Anick-Marie Bouchard

That was a nomad person like U I needed to meet at this period of my life!!Wonderful shared moments;I like the way we were relaxed from the begining of our meeting!!
And remember:the next time you'll come, do not forget to rince the dishes!!!

She just slept one night at my home but we had a good time. She's an interesting women and we had a nice talk about travels and her hitchicking experience. We'll keep in touch, sure !

In CouchSurfing you almost give for granted that you are going to find open, interesting and honest people, but the truth is, as satisfactory as these experiences often are, only in rare occasions you truly connect with another human being, that is to say, when you can express openly what you think and feel, and see comprehension and affection in the other person's eyes. That's how I felt with Anick, definitely one of the persons I have met in CS who most deeply touches the people she meets and also someone who in my opinion is quite beyond prejudices, social "rules" or self-imposed restrictions, which makes her very interesting :)

 

I knew of Anick by reputation and then bumped into her by chance in Tabi's place in A Coruna.

For one woman she is some woman. A lone traveler of some experience, her commitment to various projects is amazing to me.

Vic and I spent a day (and night) walking around A Coruna with her and a local CSer, Javier. She managed a few beers (**smile**) and was really good craic, whilst full of knowledge about things of language and culture. A truly international soul.

Last seen on a road with a sign to continue the hitching/surfing adventure most only dream of ... rock on woman! InJoy.

Anick was a great guest. I mean, she's a natural girl, you feel comfortable in her company.I'm really impress by her way of life, she always have something interesting to say, so we had great discussions about CS, languages, life,... See you somewhere!

Wonderful, lovely, charming, polite and openminded young woman, with a very special and very good sense of life. It was a very good pleasure to meet such a kind woman, with a so beautiful and amazing life experience! It was an honour to have Anick in my special group of good friends. You are welcome always in Porto, and you know you have a couch, always too.

It would be impossible for me not to leave you a reference. You did a great conference on CS safety, shared so many stories and helped me see things a bit differently about my fears. I LOVED talking to you. It was such a great pleasure :) I hope you get your book published soon so I can have a little bit of who you are in my home all the time :) And maybe someday I'll have the guts to try some of the stuff you do everyday :)) Beijinhos!

I knew marie on the 50 meetingdinner in the oporto, which I have the pleasure to know her and to hear her talk about the system and safety standards of the cs. I really enjoyed his personality, a very fun person always full of funny situations to share with us.

 

We met first in working on a common task but unless we are different in almost any aspect you can imagine, we have a very nice common feeling and i feel involved in her well being. You are representing a total new aspect in friendship for me Anick-Marie, thanks for that.

Anick is a very positive person full of energy.

We had very interesting chats with her about her adventurous Turkey visits.

The meetings we met, either she was really bussy (Vienna Calling 2009), or i was really bussy (Midsummernight) ;-). From the moments we did get a chance to talk I know that she is even more of a CS addict than me ;-), with lots of passion. Now that she will be in Groning for a longer period i'm sure we will meet more often and get a chance to chat more.

Anick met us for an afternoon which extended itself into summer Thai rolls, dinner and couchsurfing. Interesting stories, talks and perspectives on travel.

During midsummernight I was too busy to really get to know Anick-Marie. The overall impression she left was of being really devoted to couchsurfing and the heart in the right place. Cool that you're in Groningen now, I'm sure I will be able to update this reference soon :)

She was my guest for one night when she came to attend some CS-meetings in Jena/Weimar.

Anick-Marie is one of those CS-ers which I would never reject to host if hosting is somehow possible. She has a very engaged nature and tries actively to make the world a better place. The special about her is that she tries to implement this vision in *everything* what she is doing. She is an extremely responsible and thinking person. Beside that it impressed me that she is incredibly educated. Regardless about what we were talking - she had some knowledge or experience on it, and most often some some very unusual sort of. I enjoyed very much to host her and her ideas and thoughts.

I hate writing references! OK, basically. Anick was nothing short of amazing. Her dedication to couchsurfing, and her friends is something to be admired and love basically she is: Focused. Giving. Kind. Outgoing. Generous. Friendly. Honest. Funny. Smiley. Smart. Capable.

Anick-Marie was one of the people I met in CS dinner @ Groningen - and one of the most talkative ones. It was amazing to hear all the stories she can tell about CS and different experiences, about her hitchhiking adventures etc. I believe she is a person who can settle in any place very easily and make everybody feel that she has been there for a long time - great skills, I admire that! Be sure that you won't be bored when you'll meet her!

 

We met at the Berlin CS Safety meeting in June. As a teacher myself I appreciate her way of explaining issues to us in a calm, patient and enthusiastic way. To remind you: I was the one who did not like to ask so much in English, Koolkarma translated. Later at the table we talked a little before I left to meet the first CS FAMILY who was my guest(s). Thank you for teaching us in Berlin.

 

I met her first at the Swiss Paella 2009, then at the Bremen-Groningen-Invasion 2009 and we hosted her in Hameln. She´s a very friendly girl and works a lot on CS.

We met on a urban exploration workshop. Then I keep meeting her with some new projects in mind. Every new thing I learn from/about her amazes me. Life coincidences seem have given us some quests and roads in commun. Also I'll not be surprized to meet her this summer in te deeps of an ukrainian forest, as I will be reaching for groups of nude and hairy hippies. Ugh! No, hairy, she's not!
Hope to get to know more from her. My feeling is that woman has expierences of thousand lives!

Anick-Marie surfed our couch before and during the Vienna Calling. Despite us having to work we had the opportunity to spend some nice evenings together, cooked, ate, talked and had a very enjoyable time :c) Anick-Marie is welcome on our couch anytime again. It was a pleasure meeting her!

She's on the trail for 7 years in a row, i envy her!:P

 

Anick stayed at my place during the Vienna Calling event, even though our schedules were pretty different(organizing, work etc etc) I found her to be a communicative and interesting person. She might be a Global Amb, but she still has her feet still firmly on the ground, my kind of surfer:D.. Enjoy the summer!

Anick-Marie is a very considerate, independent, friendly and gorgeous couchsurfer.

I was very busy when she surfed our couch, while she had lots of people to meet and work to do herself.

Yet she simply took the time to spend a bit of those days with us and at least i enjoyed our discussions.

Given the size of the world (village) and the activity of Anick (bustling) i assume we can't avoid meeting again sometime (hopefully not in the morning) and i look forward to it.

 

I had the pleasure to meet Anick during Vienna Calling 2009 event. Her public presentation and private advices were very helpful for me and now I know a little bit how things work behind the scene in CS and GOD how complex they are. Like for many other members of our nice community Anick was one of my new great encounter irl after many months with only a virtual relationship. She's bubly, sweet but also a source of knowledge for me. Like me, she's "on the road" so "c u someday somewhere"

Anick was the one to answer when i needed a mate to hitchhike to the Berlin Beach Camp. She is a beautiful person, open-minded, calm and brave, self-confident with a clear point of view. Able to manage every and any situation i guess, i really enjoyed the time with her, touring through Prague few times by bus:) or walking in the rain around the gasstations:)) She has many things and ideas to give and teach and is eager to get and learn. I´m sure we´ĺl meet again, i´m looking forward, Anick. It was very nice to meet you! a big hug!!!

First I met Anick in Edinburgh and after that we met again in Istanbul. There are not enough positive adjetives to describe this amazing ambassador. I'm glad to be one of the lucky people that have had the chance to know her. All the best.

I can't believe I haven't given Anick a reference yet! Anick came to the CS translation collective we organized at my place Nov 08 and was very enthusiastic and helpful the short time she was here. She's really committed to the CS work!

 

Crazy. Courageous. Extraordinary. Nomadic. Organized. Spontaneous. Wanderer. Beautiful. Independent. Hyperactive. Full of thoughts. Energetic. Determined. Dreamer...... That's Anick!

 

Anick is a chocolate candy. At first there is the colorful wrapping- the beautiful smiles, the clothes she wears, her angel-like look, the way she smells and talks. Then comes the chocolate- the crazy, sweet, lovely stories, the way she hugs and kisses, the way she speaks, her sometimes sharp tongue, her clever mind. If you are the lucky one you can taste the nut inside- her heart, her feelings, her thoughts, the sadness and the laugh inside of her, the confusion and the clarity. I want to see all that. Next to her I feel I am cold, that I dont know how to open myself as much as I want. I hope to learn it from her. I know she could teach me a lot (and not only how to live without things and light packing :P). I adore her!!! I guess she has that effect to people! Huhh, you know how much I love chocolate, Anick! ;)

I was so lucky to land in that wonderful couchsurfing flat that Anick had set up in Edinburgh. Not only was the rent cheap, but the roommates were great. Anick was always there to cook for me, help me and support me when I needed someone to talk to. We even had those sisterly talks in the night before we fell asleep, and talking to her always made me feel understood and not so far from home. Thanks for everything!

 

Anick-Marie is a dreamer that living my dream; moreover she has a very strong stance on her position how she overviews the world we live in... She has a high intercultural awareness and has the ability to adapt quickly... We shared our experience and knowledge for a day. It was fascinating to spend time with her, and I liked every minute of it... She is very dedicated in CS... I believe I will meet her again soon...

 

We met in Istanbul and although we did not really have so much time together, i must admit that i liked Anick-Marie very much. She has so many powerful ideas and whether you agree with her or not, you will certainly accept her reasoning and motives. And in any event she is so open to discussion.

I am very glad i had the opportunity to get together with a person so devoted to the couchsurfing idea. She sure added much to my already excellent perception of the couchsurfing project.

Hope we get together again even though this may prove difficult. She travels all the time, but you never know. The planet is sooo small!

Anick Mary is a kind appearation, her presence to the concert, together with the other Edinburgians was beautiful, they gave us musicians a warm embrace of gently woven attention, such a friendly energy! A place I'll cherish for the lift it gave me, for a long time to come, thanks Anick!

Meeting you will change a lot in my life dear Anick-Marie but I don't know what they are yet. You'll be the first one to know, as they happen. En-joy life, as it opens itself in front of you, with all it's preciousness.

Anick-Marie has a great head and mind shape. She was hosted by my flatmates. We had lunch together and nice conversations about our points of view, pippa bacca, art projects and mutual friends: I found out through her that Joanna and Pascal, old friends of mine, are now Joanna, Pascal and Matteo! So happy to have had such a nice Hermes to bring me this bright news (which came in the middle of other bad news). Go on flying on your winged foot with your lightfull head! Hope to meet you again.

A model of kindness, friendly and talkative as a guest should be, but also a pillar of the Couchsurfing community. Anick claims she has "no time to work" and must be right according to the time she gives away for this website. Anick-Marie is a very impressive person.

I could just leave it like that. She is bright, clever and irrepressible- almost in a scary way, but she isn't scary

Few people have taken me at the face-value that is necessary, as she has; I hope I have the opportunity to speak with her much more in the future

After working together on CS and exchanging some skype talks, she finally came to my place, making a mini-collective for CS Translation Team. She's GREAT!!!! Awesome work times. She has a big heart and... is cooking very well, even without oven :-p

As we were working on CS website translations for a year, we finally met in Paris Mini-Collective. She's really a great active 'n positive volunteer... but also a big, noooo, a huge heart, as sensible as open!

Hi there Anick! I am glad i had the chance to meet you! thanks to your party i read some information about the places you have lived in, and therefore i grow reacher in my knowledge! It was interesting to be there in this particular moment of your life, when u are starting this new trip! I like the way you approach life, an i really think more people should think morea like you do...

I really enjoyed the live music, the new friends, and learning that pepperoni is not the same as peppers :P (new vocabulary is always welcomed)

to describe anick is quite easy: she is intense, but in a sweet way. she is very inteligent and lets say that she knows all about hitchhiking! made me feel at home while i was in edinburgh. all the best luck for you in your new trip!

 

She's quite an interesting person with a lot to say. We had a great time at the Subcrawl and Bill's Burns Night and I hope her all the best on her soon to come travels. I wish I could make her upcoming party..

Interesting girl, lots of views on lots of things, very good for having a conversation, and great for having at a party. Been a pleasure meeting her. Even when she is suffering from a bad cold she is still game for drinking whisky and staying up till the "wee small hours". I really enjoyed chatting to Annick and hope to catch up again soon.

Annick and her flatmates were so nice to host us for one day although they were quite busy. Annie works like mad! but we managed to meet briefly and speak spanish! I still find it amazing how people like her can be so friendly! Thanks a lot Annick! I hope I have the chance to meet you again somehow, somewhere ;)

UPDATE: We did meet again. And I hope it's not the last time. I had fun taking the piece out of the french with her. I just LOVE her sense of humor and her sweet accent in french. I just love her all-round.

 

I met Anick at a meeting Glasgow, she bounced around the meeting spreading her good feeling all day and its for people like her that i am a member of couch surfing and care so deeply about it, she reminded me of the European spirit of it i haven't felt since being back in Scotland and to be honest i cant speak highly enough of how i feel about her, lovely person and amazing asset to the couch surfing project, Anick has an honesty in her eyes that you cant ignore spend some time with her and your life will be the richer for it, that was my experience

 

Annick Marie hosted a friend and I for a whooping 7 days in her flat near Edinburgh. This was very generous of her to accomodate two tall guy in her already full apartment for such a long time! I'm sorry we took too much space and were a bit untidy, as Annick told us during a conversation on the last day of our stay. We should have watched ourselves more. At least, we learned a great deal from that experience, it's not going to happen again.

Anyway, apart from that, our stay was great, and I'm glad I met Annick because she's such an intersting person. Just start a conversation about anything that has to do with "community" and you're sure to go a long way ;) Thanks again for everything!

 

I stayed at Annick's place for a week with a friend of mine. Annick is very involved in the couchsurfing process and the community of Edinburgh, and she was willing to share her experiences and informations she thought could be useful to us: thanks to her, we were introduced to the Edinburgh community for the halloween party, then she directed us to a friend who became our next host in St-Andrews, she also showed us Edinburgh for a "local" perspective instead of from a tourist one, which was quite interesting. It was more than we could hope for, and I am very grateful for this.

Even though Jean-Gabriel and I tried to contribute to the life in the appartment, we probably took too much space in an already compact living area; sorry if those two tall guys were sometimes an annoyance!

 

The moment I met this wonderful crazy lady, I felt like I had known her for years! We talked non stop for hours and we both found ourselves to be somewhat hyperactive! Soon after we somehow became in engaged and have been fiancees ever since. I always love having her around and her energy and enthusiasm continually entertain and inspire me. The amount of work she does for Cs is amazing and I am so glad to have had the pleasure of her company in Edinburgh.
Anick- Your company will always be welcomed no matter where in the world I am :)

Anick really is the best representation of couch surfing. She takes you into her home, spends time with you showing you around the city and seriously she has more knowledge of Edinburgh than anyone else I know. She shows you all the fun pubs and clubs where to hang out, all the concerts and museums...And she has an army of cool cs (and other) friends for you to meet and enjoy.
And she helps you with your sorrows and heartache and covers you with warm blankets...is this starting to sound too much like Mother Teresa..? :)

Anick was a wonderful host and is a wonderful person. it was so nice having family dinners and having serious and meaningful conversations. An extremely generous host, especially considering everything she has on her plate. She has already lived so much and has very big plans for her future and I have no doubt she will attain them all

 

A-M is very energetic, and I am glad she took on the re-organisation of the CouchSurfing translation teams. She seems to be an organisation (and improvisation!) natural - and "empowering people" is not just a word. It's work, and hard work at that. I am thankful for myself and for CouchSurfing that she took it off my shoulder when I hadn't enough arms to even juggle my own life properly. Yup...
And personally: I really enjoyed the time we spent in that training salon getting our hair sized up, discussed, tackled and primped (not my kinda fancy leisure usually)... Under normal circumstances, it would have been dead boring and far too slow, but with A-M, each minute was worthwhile. Hope to meet up again at some point. Until then, eMail will have to fill the gap ;)

What can I say... I found a big sister, she's amazing and I'm very proud of her. I spent a month with her but I have the impression we know us a long long time ago. She's able to sharing all her stuff, always ready to help others, Annick is open mind, nice, funny, and have a lot of experience to share. You'll never be bored with her around. We just have super great time, did a lot of crazy things, laugh a lot, speak seriously,... If you meet her you'll be very lucky, and if you become her friend you can't imagine how lucky you are, and if you make her some trouble I'll kick your ass because she's my sister, and one of the most wonderful person I ever meet.

A lot of my friends were talking about Anick ... and that's true, she really got something special, i am glad to know her!

Changed my thoughts on Edinburgh forever!

I arrived now since one week on Anick flat and we become flatmate now for several months.
Anick is a very interesting person, sensitive, attentive to others, dynamic, open mind, and very nice.
If you can, I advice you to cross her road!
I am sure she will accomplish great things.

Anick-Marie is a part of my family I discovered in the middle of her teen age! At 18 years old, I rang to her door after finding her adress I don't remember where... The energical stream had to be there, I think, for me to search in littles streets in the other end of Quebec province... I remember looking at her as looking at me in the mirror... my cousin had blue hair and a strong character! I always appreciated been with her since then and even though we've been long periods without seeing each other it is always a pleasure to chat together. She never seems to be in a bad mood and she is a life lover. She went in Magdalen Islands 10 years after she left with her family to encounter the people she was missing to! I will always be there for that kind girl I care for...

 

One of those people for which "extremely positive" that we used to have on CS had a reason of existence! She is really experinced about hosting and guiding people. That's why I did really enjoy my time in Edinburgh during fringe festival. Don't miss to meet her, you will like having conversation with her, because she is learned about everything.
Besides she is not only active CSer but also good volunteer for CS.

Anick is such a perfect, intelligent, adventorous girl. She likes the way as she wants. Even though misundersood each other before meeting, I'm very very glad that she hosted me and my close friend.I really liked talking with her deep conversations. I really didnt want to write negative feedback about Anick because it was a mutual falling out. I dont get wound up over these things but she has a way of putting her metaphorical baggage on everyone else. She is very confrontational and in your face. Plus she cannot let go of unimportant and irrelevant details. I tried to get along with her but she became increasingly rude and difficult.
She has a whole lot of problems I am sure she will never get over because of her personality.
Her inability to listen and learn from other people is due to her always wanting to voice her opinion no matter how little her understanding of the subject.
I have no interest in bothering with this person ever again.

I am very happy that I met Anick. It was a good thng that I didn't decide to surf Edinburgh till the last minute. I was pleased to discover that we shared many of the same aquaintances. I very much enjoyed hearing some of her stories and talking about cs. She,ulf, and I had a great dinenr and drinks at the forest. I hope to see her again soon.#

Anick-Marie is just THE Best Ambassador! She picked me up from the train station at 830 in the morning even though she was having a little flu.
Showed me around most of Edinburgh and even brought me to the most wonderful cafe and restaurants. She is definitely the sweetest and nicest person.

It's funny to see how things evolve in the online world for more than 3 years when all of a sudden a CS gathering brings people together:) Has always been a pleasure to chat with Anick but meeting her had even more of the charm! Keen friend and dedicated CSer with a vivid and fun persona :)

 

Annick-Marie is just about perfect........ for a Canadian :-) I'm very glad to finally have had the opportunity to meet her in person. She showed up with a bunch of other people at a meeting I organized. We've already been in e-mail contact for some time and she's as nice as I imagined her to be. Completely trustworthy!

March 2008: I met Anick in Berlin at Caspar's apartment where we were both being hosted, then we went on a road trip together to Krakow for 4 days. I had such a great time riding in the back seat with her, she always keeps things interesting. I think that Anick is the kind of person that brings out the best in people, and she always made me laugh and made me feel really comfortable. I'll always cherish the memories of her feeding me sausage and when we would randomly start singing songs together. I really hope I can see her again sometime soon in Europe, because she is someone that once you meet, you want to see again and again and again.
Update July 2008: Anick and I have kept in touch a lot, and I really appreciate her continuing friendship! We saw each other again at Berlin Beach Camp, then she hosted me for 2 nights in Koln, where she was a perfect host, and then we were both at the Paella also. I really value our time together and I am excited to hopefully see her again soon once she moves to the UK. Oh yeah - a testament to just how much I trust her is that I even let her cut my hair! And that is a first for me.

I've met Anick-Marie at the CS paella 08 where we shared a wee chat. During the evening we have had a great time listenning her singing some popular & folk songs from Quebec!

 

Paella meeting '08 was great. A lot of fun, a lot of old friends there and a lot of new friends after. After the Berlin Beach Camp and many online interactions we met again at the infamous Paella 2008 where Anick once more proved to be both a good listener and a good speaker, but also a good singer and entertainer.

Even if we "worked" there quite a bit I enjoyed the time we spent together a lot and hope to see her again soon :o)

well... unfortunally, "positive" is the best option you can choose, otherwise I would have selected "galactical" or "splendid":-) Annick visited me on the way to the great paella and we had a wunderful evening, witch I'll never forget! We had a fantastic conversation, walked through town and had a nice dinner. I really hope, that I'll meet her again, maybe in Scotland.

 

What can I say about Anick:
I can't believe that she is Canadian because she has a strong Scottish accent. We met a couple times, and it's always interesting to hear her stories. She is well-informed about couchsurfing, and I enjoy her company. I hope to see you at the Paella or on my couch in Munich!

I first met Anick at the Berlin Beach Camp, but I really got to know her when she took me in for a few nights in Koln. What I discovered was only good things! She's extremely caring, knows a few secret destinations around Koln, and if you're lucky she might even teach you a little poi juggling... IF you're lucky! You'd do very well if you find yourself being hosted by Anick - so be sure to show your gratitude. She definitely made a very difficult time for me much easier. Thanks again Anick!

I first met Anick-Marie at the BBC08 after I missed her during her stay in Bremen. I was quite happy when I received her message that she would accept my invitation to come to Bremen for a second time.
So she came here along with bright sunshine, her companion Peter and some Kölsch. We spent a great time with coffee in my house, the pleasures of black olives on chicken breast during a bus trip, a BBQ at Sannas place including a thunderstorm, a short bar excursion followed by a party on my rooftop, a perfect anti-hangover-breakfast next morning, some sightseeing, a bike trip, lounging at the beach, relaxing in my kitchen, a great dinner at a friends place and a long good-bye-hug on platform 7.

She listened to me and gave a good advice when I needed it. In this world where I feel all too often like an alien she made me feel there are also others here from the same planet. She recharged my mental batteries when they were almost empty. And she managed to do all this within 35 hours.

You Know what? From your profile and my first impression in Berlin I already expected a good CS-experience, but what happened here was even better.

I've met Anick-Marie at the BBC 08 and hosted her two in Bordeaux about one year later. Both experiences were a pleasure, but the latter was more consistent than the first. She was a very interesting guest, the kind you never get bored with, and I'd host her anytime again!

Anick-Marie is a nice open mined, incomplex girl. I just emailed her and asked for having a drink. She is very helpful, and a active person, also very involved in CS. I am glad that I have met her.

Update Mai 2008: difficult to sum-up one year of regular exchange and idea’s confrontations! She is a part of rare people in couchsurfing website with who I can share point of view (agreement, disagreement, questioning. . .) with the most respectful and constructive way. A true friend and at the same time a precious adviser!

We met at three occasions this year in Cologne and Berlin. Annick-Marie is cool!!

After i start to prepare some workshops for the Berlin Beach Camp Anick was the first who offer to help and so we rock the CS Workshops at the Camp together. Seeing those hard-core CouchSurfers in action at Berlin Beach Camp 2008 was amazing. I appreciate the efford and dedication that people like Anick-Marie put into it. She took part in the workshops and introduced me to yet another Country Amb (after Caspar it was now Roland).

 

...and one year after we met again. And it was a lot better than the first time. We had the long awaited chance to talk intensely (figthing included, of course) and now I think I can call her a real friend, and to say that she´s special and sweet-at times-, and I hope to meet for the next time soon...

 

Anick is a great and generous person. We talked a lot about personal things and view of life. Moreover she is a real support to activate the local community with a lot of experience in this field and very motivated to do it! :)

Anick-Marie has become somewhat of a rolemodel on CS for me, whenever I find myself in a situation that needs handling, I always think, what would AM say/do in a similar situation.

She's just such a strong and beautifull person that it's impossible not to fall in love with her and you meet her. She has the most amazing smile and is always friendly and articulate...

She also gave me her famous white hat for my birthday, which was an extremely nice thing to do...

I really feel that my knowledge of the english language is not good enough to describe all the positive things that AM stands for.

Life is a journey and Anick is travelling it! She is one of the few people who really leave an impression on me and I feel deeply connected to her. Wahoo, what a reference! She is also a good host, multitasker, listener and storyteller btw ;)

 

I met Anick during a CS meeting and also had to give her a little advice about Essen, too bad she didn't stay longer to see more of the city.

 

Though we only know for since beginning of january on chat and the weekend with Ulf in Cologne, I feel like we shared many deep talks and there is a connection. After Cologne I planed a road trip to Krakow, Poland with Ashley&Roger, 2 of my friends from CS chat. Anick was in and she was the perfect team member. Us 4 had the best time on the trip. Anick and me stayed at the same lovely host-family there and she kept on the conversation late night while I fighted not to fall to sleep at the kitchen table. Enjoyed Krakow, met Couchsurfers, had good talks, shared food etc... after Krakow she stayed 6 more days at my place. We where both so busy on CS so 1 of us was on the PC all the time, changing every few hours.. I think now I really know alot about her after all we shared and she knows alot about me! Anick was very open to explain me lots of couchsurfing; I am quite new here so I don't know many things yet. It was interesting and fun talking to her.

 

Anick visited Poland with the CS Chat Addicts roadtrip. She is really fun, intelligent and talkative. She's one of those people you feel comfortable with in an instant, a couple of sentances and you know you will "click". We enjoyed our chats and laughed alot ( thanks Anick ). We also had a glimpse on CS security internals, very interesting!
Being on the CS security team, obviously she's very trustworhy.

I really had the chance to host twice Anick-Marie , firstly during the Braderie de Lille 2007 with her friend Bastien and secondly in march 2008 when she came back from the Independant Women meeting in Brugge. Anick-Marie... where to start explaining how we spent the Independent Women Meeting together and beyond! I was honoured to have her as my guest and she offered to stay a day longer to fill up the void we all know so well (the aftermath of a big CS-meeting). We shared lots of stories, emotions, cs-related troubles and thrills, she made me a wonderful meal and I felt comfortable in her presence. Girl, I can't wait to see you again - Köln is not that far away, you know! Bisous!

 

AM and I work together in MD&ST and we got to know each other through there.
We spent a lot of time chatting about work related issues and became good friends. Our first meeting was in feb 2008 when she came to visit in Oslo for 9 days. She was an xcellent guest! Helpful, funny and she has a very optimistic view of life.
She shares a lot of herself witch makes it really easy to be around her and feel well in her company !
We also met in June '08 (Bremen) and July '08 (Switzerland - Paella).

Through our work and our meetings she has become one of my trusted friends and we talk about almost everything. She is a great listener and she also has a lot of good advices and views of life to take into consideration.
I would definately be happy to host her again at any point later.

AM is a great work-partner and although we have a similar way of dealing with work issues we also have very different backgrounds and ideas and with these we fulfill each other in a good way. Love you!

 

Finally we met at the Independent Women Meeting in Brugge, after months of organization and msn conversations. Already before we met I felt that we connected very well and meeting AM was just a confirmation. She is full of energy and ideas and her positive attitude is contagious. At the same time she is very direct and serious about serious matters. I hope we keep in touch and meet again soon.

Anick-Marie is nothing short of extraordinary. As a solo female traveler and hitchhiker, I relate well to her, and can appreciate the huge knowledge and experience base she's building up for herself. Upon re-meeting her, we couldn't stop chatting about so many little things; she's just one of those people I feel a natural connection to, and I think in her intuitive, worldly view, she can relate easily to almost anyone. I happened to see on the Cologne group that Anick was looking for a place to stay just as I was checking CS at work. I spontaneously decided to contact her, and I'm glad that I did: it led to conversation about libraries, personal pilgrimages, Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind, playcards and serendipitous finds.

Anick was bright-eyed and open and full of stories and it was great to cook for her and have tea&talk with her, and have someone help do the dishes and walk to work with me the next morning.

It was great fun to hang around w/ Anick, Ulf, & her couchsurfing friends in Germany. Anick...A truly wonderful person who I truly hope ends up being more than just a positive reference on my Couchsurfing page. We lived together for 8 days at the Arche, where we had our home base for the Koln Carnival. Over these eight days we've laughed, cried, partied, lounged, ate, drank, watched movies and so much more. She made the whole experience much brighter, and definitely did more than her fair share when it came to our 'home'.

I met Anick during karnival in cologne while we were staying at the same place. She's an outgoing person who loves to have fun and makes everyone around her more cheerful. We also shared our first german sauna experience, which also happened to be my first naked CS meeting (and probably hers too...?). It was great meeting Anick and I hope to see her again.

I never thought I'd find someone I can really talk to in the chaos that reigns cologne's carnival, but there she was. Some bluish-silverish fairy! Not only can she listen, she made me feel welcome from the first minute and WOW! can she cook!!! I hope to see you again soon, because: We do believe in fairies! We do, we do!

 

Nice Girl!! I met her in Cologne. She was with me at the Rosenmontagszug (Carnival-Parade), take the sauna after the parade and spend the night in same flat.

 

Ok so now I think its time for a reference ;-) AM and I met briefly in Jan 08 and didnt really get the chance to know each other. However almost a year to the day I found myself hosting someone whom I now work with on a day to day basis with the MDST. A joy to host over a special weekend, hope will see her in person again soon :-)

 

In Cologne Germany we met during the rosenmontag parade where she told me that she knew me from some group-posts.
It was weird to meet someone that already seems to know me from online without knowing the person myself.
Anyway this was really fun and we had great discussions about visions, improving CS, The weather, and ways of travelling of a nomad like she.
Later in the evening we were even both having our first naked CS meeting in the Sauna of Cologne thanks to great guid Mr Ulf.
This summer I was so lucky to meetup with her again in Gossau.

Anick organised a meeting in Frankfurt with about 20 people. Beeing there only for one day, this is a respectable achievement and shows how much she loves and is involved in this community. She is also fun-loving, knows always what to say, but is also a good listener.
I met her again in Cologne for Carnival and hopefully again in summer for the Paella-Party in Switzerland!

It all started with a big distinguishing moment. Anick came to Darmstadt instead of staying in Frankfurt, 'cos she's traveling for other reasons than for just "discovering cities".
This attitude of "understanding a culture by meeting people" combined with her language skills, great humour and "aimabilité" made us click right from the beginning.
She stayed at my place for nights and I really enjoyed everything:
The long discussions about Canada and "laicité", the Karaoke party in Frankfurt, the visit of Heidelberg.
It was a real pleasure to host her, cos she's reliable, caring, friendly.
Anick is very talkative, but nevertheless she knows when to stop talking, just listen or just to be quiet.

She was really busy, working and hosting everyone. But even though we didn't spend to much time together everytime that she was there I enjoy her company, she knew alot about Edinburgh and Scotland history and places, she was the best tourguide of my trip.

 

It's just great finally meeting people whose writtings you read in CS groups and whose opinion you highly value. And when Anick-Marie was passing through my neck of the woods, i could not resist the opportunity to meet her. Shared some great and informative conversations over dinner and it's just great to see the CS flame still burning strong in her, as it's highly contagious:) Didn't get to spend much time, yet she's left me with best impressions: a person who cares, who respects, who listens, understands and is always willing to offer a helping hand; fundamental values for one carrying the yellow flag. Do meet her, you'll only be at loss if you don't.

most people in the world, even in the cs world, put up barriers, i dont understand barriers so i take this as being these people and am then confused when they change. I know that even if Annick and i found ourselves to be very different people we will always have in common the fact that we allow ourselves to connect, i have seen this girl for enough time to know she doesnt put up barriers. THIS IS AN INVALUBALE QUALITY reward it, give to her....yes even when she is covered in itchy green flaky goo turned concrete. i really hope u feel the same and come back and find us to get to know eachother better x x

Anick is a sweet girl, very honest and open. She travels a lot and is quite adventurous:) She's also a great cook and she helped me enormously by cooking the dinner for all of us when she came over! I would highly recommend her as a considerate and polite guest with a great sense of humour!:)

There are some people with whom you click more or less quickly. With Anick, it took less than 5 minutes to feel we were meant to meet.
We only had an evening to chat, but a really intense one. It felt like landing on a new continent, with lots of great stories about her island in the middle of nowhere :o)
Definitely one of my best experiences so far! I just wish I didn't have to travel the next day...

First of all Anick is great and she was made for couchsurfing..never saw such hospitality and kindness which such spontaneous way and naturalness!I surfed her couch with my brother for 7 days and I felt at home ALL THE TIME..Thank you Anick and Bastien!!!

Anick is a very talkative, positive and happy person. We met in little mexico(chico's) were she ate some food and i drank some wine chatting happily! We then moved on to have a little boogie at a drum and bass night! The next time we crossed paths was the night she came out with all my work colleagues and had a bit of a party! As anick forgot to bring the army to stop me i caried on as she went back to get some sleep before her bus!! She is a wonderful person and great to chat to with all her travelling stories!! Very nice host. I wasn't on couchsurfing yet when Anick-Marie contacted my flatmate to stay in our flat. My flatmate, who was leaving the day after, introduced me to the concept and I accepted to receive her and her CS friend. We had a very good evening, eating, chatting...Etc.....

Anick is such an interesting girl with a zest for life and travel like no other. She made me feel so at home in edinburgh and even working all the time she talked to me as much as she could even at 6 in the morning when i was drinking water and she was going to work

 

Extremely extremely outgoing. She lives up to all of the Canadian stereotypes about friendliness. Its too bad that she is planning on moving to Germany so soon, because she is awesome to hang out with.

Anick-Marie is too kind and helpful. Not only did she take me into her home last minute, she helped me find a place to stay in Glasgow after I left. An amazing first host with good insight and an ease about her way of life.

Hope we can stay in touch and perhaps help develop the community more and more together.

 

We decided to go for a weekend hike without having met before (in real life) and I'm more than pleased having done so. Otherwise I would not know such a unique character, person, soul,... Her commitment to CS is remarkable and I wish her all the necessary strength and energy to pursue her dreams. Of which she has plenty :)

Great host and a wonderful experience in their latest flat-venture! Good tips on exploring even with her busy schedule, the little ones running around, and yumyum dumplings. A good ambassador and free-spirit. She knows how to dance to Tibetan music, too!

Fast-moving, fast-thinking, fast-friend-makin and very pleasant but still this is too little to describe Anick. Even if she lived in the middle of a desert with nothing else to do she herself would be a reason to have a visit there. She is very talkative and very good to make someone at ease. So if you ever had the chance to be her guest do not esitate to go straightaway, perhaps you will learn some peruvian dialect:-)

Anick Marie has a big CS experience and is extremely communicative. She launched the first CS meeting in Picardie (France) and that's enough to show her energy in the CS project. You won't be bored with her and she can put you in touch with other CS people anywhere in the world.

 

Anick and I met first at the CSC-Montreal and then again at the Paris Rendez-Vous this summer. Both times I felt an instant connection with this fellow traveler. I am very thankful for the time an attention that Anick has shown to both CS and the meetings/collectives. And, every time I run into her, she has some amazing new hair style/color. Always so much fun to see her. Cheers Anick!

After six hours of talking (and talking and talking) in a car heading to Rimouski, she invited me to a night in Rimouski's CEGEP rez where we played card games before going singing until early in the morning in a Karaoke. I even started to read "Le loup des steppes" because of her (haven't finished it yet, though). Nice to hear from you, miss!

 

Anick is a fantastic person and a real gem in the CS network. We met at the Paris Rendez Voux 2007, worked on some projects together, killed the trivia comp (mmmmmm, candy), and hung out for the duration of events, parties, tours, and all that was Rendez Vous 2007! As Anick-Marie as written, I am timid. I need time to speak. But Anick has lot of culture (she speak very well about her country, about cultural differences / similtudes between countries, people,. .) and very good impression about people. Sometimes we have not the same ideas, but I have a good confidence in Anick-Marie. During our meeting we speak about Quebec, Canada, European constitution, regional languages, . . . So she is a very interesting person.

J'ai voulu rencontrer Anick-Marie pendant longtemps et n'était pas de tout déçu ! Elle connaît beaucoup la vie écologique et c'était superbe de parler avec elle. Elle a également un intérêt pour les plantes. Elle m'a aidé à récolter la camomille et a identifié une plante que je cherchais. Je ne peux pas la remercier assez pour cela !
