Amelia Borntrager

I was really fortunate to meet her in her last day in Costa Rica.

Amelia is very beautiful lady outside and inside with such a delicious energy.

I greatly admire her to not be afraid of who she is and not care about how others perceive her, regardless of who is around her.
I find this to be very inspiring, and I am working hard to be like that. :D

We stayed with Kelly and Amelia in Costa Rica for a week and I have to say this was one of my best couchsurfing experiences. Maybe that's because they gave us just what we needed: a real shower, an immensely inviting house, some good partying (and the opportunity to perform at the local karaoke...), the beach the monkeys, everything about Playa Pelada is perfect!

Kelly and Amelia are open and generous people, fun and smart to talk with, and inspirational.

I leave sad, thankful and rested! Thank you so much.

Me and my girlfriend had been traveling in central america and we had been having a great time, but when we got to costa rica it was not the same.
We wanted to leave Costa Rica as soon as possible, fortunately we met Kelly and Amelia they were our hosts for a week and changed completely the view I had about costa rica I enjoyed the time I was there.

 

Amelia had quite a few of us stay at her house in Nosara, Costa Rica, during her birthday celebrations. We had so much fun and I'm really glad to have met her. She has such a calming presense, it's so cool. I look forward to continuing to knowing her better and better.

 

I guess there's no possible way to not to love Amelia and all her positive energy. I met her in Nosara when we went for her birthday party, all the time with her was not just fun but also a really sharing experience. Then hosting her was real delight, full of meaningful moments that really makes me tell you that she embodies and Upholds the Mission of CS.

 

Amelia was the host you always hope for. Honest, genuine, carefree, and generous.

 

Amelia and I first met playing volleyball, but soon bonded over a pool at a mutual friends place. The next week I followed her and her friend to Rainforest Aid 09 where I worked with them for a week, getting to know how sweet and sensitive Amelia is. She has an amazing thirst for life and her adventures are contagious. I am going to have to come back to CR to visit her.

 

I had a great time surfing with Amelia for her birthday. She and Kelly are hilarious together. Sitting out on the porch in rocking chairs while chain smoking and listening to her stories made the weekend wonderful.

she is a great person with a lovely spirit. anxious for good times and exerts nothing but positive energy.

at my 1st CS event, amelia made me feel kindred and chatted with me til about 2am. it was a weird, high-school-esque connection. i just know we'll wind up in detention together someday... and i can't wait.

Amelia is awesome, always fun to be around with, she has so much to share and too many good anecdotes to tell!i had a great time hosting her and her cousin ! She is a very trustworthy person, I highly recommend her as a host and as a guest!

Amelia is amazing. I had so much fun with the time I spent at her house in Phoenix. Her, her roommeates, and I had good times together swapping stories and philosophisizing. I am very glad I got to know Amelia and hope we cross paths again in the future. Have fun in Costa Rica.

Amelia is well Amelia. Defined by no one. Makes her own path ad does it with style. Whenever I see her people are tripping over each other to greet her, hug her, or just spend time with her. She just has this attitude and energy that everyone around her admire. Yeah I am fast becoming one of her groupies too.

 

This cool woman has got attitude! We've met at Paella 2008 and later she has surfed my couch for more than a week. Amelia seems to have enjoyed her trip in Europe a lot and i am happy to have contributed. What a lovely person she is. Good connection even though Amelia and i differ a lot. One can talk in an totally open way to her, you just feel that she takes other people just as they are. And i appreciate that she took her travel easy and stayed a longer time to know a city and its people. Hope to come to Arizona one day and jump into her fresh pool!

We met at a CS party. I liked Amelia's energy. She is playful, adventurous, energetic, and has such a great caring and sharing spirit that I am very glad for the time(s) I am able to share in her company.

 

Amelia definitly picked up some sunshine in Arizona. Now she's spraying it all over the places where her travels take her. Open for food and talks from stupid to serious. My respect for the hotness of the Korean food you had! Enjoy your time-out!

 

Though she seemed a bit tired that evening we had a nice chat, and I found it really cool that she decided to stay that long in Vienna! You gotta come back with your Mom and niece and nephew - and move to Hawaii ;o)

Amelia is a total sweetie! Great to talk to and hang out with. We had a great time talking about traveling at a CS meeting in Vienna. I'm so glad she ended up staying in Vienna and hope to hang out with her again before she goes =)

 

Spending time with Amelia is really relaxing, because she´s selfconfident, doesn´t have to prove anything to anyone, she´s laid-back and interested at the same time, she loves what she does now (= travelling) and who she is... (But take care: She gets to know your "secrets" quite fast *gg*)

 

I have bumped into Amelia several times in recent weeks and I have found her to be a friendly and warm person. Enjoy your travels this side of the pond; )

 

Amelia was a great addition to what could have been just another rainy night in Berlin. I have a great time talking to her and she is full of insight. I think she has is really absorbing and fulfilling her goal of her time in Europe. Im so glad she decided to stay longer in Vienna so that we could meet again. and again and again. I think we will keep running into eachother.

A shame that we didn't update this reference so far!! Amelia spent some days in Vienna in summer 08 - we hung out quite a lot during her stay and even spontaneously managed to host her for one night. She spreads rays of suneshine and happyness which jump over to other people immediately and can turn any evening into a party but also be a partner for deep and serious conversations. All in all a great woman!

I really enjoyed meeting Amelia. Such a warm hearted, open minded, fellow traveler from Arizona. I enjoyed much time with her discussing traveling, spontaneity, randomness, laughing, sharing a beer or three (or was it more?), talking about our favorite smell (Arizona rain in the desert), etc. It was a pleasure meeting her! I hope our paths cross again this EuroTrip. luvs...
update: We met again in Zaandam, The Netherlands. I soooooo enjoy being around her. She is amazing. She invited me to come over and stay with her. We wandered around Zaandam and Amsterdam together. Amelia is now one of my treasured friends. I so enjoy our random conversations and the time that we spent together.

 

Amelia is everything you could want from a CS'r - She fitted right into our flat, she's full of good stories, advice and chat. And she didn't die from my cremated dinner! I am very envious of her travel plans and hope to see her again on her trip to hear a couple more tales.

 

Yeeeeeeeeeey. Was thrilled to run into her again at the African Festival in Vienna. Amelia has great energy is a good dancer and is a lot of fun to talk to. I am looking forward to spending more time with her. We are sooooo keeping you. See you later, honey :)

 

very (!) open minded, be prepared for surprises. She is the loviest women i've met from couchsurfing... what shall i say,... she is one of my best friends now :-) And of course one more thing, you have now the record of the longest stay at my place - 19 days (!) Remember, that originally you wanted only stay for 3 days *lol* I will visit you! You are welcome any time - remember that! I met Amelia in Vienna, Austria and surfed one night with her. She is saavy, fun and one of those unique individuals that you want to hang with.

We surfed Georg's couch and had a great time.

I hope my path crosses Amelia's again in our travels as I would love to know her better!

I met Amelia at her very first day in Europe at the Paella 2008. She had arrived quite early that precise morning. Seems like we have a lot in common - not only the age. She was so overwhelmed and tired ... but enjoying the atmosphere ... and the next day you could feel what her normal energy level was like ... Seems that I missed some funny things she did in the party tent Sunday night ... when I had already gone to sleep ... Hope you enjoy your stay in Europe ... and maybe we'll see each other at another crazy CS party?

Amelia sees the positive in any situation, She is an easy going traveler who has a plan but can easily adapt to make the best of any situation. We had a great time having dinner in our little group, so much so that they missed their train and had to stay another night :) we put the extra time to use in a local pub. Don't hesitate to host Amelia!

 

We might have met at the notorious Paella in Switzerland but I don't remember... I hosted Amélia on fairly short notice and she had to sleep on the floor beacuse the couch was taken but she did not mind. She was a really great guest. She kept me updated by sending me text messages so I know where she was. She also bought beer for a small party at our place. We did not get to talk too much because she seemed tired but I can totally recommend her as a guest since she is a nice and open-minded person.

Amelia was great fun to hang out with for the past couple of days in Berlin! We met at the Paella where she spontaneously decided to come to Berlin with me. We spent three days walking around, touring, despite the pouring rain, and we had some really good conversations. I am really excited for Amelia's upcoming trip and I strongly encourage everyone to host her! She was a really gracious and appreciative guest, and I'm so happy that we met and got to spend some time together!

 

Met at CS Paella Switzerland and we had great time partied together. Sorry that we dont have much time together cause of the 180 crazy party CSers there but at least we met in person. Good luck on your European adventure!

 

I met Amelia briefly on the CS Paella but noticed her only on the last day. too many people there. Amelia joined Ashley to go to berlin afterwards and we have hosted her 4 nights. Amelia is really open-minded ;) Ashley and her went out alone during daytime but we spend some time in the evenings, in beergarden, museum or watching "Back to the future" and eating pizza. Amelia helped adjust my tits before the moment of truth in the Party Tent. Besides that, she was hilarious and has a good heart. I really enjoyed talking with her! Oh yeah, and she doesn't get embarrassed easily. Nice.

So much fun in Berlin and on the ride over there, it was nice to have her around while exploring the city. She's a very (very, very,.. ;) open person that has quite some stories to tell and she's really enthusiastic about travelling and surfing now after all that hosting in the States. she made the same decision as I made after the paella - just go with the flow, that's how we ended up in Berlin! good luck with the rest of your trip!

 

After being in contact with Amelia for quite some time through e-mails it was a great pleasure that I could convince her to come to the CouchSurfing Paella 2008. With her open-minded attitude she fit in perfectly. If she requests your couch take her in!

 

Amelia and I met on the CS-Paella and shared the ride back together.Amelia is a good soul and likes to talk and share her experiences. I'd say she is a very open minded woman.

 

Amelia is a very nice person, always polite and talkative. And she knows, how to paaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaardy! =) We met at the Couchsurfing Paella 2008 and I liked her from the start.

Amelia rescued me from airport limbo when my connection was delayed by hours and hours and hours and hours. I put up an emergency posting to the Phoenix list looking for a rescuer, and a short time later a friendly voice came over my phone, offering me a pool to cool in, a house with movies, and best of all, good company. My love for random acts of fun and kindness are one reason I love CS, and Amelia showed what it's all about.

This Chick is one of the best human beings i have ever met!!! She let me chill at her place, and she always lets you come and party or even just go and chill out in the pool, which is a huge deal in AZ. I love you baby, can't wait till we meet up in Euro and go crazy!!

good lord, what can i say except that amelia is effing awesome!! she hosted our little coven, even when she should have been preparing for her big adventure. it was fate that brought us together, and i see many years of friendship ahead. we got our good dose of erykah and had breakfast beers in the pool. she's good people, and i love her.

Amelia is an amazing person! We get along so well and see eye to eye on just about everything. From the moment I walked in the door everything seemed to line up for what I needed, including a room for a month! She's such an open and caring person that I felt completely at home. Plus all the food we aquired was Di - wait for it - Vine! I can't wait to see how Europe changes her!

 

Amelia and I have been friends for the past eight years. She is truly one of the most loving people I know. Amelia is a conscientious guest and host.

 

Well I barely know her and I am planning on traveling with her in Europe now...so she definitely made a good first impression. ;)

Can't wait for more adventures with you Amelia! It WILL be amazing!

 

Amelia is a very easy person to love because she's always positive. She agreed with everything we proposed, she always went towards everyone even though it was sometimes hard for her because of the language barrier. She's been a great couchsurfer, somebody who's really worth discovering. She showed us a little bit of her personality and we hope to learn more in the future. SO AMELIA RENDEZ-VOUS NEXT JULY IN SWITZERLAND !!!!!

 

I've had the pleasure of meeting her at a couple parties now. She's fun, upbeat and has great friends. (You can tell alot about a person by thier friends) I would like to be in that circle. The h2o guns are a must! Hugs!

I had heard about how cool Amelia was and then met her at Ingrid's going away party and have to say they were right. I am also spent a day at the park BBQing and hanging out and just have to say she is very easy to talk with and so easy going. I have also been to a few of her house partys and just had so much fun hanging with her and her cousins ;) She is a free spirit and always down for a party, but also can chill out and have a great conversation about life. I always enjoy hanging out with her.

It was excellent to stay at her place.

It was wonderful to meet you! Amelia is one of those people who is full of an uncommon warmth that is not often found (unless if you're a couchsurfer, maybe).. and she's really great at bringing stories to life!

My travelmate Christoffer and I had the pleasure of staying with Amelia and her crazy flatmates for four actionpacked days. We had the best time in Phoenix, battling eachother in Guitarhero, going to 3 parties (including one Monkey-party!), and relaxing at the pool. We will never forget our great time in Phoenix!

Finally we were able to host her while she visited Denmark. We had a great time, but wished that she could have stayed just a little longer - because it felt like somthing was missing when she left... Hope to see you soon!

 

Amelia is an fabulous lady! I am so pleased that our friendship has grown as it has. I am impressed with her openess and sense of self. I so enjoy hanging out with her and sharing our thoughts, viewpoints and opinions on life, love, the cosmos, etc. She is crazy fun and if you get a chance to surf with her and her groovy roommates...I highly recommend it! Amelia is the type of person that always has fun no matter where she is. When you meet her for the first time, you'll feel like you have known her longer. She reminds me so much of a good friend of mine that I don't see very often, so maybe that's why I'm drawn to her!

She is the greatest friend a room mate could have. She loves to party and knows how to have an intelligent conversation. I have seen her make a lasting impression on all of her CSers.

 

We only got to hang out for a few hours but I met her and all of her housemates and they were so much fun! Amelia is hilarious and witty! "What did you say?" She's very real and to the point. Try the end chair ;)

Amelia is amazing and I adore her!!I have had the honor of spending time with her over the last 1 n 1/2 yrs. but it never seems to be enough time. She is vivacious, beautiful, open, honest and truly a joy to know! I will miss her when she is gone but know I will have a place to stay where ever she is! MWAAAH

 

Amelia had a party for her new roommates and invited CS friends. She knows how to have a good time, surrounds herself with interesting and diverse people, and was a great party host. Based on that experience, I'm sure she is a good CS host too.

The first time I met her was in a bar with other CS girls and we had a lot of fun together, she is very openminded and talkative. Hope to see you again someday!

How fun, she was totally laid back and didn't mind when we brought another couchsurfer with us! She took us out and invited us to hang out with her and her friends. What a great time, I hope she visits us in Portland!

amelia is vantastic. after 6 cold sleepless nights of camping out at joshua tree national park in the mojave desert she welcomed me into her world for one week. we exchanged pleasantries, ate well, and had a wonderful time. her network of friends and family are encouraging. it is always delighful to meet happy people.

 

Amelia is one of those people that you thank your lucky stars that you met. It was a long time in coming, too; we kept ending up at different functions, and having to rely on email...but finally, we got our in person time together! She is so down to earth, and friendly, and puts out a really calming, encouraging energy all the time. You can't help but be comfortable around her. I know we have a great future as friends, and I can't say how much I look forward to it.

 

Amelia is full of life and is great to be around. You will have a fabulous time if you're lucky enough to get to hang out with her!! She knows lots about lots of things and has a wise and hilarious outlook on life.
