NICOLECHICAGO

 

Nicole was already familiar to me before she came to Belgium, we (sort of) organised the first Independent Women meeting in 2008 together, well, she in Chicago and me in Bruges. So I was really excited when I heard she was coming to Belgium and gladly offered her a couch! We had a good time together with Anick-Marie, and later with Stijn, Howard and Celeste. She's a true Independent woman, with a lovely personality, she's honest and witty and I would host her again any time!

 

after communicating via CS I finally met Nicole at a meetup for watching the movie Suspiria, spoke with her about Greenpeace to which i am impressed with her involvement...and our second encounter was at a "Hey, Mr.Spaceman" show when i got to see her more smiley side :D

strong presence on couchsurfing you are and that, for the counts i've witnessed, doesn't seem to have gone to your head which is good as it does with some people, cheers Nicole!

 

I met her at the Madrid invasion to Utrecht. Her yawns were mythical. Yawning during breaking, yawning while canoing and yawning while dancing at the crappiest sauna-disco. What a such funny yawner. She reminded me of MGM's lion when roaring. Adorable. I couldn't stop laughing.Aaaaaaaaaarrrrrgh!!!

I met her in the meeting in Utrech. I think that she's a nice girl and fun person. I've had a good experience with her, so I'd like to meet her again in the future. She's welcome to my house in Madrid.

I have been lucky enough to have had Nicole and Jenny as my surfers here in Utrecht. I had to squeeze them both into my small room but in the end we succeeded without too much harm done ;-) But what a nice and lovely girl Nicole is! Right from the start we had loads of things to talk about and I felt like we could keep it going for days. I really admire her work she does for Greenpeace and the way she is concerned about and involved in all kinds of environmental stuff. And don't worry Nicole, when I'll visit the States I will definitely come by Chicago (or maybe Washington???) to say hi and spend some time together. I got a last minute request and responded fast and that led to Nicole and Jeanette coming to our apt. in The Hague. They were my first couch surfers (air bed surfers) and we had some good times. Nicole is one of those people who know what they want and I'm just lovin' it. When in The Hague, she wanted to see the kite fest that I myself hadn't even heard of, so that was a good chance for me to do new things in my own city. She and Alvin from australia were also the life of the party at my friends b-day party (Jeanette went back to Berlin that afternoon and Alvin came at 7)She's also adventurous when it comes to food: she took a good sized bite from the haring we got, instead of poking it with her finger and then licking it, what I would've done when someone put raw fish in front of me that I wasn't used to ;-) I also liked our conversations about what drives people to do or say certain things. Nicole: Keep on truckin'! Hope to see you again!

 

Nicole was such an inspirational surfer to have stay with me! Her and her boyfriend Ozzie drove up from Chicago and spent 2 nights on an air-mattress on my floor. Meeting them was so much fun and we really connected. They were my first time hosting EVER and it was such a positive experience I can't wait for the next request. Thanks Nicole!!

 

Nicole is a nice and smart girl. We spend a weekend in Utrecht attending the 'Imvasion de Utrecht'. We had interesting conversations while canoeing through the Utrecht channels for 2,5 hour. Also we partied a lot and ate to much tortilla, ommelette and pancakes. At least i did. Good luck with Greenpeace and above all Obama! Like to meet you in Chicago some time.

Nicole surfed Quentin and mine's couch while travelling. She was very nice, wise, insightful, and has good taste in beers! She walked around the city with me and even attended the CS organization meeting in Antwerpen to truely experience the euro CS scene. Good luck with your job! I have a feeling I will see you again! I hosted Nicole last minute on Martine's advice. We went to an organisation meeting in Antwerp, she helped us with new ideas. It was really enjoyable to host her. Also we share this passion for organizing things :). I hope to see her again somewhere!

Nicole is an awesome person and an awesome host. Nicole and Ozzy hosted two friends of mine and me during the Lollapalooza weekend...She and her boyfriend were very friendly, companionably and trustful...the flat was awesome and I enjoyed it to hang out there...They also offered us food for our way to the festival...The sandwiches were delicious :-D I would definitely host both of them and I hope we will meet each other again...

 

Nice conversation, a comfy couch, and a referral to the best darned pizza place I've ever been.

 

Nicole and her boyfriend are wonderful hosts. Two of my friends and I stayed at their apartment in an awesome area of Chicago (right by Wrigley field). Even though we couldn't hang out much because we went to the Lollapalooza festival and they had stuff going on, we still felt very welcome. Also, thanks for the tasty sandwiches and cherries :)

 

I think I bored her with continual questions about what she does exactly that allows her to travel the world and study people. I was excited to find out she does work for Green Peace and she kind of got me back in the spirit of participating while talking about it. Super easy to get along with and talk to. I hope I'll run into Nicole in my travels some more.

 

Nicole (& her boyfriend) went out of their way to help me out when I was staying in Chicago. She was not only helpful, but she was also great about communicating to work out meeting up. Great CSer! Thanks again!

 

I really liked Nicole after meeting her at a local CS meeting. I could've talked to her a lot longer if we had had the time. I loved hearing about her travels and her experiences in CS. I think I want to go to Scotland now!

Nicole was kind enough to accompany us to a Cubs game (which we obviously blessed, considering their 5-2 victory) and told us a lot about Couchsurfing. She's a great, inspiring ambassador for CS. Hope to see you again!

Nicole is what Chicago CS is all about..she is the quintessential (sp?) chicagoan and she rocks. Nicole is genuine, true, diplomatic, funny, sensitive, and cool as hell to hang with. Thanks a bunch, girl, for sharing your whiskey with a novice! May there more many more nights like that to come!

I hosted Nicole during the first ever Detroit Couch Crash. She was a pleasure to have around and very easy to get along with. We shared good times and good conversations and she even offered to return the favor of hosting when I was in Chicago for the night.

I met Nicole in Lando's loft in Detroit when it turned she knew Darragh from Edinburgh Rocks. She is great fun to be around and can hold a great conversation. I had the chance to go to my first ever baseball experience with her and thank her for setting up the now annual Edinburgh rocks. A fantastic person and amazing couchsurfer.

 

Nicole hosted me for 3 nights while I was in Chicago and I can't begin to say how great of a host she was. From offering food, drink, parking passes (sorry I used so many!), advice and directions, she is an amazing Couchsurfer and person. I look forward to seeing her again someday. Nicole! When I attended my first Couch Surfing event in the city of Chicago. I had no idea that my life would change so greatly. It was a day of Flutags, German festivals, and a good old house party at Nicole's. I had so much fun I missed my last train home. No worries though as Nicole was quick to offer up her comfy couch. Nicole as a person is amazingly warm and friendly and made me, an outsider, feel extremely welcomed in both her house and in Couchsurfing in general.

 

Nicole was so nice and welcoming! It was so great to meet somebody so positive! :)

 

I had a great time surfing Nicole's couch that is just located a couple of blocks from Wrigley Field!!!! She has a cozy place in a great location as well as several books and references available for anyone passing through (or even folks like me that are familiar with the area). A definite recommendation on my end here as there are many great times to be had with Nicole. GO CUBS GO!!!!

 

Every conversation I have with Nicole, I realize more and more how totally awesome she is. She is a perfect ambassador really---she gets people involved and makes everyone feel welcome. I know we will have more adventures to exotic locales like woodstock in the future!

 

I met Nicole at one the the weekly CS meetings. Though our conversation was short, I found her to be very forthcoming and candid.

Nicole is awesome! we spent the day rock climbing with 6,000 lb vehicles in the back country of san diego. i hope we get to do some hiking and hang some more when you journey back to san diego! hope all is well

nicole is really on top of helping to organize the the chicago scene it seems. she comes to lots of events and is just a really wonderful person.

It was great meeting Nichole in person. A very gentle, warm personality. Had fun talking to her on Thanksgiving night. Hope to see her again sometime. Maybe when she travels through sub-continent :P Its great to know how cool people one can meet through couchsurfing !!

It was great to meet Nicole whilst i was in Chicago and dress up in her polar bear suit!

Nicole helped integrate me into the CS Chicago group, and since that time I am more and more in awe of her. She is a perfect CS representative - honest, caring, respectful, open, lively, and intelligent, and I am proud to call her a friend.

 

Nicole was the first CSer I met in Chicago and I'm glad it was her! She kept inviting me back for more events, really made me feel welcome in the group, and eventually convinced me to start hosting. We've been able to get to know each other better over the past few months, and she really is a wonderful city ambassador: open to new ideas and experiences and willing to go out of her way to make sure you're having a good time. I am probably the 100th person to write that you should get to know Nicole, but those other 99 weren't wrong!

 

We met at the 3rd weekly meeting when we (with my host Paul) showed up around 10 pm. We had a short but nice chat when I introduced myself. Go further with these weekly meeting, great idea !

 

Nicole co-hosted a CS Ambassadors Weekender in Chicago which I attend. It was goodtimes all around. Hope to see her down the trail.

Nicole is the ultimate networker, it was a privilege to be able to stay with her. She not only provided us with a great guide to the city (and a map!), but two extremely comfortable couches and ideas for future travels and life! Thanks again!

Briefly met Nicole at the CS gathering on 10/9.

Nicole is an incredible human being and am glad to have had the pleasure to meet her.

I met her and traveled around Israel with her for 10 days as part of a group. She's a very genuine and trustworthy person. I'd let her stay on my couch FO SHO!

After attending her party for second time I can declare that she is very good at that. After a day out, she had us for the evening and we all had so much fun. She is very friendly host.

 

Nicole is a rock star! I enjoyed hearing the 'Adventures of Nicole' at the end of the day - she got to see history in the making by seeing Obama speak. Also, within a day of her being at my place, we were already planning a Denver party-which was a blast. As a guest, Nicole was easy going, and super low maintenance. I enjoyed her political enthusiasm, and staying up late watching CNN and talking about boys. It was like a grown up girlie sleep-over. Nicole is welcome back anytime.

nicole hosted a friend and me in the middle of a road trip out west and was an excellent host/cubs buddy. she scored a ticket and we sneaked her into our section (last row of wrigley) and had a blast watching the cubs beat the reds, then getting pizza and beers at one of chicago's finest establishments for the late crowd. her couch was super comfy and her apartment perfectly located. all of this means nothing without the fact that she is an awesome person. thanks, nicole

Nicole is one of the nicest people I know. She has great stories and has traveled all over the world. Staying with her was a blast and I can't wait to go visit her again!

 

I only wish I could have stayed longer. This is just the coolest girl, great sense of humor, knows just about everything and everyone. I will definitely be crashing in on you again soon!

Seriously though, Nicole was the first person I met through couchsurfing that I did not already know, and it has been great to get to know her better and be able to be introduced to the Chicago CS community through her.

 

I really enjoyed hanging out with Nicole, briefly at the Tractor then back at my host's house later that evening. I hope to hang out more while we're both in the same neck of the woods, or perhaps see you in Vietnam one day. Happy Travels!

I enjoyed a lot chatting with Nicole about very different issues. She is an open-minded person and we could happily spare politically correctness.

Getting lost in downtown Seattle harbor while looking for a late dinner was not a problem at all.

Nicole reminded me heaps of my bestie Theresa: one of those amazing people who appear to be in their element in every context. She goes from educating strangers about global warming at a farmer's market to watching the cubs game to hanging out playing board games at a bar, seamlessly. I truly enjoyed talking to her about politics, travel, awkward encounters and everything in between.

 

Nichole was really easy going and fun to be around. Met her at a CS party at a Blues Bar right before New Years and then again on New years day.

She is witty, and has a great attitude, and a big love of people... very cool girl.

I met Nicole at a small and leisurely CS meet in a funky cafe when we were both visiting Seattle in April 08. A seasoned couchsurfing pro, she's great fun to hang out with :-)

What can be said that has not yet been said? Probably nothing. Every positive comment everyone has made is true, times infinity. Nicole is so knowledgeable about the community, but welcoming and easygoing at the same time. She will answer all of your questions, share a laugh and stories about her worldly travels, and listen intently to you all at once. Chicago is better for having Nicole in it!

Nicole helped make my first couch surfing experience both wonderful and memorable! We were able to share food, friends, life experiences and philosophies, and strange sleeping schedules due to our simultaneous illness! I've never felt so welcome and comfortable in a stranger's home, and I sincerely hope to run into her again someday.

 

Have met Nicole at several events so far. Of course going on her plethora of feedback there isn't much left to say. Awesome girl and sure she'll have a lot of success in whatever she plans to do. Go for Raleigh!

Even through emails before actually meeting, Nicole went above and beyond just polite chit chat. Nicole's profile was the first one I read when I joined CS. When I was done I really wanted to meet her. I decided to go to a meeting at this Ethiopian Restaurant that the Chicago Food Discovery group was going to meet at. This was my virgin CouchSurfing Experience. I was very happy to meet Nicole and thought she was very warm, helpful, funny, and she has a great personality. She taught me a few things I was curious about in terms of CS and gave told me stories of her experiences of hosting various surfers. Nicole is a joy to be around!

 

David (below) and I stayed with Nicole for two nights. She was a great host; she already had things to do, and I felt very welcome to join in. She is also very knowledgeable about her neighborhood. (Also, her red couch is very comfy.) Thank you, Nicole, for a marvelous time!

 

I just got back to AA from my first CS experience. Nicole was an amazing host. Just before we came out, both Chicago and Ann Arbor got hit with a snow storm. Nicole called to see if we were still coming and to make sure we'd be fine driving. While there, she lent us sleeping bags and a travel book (lonely planet) for our stay. She offered amazing insight into the city she obviously loves. Thanks.

Nicole is such a great and sweet girl!! The word HOSPITALITY is small to describe her. She hosted me in my very first experience surfing and I couldn´t have had a better one!
Starting 2 months before my arrival she helped me and gave me a lot of tips by email while I was planning go to Chicago. Once there, she took me to a good midwest bar to taste some of that yummi beer and was my guide with my activities during my stay.

Hat party! I can't say enough nice things about Nicole. She is the walking/living definition of Couchsurfing. She invited me to a party and made me feel at home. Definitely good times in the good ol' Midwest!

 

Nicole is my roommate, and I hadn't known her before we moved in together. I couldn't have asked for a more awesome roommate. Nicole is a great conversationalist who serves up a plethora of amazing tavel stories and is extremly devoted to the couch surfing mission. She is so laid back and chill, but also the perfect coordinator for any situation. She is super respectful of other's opinions and her surroundings. Nicole is a lovely girl, a great humanitarian, intelligent and has something to say, she likes to party and looks good while doing it, you would be privileged to for her to accept you as a surfer. Nicole was the main organiser when she was in Edinburgh, she will be sadly missed.

I loved staying with Nicole! She was so helpful from the very start of our communications; her place is awesome, and it was SO fantabulously fun "pre-halloween" partying with her. I would recommend her in a second to anyone.

 

The craziness and loveliness of our experiences together can hardly be put into words, so I would be forced to invent a word right now... terriplucious! Our time together was nothing short of terriplucious.

Nicole is a Couchsurfing/Edinborough/Chicago expert! I first met her when she set up an awesome couchsurfing event in Madison which turned out to be an incredible success! She was ultra helpful and friendly, and made everyone feel welcome at the event. We met again at a CS get-together in Chicago and got to go to a hockey game together. I finally got a chance to host her during a short visit and we had a blast! Nicole loves to have fun and knows how to show people a good time! It's always fun to hang out with her, and it was nice to visit her on her home turf. I hope she'll be back to Madison again soon, where she'll always find a couch open at my place!

 

Nicole is one of the most accepting, and trustworthy people you will ever meet or if your lucky have the chance to get to know! Honest, caring, and a light in the dark! I am so glad I have had the opportunity to meet her during our short time while I was living in the Chicago area. I'm not in Chicago any more for the CS get together's to be able to see her smiling face, but I hope I am lucky enough to run into her again. Alright, I'm finally writing a reference for Nicole after meeting up on numerous occasions, visiting each others' places, and having several in-depth conversations. I have to say I am totally amazed by her enthusiasm for life and the causes she so wholeheartedly supports. Keeping this relevant, I know she is a really caring host – and I highly recommend her as a guest. Nicole is inspirational; I'm very glad to know her.

Nicole and I met in college. She is adventurous and ready to take whatever life throws at her. She's also brilliant, witty and will be an extremely gracious host or surfer! Get to know her!

I was very greatful when Nicole called me back half an hour after I first logged to CS. I hated Edinburgh as my acquaitance had let me sleep in terrible place for 2 days before I had met her. Nicole made my day and introduced me to amazying world of CS!

Nicole organised a little gathering in Cambridge a couple of nights ago and because of her invite I feel my eyes have been opened again. I met wonderful people there and Nicole seems to feed on building communities of friends like this. I'm sure she's left a trail of happy people wherever she's been. Met at a pub in Cambridge at the meeting she organanised. Nicole was really friendly, interesting and is obviusly really into the whole idea of couchsurfing. Having not yet been couchsurfing and a little nervous about it, she gave me some good advise and i came back from the meeting wanting to try it out as soon as possible. Thankyou Nicole.

 

I met her briefly a few times while I surfed in Edinburgh, ceilidh! She was also one of the organisers of a cs film night which I really enjoyed although I had to leave early. Hope to meet her again and talk a bit more!

We've been really good friends for a number of years now. While traveling through Europe, she let me stay at her place in Edinburgh and showed me a really awesome time. I can't say enough good things about my time here!

Well is there anything left to say after such an impressive profile? We can just agree for 100% that Nicole is a very open and warm person to everyone ( couchsurfers in particular ;) ). I had a great time hanging out with Nicole and her friends! She's a very warm and caring person and I enjoyed her company. With lots of great recommendations on things to do in Edinburgh, she was a great host with an amazing flat (too bad she's moving out soon :( ). She had me try several different kinds of scotch whiskey and even made me some haggis too!

We shared only a dinner at vvas during my last visit. But you don't need much time with her to feel all the energy bubbling inside. Talking to Nicole made climbing Salisbury Crags in the rain much more interesting! Nicole seems to have just the right mix of optimism and skepticism about the world, and has gained some pretty cool perspectives on things.

Nicole is the one who introduced me to Couchsurfing, by setting up an awesome karaoke meet-up during our trip to Berlin in June 2007. We've had great times travelling together, not just to Berlin, but also to the Scottish Highlands, New York City, Chicago and Wisconsin. I spent most of 2006/07 hanging out at her flat, so I can say without qualification that she's a great host, and her dedication to Couchsurfing is borne out by the unbounded enthusiasm and effort she puts into organising events like Edinburgh Rocks!

It was good fun to meet her through the mayhem of Edinburgh rocks,i hope that we can do the same in glasgow!!!

Probably didn't get to chat enough, but we hooked up on several occasions and we got along v well. Great minds meet, they say, and Nicole is definitely a grrrrrreat ambitious and clever one. Oh sweet sweet Nicole! I spent 4 days at her place during the edinburgh meeting and, more, it has been my first "surf"..... I couldn't have been more lucky!! she's so hospitable, sweet and smiling. After writing posts in the Iw group, we finally met and my expectation is more than confirmed! even if she was a meeting organizer, so expected to be very busy......she always had time to make me feel really comfortable and warmly welcome.

If it wasn't for Nicole, i'd have been homeless and half frozen and super wet while in Edinburgh! Instead i found my way to one of the most welcoming couches in the country. I truly enjoyed my time spent in Edinburgh in Nicole's and Rita's company and could not have picked a better host:) The weather not the bog were on our sides, but hey, it's only water! :)

Although I have only met up with Nicole a couple times, she seems to have an excellent personality. I hope we hang out more often!

Nicole graciously agreed to let me surf her couch for 3 nights. In the evenings, we spent some time together cooking, eating and watching! Also, she organised a very successful CS party at her place the day I arrived. She's such a sweet girl with so much passion for the things she does, and also has the most interesting things to say. I feel like I could possibly ask her about anything under the sky and she'll know something about it! Hope to see her again soon!

 

I came to Edinburgh early because Nicole was having a gathering. I ended up staying at her place when Calum left for Latvia. She was great and easy to talk to. Indians rock!!! Her stories of travel are inspirational. She even gave me leftovers, yummy ;D

Nicole and I have had many adventures together. We stayed at a cabin in upstate Wisconsin, bummed around Chicago, kicked it in Cali, and took a spontaneous road trip from Madison, WI to Philadelphia, PA. In February 07 I stayed with Nicole for a week in Edinburgh, Scotland and then the two of us traveled to Italy for a week to sample the sights, sounds, tastes and smells of this beautiful country in the heart of the Mediterranean. Italy was fun and beautiful, but being there with Nicole made for a truly amazing experience. She is a wonderful traveling companion, a respectful guest, and a charming and generous host. I regret that there is not room here to write of all Nicole's remarkable traits. She'll show you a good time in Edinburgh, that's for damn sure.

I'll never forget Nicole's response to my first ever positive response to a couch request- she made me feel like I was an old friend coming to visit and not a complete stranger! Nicole hosted us in her swanky prut-prut apartment in Edinburgh. It was my first couch surfing experience and she put me at ease! She spent loads of time with us, gave us loads of good advice, and went above and beyond the call of couchsurfing. I don't really remember much of St Andrews night due to the fact i was intoxicated, but I remember bumping into Nicole.. and her parents?!? She was going to come back to Calums I think but chikened out and jumped in a taxi :p but this may not be true (cant remember!) She seemed nice enough tho.

Nicole came to Philly with my brother one weekend. I gladly put them up for a couple nights. We all had lots of fun roaming and rambling though that Bruce Springstein song. Nicole was more than curtious. She had great stories, a good sense of humor, and a warm compassionate soul.

 

Nicole is one of the coolest people that I know or have ever met on this planet. She is so driven yet down to earth that she inspires the people around her. Not to mention she is just damn interesting human being, who will go out of her way to help you out. There couldn't be a better host. If you surf with her, you should bring her some Country Time Lemonade.

We studied Swahili together in Madison, Wisconsin and met up in Zanzibar.

nicole first got in touch with me through couchsurfing, but it was through my work that we ended up meeting when i needed a swahili speaker at short notice. we ended up taking a drive up to glencoe together with friends. it was really good to hang out and i look forward to meeting up again soon!
