The Greek Perk

 

DJ Pericles is an interesting and creative firecracker, a good man and energetic soul!

 

Had a fun weekend sharing music, talking philosophy, hanging out till the late late hours of the night, great guy, he and his friends were respectful of the house, great company, and really fun folks. Plus he produces some wonderful electronic music.

 

Couldn't have asked for a better location or group of people. Blocks from the water and walking distance to everything. Came knowing nothing about the location of this place or MUSC for my coming interview. Turned out that not only was it ~10 min by foot, it was literally just down the street. Immediately welcomed by John and roommates. within minutes, we were both treated to both the eccentricity of the lovely and slightly voracious land lady next door and to a sampling of the homeade rootbeer being brewed in the kitchen.

felt immediately at home and welcomed in the house. great roommates and no shortage of things to do. If you're there on a monday, you must check out Metal Monday's live band kareoake with Demon Semen. A blast in and of itself, but made even better when Evan (one of 4 roommates) rocks his weekly routine. great host, roommates, location, and cannot forget Lindsay another great one to add to the tours, nights out, and hospitality

Ah man I had such an absolute top time of it with john and his crew that i really didn't want to leave....fantastic drunken, hazy times......i became a true zombie hippy

 

John is a super cool guy, accommodating, and an absolute blast to hang out with! I had two nights with him and his friends filled with hilarity, brilliant music, fascinating conversations, and impromptu game creation...LINTBALL 2008 Champions!

This was my first couch surfing experience, and I couldn't have asked for a better one! John is extremely nice. He tried to include us in everything that was going on, showed us around, and we shared music. I never felt unwelcome. :)

We had so much fun with John, he was really sweet and helpful, and went out of his way to make sure we had fun. His girlfriend was so nice and she invited us to the spa she worked at and it was lovely. Beautiful weather as well, but I don't think I can credit John on that.

John was an awesome host, took us to his crazy dance party show, introduced us to his lovely friends and got us pampered like mad at the spa. he lives in a crazy beautiful part of town and is very knowledgeable about charleston (though most of his stories are lies) next time we'll have to stay longer and hit the beach! or come to nyc! say hi to lindsey :)

Sorry that we missed the ghost tour! Other than that, great experience. A cheerful person who took us to his show and a spa, which is pretty much all you can ask for. Wish I was still in charleston, instead of this cold, cold place. Speaking of, come visit sometime!

 

John is a great guy. He showed me and my girlfriend a great time in Charleston. He and his roommates were the best hosts. They had a perfect bed for surfers, and were eager to show us around as well. Make sure they take you to Metal Monday at the Poor House. We look forward to hosting John and Lindsay if they make it up to Boone.

 

If there's a category above "Extremely Positive", I'd give John that in a heartbeat. His response to my request for a couch was faster than any I've ever received and despite the fact that he was elsewhere when I arrived, he made arrangements for me to enter his place immediately. I felt at home from the get go. During my few days in Charleston, we squeezed in a full week's worth of activities. Two hours into town and I was already enjoying myself at his friends' house party. The next day, John personally showed me the town, where he seems to know everyone. It was a non-stop progression of lunches, visits, dinners, parties, and bars all with great people and engaging discussions. John's house is perfectly situated in the historic district of Charleston and everything is within walking distance. His roommates Evan, Kevin, and Jesse were fantastic and I thoroughly enjoyed getting to know each of them. Southern hospitality is alive and well and John is a defining example. Thank you for making Charleston such a memorable experience.

 

This guy will DJ your socks off!!!

We met at a pizza/trivia bash. He was very talkative and was the life of the party with many of his friends. He was very inquisitive about my travels and life and seems to be pretty chill and laid back. He'd be fun to hang and travel with.

I surfed his couch one night and went out with him (DJ) and his flatmates (bartender) - with those guys you have fun for sure

John is a great host. Welcomed me and a freind in to his place no questions asked. Very chill guy, DJs some house and trace which was pretty cool. Overall great place to visit!!

A great couch to surf - John's a great host! John added to my time in beautiful Charlston - he sure does love it. I'll be back someday!

Staying with John was awesome. We requested to stay only a day or so beforehand and he made room for us (4 people) even though he already had two surfers. He was a great tour guide and made staying in Charleston so cool!

John is the model couchsurfing host. Always a laugh, he made my stay in Charlston the absolute dogs. I was a virgin couchsurfer and I don't think John will be toppled. He took much time from his studies to show me around the city and could not be more accomodating.

John's a great guy to be around, he has an extremely positive outlook on life. He knows the Charleston party scene. There were great conversations about music, and I finally learned about the intricacies of DJing. Didn't get much sleep but had an awesome time!

John is a kind, friendly and extremely sociable person - my first couchsurfing experience could not have been better :)

I had a wizard-brill time with John, he is a true legend!!!

He has a lot of common sense and ability to get along with all kinds of people.

 

Jon is really chilled out interesting guy. We didn't spend much time with him, but we are thankful that he took 4 of us in despite having 2 surfers already. We ended up going to a party with him and had a great time. Highly recommend meeting him.

John rocks in southern hospitality with loads of personality, people will always have a smile staying with him and learn lots too! Thanks for letting us crash John!

We stayed at his place for only one night, but we would have liked to stay longer if we would have had more time. He and his friends were very nice and hospitable. We had an awesome party at his place and we finally got to know jones. ;)

We had a great party at John's house. He told us something about crazy music and the one and only Jones. ;) The other roomates were nice too and one also cooked for us. John is a really nice guy. You should surf his couch because it rocks.

oh perk (thats how his friends call him) was a grandiose host and gregarious couchsurfer! me and friends crashed his couch for just one night but he made us feel like we're already part of his circle of friends and made this one (party-)night unforgetable! he introduced us to a bunch of his awsome friends and made us feel like home! thanks so much and hope you're going to crash my couch in berlin very very soon! i highly highly recommend this couchsurfer!

Oh, how I long for my very first ghost tour. Can't wait to visit the Perk in his hometown.

I spent a night hangin with "The greek" and his high-larious friends out in Charleston. John is a legend and I will never forget the good times.

I met John in Charleston. He is a very happy person and very welcoming. From the first minute we met, we didn't stop talking ! A great guy !

Twas really cool to hang out with John and Lindsay for a couple days, meet their friends at wild parties in overcool houses and get a few tips to chill out in the city. I do hope we meet again, when and wherever!!! :0)

John is a first-rate guy, one of the best that I know. He has a great outlook on life and a fun loving personality. He also provides a unique experience to surfers through Charleston. He is a local college student, with an exceptional familiarity of the King Street and Historic District night life, as well as a licensed city tour guide. He offers not only his couch, but the city of Charleston in its entirety to those surfing through.

Johny sure is a credit to the Couch Surfing world.Very passionate about Charleston and its history. The guy sure is a people person. He made me feel very welcome and looked after me incredibly well.he does a great ghost tour, also.cheers John, thanks a lot mate!

we skied and kicked it for a while. we met a few times previous through a common family member.

One of the friendliest people I know and would love to know better. He brings a smile to my face every time I see him around campus and the city : )

John is a great guy, someone who'd give the shirt off his back to you. He let me and my girlfriend crash at his place and it was very nice. John happens to be a licensed historian, so walking around Charleston turns into your very own guided tour. Buy him a drink and the stories get better.
