ABOUT ME

I often forget I am not 22. Then I look in the mirror. I work at maintaining health, mind and body.
I have three grown children. Live in a small town. Grew up in the East in a large family. Now I live with my husband and my French Bulldog Tori.
I got married in April and left my house.
PHILOSOPHY

Committed to working with people individually, usually adolescents and women. It manifests in many ways
My mom use to tell me about life during the depression and how her family would invite strangers in for dinner. And other things that make me challenged to be open to all.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

Being here. I am very involved in community and public health. I love art and have tryed a couple different medias, most recently working with dye and fabric. I also am dedicated to my profession in family planning and public health. Away from that part of my life I read, follow politics, both local, national and other places, Winter: Read walk and exercise inside. Other part of the year as able, sail, hike, ride my bike down by the river, walk, sail, read. I do a lot with my children, making up stories, reminiscing, traveling, eating, visiting with friends.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

Mostly I have had hosted. My father was from Holland, his sister was the person who recieved all the relatives and family friends from Holland who came to the USA. She was my second mother and I spent time there and experiencing these folks and enjoying them.

A guy I use to see hitch hiking the state, he was black in a white world and I HAD to meet him, find out what his deal was. He stayed with us many times over the years.

Interests

Politics, health, people, sanity, Joy. Child welfare, I am a foster parent, although at this time I am unable to take on a fulltime committment. I have worked with adolescent girls in prison and pyschiatric settings.
Being comfortable. Being in the Sun.

Music, Movies, and Books

READ..the list is long. Love music, from Howlin Wolf, to Patty Griffin. I watch movies, most are Independent Films, documentaries and classics.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Little miracles, seen, supported, experienced and enhanced.
Met my daughter for the first time, when she was 27. Live in a community for >30 years, watching things/people/culture change.
Have 3 children who are the best people I know, each in their own way.
