Robin pulls off baking bread, breaking bike axles, being a Casa mentor and making a nuisance of himself with incredible ease. Although he likes to pretend he is somewhat of an ogre, everyone really knows he's actually quite a nice fellow... A pleasure to finally meet this Robino so often mentioned...

I ended up in casa robino to have a thai massage given by amylin (who is now in turkey), then I started to join the thursday meetings once in a while...at first I judged him as being "too dutch" (foreigners living in amstedam like me will understand),but I rapidly changed my mind and had some sneaky preview of the sweet,generous and peaceful person that he is.Hope to have more chances to start a cool frienship :) take care of my plant! peton

I left a few minutes and already felt the lack of Robino and friends, the atmosphere of the house ... have that sensation in the stomach when things are interrupted ... the need to have more time to spend together ... however, this is life ... a result of coitus interruptus ... not know how things can evolve ... I hope one day to have a second chance ... Double wow for Robino and friends... A great big hug !!!

 

Robin put a cigarette out in my back and sold one of my kidneys on ebay (lucky I still have the other one). I wouldn't have stayed with him for 10 days if he weren't one of the most interesting, kind, and exceptional people I've ever met. He and his vision for the world may very well have changed my life. Either that or it's Stockholm syndrome...

two sweet nights, came and left so quick, a new spaces full of hugs and joining of random peoples, this should be the way to run life...and here it is, and thank you 000so very much for spreading it into my own stinky little life

Visiting Casa Robino was quite an experience I can recommend. Not being a guest, but being a host in an "open house".
Dumpsterdiving and a huge diner with about 20 people. A house which hopefully wil never be too small.

I enjoyed my time in amsterdam and my stay at Robins. I met many CSfers from many countries. I felt welcome the the second the door was opened and the hugs were given. I will miss you! And do not forget to drop by if you ever come to Thailand. Big warm hugs!

he who tends to be slightly narrow-minded

We had no idea where to sleep with my girlfriend as the train from Koln enterred the Amsterdam station. But suddenly I received an SMS from Robino explaining us how to get at his place. The stay there was marvellous. We had our bikes, our room, cooked what we wanted with what we found on the dumpster and met in three days around twenty nice people. And above all, a few days after, Robino will save us as we are looking in vain for a last minute couch in Vienna by directing us to a friend of him.

See you in month in Madrid!

If somebody would ask me for my most interesting CS Experience - i would just answer 2 words. CASA ROBINO. And then i would smile.

Also the circumstance that not i found this couch, no the couch found me! And the whole place with all the great humates there touched me deeply.

My father always told me that in life you should always look for amazing people, people who you know you can trust, and whose example you would want to follow. Robino is one of these people. An example of how to live. Warm, caring, accepting, and every other positive adjective you could think of.

he's warm and caring. i sensed that, even though we met only for a short drink. we spent relaxing time sharing stories in old part of ljubljana. i hope our paths cross again someday, maybe even for some creative project. R, good luck, and keep inspiring;)

 

Robokow, booyah! There was a big impact when we met, as if the revolution had started spinning faster; steadily our worlds connected more frequently, more profoundly. It was an amazing thing for me to feel so at home at Casa Robino; bicycle travel has been a lonely affair most of the time but Robin became a close friend in no time. He's a rare soul to find on the road, attractive, generous, educated, curious, respectful and wise. Ask about Sharism and visit this lovely man. You won't regret it.

Robino and what I would call "casa Robino sharing approach" are contagious and highly addictive. He is one of those amazing people able to open your eyes on parallel universe. Thanks to him and to the beautiful minds I met in his house, I feel pushed to live my inspirations instead than sleeping and wondering about my dreams. there are no words that can explain how sometimes people can help you to change your life.

Robin's "Casa" is one of the coolest ways to experience Amsterdam. I met numerous interesting,intentional, and inspiring people. I enjoyed the many conversations, the laughs, and the freegan food very much and look forward to my next sorjurn .

Robino saved our hitchhiking trip by taking us in for one night on our way back to Berlin. We had a nice chat & he showed us a good spot to hitchhike out again.

Unfortunately we didn`t have too much to know each other, but the short time i met him was very nice. He`s exactly the kind of simple person who i think shold exist more in this world. Generous, desinterested, free in what he wants und who helps people because he wants to. The nice people staying at his place were also very nice with me, and i felt more than confortable there, i could say that for a moment i could feel as if i arrived home and were somebody there. Amsterdam was a beautiful city for me, and my time at Robino`s place made it better.

I first met Robino ghost-guesting his appartment- It was fun and Robino loved it too: is he staying is he not staying...hummm. Couchsurfing was then the next step and that was fun too!
Robino is an inspiring guy, energetic, funny, spontaneous, witty, generous and highly hospitable (he even loves ghost-guests!!! I swear!)
He put a lot of effort in organizing the 888 project with us and I cannot thank him enough for introducing me and others to hitchwiki. I would love to teach him how to bark but we would have to hitchhike to T-O-K-Y-O- for that.

Thanks a lot for everything Robin! He let us in with a very short notice. I wrote in the Amsterdam group if it really was impossible to find a couch and he wrote a prompt reply! This guy sends out so many positive vibes and we felt more at home than just welcome at his place:-) One night we were even 12 people sleeping there!! Everyone was so sweet and had many cool stories to tell. Great to eat dinner and drink wine with everyone. If you ever get to Copenhagen I am sure you have people lining up for hosting you, but pleeeaase stay at my place!! Take care.

Robin's got love tattooed on his forehead, and would probably hug cockroaches if it was possible! Helped me out when I was in real need of roof over my head, a shame we didn't get to be more social due to the lack of time. I'd definitely would want to meet up again!

Ah, what can I say about this man... We met during the 888 hitchhike to Paris and, already then, he provided me with so much support (it was my first hitchhike). So good-natured and kind, I had hardly spoken with him and already I was glad to have met him. Then a few weeks later he took me and a couple of friends in while we visited Amsterdam. His home was our home. He is so welcoming and warm... We met fantastic travelers also staying with him, and listened to home-made music (using kitchen utensils as accompaniment to the guitar). All in all, an unforgettable experience. Meet this man and let him inspire you, I guarantee that something in you will change in some way. Take care of you!!

Robino helped me out when I didn't have a place to stay and he was the perfect rescue host. He's very big into the hospitality movement and reccomended some CS functions that I attended and at which I had a great time. Where do I start?! There's a first for everything, and Robin's house was our first- our 1st cs, our 1st day in Europe, the 1st city we fell in love with...we couldn't have asked for a better host to kick-start our crazy trek through Europe. Robin's house is like a mini Amsterdam- something crazy around every corner, living room is like your own cozy coffee shop, you get to meet and party with awesome friends of his like 'Mike the Man' and we even had live music!! Cheers to you Robin for all the memories ...and video hehe.

Crazy crazy times. I would not have made it to London without this guy, the sign he made me was so pretty! Felt very welcome and at home with Robin. When people have such open trust in another, it makes you feel, well, like smiling :)

Robin is a great person and was really interesting to talk with. We only got to stay one night so we didn't get to spend a lot of time together, and hope that someday we can. We did cook together! Even though it was a short visit, he really made us feel like we were at home. And he has an amazing variety of teas!

Robin is great entertainment. Especially for kids! He played hide and seek with our childeren, a lot of football and chess with our oldest. Although he was exhausted from all of this he still had the energy to out (actually I think this gave him energy somehow).
Robin is good fun and easy to get along with. Feels like a good friend instantly. He's the type you don't need to ask 3 times before he wants something to drink. I like that!

I'm really impressed by Robin's ability to bring together a good community of people. He has such a welcoming attitude, paired with excellent hospitality. SHE was great, man! Robin is funny, in many ways. I mean, he has many ways about him and constantly-changing facial expressions, of which are fairly hard-to-read yet never-the-less amusing. I really dig his photography, stories, and similar and different viewpoints.

Extremely Positive is not enough. Robin is super duper extremely positive.

He says he is being a boring and slightly narrow-minded man whom picks his nose and doesn't wash himself nor his clothes. He also farts and barks. (But that is not a problem because he doesn't smell)

Well he is probably the worst lier i have ever met.

HE IS broadminded, intelligent, funny, friendly, giving, sharing, smiling, humoristic, interesting, trustworthy, charming and he is definitely washing himself and his cloths.

No comments abut the farting.

If there was a world championship in hosting i am sure he would bring a gold medal for Netherlands.

i stayed at robin's place for 4 days and i had a wonderful time!his house is full of life,friends,couchsurfers, he's a great host,and it's always nice being around him.he smiles a lot,and has a very nice way of not taking life too seriously.if you are accepted in "the house" you should feel very lucky and enjoy every moment! robin,thank you for everything!

I stayed at Robin's for four nights. During that time, I enjoyed playing chess, eating some great community-type meals, and just hanging out on the balcony. Robin made it clear that I was welcome and encouraged everyone to make his home their's.

It was so much fun discovering the scene of Amsterdam with Robin and his friends. We were about seven couch surfers in his house. Robin is so friendly and easy going. Through him we met a lot of people who made uor stay fun and friendly! Thank you Robin!

When you surf robins place you became a member of the House. I was there for three nights I everybody in the house was cool. Robin toke us to the friday meeting in Amsterdam. Definitly Robins couch is one of the best in Amsterdam

we greatly enjoyed our time with robino. he introduced us to beach life along the coast to the north of amsterdam and to cafe life in some of the quiet neighborhoods of the city. he cooked us great meals and shared his wonderful photography with us. he is a very gracious host...

i stayed at his place with a lot of other couch surfers and he was there to help me when i have had a really bad couch surfing/hospitality club experience.

Robin, although i only got to meet you for 5 minutes, i definitely hope to meet again and talk cause you seem to be a really nice person.

#1 He is my fantastic host in Barcelona. Though he didn't really stay in his flat, i got a goooood dinner and after dinner chat with him, veronika, eric and emanuel. It was really a superb couchsurfing experience. They are all trustworthy mates. Thx Robin gave me a chance to meet loads of other CS members at his flat and in parties. I missed Barcelona right after I was on the bus to Bilbao...!!!

Robin was a really welcoming and freedom providing host. First thing he did was to give me a free hug, hand me the keys for his flat and a spare mobile phone for cheaper contact. Then he forced me to join the Am*dam group on CS in order to invite just anyone into his flat for a dinner party. Basically he willingly made us equal stakeholders of his flat for three days. As you can imagine, I really enjoyed him, his flat and the rest of the city. He's my number one pick as a host if I should visit again. DOUBLE THUMBS UP, a mighty FREE HUG and a BIG TRUST for "Robin the free host and his squatters" (us)... hm, that'd be a good band name, wouldn't it?!! ^^

Robin is very kind that he picked us up at the station and had dinner with us even though he was completely exhausted. It was a lot of fun that he took us clubbing, see the red light district and the coffee shop. He helped us a lot when preparing for hitchhiking to Hamburg (he said that we're the 3rd group of his couch surfer who succeed in it, yes!) I'll be waiting for your visit in Copenhagen!

We must have talked before we "met" (in the dungeon of Nijmegen). Robin is my long-time soul brother. At times he's phlegmatic, at times enigmatic, with a good sense of humor. At times he's _the_ party animal.

Our ideas about politics are a perfect match.
We cooperated on Indymedia and Wikipedia and finally really met in Paris, autumn 2003 at the Social Forum and I invited myself to his couch in BCN (before knowing about either CS or HC).

His pictures and his Dutch writings have been and will be published. And rightly so.

I wish we were gay.

Before getting to know him, we already shared some small pieces of life and couldn't even manage to go through the "usual" stuff in 4-5 days (ok, was working all day long, but not the last one!), probably we got diverted by other small talks and not so small talks. Note to myself: postpone "usual" stuff to next time we meet + be aware time runs very fast in his company.

With who would you share a fantastic Easter roman catholic mass with african singing and a french speaking dutch priest ? Necessarly a special friend!

 

I love Robin. He’s my twin and opposite soul at the same time. We are two parallel lines that sometimes converge. He teaches me the difference between “its” and “it’s” and insists I should have Leak soup and Stroop Waffels. He has problems coping with Dutch culture – although sometimes he’s a Dutch cliché himself. We traveled together; lived together and dreamt together (still dreaming today). I wish he finds the strength to quit smoke&alcohol (soon). He tries hard to understand the World and take it all in. He has an enormous heart. I’m beginning to suspect he knows me even more than I know myself...

 

To make commentary about people sometimes it's not so easy :), but you are great. Thanks to choosing us from CS, it was a big gift to have your company for couple of days. Those days made us to completely forget about day to day problems :). You're a sensitive men opened for people and interested in discovering new cultures, and capturing that world with your camera too :). I like our reflection in the water of lake in Sovata :). On other hand anybody knows that words are different from feelings, you don`t need to be described, keep on being cool, kind, clever, funny, curious, a hitchhiker, a passionate for colors and free traveler, you have my note 10*, :)).

Robin is a very experienced, polite, intelligent and curious traveler! It's a pity we couldn't have heard more about his experiences in Istanbul and elsewhere. He was a pleasure to host and we wish him luck on his travels.

Robin came hitchhiking to Aix all the way from Barcelona in one day (good job!). After we met in the evening, we went straight to have a drink at a café and a few more at other bars till late... It was fun. Thanks to Robin, I even discovered a place in Aix I didn't know.

 

I meet Robin for an evening in Istanbul.He's a fun, adventurous, interesting person, who teaches practical things to survive in the city and shares with me his time. Very good dinner and wonderful nocturnal views of Istanbul from the terrace! (hahaha). Good luck, Robin.

 

Robin and Veronica were my guests in Istanbul. They were a very nice couple. Robin is an adventoruous traveller and he is very curious about every place he visits. I was very surprised to see that he knows a lot about Istanbul. They are also one of the the first people to see my beautiful motorcycle-vi. I hope we can meet some time later again.

Even though Robin is no longer hosting he let me stay at his place as we knew people in common (as CS works upon) and he was great. I got here and he brought me home and we had 2 great nights together with the Barcelona crew, great guy to end my spanish days with.

Robin was my first CS guest in Nis. He is an exceptional man, with specific business (traveling as style of life). Robin is welcome to me in Nis again. Best wishes for his life in Istanbul.

Robin stayed for a week and we got along really well (no wonder we are both aries:))! He is a great member of CS community and was a perfect guest:independent, polite and considerate. Robin is very sincere, open minded, concerned about the people, the world, the environment, with a good heart, very responsible, honest, experienced, serious and passionate about things that he likes and is concerned about, nice to talk to, with loads of travelling stories...i admired his determination and constant desire to learn and improve. In short Robin is a great friend and i wish him all the best on his travels!

My first guest! Robin is a great guy, I very appreciated his way of thinking and travelling! I think he has what we can call an exciting life! I don't know where you are now, man, but I hope you will manage to reach Istanbul!

 

After moving at the beginning of April to my new flat in Munich, Robin came along as the first CSer!
It took long for him to arrive and I could not but give him my best welcome after what looked like a looong day on the road. But I guess my cooking was actually the real welcomer on the first night:)
Between cooking, chatting and meeting with more people, I just lacked to do one thing, to say goodbye on his departure day, but I am sure I will have another opportunity, even if it will be in the Netherlands.
Here's one true CSer and hitchhiker.

Robin single-handedly saved New Year's for a bunch of CSers in Barcelona. It's hard to fully express his generosity; he's a living example of what the CouchSurfing spirit is all about. (Even if he cracks some truly terrible jokes. Heh heh.) If you're swinging through Barna, consider yourself lucky that he's sticking around for a few more months. If not, try to cross paths with him when he begins his cross-continental sojourn. See you in Dubrovnik!

I agree with all which has already been written about super friendly Robin, but on my side I was most impressed that he was able to leave Netherlands, his own country, for 3 years in Spain, an entirely different culture, and now again he is on his way to settle in Turkey. This is called an exemplary Traveller and i wished i could be the same. Carry on Robin !

Robin was a lifesaver in helping me to find a place to stay in Barcelona...I only talked to him for perhaps an hour but he seems like a really nice guy, willing to help out anyone and he seems like an ideal couchsurfer...if you need a place to stay later this week just let me know!

Robin is a friendly and talkative. We have had contact via internet before I went to Bcn. We spent great time together at CS gathering in Barcelona. Hope to meet him in Istanbul...

Robin is the superhero of couchsurfing barcelona..jejeje, capable of organizing really amazing things arround. He's definetly cool!

Though we couldn't stay with him as long as we'd hoped, his house (packed with seven other couchsurfers) was a great place to begin the trip with. I also saw Robin on New Years with the big couchsurfers group wandering Barcelona. He's really nice and open and ready for anything!

Robin hosted me for a few days in BCN and I took over his room when he moved out. Superficially Robin is a great guy, funny, friendly, kind, and helpful. Below that layer is an even better layer and you'll find that he's interesting, intelligent, and principled. What's more, he wants you to be too; I can't say how refreshing it was to be challenged, if only a little. Hopefully someday I'll get to spend more time with him and see what other parts of his personality there are to uncover.

 

Have known this man for a few months, crazy in a good way is the best way to describe this lad, always organising great nights out...and now he's got no hair..whatever next.

I've met Robin just in the last days of his stay in Barcelona. Just a few days have been enough to realise he's an authentic guy with loads of interesting things to share with the others, very friendly and nice. Robin is a central figure in Bcn, organising dinner parties, hosting millions of strays and throwing random raves! he even doesn´t shout when i forget to bring wine :)

Robin was my first host and it was a great first time. It was in Barcelona during Christmas so he was mostly with his girlfriend and his family but he gave to me the opportunity to meet others couchsurfers (3-4) at his flat and we had a very good time together. I've seen him a couple of time during my stay, I liked him and I enjoyed to talk with him. Thank you!

Barcelona belongs to him. I even think he know it more than me. He gathers people like anyone else. He is definitely one of my masters in this CSing crusade

Don´t know anybody here in Bcn which is more looking after every CS person showing up in this "town". Organising meetings, dinners, parties..nobody will end up lonley here in barca, even if you just arrived, if you know robin:).

There are so many shades of robin it would take forever to paint the picture but let me start by saying that he is always ready to lend a helping hand, a perfect balance of quiet and rowdy, hilarious and serious and well, you get the idea. if you get a chance to party with robin, grab the oppourtunity. If you get a chance to have a conversation with him, embrace the knowledge.

Robin is a wicked mate, one of the best persons i've met in barcelona. HE is a true friend and i would recommend him to anyone wishing to enjoy his/her time in Barcelona. He is a very pleasent and trustful and charming person.

I had been talking with Robin long before I ended up in BCN... When we actually met, I realized that he can very much mix his crazy personality with a strange kind of seriousness and reliability... Good luck with your plan dude, I hope we meet again...

 

During the months he was active in town, he organized several CS meetings, dinners, meet ups. Always with a beer in hand, trying to do as much for the others. A key player! Fun&crazy... but that's normal in town ;))

Robin, wat een typetje! He is a really cool guy, very active, interesting and a good partyman! Yeaaah, more borovicka in Slovakia;-) It was nice to meet him, to talk with him, even in Dutch and to party together, no doubt!

really, when you trying to imagine the optimal cs host think about Robin!
its in his blood to help and make you feel at home.
seeing him awaking after a few hours of sleep and a work-day just to help a fellow cs was just the beginning.
one of the things i really appreciate about these guy is his way of making things happening... he will say what he think and make thinks moving.
we had an amezing BBQ CS partty at his place, that and the way he helped me in time of need make these one if the best couchsurfing experience i had!

There's really no way to summarize Robin. He's a free spirit, moving and doing what he likes, but considerate and always surrouned by a motley crew of friends from all walks of life. We've met in BCN, surfed in Tarragona and travelled to Valencia together.

My friendship with Robin was as unexpected as it is appreciated. He called me Barbie and I called him a crazy Dutchman..and I've been a regular visitor to his couch ever since :). Robin has made my trip to Spain more brilliant and is someone that has become close to my heart. I can't recommend a person higher.

I returned to stay with Robin after two weeks away and as he said I was no longer couch surfing I was staying with a friend. He shared so many beautiful parts of his Barcelona with me, magical bike rides, beautiful moments of fire and music, so much to remember from a beautiful time with a beautiful person. Thanks for everything en tot de volgende!

Robin is definetely one of the craziest surfers I have met. He was fitting perfectly our always_fiesta kind of flat, was really helpful and didn´t mind spending many hours trying to establish Internet connection for us...

Robin, who sits at the round table that is the BCN family, surfed with us with Reagan and Dave. Robin's the nicest guy and I can't help but laugh at his simple jokes. I wish I could vouch twice for someone. I only wish I could make it to Barcelona before I head home, if not just to hang out with him more!

 

Robin made my trip in Barcelona fantastic... by gettting me to meet with so many fantastic people. What's fantastic about him is he like to gather and share.

Had extra food a couple of fellow travellers and i had just picked up, so Robin, and 2 guys who were surfing with him joined us for dinner on La Rambla.

holy shit, what an amazing introduction to couchsurfing I had staying with Robin. I met dozens of people and saw so much of Barcelona that I wouldnt otherwise have known. But theres more than that, the couchsurfing motto is "changing the world, one couch at a time" and thats really what Robin is all about. Robin cant help but make sure that everyone around him is having a great time.
There is a whole lot more to couchsurfing than just finding a place to stay and its people like this that make it something special. If you come to BCN make sure you track him down and have a drink (or 17).

I already recognized the individual character of Robin when he first introduced himself somewhere in Barceloneta... What I like most is his very individual sense of humor! He is always good for a laugh and is a great couch sufer host. I am very glad having met him!

When I surfed last weekend, I saw his 14th and 15th days straight of meeting up with people, cooking, drinking, working and partying with just a tiny bit of sleep mixed in. Incredibly considerate and attentive, he goes out of his way to introduce everyone to a million people, speaks a million languages, and says he's moving to Turkey come February. write away!

Robin is such an amazing person. I surfed his couch six days and he was a super host. We had so much fun in this week. He is also the perfect guide for the city and knows the best places in town. The only thing we can say is Robin we really love you;-)

Robin is just GREAT, has his heart at the right spot and has a superb sense of humour! He might be the reason why I fell in love with Barcelona. He showed us around all the beautiful places, took us to the yummy food spots and saved me & a friend from staying another night in the car. Through his spontaneous hosting and his Couchsurfing-BBQ-Party I got to know wonderful people I'll always remember. I'm endlessly grateful to him.

What the fuck, fuck fuck fuck. Such a niiiiiceee guy. What ever u expect from a host, he definetly has it ! Gave me a warm welome to his place (without requesting over CS)took me to a great and cheap restorant and organized a awesome barbeque with about 25 people from up to 8 different countries. A guy u could not spent more than 5 minutes without laughing. Very open minded, just great!

My first CS contact in Barcelona, we actually met 'by chance' when Juan invited me along to a birthday party of a CS member. We then hung out the rest of that evening, and caught up again (eventually :)) the next evening too.

robin really changed my feelings towards barcelona, he has great energy which we felt stayed with us throughout our adventures. he shared parts of barcelona that we wouldnt have learned about otherwise.

We met for a drink in Gracia, the real barcelona. If it was a better time to meet i think we could have walk around the whole city and have lots of fun. I guess we'll do that in Istanbul then, I'm sure we'll meet again.
