Couch Available: Coffee or a drink Preferred Gender: Any
THE HOUSE/'HOOD: we've just moved! we're in crown heights, my favourite neighbourhood in brooklyn. we had to carry our couch down 7 flights of stairs to move it, so you'd better tell us how comfortable you think it is! in addition, we have lots of blankets and sheets, floor, and a massage table you could sleep on as well. we have laundry facilities in the apartment and a nice kitchen that you're welcome to use (no meat please!). we also have the best shower in brooklyn!
smoking happens outside. we have no pets (except fish). we strive to be morning people, so this probably isn't the place to sleep in. that said, we don't mind if you come in late (it is new york, after all), as long as things are quiet and peaceful at bed-time.
our schedules are erratic. we both work only about 3 days per week, but these are very looooooong days. on our days off, we can probably show you around, and we like to go to the botanic garden on tuesdays (when it's free!). tuesdays, thursdays, and the weekend are our most open times and easiest times to welcome you. :)
there is a small park across the street from us, and we are within walking distance of prospect park, the brooklyn botanic garden, the brooklyn library, the brooklyn museum, trains to the beach, lots of shops and cheap restaurants. our neighbourhood is largely caribbean, so there is lots of awesome food closeby, including vegan/i-tal food! we ask that guests be quiet and respectful of our neighbours in this very residential area. please be aware that this part of brooklyn is in the process of rapid gentrification; we are clearly a part of it but strive to lessen our impact by building community and positive relations with everyone in our vicinity.

TRANSIT: we're 5 blocks north of the Kingston Ave. stop on the 3 and 4 trains (red & green)...and 5 blocks south of the Kingston/Throop Ave. stop on the C train (blue). bus B43 is right outside our door.
ACCESSIBILITY: unfortunately our home is not wheelchair accessible. there are about 10 steps up to the front door. once inside, everything is on one level, and most rooms are fairly spacious, including the bathroom. the shower is enormous and so easy to get in and out of (you'll see.)

i get along with almost anybody. we're probably friends already, we just haven't realised it yet. i'm vegan, and i LOVE food. i'm skilled in the kitchen and am always willing to cook for others...just ask! i smile and laugh lots, even though i'm not really smiling in my pictures...don't let it fool you :)
i really care about the world and all the animate and inanimate things that fill it. in short, i give a shit.
i like new york (but my love is reserved only for brooklyn) and am most likely up for exploring a bit, though don't be offended if i don't choose to go see the statue of liberty with you ;) i like biking around, double-dutching in the park, doing arts & crafts, chatting, laughing, being stupid, being smart, drinking teas, and listening to records. i take west african dance classes sometimes, and you'd be welcome to join me! i don't really go out at night much, but like to do things during the day.
i live with my boyfriend, joshua, who doesn't have a cs profile but likes hosting guests too. neither of us drink, but we don't mind if you do.
How I Participate in CS
i hosted surfers for about a year and had amazing experiences with each of them. been surfing myself now for about a year as well. i also try to organise little get-togethers for skipping rope or "crafternoon"
CouchSurfing Experience
SURFING: ok, so i've surfed in montreal, london, several places around ireland and wales, spain, india, bangladesh, finland...each has been an absolutely amazing experience. there are brilliant people out there everywhere. so rad.
outside of CS, i've also been welcomed into strangers' homes all over the u.s., canada, ireland, england, china, korea and into friends' homes in many other places as well. i have had amazing luck. hope i can spread it around
HOSTING: i hosted a bunch in vancouver, and i always had an absolutely fantastic time whenever anyone showed up at my door. always a gong show. have hosted in new york a bunch now as well.... our house is used to guests.

Opinion on the CouchSurfing.org Project
CS is a model for how the whole world should interact.
This summary is not a replacement for reading references; it's a quick summary to help you get started. At a glance, you can see how many references a member has, and how many of them are positive, neutral, and negative.
In the second line, you'll see how many references came from people who hosted this member, surfed with them, and traveled with them. These numbers won't always add up to the total: some references are not categorized, and some may be categorized as more than one thing.
When viewing this summary, don't jump to conclusions! Things that are negative for one person may be positive for another, and vice versa. It's important to read references carefully and evaluate what that information means to you.
I had a great time in timohy's community house. He is a genius ...look at his languages profile:)! Openhearted and openminded! Hope we see again!

what a wonderful place with wonderful people - I felt really welcomed be timothy and his housemates - we had some fun, food and interesting conversations - greetings to patrice, rebecca and the other girls...
Staying at Feygele farm with Timothy and all the others was totally awesome. They are warm, loving and welcoming people. I had so much fun and would love to meet them all again.
Feygele Farm is an awesome collective of sincere people, filled with laughter and vivacity. I enjoyed Bollywood night, good conversations, a bike ride through Brooklyn, and a visit to the Third Root healing centre. Timothy is an all-star host and genuine couch surfer. Thank you.
Tim is a lovely little guy with a big beard. Still ready to have fun on a kitch music, he cares a lot about all the people around him and so welcoming.
Meeting him can just be pleasant for you !

My stay with Tim was a comfortable and exciting one! Tim is totally down to earth, passionate, and practically omniscient. Though I didn't see much of him, he was completely charming and accommodating (even letting us stay an extra night.)
What an interesting young man. Wish I could have spent more time getting to know him but all of us were very busy. His home, couch and parking place were very appreciated! I hope to visit with him again some time. Love to have him come to California sometime and try my couch.
