ABOUT ME

I'm smiling a lot... :) if not all the time! :-D
...I love living, traveling and getting to know other cultures, making friendships, I love listening to people's stories...

My name is Jan. I was born in the Czech Republic but ever since I was little - I lived in the United States (in Denver, Colorado). I have then returned to my home country and made my home base in Brno, Czech Republic while I travelled the world. Now I live in Brentwood, Essex (UK) where I work as an IT Engineer. I have always helped travellers to Denver and Brno who were in need of accommodation. I assisted them with finding a job and many times even lend them my car so they could travel around the United States. I guess I'm just too nice (that's what my friends say anyway) :o)

I am very curious and feel an intense desire to travel the world and see places, meet new people. I am on a constant look out for a deeper connection, but also learning to appreciate the brief encounters and basic human kindness - we take what we can get, right?

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

hosted, hosting, helping with hosting...

I love the idea of staying somewhere like a local. Sleeping in a non-touristic place, eating breakfast from wherever they'd get it, and wander the streets of their neighborhoods. Locals always have great tips, even if they can't spare the time to show you around, and it's awesome.
I am not a very demanding person, nor do I seek a lot of care or attention. Just point me where to go, and I'll follow your advice.

I've organized a few CS meetings.
I think that local CS events have a great potential to get people together in the areas they are living in or visiting so there may be a group of like-minded, drama-free, fun-loving friends to hang out with :)
If I can not host you for whatever reason, I look forward to meeting with you.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I have met some wonderful people though Couchsurfing. I had people from Russia, Turkey, Canada, Hong Kong, Bulgaria, Denmark, Menorca and Poland stay with me recently. I hosted people through Hospitalityclub.org before.

smiling, laughing, dancing (standard and Latin dances), singing, travel, learning new things, sports - just to say a few - skiing, swimming, I love the nature so hiking, canoeing, I love hot springs, discovering new places and meeting new people :)
lounging, social drinking, sunshine, making new best friends, movies, sitcoms, cocktails, wine, Europe, spicy foods, small towns, locals, organizing super-awesome parties, planning trips!

Also a fan of walking around, aimlessly (well, it usually ends up with a hot chocolate). There's nothing quite like soaking up the vibe and energy of a city when you just walk through it, and really look around (and listen).
