About Me

I'm a Creative Nomad who has recently returned back to the mobile mode after living in Sri Lanka last few years, sometimes a struggling minimalist as I carry music and film gear for my performances, edit sessions and shoots. My heritage is Sri Lankan and I grew up in Australia.

My Musical alter ego is Larry T Hill and I've recently completed a south asian music tour to launch my new EP called DIASPERADO. My music is at quietbackroad.net

I also freelance as a filmmaker and co-founded kajucreative.net

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

WHY I'M HERE :

I used to Couch Surf and "urban WWOOF" as a permanent lifestyle for around 6 years. I kinda pioneered the concept in Australia and would encourage others to get involved. This lifestyle allowed me to spend more time learning about permaculture and simliar systems whilst also pouring time into developing my music.

My initial experiences in south asia seemed to mean that this was not going to keep working, so I went for home stays and jobs where I could live there. But I'm looking forward to being proved wrong this time!

Music, Movies, and Books

Really hard to say in this little box right here, Frank Zappa and Miles Davis are all time music faves. Tune Yards is excellent looping and musical inspiration. Movies... well. Fight Club comes to mind as striking one. Loved the Wild Wild Country Doc. Let's chat about this!

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

A few years ago I lived out my dream of returning to my Motherland of Sri Lanka, overland and sea. (Yup, No flights. ) It took a whole 6 months and then I began part two of the dream which was to live there for 3 years. I've recently finished 4 years there and now have returned to a more mobile lifestyle. I am now about release my EP, DIASPERADO, which features many songs written on the ocean and around this time.

Teach, Learn, Share

Ive been known to give workshops/talks/etc on things like bike mechanics, consensus decision making, first aid/emergency scenarios, urban wwoofing and self sufficiency projects. Used to teach technical production (sound, lights, other) to high school drama students which came from a past career stint in 'sustainable' event management.

My sharing attempts to pass on what I learn tend to be weaved through my everyday life but sometimes consciously documented through the blog linked above or manifested in a community workshop.

What I Can Share with Hosts

SHARING :
My music, films, video work. I love sharing some pretty random and varied knowledge, where it could be useful. Apart from that I'm not too sure until I meet you, then we can see what the common ground is and what I can bring to the table.
