Couch Information

Couch picture

Couch Available: Yes
Preferred Gender: Any
Max Surfers Per Night: 2

Shared Sleeping Surface: Depends
Shared Room: Depends

Like I said, you've got two options: the couch in the shared living room, or my huge double bed (see photo).

I live in a nice flat in Ramat Gan, very close to Tel Aviv. I share the flat with three nice flatmates. You'll have two accomodations options: Either share my big double bed, or sleep on the couch in the living room; I don't mind.
I live in a place called Shikkun Vatikim. It's very close to Tel Aviv, 15 minutes walk from the Central Train Station, has plenty of public transport nearby (including service cabs on the weekends), and a nice place in general. I don't have pets nor do I smoke, and my flatmates don't like those too much.
I work 9-to-6 on weekdays, and have my weekends free, usually. In my spare I'd love to show you around Tel Aviv - though I don't know it that well. Weekends are best.
Towels and blankets are on me.

CouchSurfing Experience

Unfortunately I didn't have many, since I pretty much discovered the site shortly before burying myself in the all-consuming Technion. However, attending my first little CS gathering in Haifa I've met several nice people from my home town. I convinced one of the lovely attendees there she should come to the Kinneret with me, and I got a great short road-trip through the north of Israel as a result, the next day. And a new friend.

Interests

Off the top of my head - traveling, meeting travelers, amateur photography, reading, BP debating, hiking, music, dancing, and some more.

Philosophy

I don't really have one; the closest thing I could think of was that on my deathbed, I want to be able to quote Fritz the Cat:
"My soul is tormented! I've been up and down the four corners of this big old world! I've seen it all! I've done it all! I've fought many a good man, and laid many a good woman! I've had riches and fame and adventure...I've tasted life to the fullest, and still my heart cries out, yes, cries out in this hungry, tortured, wrecked quest: 'More!'"

Music, Movies, Books

My main cultural experience is literature, and this divides into two parts - Science Fiction (mainly "hard", like Asimov, Heinlein, Niven, etc. etc.) and just eclectic things, whatever comes to hand - lately, mostly more 20th-century classics.

In movies, I don't have a specific taste; but I'd have to say that the best movie of all times is probably "2001: A Space Odyssey".

Music-wise, it seems I mostly like Israeli rock at this period in time, such as The Biluim, Berry Sakharof, Ehud Banai and the likes. But every now and then a new thing gets on playlist - lately, it's Gogol Bordello and Bob Dylan. If you really want to know what I'm listening to nowadays, go here: last.fm/user/shlevich/charts

Types of People I enjoy

Almost all of you.
In the context of CS, I particularly enjoy people who have great life-stories or travel-stories to tell.

Teach, Learn, Share

Would be happy to teach anything that has to do with computer science and maybe a bit of programming - and would really love it if someone finally taught me how to play the harmonica.

One Amazing Thing I've Seen or Done

Zip lined over a small lake in Michigan.

Opinion on the CouchSurfing.org Project

A simply wonderful concept.

We firstly met on LastFm. Soon after that I came to Israel and we met for real at the concert of Oy Division. From the very first minute Beny seemed to me as a very nice and warm person. I also went to the party at his place in Nazareth Illit and I really enjoyed this experience. Beny is a very fun guy and so are his friends. His couch was also a comfortable one :)
Looking forward to meeting all the "crew" again!

Benny is funny as hell and we all had a great time in Haifa. He was awesome to let me crash at his place on such short notice. We went to International Couchsurfing Day party in Haifa and I got to meet a lot of awesome people. This is what CS is all about! A++ would surf again.

Benny has been one of my closest friends for the past year. He's one of the most trustworthy people I know, and my go-to guy. In addition to being one of the most adorable geeks I've ever met (and I've had my share of geeks...), he's funny, spontaneous and loves long walks on the beach. If there's one reason to come to Nazareth Illit, it's Benny.

Well... there are lot of good things I could say about Beny... how to keep it short?!?
We met several times in very different environments, and he amazes me over and over again.
He is very simple and easy-going, funny, cool, compassionate and jovial: just the kind of guy one likes to hang out with!
Yet, he can be very serious, warm, caring and sure is very helpful, so all in all just the kind of guy I really love to have as a friend.
If one asks me about the best idea I ever had: it was going to his party - otherwise I might never have met him.
