Groups I Belong ToNot a member of any groups yet. Couch Information
Couch Available: Yes Preferred Gender: Any No smoking allowed Has children: No Can host children: No Has pets: No Can host pets: No Max Surfers Per Night: 5
Shared Sleeping Surface: No Shared Room: DependsGuests will be sleeping on beds, couches or the floor. The beds are in seperate rooms whereas the couches are in a common area. There is a bathroom on each floor for all to share. Details would need to be worked out per request. I live in an old 2 story farm house out in the country, about 2 1/2 miles north of Lake Andes, South Dakota. I have a 2 spare rooms with a full size bed, 1 queen sz. bed and bunk beds and another room, (game room) with a twin size bed. I have two "hide-a bed" sofa's and loads of floor space. I also have all the pillows and bedding to host a small army. I usually go to bed early but that's not set in stone..so to speak.
I have a very large friendly dog and 2 horses. As hard as I may try there is always an ample amount of dog hair about. I smoke on the main floor of the house and don't mind if others do, but wouldn't mind smoking out side for the duration of a guests' stay.
As far as fun things to do, the river is 6 miles away so boating, swimming, fishing and just enjoying the absolute peace and quiet of nature, see the prairie in its natural state.
I can host guest almost anytime and would usually be able to show folks around. I don't know how many days would be too many...depends on the guest. Friends (6)

Personal DescriptionI am quick to laugh. I wake up cheerful...almost always. I love to swap stories, have a few drinks and spend time with good friends. I really enjoy the outdoors, tending flowers, being in the garden, playing with my dogs and riding my horses. I have a stressful job so I enjoy peace and quiet when I can get it. I love my kids and grandkids and spend time with them every chance I get. I rarely "act my age" according to my family. I may grow old but I refuse to grow up! Even though I prosecute criminals for a living and have come to know the darker side of human nature, I still believe in the good in people and treat everyone with respect. How I Participate in CSI have hosted only a couple times and it was great! I look forward to hosting anyone who wishes to visit. I have told everyone who will listen what a great project this CouchSurfing is. CS made my vacation the most memorable time of my life! I was hosted by truly fantastic people!CouchSurfing ExperienceSome 20 some years ago, my ex and I hosted some hitchhikers from Australia and we had a blast. I taught them how to leg wrestle and caught a hiking boot in the face, totally my fault, hurt like heck but laughed about it anyway. About a year later some friends of theirs looked us up and stayed for a few days as well, again, good time was had by all. We both thought that was the greatest idea, the travelers offered to host us if we ever made it to Australia but it never happened. We sure have some good memories.
More recently I traveled to Ireland and it was one of the greatest experiences of my life!! My hosts were all the best people and I can only hope that I am lucky enough to host them right back! The surfers I have had have been extraordinary folks as well!. I am looking forward to hosting as many travelers as would want to visit my desolate location!InterestsI am interested in traveling some more, seeing new places and meeting new people.PhilosophyContribute to life, don't just take from it. I strive to be a kind person, humble, confident and well mannered, one who can dine with Kings or brown bag it on the sidewalk with the local Wine'O and feel just as comfortable doing either. Help all the people you can when you can because Karma is always watching and whatever you dish out comes back to you multiplied.Music, Movies, BooksThe Hobbit and The Lord of the Rings!!! The books have been favorites of mine since high school when I could curl up with one and be a hobbit for the day. The movies were great to but really left out a lot of important details. I don't have much time for reading anything outside material for work these days and I miss it. Occasionally I'll read novels by Nora Roberts or Tom Clancey.
I enjoy most music, probably old rock n roll the most, country too; Opera and Rap...not so much, but will listen to most anythingTypes of People I enjoyMost everybody. I love listening to other people's stories! Old folks are great and they tell the best tales. Teach, Learn, ShareI can offer a surfer a warm comfortable stay at my home, feed them well and tell them about the history and conflicts of this area. I have been told I am a good cook and would be willing to share my knowledge while hosting as well as surfing. I would certainly cook, clean or help out in anyway I could while I am priviledged to stay with a host. One Amazing Thing I've Seen or DoneI was a long-haul trucker for many years. I have seen a million sunrises and sunsets and never tired of looking at them. I've slept on a beach or two; skied downhill and cross-country; went scuba-diving in the Bahamas; hiked in the mountains, been on trail rides and slept under the stars. There is very little I don't like about nature. Most amazing though is that I have witnessed the birth of my grandchildren, watched them grow and never tire of their company...even when I have all 5 at once! I share my experiences with them and hope they will learn from mine.
Opinion on the CouchSurfing.org ProjectI think that the concept of couch surfing is amazing! The website is full of helpful tips. I can explore the site for hours! Now that I have had the opportunity to surf a couch or 2 I can say that staying in a stuffy old motel will never suit me again. I have had a fantastic time meeting new people, getting to know them and look forward to opening my home to my new surfer friends as well. Hats off to all the CS folks!Locations Traveled
What do these numbers mean?
This summary is not a replacement for reading references; it's a quick summary to help you get started. At a glance, you can see how many references a member has, and how many of them are positive, neutral, and negative.
In the second line, you'll see how many references came from people who hosted this member, surfed with them, and traveled with them. These numbers won't always add up to the total: some references are not categorized, and some may be categorized as more than one thing.
When viewing this summary, don't jump to conclusions! Things that are negative for one person may be positive for another, and vice versa. It's important to read references carefully and evaluate what that information means to you. References (10)10Positive 0Neutral 0Negative

From Daniel Brettschneider Washington, United States Sep 1, 2011 Positive What a great way to start a CS trip! Pam has plenty of room if you catch her between kids (her own & fosters) and I'm sure there is still room even in a full house. She's got a view you can't beat and knows everyone in town. Make sure to join her for a drink at the local bars for an experience you won't forget anytime soon. Pam's got great stories, a great attitude, and a great home. Make a point on your trip to make sure she's on your way.
From MOONRORY Montpellier, France Jul 20, 2011 Positive Even though I didn't have much time to get to know Pam, she is really nice person. She had her grand children at home and it was fun !
Thank you Pam
From Simple-Simon Dublin, Ireland (Republic of) Oct 18, 2010 Positive Although Pam never couchsurfed with me, we got to spend some quality time together in both Dublin where Pam tried her first (And possibly last!) pint of Guiness and again in Akahista where by coincidence Pam had arranged to stay at Jean's the same time as I was there. We had some interesting discussions together and we could have talked for hours more. I'm definately going to South Dakota to see you Pam if I ever get back to America, Promise!
From John Parsons Parsippany, United States Oct 11, 2010 Positive Had a fantastic time with Pamela! We met while surfing with IRISHCALYPSO in Tramore, Ireland, then took off on a journey the following day, checking out the Copper Coast as well the Blarney Castle. Pam is fun company and filled with a lot of great stories.
From IRISHCALYPSO Waterford, Ireland (Republic of) Oct 11, 2010 Positive Pamela - only one night but it felt like ages, wish it could have been longer. What a great person, if you are lucky enough to meet her make sure you do! There's not enough room here to describe all her attributes, she's simply FANTASTIC! Now to defrost some of that delicious sausage surprise you made :)
From Keiffy Bear Armagh, Northern Ireland Sep 4, 2010 Positive pam was my 1st surfer, and may i add a fantastic lady. there will always be special memories in our heart of this american dream, and a home here should she ever need one, brilliant laugh and superb stories. children loved her.look forward to your return should you ever be our way, thank you pam you a lady in a million, and your heart is in the right place,
From Enigmatika Vic, Spain Sep 2, 2010 Positive Pam is awsome. She is joyfull and friendly and open person easy to connect with. She is understanding and offers great hospitality. We felt very wellcome at her house, has dinner together, talked and shared funny stories. She is a great host and i am sure a great guest. We look forward to see her again maybe in Europe.
From GLOBETOUR Oris, Spain Sep 1, 2010 Positive Pamela is new in CS but she has hospitality in her heard. She host us wonderfully. We could see inside the court while she was working of attorney during the trials. Later we could relax and work at her office. And at her house we had great conversations and even I could drive on the countryside the four weeler she has. I hope she would find the same hospitality she gave us during her travel in Ireland.
From Jeroen Komen Vleuten, Netherlands Jul 11, 2010 Positive Pamela didn't only share her house, but also so much of her knowledge on the area (with a mix of natives and americans). I felt at home straight away. Great place kind of in the middle of nowhere, to experience country style South Dakota as an insider. After you have been here, it makes no sense anymore to think that the Corn Palace represents South Dakota.
