Groups I Belong ToCouch Information
No couch currently available for surfing. Please note!
I have pretty weird and demanding work hours:
-every other week I'm on the morning shift (7am to 2.30 pm) -the other on the evening shift (6 to 10.30 pm, although if they ask me to come in earlier, I most likely will say yes)
And! I only have one key, so, we might have to play with time a bit, :)
But, my flat is 15 minutes on foot from downtown Helsinki, which means easy access to pretty much everywhere in the city, airport and marinas included - public transport here's the best in Europe!
The building's next to the sea, so, you'll feel the wind, chill and all. I do live alone, no pets or anything, 33 and a half square meters is just right for one. I don't smoke myself, but you can do so out in the balcony. And I can provide you with bedding, no worries. Friends (47)

Personal DescriptionI'm not good at selling myself, but let's give it a shot:
- Independent, very stubborn at times and rather selfish - oh good, give the worst first, :D
- Small and round, like an apple
- Wait. Not small - fun sized! ;)
- Feisty, too
- Loud, pretty sure my hearing's not what it should be at my age..
- And really ought to practice my listening skills
- Love to laugh, sarcasm is a big hit - taught me to laugh at myself, very important in life!
- The most energized couch potato - my home is my sanctuary where I charge the batteries, but that doesn't mean I don't like to entertain others here from time to time
- Enjoy the little things, such as singing along to my favorite tunes at the top of my lungs (obviously in private, :) and compiling photo albums whilst taking the path down the memory lane
- High on life
- Restless feet
- And never had an opinion in my life! ;D
- Uh, and don't smoke and party at moderationHow I Participate in CSFor me it's not just about helping someone out by letting them crash at my couch, although I'm more than happy to do that. It's about cultural exchange, both national and individual. I've always felt there's more to the world than just Finland and hosting travelers is one way to experience it. I don't have as much opportunities to be the surfer myself as of yet, but I'm hoping that'll change at some point.CouchSurfing ExperienceI think the "References" shows best what kind of experiences I've had with CS, so, please, scroll downwards, thank you!Interests- Life

From Fu-Chia Chuang Linz, Austria Apr 29 Positive We stayed in Katri’s place for three nights. She was a great host. She came to train station to pick us up, made a comfortable bed, and so on. It was such a great time chatting with her. She is so lively, smart and having clever viewpoint to any kind of topic, that you never feel bored and you can always learn something from her talks. The joke of “how to tell the races of people from their looking” was really funny. :p
She was also a thorough girl that she found something I forgot immediately after we left.:)
Katri, we’re waiting for you to visit Taiwan!
From Michael Ocampo Helsinki, Finland Apr 19 Positive Huh, Amazing lady! We hugs, give hugs. It was really nice experience to pop-up in an activity where to never know anyone.
We go the the same school but never met there ;-).
Hope next time I can join you to make a peaceful noise in the very serene city of Helsinki
From Florentin Westermann Zurich, Switzerland Mar 27 Positive Katri saved me from the cold streets of Helsinki. With no place to stay late at night, she offered me to surf her place while she went to work the night shift.
The next day she was a bit tired, but we continued telling bad jokes anyways. We teased each other about the quality of the swiss public transport system vs. the finnish(ed), spent time on Suomenlinna, walked around a lot in the city, cooked, cleaned dishes (well, I did..)-
I was never unchallenged and have felt welcome from the first minute. And we'll see about the chocolate... I've heard finnish border controls are quite harsh ;)
From Jans Li Kuopio, Finland Jan 14 Positive Katri is a very warm and accomodating host. She would do anything to make you feel comfortable at home. Even offered her bed to us and she slept on the couch. For all those tired travellers, you will not find a better host and a more lovely lady who will even go to the train station to pick us up. Nothing more you need in a foreign land than a Katri. She certainly gets an A+++ from us.
From Kristin Schuster Montreal, Canada Dec 17, 2008 Positive Katri is a wonderful host, very chatty and full of life. she actually offered me a couch because she could see I needed one, which shows what a generous person she is.
From Maaria Valppu Helsinki, Finland Oct 15, 2008 Positive Katri is a very talkative, lively, bubbly and vibrant girl with a large amount of opinions. She really likes to organize things so if you don´t know what to do or where to go in Helsinki, she´ll find it out for you. :)
Katri has a very nice apartment near to center. If you want to make your breakfast (or her to cook it for you ;)) in a purple kitchen with "seaside view" this is a right choice!
From Eliya Cohen Canberra, Australia Aug 29, 2008 Positive Katri is a very welcoming host!
My first couchsurfing experience ever! Thanks Katri for being so generous and putting up with the two of us.
From Sophie Sibson Arradon, France Aug 28, 2008 Positive Katri is the host to be at. I had a great time with her she really helped me out in this new town, and it was so cool to go and see the town with such a good guide and friend.
From Daria Shepelenko Saint Petersburg, Russia Aug 22, 2008 Positive Katri is an amazing girl, intelligent, smart, easy going with a good sence of humor. Unfortunatly we met her only for couple of hours in Helsinki but hopefully will couch Katri in Russia one day!
From Simone Serino Bari, Italy Aug 22, 2008 Positive You need only few minutes to understand that Katri is a big-heart, kind and friendly person!!!
From Sophie Ewert Melbourne, Australia Aug 20, 2008 Positive SOOOOOO helpful, kind and quirky! What a comfy couch! thanks so much for your hospitality, your always welcome when your on my side of the world!
From Popey Milano, Italy Aug 17, 2008 Positive Katri hosted my during my stay of two days in Helsinki. She is very kind, nice and easygoing person. Always smiling and talking. She is one of the best turistic guides in the city :) She showed me the city explaining patientlly what we where whatching.
Thank you very much, you are welcome in Italy.
From Brian Luke La Canada Flintridge, United States Aug 4, 2008 Positive I was very lucky to surf with Katri. She offered up her very comfy couch and took time so we could get to know each other. Whether we were touring around, going out on the town, or just chilling out, Katri made me feal like I was spending the weekend with a long time friend. Thanks Katri!!!
From Hugh McCorkle III Saint Charles, United States Aug 3, 2008 Positive Katri was an absolutely amazing host; staying with her was more like staying with a friend than with a couchsurfing host. She knew that I didn't have much money, so she looked for activites that were fun while still being inexpensive, things like a boat trip to an island fortress and a picnic at the beach. The whole time I stayed with her, she was so easy to talk to, so open and friendly. Staying with her was the number one reason that I had such a great time in Helsinki. You're welcome to St. Charles anytime... you will just have to pretend to be a gun carrying conservative republican if my Dad asks you what you are doing in the house.
From Matti Vähätalo Maringa, Brazil Jan 23, 2008 Positive A good and a very interesting person with lots to talk and lots of opinions ;)
A very nice and down-to-earth as a host, and makes you feel like home. The apartment is in a good position. And with a "view to the sea" ;) |
