What an action packed 4 days! I'd recommend anyone to cs with Patrick. Generous and with a mean set of pipes for Noraebang, we DJed in to the night, went hiking, ate with a monk, drank soju and hof, and generally had an awesome time. He's one hell of a tour guide and a true gentleman!

I must have gone to Donghae to meet Patrick! I surfed Patrick's couch for a couple of nights and it was a great experience. God knows what took me to Donghae on a 11 day trip to South Korea! Patrick was a very generous host and he made sure I enjoyed the time I was there. We went to a beach, partyed korean style, played basketball, went sightseeing, went to his school, I was a part of the class and all this in less than 2 days! (By the way,he's the only person who made me drink as much as I did the other day). Thank you Patrick, I had a really nice time ;) I wish everyone had a person like him around. Hope to see you again in India or somewhere else in the world Patrick.

Patrick really went out of his way to make my one-night stay with him a full and enjoyable one. He took me out to the beautiful Mureung Valley for a great hike, and really was concerned that I had everything I needed during my stay. Thanks Patrick!

Patrick is a wonderful, wacky guy who will make you laugh and look at everything in wonder...He is gentle, intelligent and great fun to be around, exuding warmth and happiness yet he is capable of deep and serious conversations if need be, and at the same time be able to flit off onto fulfilled adventures at the drop of a hat, and make it all magically happen...he is someone we had a great time hosting, discussing CS and life with and rearranging parts of my new home with and spending time discovering parts of Pune with Meher, Sheila, Susan and the wonderful Belgian couple.

althouth we couldn't talk too much eachother at the camp, but it was a great camping and really good experince for me. moreover, your singing with a guitar was very good too. ^^

 

We had a great Noribang night with Patrick and his ex-vice principal then a mad camping weekend next to Wontong with even more CS!

Wonderful heart! Sharing the love all over the place!

Patrick is the genious behind the CS 3M Meetup this past weekend in Donghae! Over a dozen CS'ers and I enjoyed a fun filled weekend because of Patrick. I showed up early and he let me surf his couch for one night.
He is a great person to meet and party with, especially when it comes to hitchhiking!

 

After organizing a meet in the distant and muddy lands of Boryeong, we met up a few times and had a good time. Definately a positive influence in the world of CS!

Patrick is a great host, has a very comfortable couch and goes out of his way to help you. He taught me some Korean social skills, gave me directions to some fantastic places and people to meet, including his school which was my chance for 60s of fame...

 

Patrick's a goofball, but a loveable, endearing one at that. He's a lot of fun and shows great passion for the CS Project. He's been a great help with CS-related stuff, and I look forward to getting to know him better.

patrick has more positive energy than the northern pole of super electro-magnet. i had a great time dishing out free hugs with him to the happily unsuspecting koreans.

Patrick is an exceedingly trusting, kind, outgoing and friendly guy! Also a good drinker ^^

Literally I cannot stop laughing at the "deep" conversations had over breakfast. And that was only about 15 minutes of the time I spent with him. So draw your own conclusions, but my cliche reference is this:

Patrick is a strong supporter of couchsurfing and all it entails. He's helped me regain faith in the program. Plus he can boat-jack and boat, and drink soju out of my purse.

Patrick is wonderful! He welcomed me right into the community when I first joined and is a very warm, fun, and open person.

Patrick and I apt swapped for a weekend but had the chance to randomly meet the weekend before in Busan. He is an awesome person that has really inspired me to travel more and couchsurd, plus he is SO much fun! I'm really glad to have met him.

Patrick was my first guest in my new house, and it was really enjoyable and interesting to have a dinner and drink together. Patrick is a awesome soul and super energetic guy. We met first in High school when I spend a year as a exchange student on PEI in the year 1999. We became good friends and he never missed a chance visiting me in Germany. I had the chants to come back to Canada this year where we meet up again to spend some awesome time on a trip to Toronto, Ottawa, Montreal,...
He was the one introducing me to CS which was on of the best things happening to me in a long time. He lives a true CS style life, he spreads the spirit to every one and every buddy.

Patrick! Awesome!! When I met him in Hakata we went for kurukuruzuC ,he put lots of `WASABI' then took some! So funny! Then moved to Japanese Inn and joined the BR carnival at night time, it was really fun. Drinking and dancing together^^ From the next day, I hosted him, so glad to have him. On Japanese new year, we celebrated it with huge sushi, of course he used plenty of wasabi^^. Sightseeing, temples, meditation, conversations with eating and drinking, everything was great! Patrick, my crazy chaos traveller! :P
To me, he is the personification of the couchsurfing spirit!
A spontaneous meeting when he was close to Heidelberg ended some amazing days later, including sightseeing in the pouring rain and travelling together (+ Corona, the adorable pug) to visit Sebastian. Hilarious!
We instantaneously became friends. So much fun to have his company! He rocks big time!

But there is so much more about this genuine, warm guy who brings a big smile to my face every time we talk...I've only scratched the surface so far and truly hope to get a lot of chances to dig deeper. This story is to be continued! Big hug!

Update: Three months later, a flight to Germany, Patrick on board! And finally my chance to dig deeper and to discover how smart, sincere, sensitive and passionate he is and how big his heart :)
A trip to Spain full of crazy adventures, amazing moments of synchronicity and beautiful, memorable experiences. An incredible week-end in Paris and the Normandy! And more trips to come! I can't imagine a better friend and travelling partner than him! HAPPY TIMES!!!!!

PS: His couch in Korea is great. Definitely worth a visit or three!

 

Patrick is an amazing person! He has so many stories of his travels, and he sees the world in a very positive way! He is up for anything and a very good conversationalist.
Since first meeting Patrick we have formed a wonderful friendship! My last year in Korea would've been very boring without meeting up with this character every now and then! Very interesting person! If you are lucky you can hear him singing and playing guitar, you can see him writing his book, you can have inspiring talks and a nice company to drink korean beer. I was lucky!:D

This bomb of energy exploded when he joined CS group at Manu Chao's show in Quebec city! He arrived and boosted us with his positive energy! We all went dancing (and drinking!). I am glad I finally met Patrick, I heard a lot about him... He is energetic (did I mention that before?) funny, like minded... It was a blast to Party together at Burning Man 07! oh, and he had a great couch (hospitality) in PEI, I bet its the same in Donghae!

 

Patrick first contacted me: I was unfortunately unable to host him. But Jean-Baptiste could do it, and I had the luck to meet THE great Patrick, himself!!

He brought me a new vision on the Couchsurfing project, which made me more eager to host new people. He was not afraid of the snow for running to visit temples, and not afraid to get up at 7 for some Zen meditation, sitting in the cold wind for a little hour.

I hardly know where Donghae is, but for sure, I will be there next September. Don't forget to watch his videos on his youtube page: you may learn a lot of things. Did you know that Allen Collins was born in Jacksonville, FL?

Patriiiiiiick! As the Eminent Sea Cucumber would approve, we had both great time in Kyoto thanks to the other. I was very glad to have him at my place, our nights were chotto delayed toward the morning but it didn't prevent us to admire the beautiful snow on the temple roofs, on the mountains and between our frozen toes.
He gave us CSers in Kyoto some good pieces of advice about CS, and I think I learnt a lot by listening to his life experience and positive philosophy.

Canadian, beerfest-addicted maniac who made it to the CS party in Heidelberg.

 

He embodies the Couchsufing spirit, in my experience with him he is very open, approachable and helpful.

Patrick is some guy. He is smart, fun, passionate about couchsurfing and he has one of the biggest hearts I've ever seen.
We had lots of good time in the museum of nature and hanging out with him is just simply a pleasure.

He and Dave went couchsurfing at my place during a hitchicking trip. They are the nicest guys I could meet in a snowstorm. My best Cs experience, because so much things happened! Very deep people, nice to talk to. Don't miss the opportunity tp meet them, they warm your heart better than a chiken soup. :)

Patrick is such an avid couchsurfer and knows everything about it... we met up for some beers at Pub Italia, had a great time there with other CSers and then started a new fad called car surfing... ie, fitting as many people into a car as possible... it'll catch on Patrick, I know it!

Patrick is a perfect example of a couchsurfer: he gives as much as he can, enjoys his time, develops great connections, and is always ready for new things. Ive enjoyed the many opportunities Ive had to interact with patrick, and I expect to keep learning from him the important life lessons he always leaves behind.

[update] Visited this crazy guy in Hamilton, for a great time and great friends. Oficially, we were surfing the same couch at the same time for he was being hosted by a great couple.

[update] Received patrick a few times in Ottawa. We keep being his pit stop/resting area/healing place/partying spot. Good thing he always comes with gifts to repay for the mess he leaves :)

[update] Travelled together to Burning Man. They say that after such an intense experience people either end up loving each other or hating each other. Im positive we dont hate him, but we're sure as hell dont love him either :D

Patrick is so nice, funny and warm that the first time we spoke he brightened my entire day! In the few next conversations, we made a deal to get marry (he only needs to eat a scorpion and i need to climb Mount Kilimandjaro before!) He's the owner of PEI's best couch and i had an amazing time in his compagny in Québec city and on PEI. He's man enough to admit that i kicked his ass (okay maybe not... i won with one point) for 9 holes of mini-putt and helped to check few things of my life's to do list. See you in september!

Patrick and I were supposed to meet in Granada but ended up somehow meeting by accident in Nerja 100km away! He is crazy, fun loving,good natured guy and an excellent ambassador. After attacking me on a park bench and stealing my toothpaste we managed to eat too much fish so we held up the restaurant with a pigs leg!
The day ended in a noisy flamenco bar with mucho guitar playing Olé olé. If you dont have fun when patrick is around, you're already dead!

 

I know Patrick until only from the Ambassador Groups and was very happy, when i saw his posting, he wanna come to Frankfurt. So i offered him to stay at my place and show him the surring area. We had a very great evening at a Phill Collins/Genesis Concert in the Dompark in Speyer and i think he will never forget to drink 2x1.0 Liter Beer glases! Unfortnetly he was only so short time in Germany and his trip, that it wasnt possible to show him much more nice sights in the area and i hope he will come back for longer time! Great guest, great CS Member with the addicted spirit like me! Welcome back next time again!
Update: Patrick joined again my area and we met at the Heidelberg CS Rhein-Neckar Meeting at Dianas Place in September 2007. It seems now he is totally addicted Octoberfests and 1 Liter beer mugs! I bet you cant drink not anymore a smaller beer!

We spent a few days and nights trawling through heidelberg and mannheim drinking and exploring. We went for a few hours long hike to an old church at the top of a hill just outside the city. Instead of taking the trails we went straight up the side of the hill. Needless to say it took a little less time getting back down that way!

Patrick is a great guy, fun to hang out with, have a couple of beers( coke or juice for me ;) ) with and talk about BBQ and the world.

Crazy adventurer who has many stories to tell. While staying at my place he decided to sleep on top of mount Pilatus (2300m) in Switzerland in a jumper with temperatures around -5 instead of sleeping on the warm couch ;-)

I met Patrick at the Festival d'été de Québec and he was so enthusiastic!

I met Patrick because he was visited the couchsurfers who were hosting me at the same time (Ale y Dani, Ottawa). As they were all packing to go to the Burning man festival, we spent some fun time together making bracelets for this great festival while drinking beers and talking. Can seem like a strange situation, but it was in reality a lot of fun!! Patrick is a reallu funny guy and very interesting! Great couchsurfer!

To describe the immense fun to be had with this crazy hitchhiking vagabond would simply not do him justice. ...you would of had to of been there in the middle of the desert, fire and lights all around, to really know. Patrick is a fun-loving free spirit who was a great reminder as to why I couch surf, why I try to live in the moment, and why it's good to sometimes just close your eyes, jump, and fly! With that said, safe journeys new friend.

 

Patrick and I have gotten to know each other over the years and have tried to meet up several times and just recently we were successful! It was a pleasure to finally meet him in dusty Black Rock City. He was just as I expected him to be... a warmly genuine explorer with a huge heart. This is the kind of guy I would love to go on a long road trip with. There is no end to his positivity and excitement for this world. I can't wait to meet up with him again sometime soon! Patrick rocks so much!

 

He hitchhiked from PEI. He met an Indian man who gave HIM $20. I picked him up on a street corner. What part of this doesn't sound like the most amazing of all human stories? High-energy, vibrant, and the only person I know who still shamelessly quotes "White Snake". Definitely the most memorable of my surfing experience...a title that may hold for some time. I hope to see you and Venie back in the D or in PEI, real soon!

Although it was only a brief meeting, it was enough time for me to realize what a friendly, outgoing and engaging kind of guy Pat is. Even thought he's busy as hell he finds the time to pick me up from the bridge. Show me his beautiful province and friends. Lend me his car. squesse in a game a golf. and even take to to my next stop on my journey. So far he ranks up in the top of all the hosts I've ever had.

Due to the inevitable misfortune of not being able to board my scheduled which had been full because of the passenger transfer over from a previous cancelled flight, I was not able to meet with Patrick and commence on our exciting escapade :(... I know it'll be very soon till we finally make ends meet. I still haven't forgotten about you, buddy!

I finally met Patrick and I'm sure he was pretty stoked when he saw our Spaceship van pull into his driveway. What a freakin' cool guy! Got me back into drinking, slightly... yeah, slightly :S

i was a lonely backpacker in frankfurt with no idea of what i was doing. patrick approached me, introduced himself and me to couch surfing, and told me it would change my life. at first i thought he was crazy but he was totally right! we surfed together for a few days and i've been hooked ever since! patrick is such an enthusiastic, genuine guy and i owe it to him that i'm having such wonderful experiences! thanks, patrick!

 

Patrick and I got along right from the get-go. He's free in so many ways, free to think, to travel, to steal shopping carts. I admire his hitchhiking ability and how tall he is. I hope to see him again, maybe when/if he comes to visit boston! Always welcome!

Pat is one of those guys, that upon meeting, you realize you would never have been the same if you hadn't. He is a real jewel. He can light a room and even your darkest mood. When you think he's given all he's got....surprisingly he has more. I wish there were more creatures in the world like him, though I guess that's why he's a rarity. He loves LIFE and therefore LIVES it. I can accredit him with giving me the first shove into branching out and exploring. Though it was always in my nature, Patrick was a key element in sending me on my way. I have loads of hearts for him.

 

Pat came down for a weekend visit and Halifax CS meeting. We quickly found out that we share a common love, being wild and crazy. Pat is a fantastic person who I'll let sleep on my couch anytime he wants.

What a great guy! He took me all around Prince Edward Island, fed me great pasta, introduced me to some of his lovely friends, gave me a bed to sleep on, taught me alot about the couchsurfing website, shared alot of interesting experiences, travels and thoughts from his own life, drove me all over his province, played music for me, showed me some lovely architecture, let me sleep in, and is a really considerate person. I feel totally privileged to have spontaneously met this kind chap.... it's funny how stuff happens eh?

Patrick is a fantastic person, im very lucky to call him friend! Never a dull moment.
We didnt meet on CS but I cant thank him enough! Im so happy he introduced me to the world of Couch Surfing.

I must say something... Although I can not find words that are just and properly discribe my time spent with Patrick; I can say that he stands out as one of the above average hosts that you'll find. He kindly without compunction whatsoever performed as an excellent week long host and tour guide for me. Whilst living in the basement of his parents home he gave almost every minute of his day to me. I am very grateful to him and would really recommend a stay with Patrick at his home in PEI.

 

Patrick has one of the most bubbling personalities on planet Earth...Naturally affectionate, fun, postive and caring who certainly enjoys having people around him...We had a wonderful breakfast together along with 3 other CouchSurfers who happend to be in Toronto..One from France, 2 from Hungary...It will go down as one of the most memorable breakfasts of my life...Thanks Patrick, you are so kind-hearted and selfless...I enjoyed your compansionhip, friendly dispositon and good sense of humor...You are definitely a winner in my books...Hope to meet again...

Patrick is a real ambassador! He has taken the decision of promoting his homeland in a great way! He is such a helpful and nice guy indeed.

He is the one to know in PEI!

 

Amazing guy, so full of energy and stories to tell...great to meet someone that can talk about Venezuela so eloquently...PEI is for sure in my list of places to go!

 

Patrick is like the energizer rabbit! You think he's on some energetic high but he just keeps on going, and eventually you figure out that it's his normal disposition. Enthusiastic-hyper-interesting-super-social-party-animal type of dude with whom I can't wait to hang out again!

 

What an insanely good guy!! Patrick is all about good energy and vibes. he can dance his socks off and is equally fun to be around. I hosted him and Sebastian and we never had a boring moment, the time spent with patrick was very memorable and i think there may even be pictures of the Toronto/Montreal trip:) Come back soon Patrick!!

Patick is a very funny guy with a great vibe! He dances like a mad-man and certainly knows how to par-tay! Had a great time meeting him, hope to see him again soon!

Patrick is a super fun energetic guy. He knows how to get a party going on. He and his friend Sebastian arrived after a long 14 hour drive and were still wide awake and ready to party. and what a fun time that was... from the green fairy to the Super-trained-german-running-like-a-monkey-in-boxers. I have waited to long..... to write this reference, so I hope that a few paragraphs can make up for it. First met Patrick on a train down to the Devil's Nose in Alausi, Ecuador last October...
Ended up travelling with him for a week, through Peru and Ecuador. We had awesome times together, from meeting weird people in Lima...no need name names ;), to having seriously rocking times in Pisco, Peru on Halloween night!! I have the pics to prove it!!
We are for sure gonna hook up in Africa next year.
If it wasnt for him, I would never have gotten to know CS, and would never have met so many cool people and would never have had so many amazing experiences!

Patrick is the one who introduced me to couch surfing. He's a great guy and someone you feel comfortable around immediately. We've had some great times and he's always there to inspire me to live my dreams and yet yank me back to reality when I've gone too far. :) I visited him in Korea and he was very helpful with showing me around, providing maps, suggesting itineraries and English/Korean translations. I toured his school met teachers and students, and had great nights out drinking soju with his friends.

This man truly is a CS ambassodor, he was passing through Halifax during a little "patrick time" and dropped me a line just for the sake of meeting another couchsurfer. The next thing I knew patrick was on the phone telling me he'd just found out his guitar neck had snapped but instead of dwelling on it, he came and picked me up then introduced me to some other folks and we all went for a beer and a good time.

 

Patrick was an amazingly great host! He even took the day to show me around PEI, and wow does he know PEI like the back of his hand showing me all kinds places I never would have seen or found on my own. I met his family too and they were just as kind and generous and wonderful to chat with. The guy even made me pancakes! I can't imagine anyone more generous with their time and knowledge than Patrick was.

I've known Patrick for a few years. We meet at school and we share similar interests. By complete coincidence we ran into each other at a hostel in Amsterdam in Sept 2004. Patrick was heading to Findland to attand school and i was travelling around Europe. We ended up hanging out for all our time in Amsterdam and had a great time....'oh the memories.'

Although we asked Patrick one day before thanksgiving for a "typical canadian thanksgiving dinner" he managed to surprise all three of us with a delicious meal :-) thanks a lot for the great experience and for my one and only sunset in canada!!It's a pity that time goes by so fast and we couldn't spend more time together.

Wondeful person. Patrick is one of the most wonderful guys I ever met. When I hosted him, I though it´s going to be like the others, but then with his crazy way , he makes me like him a lot. Nice person, inteligent, nice friend ... he´s a very good person. That one u can trust and always call when u need some help. jejejejejej! He just need to pay more attention to not sleep at the beach again for not getting rob. jejejejejej!

He hosted me also in my trip to Canada ... we had a very nice time and I really loved to met all the maritimes with him! He helped me also to get away of my feelings , I was recently break up at that moment ! Thanks a lot my friend!

He's a worldly guy who will gladly share his local experiences with anyone who stays with him. We've had many an adventure from skydiving, running a business and repairing lawn mowers.

Patrick is a great guy, and a good friend. While we don't see each other very often, we are of a similar travelling spirit, and our paths cross at the best of times!

 

Met Patrick on top of a train (literally), in southern Ecuador. We ended up traveling together for a week and had a wild time. Good memories. Dont forget our Africa trip we have planned for the future!

Words are not enough!! Patrick Patrick Patrick! Everyday i thanks the world for had the pleasure to met him! And i mean it! Coz of him, i´m here: CS ambassador right now! Coz of him, i met soooo amazing ppl in the last 6 months. Coz of him, i can say now that the world is really smaller than i think. And coz of him, the world came to my life, even if i couldnt travel. He is the guilt guy! In the best away! :D He was the first CS surfer that i had the pleasure of hosting at my place, and it couldnt be a better way to start. We had a great time together, and all i can say that it wasnt enough! He definitily need to come back, specially to enjoy carnival! He is a special person and so sensitive. Dont hesitate to have him in your place, if u have the chance! Or go see him in PEI (but make sure that he is around first) :) Patrick is the one that will be ALWAYS welcome, wherever i am. Derek Augusto. He´s a very nice guy. I´m gonna miss him a lot. I can´t wait til he gets back. he has stayed in my house for three days. My family and I liked him very much. He´s really trustworthy.. "Hey Patrick, Don´t forget your brazilian buddy ok?;;;

My new friend :D. Patrick accomodated last night in PEI. I wasn't sure I had time and money to make the travel by car from Halifax to Kensington, and he's the one who said: 'come on! don't miss that!'
So in PEI I came, and as soon as I told him I was in his town, I picked me up and we were gone for a tour of the island!
After that, we had a dinner at his dad's place, who treated me like a king: 3 lobsters and I-don't-know-how-many-pounds of mussels! That was great, it's something I really appreciated and I'll never forget.
Patrick made his schedule clear so he could bring me around (often with his own car so I can enjoy the scenery), and on the second day we went to the tip of the island.
From the beginning, Patrick gave me a lot of help to prepare my trip, and PEI is a great place!
I mean, if you have to trust someone for your trip in PEI, ask Patrick ;-)

 

I should have stayed longer :-). I had very much fun with Patrick. He took a lot of time and drove me to many wonderful spots on the beautiful Prince Edward Island. Plus he prepared some very yummy breakfasts. We also went for a bike ride, to a gym, a scottish music concert, almost on a canoe trip (didn't work out because of low tide) and he introduced me to his family and some of his friends. All of that in just four days! He also picked me up and returned me to the bus depot and I could use his washing machine, TV-recorder and his internet connection. And then some. I'm very impressed by his hospitality as well as his approach to life and the world.
