiences.

What a nice evening in Bologna for the CS-Meeting I spent with this great Ambassador.He is so active. We need this kind of CS-Persons. Marco hosted me in a wonderfull way not to travel in the night. Marco is soooooo kind. He is one of those understanding people you just look at, and without words necessary to say, you simply know they do understand your feelings in a certain situation.And that feeling is good as you at least believe someone finally gets you. As there were altogether almost 60 people (in whole, all three days) in the meeting, I couldn't have talked a lot to everyone, but need to emphasize it anyway - this Bologna guys are amazing. I have the least problems with them as they organized themselves extremely well (found accommodation for 7 out of 8 people) and organized the transportation together. I really believe we'll cooperate well in the future (maybe with some Italian-Slovenian projects) and hope to meet you once in Bologna. I'll surely come. The question is only when. Wish you all the best! :)
UPDATE: He waited for me like an hour on a bus stop in Vienna, cause I was kinda afraid to walk "home". Marco is always willing to help, what should I say. Thanks!

I've met Marco during the 'before xmas meeting in Maribor' (actually the first meeting that I attended) and surfed his couch in Bologna. A great person, always kind, gentle, and plenty more qualities to list, but you have to meet him by yourself.
One of the responsible for my great impression in my first CS meeting, fundamental to make me a big CS fan that I'm today.

I remember that I told Marco I do not add someone as friend/leave reference if I do not know this person enough. :)
We have been travelled together to many places for various meetings/events and he has always been a great company. He's very active, helpful and has a very organize and that makes him a good leader. So Marco, when are we going next? ^_^

Marco showed up in Maribor for the 2nd before Xmas meeting. We had all the weekend to share our CS experiences and I'm really curious to join him in Bologna where he said they managed to create a really strong group of CS. If his way to be represents the spirit of this group I'm sure my stay there is gonna be great!

Marco with everlastin smile:) is one of the only ones, who really listens You, who really cares what You think about something and who You are!
And he is able to see you as a saint and then you are probably his friend, because he himself is one of the saints of CS-Bologna.
another amazing thing: he never gets tired of my endless annoying questions about italian or atleast he never shows it out. So I hope to learn italian precipitevolissimevolmente while I see my great master.

Marco will be the next ambassador from Bologna. Always conecting people and up to help you in a million ways, we had a great time together. He is very responsable and interesting guy that travels a lot and for this reason has always something new to say and talk about. Sometimes you can meet new places and different people trought his experiences. Now he is a good friend! Don't miss this guy!

I hosted Marco and his friend for a weekend here in Copenhagen. Marco is very polite, helpful and talkative, and his English is very good. I learned a lot about Italian politics in particular. You're welcome here at any time.

Mr Marco Bartini is just the right candidate for being an ambassador. He planned every thing. Though it was a week day but he planned a get together in the evening with other couch surfers and by evening there were 7-8 people! We had authentic dinner at a restaurant and indulged in many interesting discussions. After that went for a city walk/tour. Of course guided by Marco. He took us to all the interesting..secret...not so-known locations.Despite of being tired after whole day at work he was enthusiastic and very considerate. I had a fantastic time surfing on Marco's couch. His joy for life and amazing energy made him such fun and he was a generous host (even laughing at my awful jokes...!). Marco introduced me to his friends (most memorably Harry) and I taught him the words to some Beatles songs, so I think we both gained something...right...?! Any chance to stay with Marco means you will have a great time, so get surfing!

Marco is the most enthusiastic person about CS project I met, he always suggests something to do or somewhere to go, all together. When I phone him, I can feel he's smiling! :)

Marco is very friendly, outgoing and pretty active in organizing CS events! Go for it!

Marco is a great guy. We walked around Bologna, and he took me to a concert. Although the concert was in Italian he took the time to explain me everything. He also took me to some nice bars in Bologna. He is a fun person to hang around with!!!!!

I wanna tell you something about Marco.
We spent together and other Csurfers around Pratello zone, drinking delicious wine a nice evening.
We soke a lot and he was so comunicative!
I sent a message to Bologna group and it was nice to meet Bologna group!
I was there for a convention in Modena, but I didn't lose the chance to meet Marco and his friends!!

.. and Now I have to confirm again what I thought last year.
Marco was my guest for a Russian Dinner organized from my guests and we spent a nice evening.

Marco's a great guy, very energetic and generous, goes out of his way to make a pleasant experience for his guests. Had a good time getting to know him in Bologna. A presto!

Marco was one of the first people I met in Bologna via Couch Surfing at an aperitivo. He immediately helped to welcome me and make me feel comfortable with the group. Marco was amazingly helpful and friendly, and knowledgable (even though he denies it ;) and definitely worth meeting. He showed me around Bologna and introduced me to some of the couch surfing community here. I would gladly catch up with him again :)

I met Mark only twice but the impression I had is a smart guy, talkactive and ready to meet and to help people.

Marco is a new star of Bologna community! :) I feel I can rely on him, indeed. He is so kind, responsible, a gentleman and a truly trustworthy friend. He is always up for hanging out with guests and supporting all activities. I believe CS really needs people like him!!! :)

we met in couchsurfing meeting....and then we went with another people to drink a beer in famous pub(valerio sayd this).
I passed the very good evening, he 'is funny and he know a lot thinghs about computer and internet, and he can help me!!!
