Sam is an amazing person. He is happiness and positiveness written all over him. From the first hello he made me feel at home immediately and continued that all the way. A fascinating guy with a brilliant collection of videos and music - he will keep you enthralled for a long time. Matey - I owe you a meal and let's make it soon! Thanks a million for a great time.

We met by chance and very quickly became very close friends. Samuel is a treat to every company. Curious. Interesting. Interested. Inspirational.

Sam is a fabulous friend. In the short time I've been in Melbourne I've found someone who is passionate about music, the arts, life and above all, caring for others in such a way that their needs always come first. Sam was awesome he opened up his house to me for a night, guided me through the basics of melbourne city travel and shared some of his awesome interests with me. Keep in touch man, i know big things are on the horizon!

He picked me up in the city and we had a very funny night with some beer, a lot of good music and long conversations together!
1 night was too short! i hope, that i will have the time, to visit you again for a good coffee ;)

My VK machine got lost somewhere so I do know for sure but I'm guessing that S is a replicant of the ultimate sophistication, imagination and beauty incomaprable to Nexus 6 or any other model I have seen in my entire life so far. Anyway if I were a blade runner I would definitely abandon my mercenary lifestyle and devoted myself to idealism and creative writing in return for one of his poems.

I met Sam in Marrakech through several other Couchsurfers. Although we didn't spend that long together, he comes across as a generous and highly smart guy-excellent company. He is also an avid writer, which is always good! I hope our paths will cross again-Sam, you are always welcome to visit Portsmouth!

I had the great pleasure of hosting Sam for one awesome Autumn evening. He is a troubadour to the core. We shared a twelve pack and many hours of delightful conversation and musings. He is one of those rare souls who is just effervescent with motivation and creativity. I was very lucky to hear his beautiful poetry and wisdom, and equally fortunate to discuss our current philosophies on love and life.

I think we met at a very interesting time in our lives, and I think we left knowing a little more about ourselves.

The sooner I run into you again, the better.

Sam is a fun and highly talented and creative being. He is always asking questions and is genuinely interested in all kinds of people. He is very accommodating and sensitive to peoples needs and wants. Plus, he knows some kick ass card tricks, and not just the obvious ones (which arent obvious to me anyway)!

Hosting Sam and Debbie was great fun, and makes me all the more willing to take in stranded CS-ers whenever I can. Sam goes through life with charm, flexibility and an eye for beauty and irony. If you get a chance to host him, do it, and not just for the excellent meals he can whip up or the delightful magic tricks. May our stomping grounds overlap again.

Sam is a great guy. He hosted me in Bristol, and I had a "this is better than real life" experience - the delicious food we ate and the brilliant company made it an unforgettable weekend. I have rarely enjoyed myself more than at his place! I even ditched a Banksy exhibition, the initial reason for my trip, in order to spend more time there. See you soon matey!

 

Sam is a remarkable human being. He came to me at the turning of the tide, guided by the little light beside me, and offered me a haven from the storm. He took me from the sea and he nourished me with friendship and calmed me with gentleness. His outstretched hand welcomed me and his fire warmed me. He needed not, but he sensed my need. Sam is a man of many talents. From cookery to magic, from gymnastics to literary criticsm, Sam is your man. He's also a very generous host, a highly adept raconteur and an excellent person with whom to drink gin!

 

Sam is a true delight to spend time with. We met at game night and formed an instant connection. He invited me to his mum's house in Bristol for a couple days, which was amazing, and we shared some of our deepest thoughts and feelings with one another. I know that couchsurfing has some amazing people, but they pale in comparison to Sam. He is truly one of a kind and I'm very honored to be his new friend. I am very much looking forward to future good times together. We definitely have a karmic connection!

Sam...we first met at a party in London, and unfortunately didn't see each other untill months after, around a chinese chequers board. but i had the incredible pleasure of being his guest in Bristol for a weekend, and what to say: he is amazing, his hugs are superb, he'll go out of his way for his guests, has an incredible music taste, reads probably more than me...and is a giving sweetheart. ah don't forget the curlies! and the food he cooks. gosh, i so want to be back in Bristol now!

 

Ha ha, almost 6 months on and I still have hs beanie despite meeting a few times since and am finnally leaving him a reference... shameful I know!

I don't know what it is, but there's something about Sam that makes you feel alive and mix that with Spela and you have one hell of a crazy, full of life combination!

Sam is a big glass of australian fun!! First when I met him, he appear at my house out of nowhere as a snowman:)))). And than we did a drag queen show, and than I met him thosand km away again and we had some Triple sec for the brakfast..:)) I guess it is enought to say he is a big fun!!

 

....now, i've been hearing about sam for quite a while, and as we finally met, it was only natural to find out we are deeply connected ever since. of course there was only one (lovely) missing link between us....
best example for his fetching personality: he makes and lets people behave like they really are, with no judgement whatsoever, but encourages to express the most honest self. sam puts people at ease and this quality is nurtured by some of the most important principles in life: sam - respect, openness, curiousity, empathy, charm, being different, being flexible: you know it all. it amazed me to see how peacefully you move in your world, and naturally let others be part of it. so grateful that i found the entry as well....!

Sam is a kind and compassionate guy with a great sense of humor. He's laid-back and easy-going. He always has a new magic or sleight of hand trick to show you and he plays a mean game of Scrabble. All in all, a fun friend and good guy to know.

I had the chance to meet Sam at my place in Norwich, while he was being hosted by my housemate Karl. He was my first contact with the couchsurfing experience and the great impression I got from him definetely pushed me to get deeper into this project. take care mate

It was such a whirlwind of a time staying with Sam. I had been traveling around Europe then made the swift move to Melbourne. Sam showed me many of the little hidden bars that Melbourne is so well known for having, as well as his favourite little shops and cafes.
Thus far i have actually stayed with Sam twice and both times have been lovely. I'm very grateful for his generosity and kindness, for letting me come back a second time, as well as taking care of me when i came down with a cold. Thanks so much Sam and happy travels.

and the best part is the wind carried him back to Melb. Now we are sharing the same rooftop, everyday is a little surprise, a little magic, lots of music and hugs..
Sam is a hungry kid, feed him with books and and poems. Sam is a wise man, feed him with love and warmth.He will dance with you until the sun rises!

Sam is a delight. I love his apparent attitude towards life and the people he meets during it. He's a lot of fun, and nice bloke to boot. I'm a bit bummed out he's leaving before I get a chance to know a bit more about him, but I hope the next adventure of his life is fantastic and full of unexpected occurences.

 

Sam is a dude! When we met I already felt like we had been friends for ages, he has fascinating opinions, but loves new ideas as well, which is really cool. We had some stimulating discussions about the great philosophical mysteries of the world. I imagine we will get to know each other more. As we share the same town, and of course a love of tea!

 

It was a pleasure to meet Sam. He is a source of fascinating and amusing anecdotes as well was being a patient listener.
A perceptive observer of the world and has keen interest in the human psyche. Coupled with a great deal of personal charm, makes him the ideal houseguest and dinner companion.

The thing that I'm saddest about when it comes to Sam is that I didn't get enough of a chance to have some of the really good conversations I know I would've been able to have with him before he left for a year.

Friendly, engaging, and interesting to talk to, Sam also seems to share my interest for good food and baking/cooking, which naturally wins him a lot of extra points. ;) You'll enjoy spending time with this guy, so meet him if you can.

Sam is a lovable guy who is always interesting to talk to. We enjoy discussing certain people's grandmothers, childhood memories of ridiculous cartoons or watching comedies (usually english) that push the boundaries of what is truly wrong. Interestingly we have both seperately watched the banned Pokemon Episode: Dennō Senshi Porygon to see if we were in fact epileptic. Some in fact may call that stupid, others call that extreme sport. I on the other hand with my enquiring mind would prefer to know. :P

 

Always a pleasure hanging out with Sam! He's certainly comfortable around a dinner table, drink in hand, conversation and laughs aplenty... He also seems to always have an evening planned and knows all the secret bars and clubs in Melbourne...

It was such a pleasure to meet Sam. I feel at ease with him and there is basically no topic he hasn't an opinion on which doesn't mean he is not open to yours. Sam is truly a person you have to meet. He has a contagious personality & laughter. We met over drinks and follow up with a lunch and a long discussion on everything. His enthusiasm for living and experiencing all thing is influential. I look forward to meeting again in the future.

Ah, Sam. I can tell when a person has lived their life through the prism of literature and it is a fabulous prism indeed. Though it does not mean that we will refrain from gaping at trainwrecks when the opportunity passes out drunk in front of us!

Watch out people this guy is bad news. If you don't want to have a wicked time, meet interesting people, have crazy and strange conversations about naked pirates and the wonders of the universe then I advice not
contacting this guy. Too much of an all around crazy good time!

 

I had met Sam a few times at CS gatherings but really got to know him when we bumped into each other in the city and talked flat out for a couple of hours over beer. I think we covered every big topic that afternoon. Since then we've hung out more and more, and each time, it is great! He is open and honest, a big thinker willing to share his ideas about life, and someone who just can't sit still in life - a reflection of his want to know and experience it all. I'll miss our chats when he jet sets to London for a year, and am really glad for the opportunity to get to know him even better before he leaves.

Sam is an articulate and well-spoken person and poet. He has this thing of coming up with, let's call them nteresting statements, and I just love it when he does that.
He is also warm and generous and has lots to offer.
P.S. We'll see whether we'll be able to sneak you into the girls (and stilletos) only Sex and the City premiere. ;)

Though I didn't remember his name, I won't forget his smile! We had an awesome-town time with a huge bunch of other CSers on the Mornington Peninsula and I'd definitely enjoy hanging out with this dude more.

Sam was a great guest. I almost fainted when he presented me with a flower when we first met and then asked me to waltz in front of a Jewish Synagogue in Wroclaw. All in all a very intriguing personality. I was highly impressed to find him reading Kafka, admiring Camus and quoting Kant (well, great minds think alike). We may meet again, hopefully in Oz on my way to New Zealand.

 

I meet Sam in Wroclaw, where he stayed with the same host (Magda). It was great to meet Sam; he's a fun, interesting guy and experienced traveler. I hope we meet up again sometime!

We met Sam at Elzbieta place. He was our CS mate for one night. Very nice guy. Happy and easygoing, always smiling and good talker. Can not say more about Sam for the short time we hanged around with him, but we want to meet him in a near future again so we can spend more time sharing CS experiences. Hope you visit Portugal again some day. Is so, just tell us.

Sam is a great person! He is very creative and kind of deep. He is well travelled and can give lots of hints and advice on places and so on. He is also a funny guy and makes for a good evening out! Sam profile is exactly what it say on the tin.. and more. He has a bubbly personality that makes you feel at ease. From meeting one Thursday evening to having a great weekend of walks, long conversations, party with mixes of different alcohol, poetry & lots of laughs. I got introduced to Sam through a mutual friend and my first thoughts when I met him were: "my friend's right. Sam and I are going to get along really well" and so we did! From doing the silliest of things to engaging in the deepest of conversations, Sam never seized to impress me with his positivity, outlook on life, countless stories and experiences. I was never one that would have been particularly adept at communicating with strangers let alone develop a friendship with them but Sam changed all that. I had a fantastic weekend in Bristol, talking about bigger things than ourselves, eating ridiculous amounts of junk food, watching awesome movies and having my passion for reading rekindled.
Sam is perhaps one of the most open-minded and easy-going people I have ever met and from the looks of things here, it seems like I am not the only person that he has had a profound effect on.

I met up with him and his lovely mum during their reunion in Ljubljana and definitely made the most out of a snowy week here!

I met him at Finn's. We both have getting lost or redirected on a tram in common. He's a very outgoing and great guy. I hope he comes out to California to visit sometime and hopefully get to know him better because from the short experience with him he was awesome guy!

 

It was great fun to stay with Sam and I hope it also was for him...He showed us those places you would never find in Melbourne (delicious dumplings) and homely pubs...
It is totally great to listen to his stories (out of his own head and experiences or those he reads out)...
It was so good to be able to spend some time together in Leipzig...and who knows, as he will be in Europe until the end of Mai...maybe we'll meet again in the Netherlands :)

There are couchsurfing occasions that leave behind the deep impression of you having received so much more than you were able to give - hosting Sam had been one of these.
Whether bursting out of laughter and thought (both equally intense), teasing Christ (well, rebuked) or praising the wonders of music: be prepared to get inspired by so many ideas that they'll keep you busy for quite a time.

He's definitely very energetic guy, fantastic companion if you like joking, laughing, but also having deep serious conversations. We had fantastic time together in Brussels, and it was so fun to analyse 15-16th paintings with Sam, spotting details that I would have normally missed :) and he reminded me that i really like playing chess! And the music.. so much in common.. really nice time!

We only knew each other for a few minutes and he trust me enough to let me clumsily ride the bike through busy amsterdam ;)! You know you always meet the coolest people when they are just about to leave (well this is him)! COME BACK, COME BACK!

He is quite unusual, crazy, fun to talk with.He reminded me literature's magic! Two people living in different continents can meet in another continent and talk about the same book. =)
His travel adventures made me want travel more.

I really enjoyed all the time spent with Sam, discussing, playing games, going out, found many common interests and never got bored.

 

Despite the fact that I had to work, dinners to attend to, and being a one-legged-wicked-witch, Sam put up with me and made a huge impression on me. Yes he did scratch beneath the surface, shared music, books, movies, poetry, and all good things we love. Looking back at these days with Sam I love Couchsurfing even more than I already did, thanks to him. I am so grateful to have met him and can't wait to extend this experience.

Sam was a very lovely host. I had hoped to meet a new friend and get a warm roof over my head, what I got was a great friend with a warm and generous heart to go with it. We would talk about everything until the wee hours, share books and experiences, and generally had a fantastic time.
* * * (Addition) As I later learned, Sam does make a killer world-class pancake. It exceeded my expectations and I was very pleasantly surprised. I miss you Sam! :)

 

Sam was couchsurfing with a friend, and they both came over for dinner at my place, and later that night we had some drinks too. Even though our time together was short, I had a blast talking and laughing with him, he's one of those people you immediately feel at home with. There's always a next time indeed, so looking forward to it.. :)

 

Although I couldn't host him, we met later on a cosy dinnerparty in Amsterdam. He is a charming and very lively person, full of jokes. He makes friends very quikly. Happy travels my friend, and see you some day in Melbourne.

Sam was my own valentine fruitcake! We had way too much fun for so little time! Sammie knows how to entertain people with card games and hobbit movies on youtube! Sam and I met up in Clifton late one night and he was kind enough to take me back to his place and give me wine, share some of his favorite bands with me, and let me read his first play. I hope to spend more time together soon, as we are both Bristol locals for the time being.

 

It is not necessarily easy to be an idiosyncratic iconoclast in this world...but Sam manages with effortless style and dignity. His unguarded passion for life surprises, tantalises, energises, and emphasises what experiences like couchsurfing are all about. Whoever you are, whatever it is you do, Sam will open his heart, mind, and arms in welcome.
I recommend running to all three.

When I met Sam over beer and a kebab in Bristol, we hit it off right away and have kept in contact ever since. Sam is an intelligent, entertaining guy who is always worth spending time with, even if I haven't been asleep for 36 hours! We're alike in many unexpected ways and so I'm sure we'll meet again (and again) in the future.

Was a case of 'catch me when you can' when we were trying to meet up cos of all out respective traveling commitments. But finally we met up in Brussels.

Hearty just about sums up Sam, from his laugh to his appetite for life, food and people. He is great fun to be with - I had loads of laughter and conversation with Sam and Spela.

Although I only spent a few hours with Sam and didn't actually host him in my home, that was enough to show me that he's a warm, thoughtful, intelligent, polite, caring, funny and generous person. I really enjoyed taking him on a short sight-seeing trip to the Peak, chatting to him about our CouchSurfing adventures and even meeting his parents. Sam displays everything that's good about CouchSurfing.

Sam is a genuine and fun guy with an intense passion for food (both eating and spilling it on himself) and language. I would not hesitate Sam as a host, surfer or just someone to share a bowl of tiger prawns and some swedish mullwine with.

 

I loved my time with him. I loved his house. I loved his kitchen. I loved his cat. I loved his bedroom and the mat he made for me. I loved his friend Emily (actually a lot :-)). I loved his english. I loved his poetries. I loved his music. I loved the time he arranged for me and Emily and him to be together. I loved how he feels for CS and how into it he is. I loved his courtesy and the way he atually rescued me from the gruesome lonelyness in Melbourne I was about to experience before he took me in. And I loved the way he took care for me.

Wow what a amazing powerfull guy, he would probably take u out for hours and hours and he wouldn't get enought to show u hidden places which is just great. It was just great to stay with Sam, he is up for fun and u could do a lot of crazy things with him. He does has a huge musik collection don't even want to mention but just try not to listen to it because i couldn't get enought. His House is so large that u could get lost and if so just listen to the piano it will help u to find the way back.THE BED up in the sky u'll be able to have your own space up there it's not really hard to have a relaxed day in his house or in the garden. I loved the time which we spend together and i look forward to meet u in Germany and Turkey.

 

I felt comfy straight away in this large house with these bookshelves and poems and the wonderful old piano...i didn't meet the ghost jet, but as for Sam and the other housis - they are all lovely people :-)

 

Sam is an awesum person! We met up a few times in Melbourne & I would recommend that you hang out with him if you can! Hes interesting, outgoing & fun.. hehe well those things normally go together right! I wish you all the luck with your future travels! I hope that it all works out! :)

things to know about SAM

1. He is THE ambassador, he makes a beautiful job for CS. i think he really got the spirit of that comunity.

2. He likes to talk, like me, just talking to learn more and more, and to take the best from the people...

3. he loves music, plays piano, and got the biggest music collection i ever saw on a PC.

4. Dance is as important for him than for me, he understand the riddim and we had pleasure to share music and moves.

5. he s going to europe, and gonna travel trough europe so please, people, host this funny and clever guy and give him the chance to discover fully the old continent.

6. finally, trough that week we spent together we became close friend and i wish you all the best in the futur.

Sam is a passionate traveller and people person - what a great ambassador he is, not only for the Melbourne Group but for CS in general.

it was a pleasure to stay at sams place, he is really a lot into the couchsurfing thing, and despite a lot of fun you can also have good talks with him, and ask him to give you icecream, he's got the best chocolate ice cream in the world, and by the way his cat will love you :)

Met Sam for a drink. haha - for a whole day instead. A very nice day (and night)! we had a great time, listening to music, chatting, seeing Miso live, sharing delicious food and also finding me a job! Sam is such a nice and caring person and fun to hang around with! Thank you Sam, for everything!

 

It does not get much better than Sam and that is exactly why he is the Ambassador! I truly adore this man; from his charming smile to his endearing personality...he is 10+++. We talked about everything and yet I still felt like there was more. I think he would make for an awesome travel partner, host, and/or guest. He will be greatly missed, although I know that we will one day find each other again in some part of this beautiful world.

I met Sam at a CS diner in Chinatown, introduced by Paul, my CS host in Melbourne. Sam is certainly a nice guy, funny and interesting. What a great night it was! And the day after, we met again at a latin festival and spend a very good time. See you soon, Sam!

We met at a CS dinner in Melbourne and went to a party from there, got to chat for far to short, but I hope we will catch up at some point and meet again somewhere in the world.

we met in Melb through cs meeting of friends where I did a fire show for all. he is a chilled, creative, knoledgeble, nice guy. I look forward to learning more when we catch up again. Maybe traveling!? Dingo

 

Sam is an open, interesting, witty and intelligent guy, who I enjoy verbally sparring with...and getting to know better.
He's extremely trustworthy, and makes a mean mojito (which he no doubt had plenty of time to learn to make whilst pretending to be an intellectual, perpetual Arts student wanker).

I met him at Jeanette's (another couchsurfer) Housewarming Party. We couldn't talk much but he is a really nice guy, he treated me so well and he even prepared me a cocktail drink, a mojito! ;-)

I meet sam some times around dub. and we had really intereesting conversation aboout japanese movie of the master Miyazaki and about common taste in movies (He have a really good knowledge about arts! that's great!). When I met Sam on July's CS Meeting in Dublin I already during a few minutes of first talk regreted I hadn't known Him earlier (!) as He was leaving Dublin like in two days:( I really wish we had met sooner in Dublin and spent more hours on exchanging our views about books(we both love them!),experiences,philosophy,culture...;Sam is a very intelligent guy with an impressive flare/sparkle in His eyes;)like He says Himself He's an Introverted Extrovert...(just love this phrase!)-> a complexed guy You might say...- but is there sth more interesting about a person than being complicated and puzzled!? I met Sam in Dublin, he was the sandwich guy when I was starving, that's how he saved my life; then he rescued me when I was completly lost in the city (he was irish dancing in the middle of the street so that I could spot him), bought me some disgusting and very expensive chinese tea, took me to the bookshop where I found out he read all the books i love...everything was brilliant until I found out he's a poet, and poetry's for loosers!!

I'm so glad we met him at the CS meeting. He is a hoot and a riot-such a character! We had the most absurd conversations about nothing and everything, but we wouldn't have had it any other way. It is so nice to meet down-to-earth people that are so open to new experiences. We must meet again in either the US or Australia!

OI! - What to say? I like Sam. He´s someone who has so much positive energy that I know I´ll have a fun time being around him - and he´s definately someone I´d steel a huge chocolatefudgecake with ( and maybe even share it)AND! He knows how to play my favourite song - which makes him even better - and to write something more CS relevant - Host him and you´ll have a great time!!Be hosted by him and greatness of time increases even more :)

 

Sam, is... the original couchsurfer, he mastered it, the hard way. Ask him about it. He is so warmly welcoming, he makes you feel like he really enjoys your company, he's attentive, makes you feel important (or do you just do that for me, Sam?) Very comfortable with himself, and he's able to admit, he is the much better looking double used in Ocean's 12. He is dedicated to being a great host, he's goes the extra distance, as him to give you a Tour of some Melbourne sites, or even restaurants, he knows quite a few, and they will recognise his face when you walk in the door, a true sign of a local. Together we are always laughing and smiling, he is warm and friendly.

Sam is muli-talented--full of ideas, adventure, and the energy to pull it all off. He was the first person I have ever just jumped in a bus with and took off on a whim without really knowing him. I was rewarded with a 3 day trip of non-stop laughter and entertainment from this fun Aussie bloke. Make sure to check out Sam's dance moves and card tricks which are amongst many suprises you'll find in his satchel of world experiences.

We met Sam in Dublin and liked him so much, we tried to spend time with him every day that we were in town! His description of himself as an "introverted extrovert" is spot-on; it's rare that you can be in a noisy, party atmosphere with someone and still have a meaningful conversation, but Sam manages to be both lots of fun yet intelligent and introspective at the same time. The only bad thing about him is that he lives on the other side of the world, but we'll try not to hold that against him. :-)

Sam contacted me for a drink in Melbourne and I'm so happy we met. He knows the city very well and he brings you to cool places you wouldn't even consider entering as a tourist. He's open, he's energetic and he has a great sense of humour. I definately will try to meet him again when I'm back in July and Sam, you are very welcome to use my coach when you come to Brussels in November!

Sam the man. Someone who is well traveled and comes across as a person who will contribute much to the couchsurfing project. We share views and ideas about how we involve ourselves in cs and is a welcome addition to our small but growing cs group of friends in Melbourne.

Samuel kindly contacted me when he saw I was in Melbourne and we met up on a beautiful afternoon which we spent mostly lying in the Botanic Gardens. Sam felt right away like an old friend, and I found it ridiculously easy to talk to him. I will endeavour to stay in contact with Sam. He is a very interesting man with a wise soul and I hope against hope this is not the last I see of him.

Oh, and he also read me a poem in an awesome bookstore I would never have found otherwise and melted my heart! Be careful, do not let this man read you poetry!

Sam joined us to celebrate Natashas birthday in a lovely pub with several other couchsurfers. He even brought Tash a present - a cd of someone she didnt know of and it was driving her insane not knowing what type of music it was!! Listened to it finally and love it!! Sam is a very thoughtful person and after meeting him for the first time can say he really goes out of his way for people and he definately has the right CS spirit!!
