About Me

THE SLOW HOUSE ON K ST
=======================================
(the Slow House is slowing down on surfers for the winter because of other commitments. We can only host people in the month of December because we leave for the holidays and I'll be on the road for all of Jan. But if you feel like you absolutely belong in this place, shoot me a request. I'm always looking for Fellow Travelers, scientists, thespians & other passionate freaks)

"We are here on Earth to fart around. Don't let anybody tell you differently"
- Vonnegut

ABOUT US
a laidback couchsurfing oasis in Brooklyn,
come & go as you please.
don't mind me, I just work here.
(but even with 8 beds in the living room, I still have to say no to most requests. it's a busy city & the Slow House fills up fast)

Roomie & References:
When leaving references for the Slow House,
start with leaving one for my roommate Kat because she needs some for traveling:

Me, Lex:
After five years on the road, I'm digging into my writing cave and working on my first book. It's a graphic novel about cannabis & the human endocannabinoid system (though mostly it's about why most of our Grandmas should be ingesting cannabis for their health) Here's a sample chapter about a dispensary owner & the rise of California's medical scene:

I just finished up two years of research on cannabis and now I have two years of writing ahead.
Will I be able to land this whale of a book?
I dunno but you have to do something until you die.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I host. I surf. I enjoy it every time.

EXPERIENCE

I started hosting in Mumbai and met some pretty cool characters who wanted to check out the apartment in the slums that I shared with my sister. When I hitched around the States, I met some lifelong friends using CS. I found an apartment in Mexico & even met a girlfriend who took me to Capetown for awhile. Now it's time for me to give back to Couchsurfing for all the twisted adventures and overflowing kindness that I found out on the road.

I also got my parents into the project so if you're traveling through Lancaster, PA, look up Ned Pelger.

Interests

books (especially science, graphic novels, children's books & the autobiographies of the Great Thinkers)
evolutionary biology
old movies
psychedelic drugs (focus on intentional use - see Shulgin)

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I spent a couple of months walking across northern India with hundreds of Tibetan monks, nuns and laypeople in a protest march. If you've never seen monks playing cricket in red robes and splashing in streams like kids, it's a sight to be seen. We got arrested a few times and they finally deported me and the other Westerners so they could shut down the march as it neared the border. So it goes.
