>> For the next 30 days I'm providing medical support out in the Aleutian Islands of the Bering Sea -- I may not have even any email contact with this site -- back at the end of July!! <<
Well, I'm not in a very interesting location, at least in the immediate area -- I've got a very small apartment in the Eastgate area of Bellevue. There is bus transportation near by, but nothing 'round here worth hanging out at -- well, except the sNaKe PiT -- my community based free bar...
I'm very busy with work and going back to school, so I probably wouldn't have time to show you around; but I do have a very active social life and generally know where the parties are ...
Non smoker, and if you smoke, you will have to do it outside; I have a loving dog who will smother you with kisses and hugs if you will let him.

I've enjoyed traveling just over 20 countries, and if I don't leave this country a couple of times a year ... I start to go crazy! Maybe that is why I'm a bit crazy ... ‘cuz I have just not been leaving it enough ...
I've traveled in a lot of different ways, sleeping in hostels, bed and breakfasts, resorts, and train stations -- and "couch surfing!" -- but not through CS, but through friends of friends, contacts made on the road, etc. Actually, when I think about it, it is surprising how much I have couch surfed -- not generally out of simply finding a cheap place to stay, but mostly out of meeting more people, building community, and being a real part of the local culture!
How I Participate in CS
I really love the concept of community and the gift economy at the Burning Man Festival (BRC, Nevada) -- so when I learned of this site I knew this would be a good fit! CS combines my love for travel with my love for a community that uses a gift economy ... And now I've started the first CS camp at Burning Man -- to find out more you can go to the camp's web site
Open people, kind people, enlightened people. Oh, and burners too - sometimes. ;)

One Amazing Thing I've Seen or Done
Eating baguette of bread and drinking a $2 bottle of French wine while sitting on the roof of the Notre Dame; Going into the back jungle temples in the region of Angkor Wat; Laying on the edge of a 600 ft cliff on the western shore off Galway; Standing at the Shaolin Temple; Returning home, contemplating life, existence and enlightenment, and then leaving again.
This summary is not a replacement for reading references; it's a quick summary to help you get started. At a glance, you can see how many references a member has, and how many of them are positive, neutral, and negative.
In the second line, you'll see how many references came from people who hosted this member, surfed with them, and traveled with them. These numbers won't always add up to the total: some references are not categorized, and some may be categorized as more than one thing.
When viewing this summary, don't jump to conclusions! Things that are negative for one person may be positive for another, and vice versa. It's important to read references carefully and evaluate what that information means to you.
Sofa king! What a wonderful man. As laid back as they come yet so filled with energy to move around, wear wonderful pants, make late night quesadillas, and most impressively! is always down for a good old slap shot.
He's eccentric, outgoing, entertaining, and comfortable to be around. He's collaborative and helpful. A wonderful man that I am grateful to have met!
keep being awesome James!
Wow, what a guy! James and I met at Burning Man in 2010; he put in a backbreaking effort to make the Couchsurfing camp run to plan, which was hugely appreciated by everyone there so thank you again! My sister and I were fortunate enough to surf with James in Seattle following the festival. James was incredibly welcoming and generous, inviting us into not just his home but his whole life for the time that we were there. James exudes a positive energy that is infectious and I had an amazing time in the company of him and his friends. Thank you for opening my eyes to what couchsurfing is all about and I look forward to seeing you guys for a ski trip soon I hope!!
This guy was one of the main players in keeping CS Camp afloat at Burning Man. He made sure everyone was comfortable and having a blast and I really appreciate everything he did in terms of running the camp. Had a ge=reat first time at Burningman! Hope to see ya next year, James.
James was an incredibly wonderful host, he put so much time and effort into the couchsurfing camp and it really showed. He helped bring me and over a hundred and fifty other couchsurfers together to have a great time. Thanks again, look forward to seeing you in the future!
one of the unsung heroes of BM. James brought people together and ensured things ran playa smooth! I am very greatfull for his commitment to CS, and look forward to spending more time with him in the future!
