Maia Lassen-Purser and Miles Erickson

The are wonderful Everett neighbors and gracious host and guides to the Pacific Northwest.

 

I unfortunately didn't get to meet Miles and Maia, but was able to surf at their house and take care of the very lovable Perkee while they were out of town and I was in town for a wedding. I hope to be able to meet up with them the next time I'm in the area! Thanks Miles and Maia!

My friend Jürgen and me only stayed for one night with Maia and Miles but despite of that little time they were wonderful hosts! They gave us excellent advice on what there is to do and to see around Everett and they even prepared a delicious dinner and breakfast for us. Thank you so much for everything!

Miles and Maia have a cool place. It has a sweet view of the sound in Everett. I also managed to have the best sleep of the trip, and the best bed (which I'm very grateful of)! They managed to direct us down to Seattle and back without a hitch. It was fun discussing the environmental/ethical dilemma of modern gold mining. You're welcome to stay at my place in Columbus if you ever make it east.

I met Maia in June of 2009 when I went to a dance summer intensive in Santa Clara, CA. It wasn't long after I met her that I realized what a blessing it was. Her compassionate spirit, graceful dancing and fantastic personality made my weekend a wonderful one. It was a joy to dance alongside Maia each day, and then decompress together at night over dinner, a walk or listening to music.
A great big thank you to Maia for getting me involved in CouchSurfing and I hope to learn more from her in the future :)

Maia and Miles are a sweet couple. They rescued us at the last-minute since we hadn't found any hosts in Seattle. They did delicious breakfasts for us and helped us found our way to Seattle. You will always be welcomed in France folks and this time I will cook for you!

 

Maia and Miles gave me a call, responding to a last minute post I made on the emergency couch requests for seattle group. They were so warm and lovely, promising me breakfast... I got so much more than a meal. They welcomed me into their lives; I fell hard for Perky, their dog, and for all of the delicious cooking. They're really open and o so kind people. Thank you!

My experience with Miles and Maia was incredibly pleasant. They were very accepting and patient with my late arrival. They prepared a clean and neatly made futon to sleep and a wonderfully elaborate breakfast made with fresh herbs from their garden. Miles also lead me on a gentle and scenic stroll to the coast with their beautiful dog named Perky. Miles and Maia are both so generous and make for extraordinary ambassadors. Thank you.

My cynicism and major personality flaws didn't deter Miles and Maia from being lovely, friendly and helpful hosts.

Miles transit planning background helped me get to the Boeing factory in time for the 9am tour and more impressively plotted a route for me to walk across the US/Canadian border and into Vancouver which was so in depth that it even amazed the Canadian border protection officer when I showed her.

Maia starts making breakfast at 5:15am SHARP, which is TOO early to be doing anything in my world, but having said that, the waffles were delicious.

So they're really friendly people. That, or they're VERY VERY good actors.

Miles and Maia are so good at organizing events that the party outgrew their space and moved down the road - an awesome sign in my book. They were friendly, gracious hosts who really channeled the couchsurfing spirit into the event and made it a great experience for all. Thanks again!

We have meet miles in everett. He gave as a lot of tips for our trip in the backcountry of washigton. He is very informed about the region and gave us the information to hike there. Also in advanced he gave us a lot of tips to get there and so on….
And because of the fine weather we had a great flight together around the glacier peak…. Thankyou very much for all….

 

It was great to spend time with him and his friends in Everett, he makes wonderful wafles, he is a quiet and ressourcefull person, we hope to see him again, maybe in Paris to see Beaubourg together

 

Miles contains miles and miles and....of generosity!!!! Boy! The skill you need in his presence is the skill of receiving! If you can do that and give with the same unconditional manner, than you are in a great couchsurfin' team that rocks the rest of the world!

At first i didn't know what to think of his smile...than, i was introduced to the rainbow effect of his internal openess and ability to travel the unbeatened paths of expression and exploration.

Here is a simpler way of saying this: Miles reveils his greatness and depth without trying to, but once i started knowing him better, i experienced his enriching knowledge, openness, creative expression and love for variety in the world.)

Take the time to know him! You might leave with a sense of deep connection and with a lot of clues on where to go next and how to get there!

Miles very generously took my girlfriend and I at the last moment. His suggestions about what to do and see in Seattle made for a perfect day, and the accomodations he provided were very comfortable. His dog is great, as were the breakfasts! I enjoyed talking with him about his work and hobby (pilot!) experience.

It was nice to sleep in miles beautiful room, to have a shower and to talk with him other the life and the whole rest. He gave us any informations about the area around seattle and he maked us tasty waffles in the morning.

Miles has a broad perspective on life and is a kind soul, full of adventure. I can't recommend enough taking the opportunity to meet this good lad.

 

Miles not only shares his name with my favorite backpack, he is an all-around great guy. We got to know each other because I am in the process of moving to Everett. He has helped me out a lot with information regarding our city, including finding a written law regarding the legality of chickens. When I came to visit, he organized a little gathering at his place and served some DELICIOUS gluten-free, dairy-free, and vegetarian foods! Yumyumyum! I'm excited to be his neighbor and know that many more delicious meals will be shared! Thanks so much, Miles, and see you soon!

Stayed at Miles' place with another friend. Was a great time although we had only little time to chat. Especially Miles would give us lots of useful hints for the following trips. Great fellow, hope we'll meet again! :-)

 

From quiksand, pittfalls, 9 mile hikes, his new and improved chicken soup, great conversations, open minded, upbeat, great person, outgoing, if you go to Everett, indeed you can get all that and more !!!

Miles is a great host, introduced me to all his friends, If adrenaline is what you look for Miles is the guy to look for, or to just kick back and talk !!!

You must meet Pricky !! and Miles ofcourse, host him or meet him, this guy is full of energy and really positive !!

Miles took me in last minute, it was a good first time couch surfing experience!

 

Miles was a great host. He made us feel really welcome, and had prepared some great chicken soup for us. Miles was interesting to chat to, and it was great to go on a more 'challenging' hike - we loved every minute of it! A great guy, and a great cs host!

Miles was a great host. He took me and my partner for an overnight hiking trip in the Cascades national park. We got slightly lost along the way, turning a ‘moderate’ hike into a somewhat more challenging uphill hike (especially whilst carrying 35lbs rucksacks) – but we had a really great time. Miles even prepared his renowned chicken soup which was delicious. He’s a very genuine guy and was an ideal host, we’d love to return the favour if you ever find yourself in England!

 

Miles took one of my best friends in the world on his airplane so that she could get down to the camping trip we all wanted to go on. Also, he let her fly the plane. Turns out we're neighbors at the Oregon Country Fair too.

Miles agreed to host me based on two emails and a phone conversation, and, I guess, his gut. It worked out quite well. He hosted one other person while I was there, a woman originally from Alaska named Lita (I think). When I arrived he had just returned from a hike with another person from Couchsurfing, Pablo, an Argentine who was living in France, but in the Puget Sound area to meet with the Gates Foundation about a malaria research project. Miles whipped up a savory chicken soup for the four of us, the night I arrived.
Prior to meeting Miles I was reluctant about my kids meeting him, but after getting to know him, I wanted my kids to meet him, because he is a quality person.

I actually DID trust Miles with my life, and well, he didn't let me down! He gave me a thrill ride in his airplane and we talked transportation. He's an interesting guy and I wish we had more time to hang out.

I contacted Miles first to know better about outdoor activities in Seattle area and he was really helpful to make my trip better. We shared some time and had ice-cream, hiked, discussed, went to the bank, the post office... (jaja), and made a little fun of Perkee. The end of our journey was a real Couchsurfing rally: He managed to be in time at home to receive and host two independent surfeurs, and prepared diner for us. Thanks a lot!!! Hope to see you soon!

Miles is extremely interesting. He repeated directions to the beach for me until I understood and he tired of speaking XD His futon is comfy, and his town is beautiful. Although he had another surfer spending the same night as I, his studio/condo didn't feel cramped. Perky, his dog, is so cuddly! Thanks, Miles, can't wait to see ya again!

Miles is a fascinating person with too many talents to count. Watching him make a gas stove out of tin cans, a quarter, and some denatured alcohol was a hoot. I appreciated his account of his travels in India, as well as his take on religion. I'm also thankful for the sage advice he gave this novice re: hiking and camping.

My first experience and a big Thx to Miles for everything, like the tour of the Boeing factory and the flight in his airplane. Just AWESOME !! thx you so much for this memorable day !

Miles and Perky are great hosts! Good soup and a good conversation made me want to act on all my plans immediately. Plus the trade of podcasts gave me good things to listen to on the rest of my ride.

Miles was an excellent host. His apartment was very inviting, and his dog perky was most wonderful. Miles made one of the most mad spice, tea, ginger, drink concoction I have ever had the pleasure of drinking, all in hopes of curing a cold that I had. Absolutely great. Miles will give you a great place to stay and a good conversation, unless contra dance is on the horizon, then suit up and dance the night away!

Miles is an incredibly positive guy, with a really cute, lovely dog too! He's very helpful and friendly, good time spent with him, in an airplane, with him flying! Quite an amazing experience. I look forward to seeing him again!!!

Me and my friend chris surfed his couch, it was great. We didnt have access to CS so when we got to the folk festival we got the band to call him out and announce..."MILES ERICKSON! THE CANADIANS ARE HERE!"

Miles and his sweet dog Perkee were great guests! He even unclogged a drain for us! He has great stories to tell and is very pleasant to be around.

Miles is one of the most respectful people I know and is always open to adventure. I have had a lot of fun with and learned a lot from my times with Miles.
